Cast sculptures from Dasha Namdakov. Dashi Namdakov: “If there are miracles in the world, then they certainly happened to me An exhibition of a sculptor, khu

Dashi Namdakov is a Russian sculptor, artist, jeweler, member Union of Artists of Russia.

His works are made in the technique of artistic casting, forging and mixed media. The master's favorite materials are silver, gold, bronze, copper, wood, horsehair, mammoth tusk.

2012 was marked by the installation of the monumental sculpture "Genghis Khan" by the master Dashi Namdakov in the center of London. The statue depicts Genghis Khan in the armor of a medieval Mongol warrior, with his arms outstretched to the sides, in a state of deep reflection.

The unveiling of the sculpture preceded a large exhibition of works by Dashi Namdakov at the Helsion Gallery in London.

Sculptures, jewelry miniatures, graphics - in all this one can see his original style, unlike any other, which is based on elements of national culture, traditions of Central Asia, Buddhist motifs. And at the same time, his work is clear to everyone, as if there is something in his work that touches the most delicate strings of the soul of a person of any nationality.

Priestess. Mistress of the taiga.

Dashi was born in 1967 in the small village of Ukurik in the Chita region in a large family of a craftsman.
Dasha's father was known in the village as a man who knew how to make literally everything with his own hands - furniture, metal door handles, and carpets. His wooden sculptures of Buddhist deities and tangkas - Buddhist icons - were installed in monasteries. Therefore, from childhood, helping their father, the children learned different crafts, knew how to make things using different materials.

Dashi starts working in the workshop of the Buryat sculptor G.G.Vasiliev in Ulan-Ude, where he hones his skills in working with different materials. Then in 1988 he entered the Krasnoyarsk Art Institute.

Running

After graduating from the institute in 1992, Dashi returns to Ulan-Ude, where he continues to work. In 2000, after the first solo exhibition in Irkutsk, it became clear that a new name had appeared in the art world - Dashi Namdakova. The exhibition made a splash in the art establishment. This was followed by successful exhibitions in other cities of Russia, successful shows abroad.

"Images often visit me at night," says Dashi, "when consciousness is in a borderline state between the real world and the world inhabited by illusions and spirits." Dasha scrupulously puts these visions on paper so as not to forget, and then skillfully transfers what she saw to another material - bronze, silver.

Bukha-Noyon

Dasha's sculptures come from distant worlds. From there, where there is no boundary between man and the universe, everything is there - particles of the universe, occupying a niche prepared for everyone in an endless stream of universal transformations. This is how the East perceives this world - finding beauty in its integrity and fragile harmony, fearing to destroy the order established by the Almighty with an awkward movement.

Grand Champion

From here, shamans appear in Dasha's works, who still play an important role in the life of modern Buryats. The wisdom of things seen by Dasha pierces all his works.

His warriors, tired of the war, do not seem like inhuman barbarians, but are filled with wisdom and greatness. Dasha's women are seductive and sensual in an earthly way, but at the same time she bashfully turns away from the artist deprived of modesty. If you look closely at a resting fallow deer, is it possible not to see a sleeping girl in it? Beauty surrounds us, wherever we are, but not everyone can see it.

What was worth, in its time, at least, an exhibition that simply “blew my brain”) and released a lot of unconscious and deep archetypal experiences and emotions from contact with exquisite masterpieces of Thracian jewelry art. So it is here - like an exhibition as an exhibition, but when I accidentally saw its announcement, something unconscious instantly formed into a firm conviction that we must go immediately. I usually listen to such spontaneous messages from my unconscious, because I already know very well that if I catch such a message immediately and follow it without thinking, I will definitely get something important for myself and my reverent knowledge of this World. That's what happened in this show...

