Composition based on the painting by V. Vasnetsov “Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf”.

In the foreground, we see how the gray wolf is carrying Ivan Tsarevich and Elena the Beautiful on the back. They rush from Koshchei the Deathless through a dark dense forest. Elena the Beautiful is wearing a beautiful blue dress with an orange hem. Her hair was tousled by the wind. The prince in an embroidered gold camisole with a green sash. He gently holds Elena's hand. The princess was tired from the long journey and fell asleep on the chest of Ivan Tsarevich.

On the path of the wolf there are thickets of thorny bushes that prevent him from running. Old huge trees grow in this dense forest. The rays of the sun cannot break through the dense crowns, so this forest is seen as dark and dense.

I loved it.

We know and love fairy tales from early childhood. In fairy tales, there are brave heroes who are helped by animals and various forces of nature.

Here in this picture we see an episode from a Russian folk tale about Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf. Before us is an impenetrable thicket of a dense dark forest. In this dense forest, we see mighty old trees through which sunlight barely breaks through. Everything is dark in the forest. Against the backdrop of a dark forest, the artist depicted Ivan Tsarevich and his bride riding the Gray Wolf.

This is one of the last episodes of the fairy tale, when the Gray Wolf helped Ivan Tsarevich and the beautiful bride escape from the chase.

(Strigunov Denis)

Before us is a picture of Ivan Tsarevich and a gray wolf. It depicts: Ivan Tsarevich, Vasilisa the Beautiful, the Gray Wolf. They run away from the chase. The artist depicted the forest in dark colors to reflect the tension of the chase, their experience and fear that they might be overtaken. Ivan Tsarevich looks around to see what is behind him. The gray wolf runs at full speed, ears tucked in. He knows that everyone's life depends on him. Vasilisa the Beautiful believes her friends. The forest is depicted not quite dark, a bright sky peeps through it. This means that everything will end well.

I liked this picture.

V. Vasnetsov painted a picture for the fairy tale “Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf.” In a fragment of this picture, we see how Ivan Tsarevich freed Elena the Beautiful from captivity with the help of the Gray Wolf, galloping through a dark dense forest. We see that Elena the Beautiful is very frightened, and clung to Ivan Tsarevich.

Thick tree trunks indicate that the forest is old, the trees are tall, so it is dark in the forest. The gray wolf stuck out his tongue. He has been riding for a long time and it is hard for him to carry his riders.

I read a fairy tale and I know that the fairy tale will end well.

(Gogina Polina)

There are huge pine trees in the age-old dense forest. The dark forest keeps its age-old secrets. There are many animals and birds in the forest. Ivan the Tsarevich rides on a wild magic wolf with Vasilisa the Beautiful. She is as beautiful as the first spring flowers. Her hair is like sunshine. The sun is invisible among the pines. And the grass seems to be black and green. Amid this black darkness, the beauty of the princess is visible.

I liked the picture.

(Studennikova Daria)

The leaves in the field turned yellow

And spin and fly;

Only in the forest drooped spruce

Greenery is gloomy.

Beast brave in captivity

Hurry to hide somewhere.

Dark dense forest. Ivan Tsarevich and Vasilisa the Beautiful ride through the forest on the back of a wolf. Vasilisa clung to the chest of Ivan Tsarevich from the cold. Light breaks through the dark thickets of bushes and tree branches. Vasilisa's hair develops from the wind. Yellowed leaves lie on the ground. It's cold in the forest. Sedokov is pierced by fear. So they want to get out as soon as possible.

This picture is a bit sad.

(Mazina Polina)

In the picture I see Vasilisa the Beautiful and Ivan the Tsarevich sitting on a tired wolf. The wolf even stuck out his tongue from thirst. After all, the road was long. In the picture, Vasilisa clung to the chest of Ivan Tsarevich. Riders make their way through a gloomy, old forest. It's scary and dark. A small ray of sun breaks through the old trees. He barely lights the way for the fugitives. Vasilisa is anxious in this forest and she wants to get out as soon as possible.

