However, they regularly burned through the ropes, falling on the tables, so for the filming of subsequent films, it was decided to add them using computer graphics.
The general layout of Hogwarts was filmed using a 1:24 scale model of the castle. 86 artists participated in its creation. The basis was a sketch by Stuart Craig, one of the designers who worked on the film. The model came out the size of a large room, which was made using real stone and real plants (for the surrounding landscape). In the film, all the details of this model appear more than once: towers, courtyards, a playing field and others.
During the filming of the Hogwarts moving staircase scenes, one real staircase and a small model of the many stairs were used. The actors were filmed on a single moving staircase, and the rest were added after filming.
The holiday in the movie "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is probably remembered by many as tables bursting with many dishes. Although most of the "food" was made from dyed resin, there were also edible items on the tables for the crew members to treat themselves to.
Harry Potter's room in Gryffindor changes from film to film: set designers filled it with sports posters, prizes for winning competitions - everything that the characters were supposed to like. But the beds remained the same, so towards the end of the filming of the last film, the grown-up actors were forced to curl up so that their legs did not hang down.
Dumbledore's office was decorated quite intricately: several hundred books were wrapped in leather bindings, 48 portraits of "former directors" of the school of magic were hung on the walls. The office in which Dumbledore showed Harry Potter his memories was adorned with over 800 tiny vials, each labeled by hand.
The Potions classroom grew in size from movie to movie: the frames had to be expanded to accommodate the new parts. Glass bottles were filled with everything that was possible: from feathers to bones and giblets obtained from local butchers.

To make Hagrid look like a giant, they found an understudy with a height of 2 m 10 cm. He also had two huts: one larger so that Harry and the company were “normal” in comparison to her background, and the other smaller so that next to her Hagrid seemed huge .

The game of Quidditch is the result of the collaboration between the special effects and visual effects teams. The brooms were hung against a green screen, which the visual effects team would then replace with a digital image. Several balls (snitches) with wings were made (of different types), but in the end the director chose the golden version.
The animals that participated in the filming were run by a specially created team of specialists who trained all the four-legged "actors" who participated in the filming of all eight films. The role of the owl Harry (Hedwig) was played by four different birds, trained in their own special tricks, the Scabbers rat was played by as many as 12 rodents. The role of Crookshanks, Hermione's favorite, was played by four cats, and Fang, Hagrid's mastiff, had as many as nine "understudies".
Voldemort's face is half human, half digital. Ralph Fiennes donated his face to make-up artists to make temporary vein tattoos on it. To change the appearance, it was also necessary to insert contact lenses, glue on fake eyebrows, teeth and nails, and digital effects specialists replaced the actor's nose with snake-like slits.
Weasley's shop "All kinds of magical wreckers" was built within 3 months. Then it was furnished with more than 120 different designer pieces. The Ollivander family's wand shop was furnished with 17,000 custom-made cases, each individually marked.
The Diagon Alley where Harry Potter got his wand has changed from movie to movie. It was built based on the works of Charles Dickens, but taking into account the descriptions from the Harry Potter books.