The only thing that should be said is that the Exhibition “Nomad. Between Heaven and Earth" is a bizarre mixture of two exhibitions - it exhibits exhibits of the Historical Museum, covering the theme of the ancient cultures of the steppes of Eurasia and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the department of archaeological monuments of the museum and intertwined with it a personal exhibition of Dashi Namdakov, who presented at this, without exaggeration , a status and solid exhibition platform, his personal exhibition of sculpture, graphics and jewelry.

It should immediately be noted, though logical, but still, a strange way of exhibiting the exhibition as a whole. The sculpture of Dashi Namdakov is exhibited both at the exhibition itself and partially scattered in five halls of the Historical Museum of the Department of Archeology on the ground floor. "Nomad" takes place in a separate new exhibition hall with an entrance through an isolated entrance, and in order to see all the sculptures of Dashi Namdakov, you will have to take another ticket to visit the main exposition of the museum. A rather discouraging decision, but then I realized what was the matter - the exhibition of exhibits of the Historical Museum itself is compact and not large, and against the background of Dasha's wonderful and large-scale works, it would look small ...
02.

When you enter the exhibition hall “Nomad. Between Heaven and Earth ”- you see, basically, only the sculptures of Dashi Namdakov and you may be slightly surprised by this external image of the exposition, especially if you came to see only ancient artifacts from the museum’s collection. However, I will dedicate, and therefore let's now touch the work of this amazing and, as it turned out, artist close to me in spirit.

The Asian theme in contemporary art is not new, but not in relation to Dashi Namdakov. Summarizing the photo material after the exhibition, I could not figure out for myself how to write about this amazing sculpture and this artist, which do not fit into any of the usual accepted styles. At first, I hastily ranked Dashi as a surrealist, labeling him as the Buryat Dali, but everything turned out to be not so simple. Remembering my impressions of each of his works and looking again and again at the pictures taken from the exhibition, I could not get rid of the feeling that all the characters, who basically underwent bizarre transformations and transmutations in the imagination and process of this artist’s creativity, exist and live, at least somewhere and in other dimensions and worlds, but in reality. This unusual discovery prompted me to try to get to know this man better and delve into his biography, and then much became clear to me.

It turned out that he was from an ancient family of Darkhans - a caste of blacksmiths-jewelers, craftsmen working with fire - the divine element, a symbol of chosenness. Darkhans possessed the highest knowledge, passed down from generation to generation. They were responsible for the world in which they lived. or. Dasha's father revealed to him this fantastic and subtle world of the Steppe, the Sayan Mountains, the amazing and mysterious Baikal, the versatility of his craft, which is completely filled with the world of spirits, feelings and the immediate joy of creativity.

Dasha's creations come from the visible embodiment of his special worldview, keeping the deep infinity of being, archaic Scythian images, where the cultures and events of the past do not disappear without a trace, but continue to simultaneously interact with us and retain their significance and messages. In his sculptures lives the spirit of his land, the forces of nature in which he grew up. They have a deep mystery that not everyone can unravel, but it is impossible not to feel their energy and beauty.

I was even at a loss where to start examining the exhibits - from the "Nomad" or from the works of Dasha, but then everything somehow calmed down by itself, and with an unusual feeling of excitement and sincere curiosity, I examined both the ancient steppe artifacts and the graphics and sculpture of the artist .

Having got used to it, at a certain moment, I began to feel the descending bewitching haze of the Steppe. It became calm, measured, The steppe inexorably penetrated into all the particles of my soul. For a while, I just stood there and enjoyed the almost real feeling of being among these endless expanses... The photo of the Buryat steppes, dense crimson sunsets, peacefully grazing horses and nomads on their mighty rearing horses also contributes to the context. These are shots from the film "Mongol", where Dashi acted as the main production designer, including, of course, costumes. And large semicircular panoramic photo panels are built as a stylized nomad's yurt. Restrained audio accompaniment adds disturbing and at the same time harmonious musical sounds and the characteristic throaty sacred singing of shamans and the rhythmic sounds of their tambourines to the general background... The steppe was approaching, and I was dissolving in it...