I read a fairy tale and I think that everything will end well.

(Bredikhina Anastasia)

In this picture, we see how Ivan Tsarevich and Vasilisa the Beautiful are galloping through a dense forest on a gray wolf. Ivan Tsarevich sits confidently on the wolf, tightly pressing Vasilisa the Beautiful to his chest. After a while, Vasilisa fell asleep. The forest is getting darker and thicker. On the path of the prince there are huge branches. Soon Vasilisa woke up, and she became frightened. She is shivering from the cold, because a strong, stormy wind blows right into their faces. Elena's hair was disheveled. She can't look straight because her hair gets in the way. Ivan Tsarevich and Vasilisa the Beautiful are dressed in elegant clothes. I think they rush to their native places.

I think everything is going to be alright.

(Shapinsky Viktor)

When I saw the picture, I immediately recognized the characters of my favorite fairy tale. This tale is about Ivan Tsarevich, the Firebird, the Gray Wolf.

The picture shows the most interesting moment of the tale. A wolf rushes through the dark dense forest, pressing his sharp ears. Everyone is running from the pursuit of the evil king. On the back of the Gray Wolf are Ivan Tsarevich and Elena the Beautiful. The wolf runs very fast. This is noticeable in the hair of Elena the Beautiful. They develop in the wind, clinging to the thick branches of trees. Ivan tightly hugs the princess to himself and carefully looks around the dark, dense forest. Elena the Beautiful is very sad, because she does not want to marry the evil king. And only the calm and confident look of the Gray Wolf suggests that this tale will have a happy ending.

Vasnetsov Viktor Mikhailovich is a wonderful Russian artist. In the skill of writing historical and folklore painting, he has no equal.

The whole world knows such his creations as "Bogatyrs", "Knight at the Crossroads", "Alyonushka". The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf" turned out by the artist, like a revived fairy tale on canvas. It was written according to the plot of a folk tale, when you look at it, you immediately remember your childhood and wonderful stories about fairy tale characters. The main characters look as if they are about to leave the picture and rush into the distance.

Painting by V.M. Vasnetsov "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf": the history of creation

It happens that artists prepare to write their works long before the start of work, look at nature, tune in, so to speak, psychologically, but it happens quite the opposite - spontaneously. Just like that, Vasnetsov's painting "Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf" was not planned. 1889 was an artist intended to work in Kyiv, where he painted the Vladimir Cathedral. Viktor Mikhailovich loved everything folk, so an excerpt from the well-known fairy tale created by the people, “Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf”, was taken as the basis for the plot of the picture. For the sake of its creation, the artist postponed his work in the cathedral. And, as it turned out, not in vain.

This work is one of the best in Russian fine art. On the canvas we see Ivan Tsarevich and Elena the Beautiful on the Gray Wolf, they rush through a terrible forest, running away from their pursuers, flowering trees and a happy future await them ahead.

The main characters of the picture

The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf" presents us with its main characters: the Tsarevich, the Beautiful Elena and their faithful friend the Gray Wolf.

Ivan Tsarevich, sitting astride the Wolf, carefully and at the same time tightly hugs his beloved Elena the Beautiful. He is dressed in an expensive brocade caftan, belted with a green belt, and patterned black gloves are on his hands. The beautiful image of the Tsarevich is complemented by a red cap on his head and red boots. the main character is very serious, with anxious eyes he peers into the distance, worrying about whether the pursuers are catching up with the fugitives. After all, in his arms is his happiness, which he will not give to anyone in the world. A sword is visible behind Ivan Tsarevich, this indicates that the young man is always ready to fight for his love with a sword in his hands.

Elena the Beautiful sits next to her savior. The long hair of the Russian beauty flutters in the wind, which shows that they are rushing at high speed. The girl is dressed in a beautiful light blue silk dress with gold trim on the bottom and sleeves. On Elena's neck are beads made of pearls, she is shod in beautiful morocco boots, and a cap with precious stones flaunts on her head. The beauty bowed her head to her lover's chest, her gaze thoughtful. The girl humbly holds her hands in front of her, this indicates that the fugitive entrusted her life to the Tsarevich. Vasnetsov wrote Elena the Beautiful from his niece, Natalia Mamontova.

