family reading
The problem of reading in the family is considered by the children's library as extremely important, because the influence of the family on the process of becoming a child's personality is very great. City librarians are trying to unite the efforts of families and cultural institutions. They pursue a common goal: to introduce the child to reading through the game, creative tasks, joint communication in their free time.

In 2006, in libraries serving children, the following events were organized for parents:

  • Open views

  • Thematic exhibitions (“I give my heart to children” - the library named after Chkalov)

  • Meetings with specialists on childhood issues - bib-ka them. Kosmodemyanskaya

  • Holidays:
- “My mother is the best” - bib to them. Chukovsky

- “It is very difficult to be a mother” - bib to them. Mayakovsky

- "Thank you, dear" - bib to them. Pushkin

  • Librarians' consultations

  • "Family Reading Day" - bib-ka them. Turgenev

  • "Reminders for Parents on Family Reading"

  • Card files "Family Academy" on children's reading and preparing children for school - TsGDB them. Lenin, bib-ka them. Nekrasov
Good results were shown by the classes of the DTO “Fa-sol”: the number of participants and the quality of performances increased. Holidays were prepared: “You are the only inexpressible light for me” (Dedicated to Mother's Day), “The most beautiful, most beloved” (on the Day of March 8), folklore gatherings “Magic Matryoshka”. Dwelling on the content of the above holiday, I would like to note that its goal was not only to acquaint children with the puppet symbol of Russia - matryoshka, but also to form the concept of “folk art” in children, to instill respect for craftsmen. During the holiday, the poems of S. Marshak "Roly-Vstanka", ditties were used, the dance of matryoshkas was performed. Parents took part in the preparation of the event, in competitions and quizzes.

November 26 at the Central City Children's Hospital. Lenin hosted the holiday “You are my only inexpressible light”, dedicated to the most beloved people on earth - mothers.

The hall was attended by the winners of the creative competition (5th grade "A" MSOSH No. 58), who wrote the warmest, most beautiful, sincere words of love to their mothers, young vocalists of the teenage club "Brigantina", the best readers of the library.

Children read poems about mothers and for mothers with pleasure, sang songs, showed sketches, took part in the competitions “Funny cooks”, “Fairy-tale mothers”, “The word is not a sparrow ...”, etc.

Parents, to the considerable surprise of the children, also did not remain in debt and demonstrated their talents, both artistic and vocal, showing the Tale of Kolobok in a new way.

Similar results were produced by the activities of the leisure clubs "Doshkolenok" (library named after Chkalov) and "Domovenok" (library named after Mayakovsky).

To help parents during the year in the Central City Children's Hospital. Lenin prepared various exhibitions:

  1. Exhibition-offer "Home School", offering answers to questions:
- Is it reasonable to love children?

What are the spiritual needs of the child?

What are the reasons for the "dislike" to reading? and etc.

2. Exhibition-dialogue "Let's sit side by side, talk in a friendly way" (on the Day of the Family), on which, next to the card index of questions asked by parents, there was a recommendatory list of literature indicating where you can find answers to the questions asked, as well as books and magazines about raising children.

For believing children and their parents, work with literature at the exhibition "Spirit of Childhood" was continued at the junior subscription. This year it has been filled with scripts for Orthodox holidays, a selection of articles about home education in religious families, the best works by Russian writers about children and the celebration of Christmas and Easter in Rus'.

The main thing in this direction of activity of children's libraries is that when parents and children are passionate about common interests, play, creativity, this allows them to take a fresh look at each other. A good smart book, first of all, helps to unite children and parents.

During the breaks between the "examinations" of Koshchei and Baba Yaga, the children participating in the holiday showed their musical numbers: they sang songs, danced, played musical instruments. At the end of the holiday, the Queen of the Book awarded the most reading guys.

Thus, the main goal of the event was achieved: the guys remembered their favorite books, learned about new products, got an initial idea about the elections, played and revealed their creative abilities.

The following lines became the motto of the holiday: Under the sky of the city of Rostov,

The book is loved and kept,

But the children coped with their own laughter and with the game.

Important in children's libraries is the work with periodicals, namely the selection of the best for children's reading and perception, the presentation of publications to children-library readers.

March 20 marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of the Don writer Pyotr Vasilyevich Lebedenko. In this regard, theatrical literary holidays and quizzes were held in many libraries serving children.