I will note in advance one significant and a little sad fact - the lighting at the exhibition is as always, to put it mildly, restrained, sculptures and jewelry are in soft darkness, everything is mysterious, in general - between heaven and earth ...) But to take a high-quality photo in such conditions, yes it’s extremely difficult without a flash and a tripod, and therefore don’t blame me for some graininess of the subjects and distorted broken background light, especially for small jewelry.

The overall composition of the exhibition is well developed. At first I thought that there was quite a lot of free space here, but then I understood the intention of the exhibition's author - it was necessary to show these steppe expanses and give a feeling of immersion in their wonderful bewitching context.

The central place in this sculptural composition is occupied by an amazing stylized figure of a naked nomadic maiden with arms folded on her chest like steppe Polovtsian women, once abundantly placed by the ancestors of nomads across the expanses of the Eurasian steppes. She touchingly holds a small bird in her hands and looks at it lovingly.

06.

The unusual reddish-ocher patinated color of the bronze evokes a slight bewitching sensation from the sculpture. It's called "Madonna with a Bird". 2011. The image of the Buryat nomad - a careful keeper embodying the fragile beauty of eternal life and the piercing essence of the impulses of the steppe soul of her people.
07.

At the very entrance to the exhibition is the sculpture "Amazon" made of blackened bronze. 2010 Before us is a bust portrait of a beautiful woman, on whose head is a helmet in the form of a grinning panther's head. This is an exalted image of Queen Tomiris, the leader of the warlike nomadic Saks who lived in the Kazakh and Ural steppes in the 4th-5th centuries, under whose leadership the scattered nomadic tribes first united into a single state.
08.

She became famous for her feats of arms and cunning strategy, which allowed her to defeat the powerful Persian king Cyrus. Surely the Greek myths about the Amazons have their roots in eyewitness accounts of their battles with the warriors of this beautiful and spiritualized queen.

Minotaur. 2010 Unusual mysterious exciting sculpture of a bull with a third eye in the forehead. The mythological image of the Minotaur has something in common with Dashi Namdakov, with the progenitor bull from the Buryat legends, which carries the power of the first ancestors and a powerful epic sound.
10.

According to an ancient legend, the image of a bull is associated with the theme of the arrival of spring and fertility. The spring ceremony of honoring him is similar to the procession of the Apis bull in ancient Egypt, which expressed the hope for a good harvest. In addition, according to the beliefs of many peoples, this powerful sacred animal drives out any evil spirits.
11.

The totem bull is an archetypal motif for human culture as a whole, and its image is solved by a compositional allusion to Paleolithic images from the Altamira cave, the oldest monument of fine art.
12.

The mythical bull Bukha-Noyon, the totem ancestor of the Buryat tribes Bulagats and Ekhirits, in ancient legends acts as the personification of the power of the good western tengri, embodied in a gray bull fighting with a motley bull, a product of the evil forces of the eastern tengri.
Tengri is the cult of the Sky of the Turkic tribes.
13.

In the work of Dashi Namdakov, there are many zoomorphic motifs of a mythical nature. The "Queen" of 2001 is also associated with the art of the Ancient East. A panther or lioness, with an elongated elastic body, full of power and feline grace, with relief muscles under smooth skin, is the embodiment of royal grandeur.

The head of the beast turned to the front resembles zoomorphic images of ancient Iran or murals of oriental ancient ceramics of the 7th century BC. BC. The majestic calmness of the whole figure and the frozen moment of the expression of her muzzle come into unexpected contrast with the position of the tail, which, like a whip whistling in the air, soars over a powerful body, thereby introducing into the image a hint of formidable and impetuous force.
14.

