Painting a seascape in watercolor. Seascape with yachts

12.04.2019

Only an experienced artist can draw the sea, accurately convey the color and power of the water element. An artist who paints the sea is called a marine painter and draws various types and conditions of the sea and learns this all his life. The pictures of the sea painted with paints, gouache or watercolor, and preferably with oil, very accurately convey the whole gamut of shades and the depth of the color of the sea. The sunset on the sea looks especially beautiful in colors. But let's start step by step draw the sea with a simple pencil.
Drawing the sea is not easy, especially with a simple pencil. It is difficult to convey sea waves and surf with a simple pencil. With a pencil, this can only be done through the technique of strokes. You will need to constantly rub the strokes with your finger or a hard eraser.

1. First, select the main contours of the sea

First, select the horizon and the main contours of the coastline of our composition. On the shore, immediately draw the contours of coastal stones. Then we will separate the horizon line of the sea and draw a line of the beach and draw the sun. You can also draw the contours of small waves around the stones.

2. "Scatter" the sea waves in the picture

Now we need to draw the initial contours of the waves throughout the space allotted for the sea in our drawing. Make strokes with a pencil all over the surface of the sea, but you should not make too many of them, otherwise the waves will not turn out large.

3. Shade the water surface with strokes of a soft pencil

At this stage, we need to draw and shade with strokes the contours of the waves near the stones. To soften pencil marks, you can rub them with your finger or a hard eraser. The shaded part of the sea can also be rubbed with a piece of paper or a finger.

4. Sand on the coastline

Now we will pay attention to the coastline of the sea. In our picture there is a sandy beach by the sea, but you can draw another one. Just like the surface of the sea, sand should be shaded with pencil strokes, slightly rubbed. If necessary, you can remove excessive blackness in some areas of the sea, again with the help of an eraser. After that, you can "color" the stones, strongly shading them, and draw small clouds.

5. How to draw the sea. Clouds

At this stage, we will not draw the sea, but what is above it - the sky and clouds. If necessary, in some areas of the sea, you can slightly wipe the strokes with an eraser vertically, this will give the sea additional highlights. But first, add a few small free-form clouds with weak strokes to emphasize the movement of air. Draw the sun, such a "trifle" always makes any drawing more attractive and realistic.

6. Drawing the sea on a graphics tablet

Now you know how draw the sea with a simple pencil and you can try to make another drawing and paint it with paints, as in this color picture of the sea, made by me especially for this lesson on a graphics tablet.

Of course, the drawing of the sea will look much more beautiful if you can draw a sailboat in the distance. In this lesson, you will learn how to draw both the sea and a sailing frigate.

Wandering the seas on sailboats, the pirates made caches of stolen treasures, many of which have never been found. Perhaps these treasures never existed. But not only to indicate the location of an island with treasures in the sea, maps were used by pirates, they were used primarily for navigation.

If you decide to draw a picturesque seascape, draw dolphins. These sea animals are sure to turn out beautiful if you draw them in stages. Draw the contours of the sea and dolphins with a simple pencil, and then paint the entire drawing with paints.

The turtle lives in the sea and is probably the most ancient inhabitant of the seas. For all the years of evolution, turtles only learned to go on land to lay their eggs, but they did not leave the sea forever, like other animals. In this lesson we will try to draw a turtle by the sea on our own.

A mermaid is half a fish, half a person, so you need to draw a mermaid not only a tail, but also fish scales on it. A prerequisite for a picture of a mermaid should be the presence of a reservoir, because they live in a river or on the sea.

This master class is intended for teachers, parents, children from six years old.
Target:Creating a landscape with a sunset on the sea
Tasks:
- get great pleasure from the process of drawing
- in 20 minutes to create a "masterpiece", which will become not only a decoration, but also a talisman of the house
- relieve fatigue, improve mood, self-esteem
- to promote the education of the individual, to cultivate a reverent attitude towards native nature.

Purpose:interior decoration, gift.

Landscape is a special genre of painting. It combines the feelings awakened in the artist from the contemplation of nature, and the skill with which he conveys to the viewer the state of his soul. In this master class, you have the opportunity to truly depict the living colors of nature, the beauty of the sunset on the sea.
It is impossible to be able to do everything, although, in contrast to the same phrase, there is another, no less famous - "a talented person is talented in everything." It's hard not to agree. Perhaps, in reality, something is given to us easier, something is more difficult. But the result depends solely on the determination and desire to achieve the goal. Therefore, even being by nature a person of an absolute technical profession, who never encounters creativity, one can learn to draw. You can start, for example, by drawing a landscape.

In this master class, we will create together with you a landscape with a sunset on the sea.

For work we need

A sheet of white paper, A3 format (I have watercolor paper)
Gouache: yellow, orange, red, ruby, purple, black (gouache should be "live", i.e. soft, sour cream consistency).
Brushes (I use synthetic brushes #3 and #1, sharp)
A jar of water.

Progress:

Select a sheet location. It can be positioned both horizontally and vertically.
I placed it horizontally. Unlock all colors.

I have always loved watching the sunset.
The sun spills colors across the sky.
Today, like many years ago,
I am immersed in this story again.

With brush No. 3, draw a horizon line in the middle of the sheet with yellow gouache.

With the same paint we begin to paint the sky

Next, add a little orange to the yellow paint. We make a color stretch from yellow to orange

Adding red paint to orange paint

Add ruby to red paint (you can skip this step)

Add purple color to ruby color

Turn the sheet upside down and repeat all the previous steps.