In the Central City Children's Hospital Lenin hosted the literary festival "Hello, Donskaya Tale!". It was preceded by preparatory work: 2 weeks before the holiday, students of grade 4. school No. 117 were offered for reading "Tales of the Quiet Don". The holiday began with a wild Cossack song. Then the presenters introduced the readers to the literary works of Pyotr Vasilyevich Lebedenko (fairy tales, legends), which described the beauty of the Don region, the customs and rituals of the Cossacks.

Particular attention was focused on the love of the Cossacks for their land, for freedom, which was emphasized by Cossack songs.

The quiz on "Tales of the Quiet Don" showed that children know the works from this collection well, and the fairy tale "A kind heart is more precious than beauty" performed by the children's creative association "Fa-Sol" charmed all viewers with its kindness and simplicity.

The holiday ended with a cheerful Cossack dance.

In the library. Ilyich The Children's Book Week ended with a costumed literary festival "Good Tales of the Quiet Don". The hall was decorated in the Cossack style. One of the fairy tales by P.V. Lebedenko “About the Miracle - the Overseas Monster, the beautiful girl and the gray she-wolf”, playing which the children showed that not only men, but also women fought for the Don land, one of which became the main character of the fairy tale. The actors performed in bright colorful costumes. With the help of staging, the children got to know the fairy tales of the Don author better.

It should be noted that the tales of the hero of the day fell in love with the participants of the holiday. This was reflected both in their drawings and in full answers to the questions of literary quizzes on Don fairy tales (“Petrus is a Russian boy”, “A kind heart is more precious than beauty!”).

Children read poems about kindness, recalled proverbs and sayings, listened to folk songs that gave the holiday a unique Cossack flavor.

Coordination of the activities of organizations involved in the summer leisure of children was carried out with:

During the "Literary Round the World" readers got acquainted with the works about travel and adventures, as well as with new books on this topic.

Using books during the game, the children learned to correctly identify the main character of the journey and the country in which the events take place. We got acquainted with the "marine" terminology.

A good mood for readers-travelers was created by the "old sea wolf" boatswain Peredryaga. He not only took exams in maritime affairs from the guys, but also tried to prevent them from finding the right answers to the questions of the presenter.

Starting the journey from the pier of the port "Letograd" (library), the readers visited:

  • In the port "Fabulous";

  • In the bay "Old sea wolf";

Task 5. Impromptu theater: dramatization of the fairy tale "Porridge from an ax."

The light, entertaining program of games in the summer recreation camp was aimed not only at organizing interesting fun activities for children, but also helped to remember interesting and favorite fairy tales, introduce children to reading literature during the holidays, showed how to make this time especially interesting with the help of smart books .

In the library. Mayakovsky, as part of the summer reading program, work was carried out to attract children to reading, as well as to get acquainted with the work of the best children's writers, with the history of our country and the traditions of the Russian people.

So the library organized open viewings, book exhibitions, conversations, literary games and holidays:

  • Folklore hour "Trinity - green Christmas time", consisting of a conversation "Folklore traditions of the Russian people", quizzes "What kind of a miracle tree?", "Magic wreath" and the game "White Birch".

  • Lyrical folklore composition "On the Kupala night". It began with the conversation “Ivan Kupala, or when the fern blooms”, then competitions and quizzes “There are miracles” and “Beliefs of our ancestors” were held, and at the end there was a fairy tale with elements of theatricalization “The Fern Flower”.

  • Literary holiday "Benefit performance of the little wizard" (on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Don writer P.G. Amatuni), the program of which included a conversation about the life and work of the pilot-writer P.G. Amatuni and a review of his children's and fantasy books.
Events dedicated to significant calendar dates are considered traditional in children's libraries:

  • June 1 - International Children's Day;

  • June 6 - Pushkin Day in Russia;

  • June 12 - Independence Day of Russia;

  • June 22 - Day of memory and sorrow, etc.
On June 1, in Pleven Park and the Dunno cafe (Sunny City amusement park), by the staff of the Central City Children's Hospital named after. Lenin passed the "Feast of the Sun" - the day of protection of the holidays.

Participants of literary quizzes and fun competitions held under the Book Tree in Pleven Park, in addition to great pleasure from meeting with their favorite books, received recommendation lists and reading plans on various topics. With the help of these plans, the children could get acquainted with new books, exciting adventures, and attend summer clubs at the library all summer long. The holiday was spent by young actors of the library creative association "Fa-Sol" together with the presenter, the Sun and the wise Textbook.