It is in this place that it is also appropriate to talk about the famous "Keeper" (2003), which was presented as a gift to the Historical Museum by Dashi Namdakov and will precede (guard) the halls of the ancient history of the museum. This image, of course, was inspired by the mythological fantastic images of the culture of the Ancient East and the European Middle Ages, personifying frightening protection. The first thing that comes to mind for some reason is that this is a warlike and slightly demonic incarnation of a she-wolf who nursed Remus and Romulus, who founded Rome.
15.

16.

The sculpture of the "Guardian" is placed in a corner next to the arch in front of the Sarmatian hall and is a little lost in this place, however, the power, the archetypal strength of this creature guarding its dwelling is large-scale and irresistible. The sculpture exudes unrestrained violent animal power that pierces space and time. Definitely a must see!...
17.

“Horse Mode” (2004) by Dashi is associated with a beautiful legend about the beloved war horse of Khan Mode (234-179), the founder of the Xiongnu empire, for whom the horse was a dear friend and comrade-in-arms. This horse fell victim to the khan's achievement of power and an example of unquestioning obedience to his warriors: Mode fired the first arrow at his beloved horse. Those of the warriors who did not follow his example, considering it unreasonable to destroy such a magnificent animal, were immediately executed by the khan. Mode sent the second arrow to his beloved wife. And the soldiers who did not dare to repeat his actions were also executed. When, during the hunt, the khan directed his shot at his father, with whom Mode fought for power, all the soldiers without hesitation fired their arrows at the old khan. This concept of unquestioning obedience to the will of the military leader was the basis of the ideology of all militant Eurasian nomads and therefore also referred to the history of the era of Genghis Khan.

The craftsman deliberately emphasizes in this exhibit the antiquity of the image of the legendary horse, imitating greenish traces of copper oxidation and highlighting its broken limbs ... Even with a torn bridle and broken legs, he is nevertheless beautiful, majestic and full of meaning, like an authentic object of admiration, careful preservation.
18.

The theme of the rider and his horse can rightfully be called the leitmotif of Dashi Namdakov's work. The brightest decisions and professional achievements of the artist are associated with it.

"Element". 1999 This early sculpture by Dashi Namdakov is made in a conditionally realistic manner and reveals the image of the air element as one of the cosmogonic elements. In the author's mind, it is associated with the figure of a horse flying in a swift gallop.

The composition of the work fully corresponds to the chosen topic. The animal is flattened in a horizontal plane, the head is maximally stretched forward, the ears are pressed, the mane is thrown to the side by the oncoming wind. The muscles are tense to the limit and with their relief create the main plastic pattern of the body.

This sculpture, according to some information, is in the personal collection of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Centaur with stone". year 2009. The image of the Centaur Dasha retains the wild primitive energy, but is endowed with vivid feelings and original fantastic attributes. Before us is a new world created by the imagination of the artist. His Centaur with a stone is a rebel, whose main weapon is just rage, the power of resistance to encroachments on his independence and self-esteem.
21.

It is unusual to see this dynamic mythological sculpture in isolation from the main composition of the exhibition, especially in the background). However, this and many other sculptures of Dasha are of significant size and definitely ask for large spacious halls, which was done by the authors of the exhibition.
22.

"General". 2010 A character of the ancient history of nomadic tribes, this warrior is dressed in a stylized national costume, endowed with weapons and attributes of power. He is real, but lives in our world as an alien from the past.
23.

Squat figures, mask-like ascetic faces radiating powerful energy of transformation - such are the representatives of the vast gallery of Dashi Namdakov's warriors. At the same time, the artist makes the viewer feel the connection of this hero with Don Quixote, creating the necessary associations with a few masterly strokes.
24.

"Rider". year 2000. The favorite motif of a battle or hunting an animal, when the rider sees the target and is ready to hit it, allows the sculptor to demonstrate the most striking features of his plastic talent in this work.
25.

The author's style of Dashi Namdakov is marked by the desire to accurately convey the characteristic "ethnic" nuances of the character's plasticity.
26.

