Eurovision 2014. Denmark

59th Eurovision Song Contest took place in Denmark from 6 to 10 May. The Danish national broadcaster DR announced on September 2, 2013 that the song contest was held in Copenhagen, in the B&W halls, which are located on the Refhaleøen square on the island of Amager. The slogan for this year's contest, "Join Us", was approved by the EBU and the reference group. The symbol of Eurovision 2014 was a blue-blue diamond.

AT 2014 the winner of the competition unexpectedly for everyone - and for himself too - was a 25-year-old singer from Austrian Thomas Neuwirth who performed under the stage name. In she with a song "Rise Like a Phoenix" scored 290 points, 52 points ahead of the closest competitor - The Common Linnets duo from the Netherlands, who scored 238 points.

This is Austria's second victory in Eurovision(the first happened far away). as a whole turned out to be the strongest in recent years. The last 10 years to Eurovision there was a lot of criticism, and some countries seemed to deliberately send frankly second-rate artists to the competition. AT 2014 competition demonstrated a desire to part with the reputation of the Eurotrash collection, earned in the early 2000s – and this time, real deeds became visible behind these ambitions.

Thomas Neuwirth- Austrian singer of non-traditional sexual orientation, who, with the help of his stage image of a bearded woman, fights for tolerance and equality of all people, regardless of their appearance.

This image is three years old; Neuwirth as wurst- a bearded and stylishly dressed vamp woman - could go another one, but took second place at the national selection.

The musician himself separates himself and the singer he created - this is how, however, all artists who work with characters of a different (and their own) gender do. You can recall, for example, Verka Serduchka, who was invented with and who in this image recorded albums, starred in films, represented his country at Eurovision 2007 and even took second place there.

The choice of Europe can hardly be considered demonstrative - objectively, despite the beard, she was the most feminine of the artists participating in the competition this year, and had perhaps the most outstanding vocal abilities in comparison with other contestants.

When the invaders come...
They break into your house
They kill everyone
And they say:
"We are not to blame
not guilty."
Where is your mind?
Humanity is crying.

You think you are gods.
But everyone dies.
Don't consume my soul.
Our souls

I couldn't enjoy my youth

We could build the future
Where the people are free
To live and love.
Happy time.
Where is your heart?
Humanity, get up!

you think you are gods
But everyone dies.
Don't consume my soul.
Our souls
I couldn't enjoy my youth
I couldn't live on this earth
I couldn't enjoy my youth
I could not live on this earth.

"Eurovision"

Eurovision has been held annually since 1956. Russia first took part in the contest in 1994 and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 when singer Dima Bilan took first place. According to the rules, Eurovision 2017 will be held in Ukraine, the home country of the winner of Eurovision 2016.

Countries that are members of the European Broadcasting Union or the Council of Europe can participate in the competition. The states located in Asia also participate in the competition: Israel and Cyprus (they send participants to the competition almost annually from the beginning of participation), as well as partially located in Europe and Asia: Armenia, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Non-European and non-EMU or CoE Australia has been participating since 2015.

Yesterday, May 14, the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 ended in Stockholm. All of Europe, with bated breath, voted for their favorite participants from various countries. The winner was the Ukrainian singer Jamala, who performed under the 21st number with the song "1944". This composition tells the story of her family's deportation from Crimea in the middle of the last century. The Ukrainian star, who could hardly hold back her tears on stage, received a standing ovation from the audience.