In the park "Sunny City", small spectators of the theatrical performance "Entrance to sluts are forbidden" met with the puppets Petrushka and Aibolit, who told how King Sloppy tried to conquer the Kingdom of Purity by cunning. With the help of the guys, the insidious plans of the Sloppy were thwarted. The children proved that they can honorably bear the title of subjects of the Kingdom of Purity.

To the Pushkin Day of Russia in the Central City Children's Hospital named after A.I. Lenin hosted the game Field of Miracles "Here are miracles, here Goblin roams." The guys twisted the "drum" on the principle of a television game and answered questions based on the fairy tales of A.S. Pushkin. The game so captivated the children and proved itself that after the celebration it was repeated several times.

In the library. Mayakovsky, a literary matinee dedicated to A.S. Pushkin "What a miracle these fairy tales are", which included a conversation about the poet's work, a brain-ring "Golden chain on an oak tree", a presentation of fairy-tale periodicals, literary quizzes and a crossword puzzle. The children got acquainted with some facts from the biography of the poet, remembered his best works, creatively comprehended the moral meaning of Pushkin's fairy tales.

In the library. Ilyich also held a literary game "There on unknown paths." As part of the game, the guys:

Readers of the Department of Preschoolers and Primary Schoolchildren, despite their age, did an excellent job with the questions of the quiz dedicated to the state symbols of our country.

During the historical minute "Russian flag - peace, harmony, unity" in the library. Ilyich, readers made a historical march on the history of the flag, listened to a review at a book exhibition, and participated in the drawing competition "My flag is the best."

Such events are not only educational, but also help to develop patriotic consciousness among the younger generation, awaken in children feelings of love for the Motherland, respect for the historical past of their country and family.

The most memorable event in the library. Pushkin was a journey through the pages of the magazine "Funny Pictures" (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the publication).

A script was developed in advance, participants - readers of the library were invited. The journey was made twice, within the walls of the library and on the stage of the park. V. Cherevichkin. The program of the trip included funny quizzes, riddles, jokes, and games. The guys learned the history of the creation of the magazine, why it was called that, about who are the funny little people who always show off on the cover of the magazine. An ode dedicated to the publication of the first issue of the magazine sounded.
In a large Soviet family,

Magazines and newspapers

Today is the most childish

The magazine is out!

His reader too

Still quite small

But smaller and younger

Magazine reader.

Magazine and child

Bon Voyage!

Let them race

Grow, grow, grow!

S.Ya. Marshak.

The chief of the company of cheerful little men, Pencil, came to visit the children. He spoke about the competition held by the magazine for its fiftieth anniversary, gave a master class in drawing, spoke about his favorite headings in the magazine. Then Thumbelina and Dunno joined the guys.

The guys were asked to help Dunno correct the mistakes. This little man loves to compose poetry, but he does not always succeed. The children gladly agreed and helped Dunno, and also composed their own poems. The presenter talked with the kids about the summer, held a quiz on this topic. I also liked the fun quiz "Know the fairy-tale hero."

A fun outdoor game-competition "Balloon" was held in the park. The children also learned about other magazines published by the VK publishing house, got acquainted with young and eminent authors published in the magazine, and told their funny stories. In conclusion, the participants of the event took up creativity: some drew, others composed poems, some made crafts, and some simply wrote wishes and congratulations. All works were devoted to the anniversary of the favorite magazine. Throughout the event, cheerful laughter sounded, the guys learned something new for themselves, had an interesting time, developed their creative abilities.

In the library-branch No. 14 named after. Sholokhov hosted a complex event dedicated to the Day of Protection of the Rights of the Disabled.

As part of the event, a concert was held by students of ROTSONU (Rostov Regional Center for the Education of Deaf Students). The variety and circus studio "Surdinka" and the ensemble of folk instruments "Stanichniki" performed.

In conclusion, a drawing competition "The world in which I live" was held among students of secondary school No. 90 and ROTSONU. The event was interesting and on a high rise. It turned out that both healthy children and children with disabilities see the world in equally bright colors: blue sky, bright sun, blue sea, happy parents. The winners were chosen by the participants themselves, voting with applause for anonymous drawings. The revealed authors-winners were awarded with memorable gifts.

Practice has shown that in working with users of preschool age and primary school students, the use of game forms of activity is most effective. The game situation makes the event rich, varied, more attractive to the child. Such forms make it possible to model a situation in which the penetration of readers into the content of a work of art is especially successful.