"Rich Bride", 1998. The plot of the sculptural composition "The Rich Bride" is borrowed from the traditional life of nomads. The young steppe woman, turning her head, obviously pleased with her dowry, looks at her chest, attached to the rump of a small stocky horse, waiting for her fiance. Feeling the mood of the hostess, the horse dances on the go, raising its head to the sky.
27.

The emotional unity of man and nature is in perfect harmony and anticipation of a new happy life.
28.

"Warrior with a Falcon". 2010 This brutal character also guards the hall of the Sarmatians in the general exposition of the museum. The falcon, used in traditional Mongol hunting and combat, is frozen on its master's hand in suspense for a swift and deadly flight.

Historians believe that at least sixty thousand people participated in falconry of the Mongols. This bright rite served as a demonstration of the combat readiness and strength of the army.

Here, in the next room, sits the "Great Champion". year 2001.
30.

Something else from the main exhibition.

"Steppe Nefertiti". year 2001. Ancient civilizations have left us a rich cultural heritage. The Egyptian Queen Nefertiti is still the universally recognized ideal of female beauty. The exquisite stylization of this image, skillfully executed by the artist, gives rise to a new beautiful standard of Mongolian femininity, grace and tenderness. The bronze sculptural portrait seems to be the embodiment of harmony, in which female plasticity is combined with the charming angularity of youth, the geometry of ovals and smooth lines - with the cone-shaped long neck and the triangle of the face.

The print of reflection and hidden feeling hidden in the closed eyes of an elongated slit gives this image the character of a mystery, reveals the magic of oriental beauty.

"Scull". 2005 year. Silver. The skull occupies a special place in the culture of nomads, and especially in shamanism as a belief in the spirits of ancestors - it is in the skull that the receptacle of their spirit is located. This stylized skull harmoniously coexists in one showcase with a bear skull, which was used by shamans during sacred rituals.

"Saber Warrior". 2002 From the Warriors series.
37.

On the example of these graphic works, one can imagine how the characters of Dashi Namdakov are gradually born and how they were embodied in bronze.
38.

Dashi Namdakov also works with jewelry. There are not many of them at the exhibition - only one stand, which is located next to the stand with similar ancient jewelry. Let's take a closer look at his work, inspired by archaeological finds of ancient nomad jewelry.
39.

"Arsalan". 2004 Gold, casting, chasing, stones. Arsalan - in Buryat "Lion".

Well, what can I say!? The exhibition was amazing! And this is probably not the right word to try to convey my many-sided feelings. It was as if I penetrated the dimensions of space, time, looking out of the corner of my eye into the inner world of this wonderful artist, sculptor, graphic artist, jeweler, and, undoubtedly, an initiate and a magician.

The whirlpool of images of Dashi Namdakov captured me, so much so that until now his characters, his heroes, his shadows, his warriors, his ancestors, his symbolic and mythological characters clothed with a fantastic reality and delightful living plastic. It only remains for me to wish you to be at this exhibition and "live" to experience this wonderful phenomenon and the abyss of the archetypal and phantasmagoric worlds of the Master.

In conclusion, some information and links about Dashi Namdakov himself, which did not fit into the fabric of my story in LiveJournal. I must say that in fact the Master has a lot of works and it’s worth, nevertheless, digging on the Internet in order to better imagine his work:

Official site of Dashi Namdakov. Good quality resource. Very worthy photographs and high rich art history text accompanying both the main introductory article about Dashi Namdakov and his fantastic works.

Cast sculptures by Dashi Namdakov. A wonderful detailed essay about the artist, his childhood, formation, studies, teacher, successes and the Path of the Master. And also here are collected a lot of photos of his sculptural works.

Dashi Namdakov - a man who created himself - About Dashi Namdakov, and here is a list of the artist's personal exhibitions. By the way, the exhibition “Nomad. Between Heaven and Earth" in the State Historical Museum is the 50th in a row, which is also a kind of Dasha's anniversary and a significant and significant gift for him.