The Gray Wolf is depicted rushing forward at great speed, this can be seen throughout his image: his ears are pressed down, his tongue fell out of his mouth, his eyes are full of anxiety and determination, there is no anger in them, a long fluffy tail flutters in the wind. Strong paws hung in the air before the next jump, he must jump over the swamp in front of the heroes. It can be seen that the Gray Wolf is tired and is holding on to the last of his strength to bring home the precious burden.

"Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf": a description of Vasnetsov's painting

The landscape depicted on the canvas emphasizes the anxiety of the fugitives. They rush against the background of the morning dawn, in front of them is a dark swamp, around huge trees, a gray-purple sky is a little visible through them. But all this menacing picture is smoothed out by a blossoming apple tree in front and beautiful marsh water lilies. The apple tree reminds us of the beginning of a fairy tale, because it was from the golden apples that the adventures of the main characters began.

The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf" perfectly reflects the mood of the characters. They are anxious, but at the same time full of hope for a brighter future. The white flowers of the apple tree are in perfect harmony with Elena's outfit. A flowering tree is a symbol of the beginning of a new and beautiful - a new life, a new love ... The picture seems to flicker with a mysterious light, the audience gets the impression of the presence of a fairy-tale miracle and magic.

Viktor Vasnetsov created a fairy tale come to life on canvas

The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf" once again shows the great talent of Viktor Vasnetsov. The master placed the heroes in such a way that the appearance of being alive is created. It seems that in another moment the Gray Wolf, having jumped out of the canvas, will rush into the distance along with his friends.

Fabulous beautiful canvas "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf"! The description of the painting by Vasnetsov is worthy of attention, it displays the struggle of two forces. The contrast of dark gloomy colors with light ones reflects the confrontation between good and evil. Behind the heroes is solid darkness, surrounded by darkness, which makes way for the fugitives, and ahead is a swamp, but not gloomy, but with water lilies and a flowering apple tree. All taken together shows the victory of good over evil.

The fabulous canvas is currently in the State Tretyakov Gallery. Such masterpieces of art must be carefully preserved so that many more generations can admire these works of artists from God.

This picture was painted by Vasnetsov at the age of 38. At this time, Viktor Mikhailovich often thought about the past and the future, what needs to be done, how to live and work in order to fulfill his plan. His position among artists was precarious, although he was praised, but he was sensitive to the fact that the rejection of artists extended precisely to those works where he tried with greater force to express the Russian soul. In these works, he did not think about himself, and for some reason they did not receive the deserved praise, causing cold misunderstanding among colleagues. But the author, of course, did not think about universal approval when he worked on the paintings, there was only one desire, so that, like himself, people would be imbued with love for the marvelous beauty of ancient Rus', accept its history with all their hearts. The artist's painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" was painted in 1889, when the author worked in Kyiv, in the Vladimir Cathedral. In 1888 he interrupted his work and began to paint the painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf". After finishing work on the canvas, the painting was exhibited at a traveling art exhibition. The picture, which is an illustration of the famous Russian fairy tale, depicts the main character, who rushes on the Gray Wolf with Elena the Beautiful through a dark forest, running away from the chase. The image of the tsar was borrowed by Vasnetsov from a study written in 1883 by Savva Mamontov's niece Natalia. In order to fully show the personification of fabulousness in the painting “Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf”, Vasnetsov tried to move away from the realities of life and convey the mysterious spirit of Russian fairy tales, coloring the fantasy world of the people with different colors. And indeed, the action of the picture takes place in a mysterious fairy-tale forest among giant trees against the backdrop of the emerging morning dawn. With huge leaps, the gray wolf carries Elena the Beautiful and Ivan Tsarevich on his back through a dark, gloomy forest, an atmosphere of anxiety and sadness reigns around the fairy-tale characters, Each of them understands that if they are caught up, separation will inevitably follow and their whole being is in fear. And meanwhile, being in the strong hands of her savior, Elena the Beautiful believes that Ivan Tsarevich, who always defeats his enemies, will win this time as well. The wolf, the author showed in the picture mighty and huge. The apple tree blossoming in the foreground, as it were, tells of the beginning of a new love and life.