Folklore holidays are the most popular among young readers. This happens because in folk customs it is customary to meet spring, summer, and the rest of the seasons, cheerfully, colorfully, noisily. Here it is appropriate to play pranks, frolic. This attracts children, gives room for imagination, and helps librarians to easily use the best folk works of literature to introduce readers to reading.

“Family reading connects one soul with another with a thin thread, and then a soul kinship is born.”

I. Korchak.

Recently, there has been a decrease in interest in books and reading, both among the adult population and among children and adolescents; in families, joint reading and discussion of books with children has almost ceased. But, on the one hand, it was the book that at all times united people, brought up a culture of communication, and was the bearer of moral and spiritual values. On the other hand, it is in the family that interest in the book is formed, the first intermediary between the child and the book is the parents. Not without reason, even inXVIcentury, it was noted: "A child learns what he sees in his home - parents are an example to him."

All this increases the role of the library and the librarian in the revival of family reading..

How to introduce a child to reading? How to love a book How to teach him to read? How to teach a child to understand what they read? Ready-made recipes are hard to find. After all, every child is different. And most importantly, for a child, reading should be associated with joy, and not with boredom and coercion.

Having a special aura, children's library is a necessary family helper, contributing through the book development spiritual world child. The role of the book and libraries in the formation of the child is truly great and irreplaceable because family is the future of our country. The interaction of the library and families is the most efficient way to join family reading for adults and children.

Our library pays great attention to the revival of family reading.

The full interaction of the librarian and parents begins with deep individual work with each family member who comes to the library. During the first visit by parents and children, individual conversations are held with them about the rules for using the library, the interests of the child, reading preferences are identified, which allows them to offer literature of interest to them in the future. It is very important that the child learns to love books, read them, determine the idea of a work, extract information from the text. But you won't achieve all this in one day. This is a great joint work of librarians, parents and children.

For this purpose, various book exhibitions, conversations for parents are held: “From time immemorial, a book has raised a person”, “Family reading for the heart and mind”, “Books of our childhood”. Parents and children are happy to take part in our family holidays dedicated to Family Day, Mother's Day.

For in order to support and develop in young readers need, craving, interest in book, we try to use everything available funds. One of them - This a game. And that is why the puppet theater "Alyonushka's Tales" works in the library - a favorite brainchild of children and parents, many performances are staged, which the kids are looking forward to. The library cinema "Book on Screen" is also very popular, where preschoolers and their parents can watch their favorite cartoons and films - fairy tales based on the works of Russian and foreign writers.

The work of our library on family reading continues, and we think it will only benefit our readers. It is important to convince parents that reading good children's books is a family affair, interesting and very useful.

Family Reading Library Model
"Library and family: facets of interaction"

Glukhova Tatyana Viktorovna, methodologist Tatyana Viktorovna Lebedeva, deputy. director for innovation and methodological work
Municipal Institution of Culture "Centralized Library System of the City of Saratov"

1. Substantiation of social significance and description of the problem.
The family is an important element of the system of education and upbringing, where traditions, customs, and legends are the backbone. Reading is of great social importance for a child. Teachers, psychologists and librarians have long and convincingly proved that through reading a child gets the opportunity to independently acquire the knowledge and experience of mankind, improve their own thinking and personality as a whole. Today in the family there are no or almost all conversations with children about books. To instill in a child the need for reading, to teach him to read creatively means to give him the ability to draw knowledge and spiritual strength from a book. According to experts, the consequences of a decline in interest in reading, including fiction, can be the most severe. To prevent this from happening, the family and the library should join forces.
At present, the proportion of Russians who do not read at all or read only from time to time is increasing. According to statistics in 1991, 79% of the inhabitants of our country read at least one book a year, in 2005 this figure was 63%. The proportion of young people who read systematically decreased from 48% in 1991 to 28% in 2005. The traditions of family reading are being lost: in the 1970s, 80% of families regularly read to children, today - only 7%.
The interaction of the library and the family is the most effective way to introduce adults and children to family reading.