Dashi Namdakov - Sculptor with the soul of a nomad. A wonderful selection of works in LiveInternet based on materials from his official site, but nevertheless, the author turned out to be very rich and successful.

Dashi Namdakov (Dashinim Balzhanovich Namdakov) (b. 1967, the village of Ukurik, Chita Region) is a Russian sculptor, artist, jeweler, member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

Dashi Namdakov was born in the Buryat village of Ukurik, in Transbaikalia. Full name - Dashinim ("Dashi Nima") - "Lucky Sun". He was the sixth child in the large family of Balzhan and Buda-Khanda Namdakov, who had eight children.

The family of D. B. Namdakov belongs to an ancient respected family - blacksmiths-darkhans "darkhate". These families have always produced the best jewelers, craftsmen and artists. Only they were allowed to work with fire, the sacred symbol of the chosen.

By religion, Namdakov is a Buddhist. The artist's father carved Buddhist symbols, figures of lamas and deities from wood.

Buddhism is deeply reflected in Dasha's work. When asked what role Buddhism plays in his work, he replied that, as a Buddhist, it was even strange for him to hear such a question. On the wall of the datsan in St. Petersburg there is a marble plaque-bas-relief in memory of the first rector of the temple, made by the artist. The traditional images of his works are immediately visible - these are nomads, warriors and horsemen, sacred figures, magical women, patrons of the Buryats: totem animals and mythological creatures. The viewer is presented with deformed, curved, elongated characters with disproportionate parts of the body, for example, elongated necks and elongated limbs. Almost all of them have Asian facial features.

Until the age of seven, Namdakov did not speak Russian, he lived in the house of his ancestors. In this regard, he later noted:
“I had a full-fledged rich world, just a gigantic one, which was saturated with all kinds of spirits, animals, creatures. And when I went to school, they told me: “The whole world fits in this sheet, throw everything else out of your head. It's your sick imagination." And the world shrank into this leaf. I am 44 years old and all my life I have been fighting how to get rid of this sheet that limits me, I owe everything that I can to my parents, to my homeland. »

Dashi Namdakov began working in the workshop of the Buryat sculptor G. G. Vasiliev in the city of Ulan-Ude. In 1988, he entered the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute, studied with artists and sculptors L. N. Golovnitsky (who came to Siberia from Leningrad to teach), and Yu. P. Ishkhanov. After graduating from the institute as an external student, he returned to Ulan-Ude.

In the 1990s Dashi Namdakov opened a small jewelry workshop in Ulan-Ude. “This money and part of the salary of my wife, who then worked at Sberbank,” he later recalled, “we spent on bronze. But casting from this material is a whole technology. It is impossible to do this alone - people who need to be paid a salary are needed. In general, I think that we would have much more sculptors if it were possible to organize this process more simply.”

According to Dasha, the results of this exhibition were a big surprise for him. Before her, he believed that his art was interesting only to the Buryats and Mongols, residents of the Irkutsk and Chita regions, but nothing more. And it was after this vernissage that Dasha's creative fate went up sharply: he moved to Moscow, his exhibitions are regularly held in Europe and Asia, in America.

The works of D. B. Namdakov are made in the technique of artistic casting, forging and mixed media. The works are made of bronze, silver, gold, copper, precious stones, as well as bone (mammoth tusk), horse hair and wood. Sculpture, jewelry, graphics and tapestries have a pronounced unique author's style, which is based on elements of national culture, traditions of Central Asia, and Buddhist motifs.