Do you know the genre of the painting "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf"? Today we will consider this masterpiece by Viktor Vasnetsov in more detail in order to better understand the picture and get used to it. Happiness to those who can admire the masterpiece live.

Viktor Vasnetsov

The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" was presented to us by Viktor Vasnetsov. He was born in 1848 in a small village in the family of a priest. Like his father, the boy studied at the seminary. His first work in the artistic field was the painting of the Vyatka Cathedral, together with the exiled Polish artist Michal Andriolli. It was after this incident that he decided in his firm intention to become an artist. In order to become a professional painter, he went to St. Petersburg, where he studied at the Kramskoy drawing school. This is not enough, and the guy enters the Academy of Arts.

Searching for yourself

Since 1878, Vasnetsov has been actively traveling around Europe: he visited France and Italy. Vasnetsov's creative style is very diverse. It never repeats itself, it always changes. When he was associated with the association of the Wanderers, his paintings were most often depictions of everyday life. Vasnetsov was able to show his talent to the maximum when he began to write in the Art Nouveau style. It is also believed that he can be called the founder of a certain native Russian style in painting.

Painting

It is possible to describe the painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" only if one understands the Russian flavor. We will talk about this below, but now we will consider the picture in more detail. It was written by Viktor Vasnetsov back in 1889. We see that Ivan is on the alert, because danger lies in wait for him at every step. At the same time, the young man gently and firmly holds his companion, worrying for her more than for himself. Elena was exhausted from such a long chase, her shoulders drooped, and her eyes expressed fatigue, and the girl clung to her savior's chest.

The gray wolf is the most wary of all, because it is he who senses the danger first. His posture is tense, and keen, observant eyes are directed forward. The picture shows his strong paws, which confidently rush towards the unknown. Despite the fact that the wolf is alert and careful, he is still very tired and exhausted by the chase. The dark colors of the picture, together with the depicted exhausted faces of the characters, create a painful atmosphere of tension and danger that hangs in the air. But is there any hope for our heroes? Can they be saved? You can understand this from the picture if you look closely at it and see all the details. Only then can you notice how the blooming apple tree does not fit into the style of the picture at all. It is she, beautiful and magnificent, that means hope and faith in salvation. Thus, we see that Viktor Vasnetsov uses symbolism to show the desire of the soul of each character in the picture. A beautiful apple tree is located quite imperceptibly, it does not immediately catch the eye, therefore, in order to see a ray of light in this picture, it must be examined in detail.

Plot

The plot of the picture came from the people: from Russian folk tales about a strong and courageous hero who always helps those who ask him for help. In the picture, Ivan is surrounded by a black forest, which means a dark force that lives in the forest thickets. The hero sits on a gray wolf - his faithful assistant - together with the beautiful Elena. Old and strong trees block their way with their huge black branches, from which it is impossible to get out. These ancient branches do not even let in the sun's rays.

Similar plots are widespread in Russian regions. Well done heroes are the favorite characters of Russian folk art. They are present in almost every fairy tale, so it is not surprising why the folk artist chose such a theme for the picture. Ivanushka is always the same hero: a little rustic, often the youngest in the family, but always smart, sincere and kind. It is thanks to all these qualities that he manages to defeat evil, save beauties and do good in the Russian land. The author of the painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" tried to show that it is also difficult for heroes, they can be afraid, upset and doubt, but they do not stop being good. The picture shows that everyone is afraid: the brave Ivan, the fearless gray wolf, and, of course, the fragile Elena.

Heroes

The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" shows three heroes: Elena the Beautiful, Ivan Tsarevich and a gray wolf. Let's discuss each of them separately.