2. Prerequisites for creating a program:
The creation of family reading libraries in the structure of the Saratov Central Library Library dates back to the beginning of the 90s and is considered as the implementation of a comprehensive program of comprehensive family support.
There are 3 family reading libraries in the Saratov Centralized Library System. They are called library, educational and leisure centers "World of the Family" (b / f N7, 23/36) and "Family. House. Gen. Leisure” (b/f N9).
The opening of family reading libraries was aimed at attracting families with many children, socially vulnerable segments of the population to the library, assisting them in raising children, rationally organizing free time, and reviving the traditions of family reading.
The work on creating family reading libraries began with the identification and clarification of the position of library readers. A survey of readers was conducted, an analysis of their forms, which confirmed a great interest in family problems.
The three libraries, despite their common goals and objectives, are different. Each of them has its own characteristics and traditions, its contingent of readers. To create libraries, branch libraries located in remote areas of the city were chosen. These are the so-called "dormitory areas" that do not have a wide network of other cultural institutions. The material base of the libraries also played an important role. All three branches have spacious premises, the ability to freely place and regroup library funds, allocate zones for mass events, classes with individual groups of readers.
Library-branch N23/36 is a complex of two libraries N 23 for adults and N 36 for children united under one roof. The merger of the two libraries made it possible to use their premises more rationally: to allocate new departments and service areas. Equipped with a cozy living room for mass events, a hall of periodicals, an exhibition hall. An important role was played by the creative potential of library staff, individual inclinations and capabilities of specific library workers.
The next stage in the creation of a family reading library is the regrouping and reorganization of library collections. In the open access fund of each of the libraries, a thematic complex of literature “Family. Gen. Leisure”, where literature is concentrated on the problems of the family, raising children, rational housekeeping, and a healthy lifestyle.
In b/f N 7, during the formation of the complex, literature was selected from the funds of the reading room and subscription. But all the literature on the topic was concentrated in one place - on the subscription. In the b / f N 23/36, a complex of literature is also presented in the children's department. In b / f N 9 it is colorfully decorated and is a permanent book exhibition on the subscription “Family. House. Gen. Leisure"
The work of libraries is built in close contact with educational institutions of the city, municipal institutions of additional education (music schools, preschool institutions), social service centers for the population, public organizations, cultural and educational organizations, teenage clubs, studios, circles.
It has become a tradition to hold family holidays, “family gatherings”. On March 15, the branch library N 7 hosted a family holiday “In the family is our future”, dedicated to the Year of the Family. There were 50 families present. On June 24, the same library hosted a family holiday “Boys and girls, as well as their parents!”.
Since the beginning of the year, the lecture hall "Family and Society" for young people and students has been held in the Central City Library. Lecture topics: “The history of love is the history of society”, “National features of the Russian family”, etc.
In the MUK "CBS of Saratov" special attention is paid to the problems of young families. In family reading libraries, this work is ongoing. Thus, in 2007, 31 young families were identified in the library-branch N 7, the Library and Information Center "World of the Family", which receive information assistance on family issues, raising children, rational housekeeping, a healthy lifestyle, etc. In 2008, the Reading Family benefit performance was held, in which the most actively reading families of the library microdistrict took part. The participating families presented the genealogical tree of the family, talked about family traditions, participated in competitions, one of which was the advertisement "Favorite Book"
B / f N 9 annually holds events for mothers with the active involvement of children on Mother's Day. Playing events for parents and children are very popular among readers of Library No. 9 - “Star Hour”, the environmental game “Robinsonade”, the literary quiz game “My Light, Mirror, Tell ...”. The events of b/f N 9 have their own specifics - these are, as a rule, theatrical holidays. Among them are the holiday of initiation into readers “Little Red Riding Hood and her friends in the book kingdom”, the theatrical Day of Knowledge (based on the fairy tale “Twelve Months”), the theatrical excursion “Meeting the Library” for first-graders and their parents, theatrical New Year's Eve for different groups readers of New Year's Abductions and Magical Transformations. The library space allows activities to be held separately for parents and children at the same time.
Library N 9 closely cooperates with the music school N 14, located with it in the same building. Music school students perform in the library at such events as "Evening of Romance", "Evening of Chopin" for children and parents.
Family reading libraries pay special attention to work with youth.
In the b/f N 9 for readers of youthful age the club "Muse" is created. The club has its permanent composition, organizational core. The events held within the club can be attended by all readers of the library. The club's program is varied. Debates on moral and ethical topics are held here - “Love is a huge country”, “To smoke or not to smoke”; Various holidays are held - New Year's Day, St. Valentina, KVN, "Laughter is a serious matter" (by April 1); "Knight's Tournament", etc. To the 200th anniversary of A.S. Pushkin, the team members prepared dramatizations based on his works “The Young Lady-Peasant Woman”, “Dubrovsky”, “The Queen of Spades”.
3 generations of children have changed in the Muza club. Twice a year, its first composition meets.
Library-branch N 23/36 in its work with youth pays special attention to moral and legal issues. Organizes meetings with lawyers, such as "Rights and Duties of Minors". On the occasion of Family Day, a discussion “Your difficult parents” was held for teenagers. At present, a cycle of activities for youth and parents on the prevention of drug addiction has been developed and is being implemented.