The works of Dashi Namdakov are kept in the collections of the State Hermitage Museum, the Russian Museum of Ethnography in St. Petersburg, the Museum of Oriental Art, the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, in museums in many countries of the world, including the Tibet House (New York) and Art Museum (Guangzhou, China). Sculptures are in private collections of V. V. Putin (“Elements”), M. Sh. Shaimiev (“Horseman”), Yu. M. Luzhkov, R. A. Abramovich (“Evening”, “Old Warrior”), others representatives of the elite of Russian politics and business, as well as in private collections in Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Japan, USA, Taiwan. The works of D. B. Namdakov are possessed by such famous and influential people as different in character as Gerhard Schroeder, country music star Willie Nelson, and actress Uma Thurman. On April 14, 2012, a monumental sculpture of Genghis Khan by Dashi Namdakov was installed in London. Sculptures by D. B. Namdakov "Masks" and "Actor" were the prizes of the All-Russian Festival of Modern Drama. Vampilov (Irkutsk, 2002, 2003), and the sculpture "The Owner" - the International Documentary Film Festival in Irkutsk (2002). In 2003 he was awarded the silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Since 2004, D. B. Namdakov has been living and working in Moscow.

In 2007, he provided art design for the film Mongol. In March 2008, D. B. Namdakov received the “Nika-2008” award “for the best work of the artist” in this film, as well as the “White Elephant”.

On July 30, 2008, the sculptor's workshop was robbed (moreover, they took away not only jewelry, but also molds for making them). “Everything that we had accumulated in five years,” D. B. Namdakov claimed, “was taken away in one night. Some people, of course, got very rich - God bless them. At first we had a panic, but then we calmed down. After all, it was not only my work, but also my colleagues - jewelers and stone craftsmen. But we set the task and completed the collection again on time.”

Dashi Namdakov lives and works in Eastern Siberia, not far from the natural wonder - the beautiful Lake Baikal.

Dashi was born in 1967 in a small village in the Chita region in a large family of a craftsman.

Dashi grew up in this atmosphere from early childhood, and therefore, by the time he grew up, he already knew how to do a lot with his own hands. But circumstances so developed that at the age of 15 Dasha suddenly became very ill, and for a long 7 years all visits to doctors did not bring any result. The young man was on the verge of death.

In the end, the parents ended up with a shaman, who explained the cause of illnesses and ailments by saying that people forgot their roots, stopped remembering their ancestors, remembering their names. The shaman performed her ritual. Incredibly, the pain subsided immediately. And after 7 days, Dasha was in another city and was looking for a job. That shaman predicted success for him, because Dasha had the ability to see the beauty of the surrounding things and embody it in her works.

Dashi starts working in the workshop of the Buryat sculptor G.G.Vasiliev in Ulan-Ude, where he hones his skills in working with different materials. Then in 1988 he entered the Krasnoyarsk Art Institute. Famous artists - L.N. Golovnitsky, Yu.P. Ishkhanov, A.Kh. Boyarlin, E.I. Pakhomov became his mentors.

Best of the day

From here, shamans appear in Dasha's works, who still play an important role in the life of modern Buryats. The wisdom of things seen by Dasha pierces all his works. His warriors, tired of the war, do not seem like inhuman barbarians, but are filled with wisdom and greatness. Dasha's women are seductive and sensual in an earthly way, but at the same time she bashfully turns away from the artist deprived of modesty. If you look closely at a resting fallow deer, is it possible not to see a sleeping girl in it? Beauty surrounds us, wherever we are, but not everyone can see it.

"Perceive the world as it is, for its creator is wiser than you," Dasha's sculptures say, "then true beauty will be revealed to you."

The works of Dashi Namdakov, thanks to an amazing combination of innovation and ancient traditions of Buryatia, unusual plasticity and exceptional craftsmanship, were acquired for the personal collections of the first persons of Russia, including the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin.

The viewer is presented with deformed, curved, elongated characters with disproportionate parts of the body, for example, elongated necks and elongated limbs. Almost all of them have Asian facial features.
Tsoi A. Dashi Namdakov conquered the State Hermitage Hermitage / / New Buryatia. - 2010. - March 1.

In 2000, the first personal exhibition of Dashi Namdakov was held in Irkutsk.