The gray wolf is very curious not only from the point of view of researchers, but also from the point of view of ordinary viewers. He attracts attention by the fact that he has human eyes, which very accurately and deeply reflect his inner mood. At the same time, it should be understood that the painting depicts a Volkulak, who was feared and driven away in Rus'. The author also shows that at this moment there are no negative traits in the gray wolf, such as bloodthirstiness or savagery. The wolf symbolizes something completely different in the picture - devotion and sacrifice.

Ivan Tsarevich feels more calm, but at the same time one can notice his alertness and timidity with Elena. He holds her tightly and looks around. From his look it is clear that for the beauty he will intercede even in a mortal fight.

Elena the Beautiful is afraid of the chase, but trusts her savior. She is sad and yet beautiful. The painting "Ivan Tsarevich on a Gray Wolf" shows us, in the image of Elena, a traditional Russian beauty with long blond hair and lovely jewelry.

Character clothing

The painting “Ivan Tsarevich on a gray wolf”, the photo of which is in this article, is full of small details of clothing. In fact, this is a very important point, because the author drew every little thing with great care. Thanks to the colors, Vasnetsov was able to vividly convey the robes of the main characters. Looking at each of them, you can feel the weight of this beautiful brocade, morocco, velvet and gold thread. Despite the fact that Elena is saddened, her outfit seems too catchy.

It is worth noting that the artist painted the image of the girl from his relative Natalya Anatolyevna, who had absolute femininity. And yet, despite the drawing of details, Vasnetsov focused on the internal state of the characters.

The painting “Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf” was painted by the Russian painter and architect, master of historical and folklore painting Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov in 1889 based on the plot of a famous Russian folk tale. Looking at the picture, the viewer seems to be immersed in a magical world, finding himself next to the main characters of the fairy tale. On the canvas, Vasnetsov depicted Ivan Tsarevich and Elena the Beautiful, riding the Gray Wolf away from the possessions of the evil king.

Sitting on his devoted friend, Ivan Tsarevich tightly and carefully hugs Elena the Beautiful. On it we see a beautiful caftan made of expensive brocade, belted with a green sash, one cannot help but notice the beautiful black gloves with a pattern that adorn Ivan’s hands, Ivan Tsarevich has a red cap on his head, and beautiful red boots on his feet. Ivan Tsarevich has a very serious expression on his face. With his large eyes, he anxiously peers into the distance: are they chasing him? He fears that the villain will take away his most precious thing - Elena the Beautiful. Behind the back of the protagonist is a beautiful sword in an equally beautiful case: a good fellow is always ready to defend himself.

Next to Ivan Tsarevich sits Vasilisa the Beautiful - a Russian beauty with beautiful blond hair fluttering in the wind. She wears a beautiful silk dress with a light blue sheen and gold trim on the bottom and sleeves. The beauty has pearl beads on her neck, and interesting morocco boots on her feet. A beautiful cap covering the girl's head is decorated with precious stones. The girl rested her head on her savior's chest, her gaze slightly drooping and thoughtful. Elena completely trusted Ivan Tsarevich and humbly folded her hands in front of her.

The Gray Wolf hurriedly moves forward. His ears are pressed to his head, his tongue peeps out of a huge toothy mouth, but there is no malice in the wolf's eyes. Strong paws, having left the ground, are ready to make a long jump through the swamp.

Behind the heroes of the picture it is clear that their path passes through the old forest. Centuries-old trees are overgrown with green moss, the forest is very gloomy and scary, it symbolizes evil forces that are trying to harm the heroes. Around impenetrable thicket. Gnarled dark branches interfere with the fugitives. In addition to the old frightening trees, the artist also depicted beautiful attention-grabbing flowers - water lilies growing in a swamp, as well as pale pink flowers of an old apple tree with bright green leaves, which, I think, symbolize hope for salvation and a happy future.

Vasnetsov in his painting "Ivan Tsarevich on the Gray Wolf" created the magical world of Russian folk tales. When you re-read Ivan Tsarevich and the gray wolf, this ingenious work of painting will certainly come to mind.
