You can draw only a pumpkin, or make a whole composition with accompanying holiday attributes. Nothing limits your imagination. Today we will draw a composition of pumpkin and candles. Let's start!
Required art materials:
✔ A thick sheet of A4 format (I use Whatman paper, with a density of 200 g/m); ✔ Sharpener; ✔ Eraser; ✔ A simple HB pencil (I will draw with a Faber Castell pencil); ✔ Liners 0.3 and 0.5 mm (I use Faber Castell liners); ✔ A set of colored pencils (I'll take a classic Faber-Castell colored pencil set). To work on each element, we will choose 2-3 primary colors, and a few colors for the final accents. I chose the following colors: - yellow 307/309; - orange 314; - red 316; - brown 383/387/378/392; - green 357/359.
Step 1: Draw a Pencil Sketch of a Pumpkin
Let's start drawing a pumpkin with a pencil sketch. We take a sheet of A4 format, make a preliminary sketch of our future picture. In my illustration, I will make a pumpkin the main element. To make the composition look more interesting, I will add more candles and leaves. When making a sketch, we first outline the general contours, then draw smaller details. Our pumpkin will take up most of the leaf. Don't forget to draw her eyes, nose and mouth. I got an evil and cunning grimace. Nearby we outline 3 candles. Draw a few leaves behind the pumpkin. We try not to press hard on the pencil, we don’t use too soft a pencil either, so as not to dilute dirt on the sheet. We should get a fairly detailed, but light sketch.
Step 2: Outline the Pencil Sketch of the Pumpkin with Liner
Now we need to circle our pumpkin with a liner. To begin with, take a 0.5 mm thick liner. Very carefully, slowly, we draw our sketch along the contour, we try to draw the line evenly. We will have a beautiful finished contour drawing. To give life to the drawing, we will add more details. We take a 0.3 mm thick liner and add veins to the leaves, scuffs and touches to the pumpkin and candles. The main thing is not to overdo it too much. After we take the eraser and erase the entire pencil outline. Don't worry, the liner won't smudge.
Step 3: Draw a pumpkin with colored pencils
It's time to learn how to draw a pumpkin with colored pencils. This is a very exciting stage of drawing! There is only one principle here: first we put a light shade, then a dark one and make a smooth transition using an intermediate color. Since the pumpkin is the central element of our composition, let's start with it. We put the first layer, it will not be dense. For the pumpkin, use color 314, for the eyes, mouth, nose - 307. Next, work with shade 309, put it on the lighter areas near the eyes and nose. Shade 314 is placed as a second layer on the darker ones around the “face” of the pumpkin. So we get another layer. The border between the colors will be hard for now, you should not be afraid of this, then we will smooth it out. With each new layer, the color of the pumpkin will become richer and more even.
Step 4: Adding Colored Pencils to the Pumpkin
Now let's add some color accents to our pumpkin. To do this, we take a red pencil 316, we will use it quite a bit in dark places. With this color we will work only on the top and bottom of our pumpkin, so that it looks more picturesque. In parallel, with a 314 pencil, we soften the border between red and orange, thereby putting another layer of color in the center of our pumpkin. Next, add red-brown color 392. Just like with red, we work on dark areas with it, with the only difference that we add a little more of it. Smooth out the border with orange 314. If you notice that there are some uneven areas, you can additionally put a couple of layers of yellow 309. In the areas of the eyes, nose and mouth, use orange more intensively to further highlight these areas.
Step 5: Working on the details on the pumpkin with colored pencils
At this stage, we will work on the remaining details of the pumpkin: eyes, mouth and nose. In the center of the eye we put a layer of light yellow shade 307, use orange 314 along the edges, with the help of 309 yellow we align the border between the colors. For the bottom of the eye we use orange 314. We also introduce a new brown color 387, add it to the corners of the eyes and soften the transition with orange. Use red-brown 392 in the corners of the eyes, do not forget to soften the transition with color 314. You can also add 1-2 more layers of yellow 309 to make the eye look even brighter. Now, in exactly the same way, paint over the remaining eyes, mouth and nose.
Step 6: Draw Candles With Colored Pencils
Now let's work on the candles. We take shades of light yellow 307 and light brown 383. With color 307 we paint over the candle flame and wax smudges. Color 383 paint over the entire candle in one layer. Next, take orange 314 and add it to those places where we already have yellow, and just a little bit on the candle itself to add picturesqueness. Now let's take the dark brown color 378, use it to work on the dark areas of the candle - the shadows under the wax smudges, the bottom of the candle. With the help of light brown 383 smooth the border between the colors on the candle. We take yellow 309, we smooth the border on the candle flame and on wax smudges with it. Next, paint the rest of the candles in the same way. When all the candles are ready, we take dark brown 378 and red-brown 392 to add quite a bit of color accents to our candles. I paint only in dark places.

We can draw it on paper by learning how to draw a pumpkin for Halloween. She will be wearing a black magic hat, which revived her for this holiday.
Tools and materials:
- White sheet of paper;
- Simple pencil;