Library N 23/36 continues to work to help career guidance for adolescents. Testing, a psychological examination in order to determine the abilities for the chosen profession, and a survey of parents are carried out. This work is carried out jointly with PAGS specialists and psychologists. A lecture hall “Human Psychology for Parents and Educators” was developed, which is conducted by a psychologist. For parents there is a lecture hall "The ABC of Education".
On the basis of the complex of pedagogical literature, Days of Information from the cycle "The World of the Family" are held.
Much attention is paid to the elderly. For about 10 years in the b / f N 23/36 there has been a club "Communication" for war and labor veterans. In the b / f N 7 for older readers, family gatherings “Winter Evenings” are held. Literary and musical evenings are held in all family libraries for the Day of the Elderly and Victory Day.
The "Health Service", created in the b / f N 23/36, maintains close contacts with the social center "Mercy". On its basis, a series of lectures on herbal medicine "Your health is in your hands" was held. For children and their parents, "Safety Lessons" are held, which include game-based learning about the rules of behavior on water bodies, roads, etc.
In 2008 held mini-study "Book and library in family life". The purpose of the study was to identify the attitude of leaders of children's reading (parents) and their children to the book and reading (including reading in the family), the library, knowledge of the interests of their children. The study involved 10 children's libraries-branches.
200 questionnaires were distributed, 192 questionnaires were processed. There are 13 men and 178 women aged 22 to 72 among the respondents. 55% of them have a higher education and 30% have a specialized secondary education. Most of them (65%) visit the library with their child. More than half of the respondents (58%) answered that their child loves to read. But at the same time, television (video) ranks first among the interests of the child (60.4%), and reading comes second (49%).
The majority of respondents place the responsibility for organizing children's reading on the family (92%). The school (sometimes a kindergarten) ranks second (32%). Responsibility for organizing children's reading lies with the library 14% of respondents.
You can introduce your child to reading by reading aloud in the family. 55.7% of respondents think so. 63.5% of respondents read aloud with their children. The highest rate of such answers is among respondents with higher education - 67.9%. Sometimes 30.2% of the respondents read aloud with their children. And about 6% admit that they don’t read aloud with their child. For respondents with higher education, this figure is 2.8%.
47% of respondents consider it necessary to discuss what they have read. 34% of respondents consider it necessary to recommend and offer literature.
More than half of the respondents (64%) believe that reading and discussing books in the family develops a child's speech and imagination. Reading and discussing books in the family affects the development of the child. This is the opinion of 55.2% of the respondents. 31.3% believe that reading and discussing books brings the family closer.
88.54% of all respondents have a home library (among respondents 75.86% with secondary education, 87.72% with specialized secondary education, 92.45% with higher education).
The composition and core of the family library depends on the education of the respondents.
For respondents with higher education, the core of the library includes classics, then books of an educational nature, then reference books and encyclopedias, and an entertaining book is in last place.
Respondents with specialized secondary education rank first for educational books, reference books and encyclopedias, and entertaining books, and last for classics.
For respondents with a secondary education, an entertaining book comes first, followed by books of an educational nature, classics, and reference books and encyclopedias at the end of the list.
Additionally, the following were listed in descending order: children's literature, fairy tales, special literature (respondents with higher education), science fiction, detective stories, literature on history, history of civilizations, adventures, literature necessary for school.
The vast majority of those who answered the questionnaire (89%) were able to name their child's favorite books, or his reading preferences. But 11% did not name their child's preferences and gave no reason for their answer. It can be assumed that they either do not know the preferences of their child, or his reading taste is diverse, or it can be assumed that the child practically does not read (within the framework of the school curriculum).
The majority of those surveyed, from 65%, visit the library with their child.
More than half of the respondents 52% admitted that the home library does not satisfy the need for information. Satisfied - 30% of respondents. About 20% did not answer this question.
But it should be borne in mind that the questions of the questionnaire were mostly answered by adults who visit the library, read, know the book and are able to introduce their children to reading.
The study does not cover those who do not go to the library. And their relationship to the book and the library, as well as to their children's reading, remains unexplored. And this is the reason for another study.
Independent research on family problems was carried out in separate libraries of the system. For example, "Modern family: "for" and "against" - branch library No. 22. The survey was conducted among students and teachers of the Chemical Technology College. The age of students is 16-17 years old. Teachers are people who have experience of family life, certain problems in the family. This can be seen from the responses of the respondents.
The desire to see the family as a reliable rear is the desire of every person. This is the opinion of 55% of students and over 71% of teachers. But it is alarming that 20% of young people consider the family a “hot spot”. This speaks of trouble in family relationships.
To the question "What is a complete family?" 60% of young people and 64% of the older generation believe that these are grandparents, parents and children, and 40% of the young and about 30% of the older generation believe that a complete family is only parents and children. Today's young families try to live apart from their parents and grandparents. Large families living together: there are practically no several generations in one apartment now. To the question “Who should be the breadwinner in the family?” The younger and older generations gave different answers to family problems.
Many years of experience in the work of family reading libraries showed its promise, allowed us to analyze and comprehend the results, and draw certain conclusions. This project was developed taking into account existing gaps and developments.

