Born Ruffians are a Canadian indie rock and post-punk band formed in 2004 in Midland, Ontario. To date, the band has released four albums, including the work "The Makeshift Metric Catastrophe", released under the band's previous name - "Mornington Drive".
The Born Ruffians are four members: Mitch Derosier, Adam Hindle, Luke LaLonde and Andy Lloyd; the fifth member and founding member, Steve Hamelin, left the group a few years ago. With their sound, which combined the best elements of indie rock and post-punk, the band quickly won the hearts of Canadian fans, and soon became a frequent guest on American music festivals, where she performed on the same stage with the most famous indie rock bands of our time. With a sound reminiscent of the early Pixies, the band continues to write new songs and play shows as they travel farther and farther from their native Midlands.
Born Ruffians was founded in 2004 in the musicians' hometown, but as it soon became clear, in order to gain fame, the musicians simply needed to move to Big city and make every effort to make their work known to local indie rock enthusiasts. The choice fell on Toronto (Toronto), which can deservedly be considered the capital of Canadian indie rock culture. In the first months in the city, the group performed in small clubs and bars, but placed more emphasis on social networks and music Internet resources; soon the British label "Warp Records" signed a contract with the musicians, and soon after that the "Born Ruffians" began recording their first mini-album on the new label, as well as re-recording the debut album "The Makeshift Metric Catastrophe", previously released independently.
Thanks to the DJs of the radio station CBC Radio 3, the song "This Sentence Will Ruin/Save Your Life" got into the rotation of the station and held high positions for several weeks. Around the same time, festival organizers noticed the musicians and decided to put them on the same stage with the largest indie rock bands in the world. For several months, the musicians played with such bands as "Franz Ferdinand", "Caribou", "Hot Chip", "The Hidden Cameras", "Tokyo Police Club" and "The Honorary Title". In the spring of 2008, the musicians gave a tour of Canada, and then gave several shows in the United States. Due to the success in North America, the band's producers decided to give the boys shows in the UK and Europe, which were also a huge hit with the fans.
In 2009, the group starred in one of the episodes of the web series "Nirvana the Band the Show", for which she played several of her songs on the stage of the most popular indie rock club in Toronto - "The Rivoli", which became the launching pad for many popular Canadian groups. Around the same time, the musicians appeared in one of the episodes of the British TV series "Skins" (Skins), depicting on stage one of the many Brooklyn clubs.
In 2008, the band released the album "Red, Yellow & Blue", which was popular with both fans and critics; two years later, their work "Say It" appeared in stores, also released on vinyl and available for purchase in electronic stores.
The last album to date - "Birthmarks" - the guys from "Born Ruffians" released in 2013, but, as you know, in 2014, celebrating their 10th anniversary on stage, the group is going to release new job; so far, none of the musicians have commented on the release date or recording format.