methodologist of the Central city library

It is with the family that the world begins for the child. Here he takes his first steps, pronounces the first words, gets acquainted with the first books. It is dad and mom who turn pages with bright pictures, drawings to the baby, teach them to experience, be surprised, admire the first literary heroes, their destinies and adventures. If parents and a child often pick up a book, then spiritual unity, peace and love reign in the family. The reading atmosphere should become a family tradition. After all, it is from the book that you can take food for the soul and heart. It is important that books do not simply become sources of information or entertainment, but play a general educational and cultural role.

Not only kindergarten teachers and teachers of literature at school should instill a love of reading. Parents should take care of this even at the earliest stages of a child's development. In order to reunite the efforts of parents and specialists, work is underway in the family reading library in many localities. Librarians invite parents to various events to increase children's interest in books. Well, we invite you to get acquainted with the goals of joint classes with parents, an exemplary family reading program in the library, and the expected results. Such joint work of the library and parents can be called complex.

Reasons to Introduce Family Reading in the Library

In the last decade, researchers have noted the formation of the following attitudes towards reading in children and adults:

    • The number of children who read only the works of the school curriculum is increasing.
    • Every year, fewer and fewer young people spend their free time reading literature.
    • The penetration of the preschool child into the culture of books is slower and slower.
    • For those who grow up, everything becomes weaker for reading.
    • The reading circle of children and adolescents is influenced by mass culture, which leads to the popularity of detective stories, horror stories, and stories based on television series.
    • Many children read just for fun.

The Importance of Family Reading in the School Library

Let's talk about the benefits. But first, let's find out what it is - family reading in the library? The activities of the continuous psychological and pedagogical process of joint reading of children and parents, followed by analysis, discussion - this is the concept of family reading. Analysis of works can be oral, written, gaming. Similar events were held back in the days of the Egyptian pharaohs. Researchers have found one entry on a papyrus from that period, which contains an appeal from a father to his son with a request to direct his heart to books.

In antiquity, family reading was also widely practiced. One of the Roman rulers himself wrote the "History of Rome" and studied it with his son. This practice was used in the Middle Ages and in the Enlightenment. In the 19th century, family reading was common among noble families. Modern practice already combines home reading with library reading. Professional librarians invite their parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters along with their children. A whole family reading program is being developed in the library. What is it for?

Recently, the role of reading in society has been lost, the prestige of education and knowledge is falling, and young people are orienting themselves towards non-bookish forms of culture. And general cultural, aesthetic, emotional needs are drawn from books. The literacy of young people is falling every year, and the level of necessary reading and writing skills is also declining. Most children do not have an awareness of the value and significance of books, newspapers, magazines, electronic information. Therefore, reading in a family environment plays a special role. A jointly read story or story, its discussion makes family members closer, unites them spiritually. Unfortunately, fewer families are acquiring home libraries. Thus, illiterate children grow up in non-reading parents. It is possible to improve children's reading only in tandem with the school, library and family.

Along with business, normative, educational, entertaining, self-educational reading, family reading occupies a special place. In the course of such a process, the child acquires various skills and abilities, acquires the basis of a reading culture. After all, the family is the first and main intermediary between the book and the child. There, interest in the book is formed, the reader's taste develops. In Russia, the work of the family reading library has deep roots. It includes a comprehensive program, various forms of work with children and their parents. No wonder the program for family reading in the library is often called "Warm House".

It is the family that is considered as a social value all over the world. Family relationships shape a person's personality. Employees of rural and settlement libraries know many families well and try to influence their relationships through the book. It is they who become social educators, organizers of family reading in the library. This is also possible in the school library. The motto of such an integrated approach to the study of books can be taken: "Let's create a country of readers!"

Importance Factors of Reading with Parents

Interest in the revival of family reading in the children's library has recently increased. Reading is considered as a developing environment. Its significance has its own factors:

    • Since childhood, children have been told fairy tales, read small biblical stories, then myths, poems about nature and animals. This is the most ancient and proven way to educate a person even before he learns the alphabet. Reading activity and culture are formed on listening and speaking.
    • Such reading contributes to the deepening of children's attention, the formation of the need for books. If such a need is laid in a child from childhood, then he will read a lot in adulthood.
    • Family reading activities in the library are the key to early and correct mastery of native speech. Early reading helps kids grow up to be communicative people. After all, the passive speech of children (silence) needs to be developed.
    • Emotional and aesthetic perception of the world is formed on the basis of books. Sounding words have a strong influence on children, they teach them to triumph, rejoice, be sad, sad, joke, laugh. Words give children vivid, emotional impressions.
    • As a result of joint reading, the ability to perceive artistic images develops. Children include imagination, visual representations. They learn to rejoice and grieve along with literary heroes.
    • not only for babies, but also for older people. It is important not only to listen, but also to perceive and retell what is read. For older people, such activities help to endure loneliness more easily and pass on their experience to children. Adults can also observe the spiritual development of children in this way.
    • Joint readings in the library help the socialization of the younger generation. The ground for the exchange of opinions is created, emotional enrichment occurs.
    • Such activities serve as prevention of aging, stimulate active mental activity.

No wonder it is considered that the library is the territory of family reading. It is an alternative to all kinds of studying books. This practice was actively introduced by the Lomonosov Family Reading Library (a town near St. Petersburg). Qualified staff of this library provide all kinds of assistance to families in choosing books. There are many events for this family program: various local history competitions, literary readings, classes for the teenage club "Yunta".

    Description of similar projects

Librarians face a serious task - to organize such classes with parents and children. It is necessary to create a comfortable atmosphere for such intellectual communication. To do this, the book fund must be equipped with highly artistic literature, where there will be books, periodicals, and electronic publications.

The organization of the library space is very important today. The modern library should be different and many-sided. It can organize "noisy" and "quiet" zones, open spaces and secluded places of rest. It is necessary to think over every corner of the room, making it attractive to visitors.

The library space makes cozy not only modern design. It is important to think over and organize an interesting fund for the reader. The main thing is to correctly arrange the literature so that it can be freely approached. The most effective ways to attract the attention of readers will be various promotions, exhibitions, evenings, round tables. The image of the library will be raised by spectacular information.

Approximate lesson plan in the library with parents and children

It is very important to think over the family reading program in the library. We offer you a monthly approximate planning of such events:

    • In December, you can organize a day of family communication in the library "I open the world with a book", New Year's confetti "Fabulous snowfall".

    Description of some events

Many librarians start their work on organizing family reading by holding the "How to get to the library" campaign. To do this, they put up posters with an invitation to come to the library. For adults, special propaganda leaflets and invitation bookmarks are distributed. On the central square of the district or square, a poster is sometimes hung up "Who goes where, and I go to the library." Family reading traditions and methods of their transmission are very diverse.

On New Year's Eve, adults and children often decorate a Christmas tree in the library room, making a symbol of the coming year, which then delights visitors. Children and adults are very attracted by various exhibitions: "Favorite books of our childhood", the magazine exhibition "Baby and Me", "My Child", "Mom's School". There are a lot of family reading library scripts. It would be nice to have a few tours of the bookshelves. Indoors, you can place a special box as a "Piggy bank of book surprises." Children and parents will drop notes into it, in which they will record interesting facts and events that surprised them when reading books.

It is important for a librarian to take into account that children are interested in works of an adventurous and adventurous nature, where some magical powers are present ("Harry Potter", "The Hobbit"). On a family reading day in the library, children might be asked to compare a book to a movie to prove that it is more interesting than a movie. Children can be interested in reading with the help of original paradoxes. For example, they must read up to a certain point and find the answer to an intriguing question. They often experiment with holding discussions between children and adults about the pages they have read.