Next, draw a black line along the horizon line

Let's draw a silhouette of mountains

Let's paint the mountains. I take purple and black paint on a brush

With small strokes with brush No. 1, draw the reflection of the mountains on the water

Let's draw a silhouette of a yacht

Let's paint over, draw a reflection on the water

Let's draw a mast. Just draw a straight line up

Let's draw a sail

Let's draw more yachts in the distance

Finishing touch - seagulls

The work of my pupils, students of grade 3

As you can see, they showed imagination - palm trees, dolphins appeared
More work, painted at the summer camp today

It remains to frame the work under glass and the gift is ready. But that is another story.
These are my artists - satisfied and happy
Everything brings out the best in me...
Takes your breath away...
And my heart sings with bliss...
For the body - it's millet temptation ...
He is called to a feat from afar ...
You can't enjoy this beauty...

Thank you for your attention
CREATIVE SUCCESS TO YOU!

Artists who paint the sea learn this all their lives. After all, it is not so easy to convey all the riot of the elements, the play of colors, the nature of the waves, the depth of shades. Therefore, the marine painter specializes only in working with paintings that convey the different state of the sea space. Before moving on to drawing pictures with paints, let's look at the beach with a pencil in stages.

Basic contours

First of all, you need to place the sheet vertically and draw a horizontal line approximately in the middle. It will separate sky and water. Then draw a coast line of slight curvature on either side of the sheet, at your discretion. It should start near the horizon and move down to the opposite corner of the sheet. Next, it is important to imagine how to draw the beach and the sea, what will be on the shore, and what state the elements will be in. On the coast, closer to the middle line, you can draw the contours of stones or rocks. Behind the horizon at the edge of the sheet, draw a couple of small hills, which are mountains in the distance. Label the sun at the top of the sheet. On land, which is a beach, draw the trunk of the future palm tree, slightly curved towards the sea. At the top of the tree draw round coconuts and large sprawling palm leaves. Next to the trees, you can add a large open umbrella and a sun lounger under it. Near the water, draw a small and balloon circle. Draw the contours of cloud clusters near the sun and several seagulls soaring in the sky. At this stage, we have considered how to draw a beach and a sea.

shading

On the surface of the water you need to draw small waves. To do this, with a simple pencil, apply a few strokes to the sea surface. Shade the surface of the sea near the boulders, this will visually enliven the waves. Eraser lightly on the rough lines to soften the outline from the pencil. The surface of the sea can also be smoothed by rubbing with a finger or paper. These manipulations help to understand how to draw the beach and the sea so that they look more realistic. Repeat the same steps with the coast - shade the surface and rub it lightly, creating the appearance of sand on the beach. Extra dark areas in the picture can be removed with an eraser. Rocks and mountains should be the darkest areas, so shade them with more pressure on the pencil and increased frequency of movement. On the clouds, draw a faint hatching, sufficient to visualize the movement of air. Onadditional details in the drawing, apply strokes along the contour, creating shadow and depth of the object.

colorful picture

We looked at how to draw a beach and sea with a pencil. Next, we use gouache. In this case, the work is carried out without a pencil, but we will take the main contours of the previous drawing as a basis. We mark the horizon on paper and divide the sky into three parts. The top will be blue, then pink and then yellow is applied. With a wet, washed brush, we blur the rough transition from one color to another. On the bottom half of the sheet, we again create three lines of color, starting from the horizon - blue, sand, orange, creating the sea, the coastal zone and the beach itself. Blur the transitions again without touching the middle line. We designate clouds with white gouache and paint over the top with pink, the bottom with dark blue. Remembering our drawing with a pencil, we draw rocks, taking gouache of a brown tint. Draw the relief, shadows and blur them along the top edge. We emphasize the line of the beach area with orange gouache and outline the contours of the sea waves in white. With thin strokes we set the direction of the waves. We apply foam along the edges of the waves and crests with white gouache. We emphasize the shadows with strokes of blue.

So we learned how to draw the sea and the beach with gouache. Optionally, you can add seagulls in the sky, and apply several large stones on the coast.

Landscape is one of the most beautiful areas of painting. It is perfect for novice artists to master, as it does not require such precision in construction as people or animals. Among the landscapes, a special place is occupied by the seascape.

Drawing a picture is always easier from nature. Therefore, if you are not at sea, it will be nice if you have a photograph of the landscape that you want to draw in front of you.

It is best to paint with watercolors on special paper for watercolors, attached with pushpins to a board set at an angle. Buttons keep the paper from curling when it gets wet, and it's easier to draw at an angle.

First of all, with a pencil, you need to sketch the main contours of the future landscape. It is better to make a sketch with a hard pencil so as not to leave thick lines, which will then be visible under the paint. Things like the sun and clouds should not be drawn with a pencil at all, because they will be drawn with very diluted, transparent paint and pencil lines can ruin them.

We will draw only the horizon line and the contours of the rocks.

After the sketch is made, the paper must be wetted with water so that it absorbs the paint well. In addition, on wet paper it will be possible to make smooth transitions from one color to another. You should always draw from light tones to dark ones. The lightest in our landscape is the sun, and we start painting from it. Other than the sun, the brightest places in the painting are the reflection of the sun in the water and the sky around the sun.

After that, we paint a general background, with a little darker paint. The sky, during sunset, takes on all the colors of the rainbow. Some of them, such as red or orange, are pronounced, but as the color of the sky turns blue, it becomes yellow and even green. If you draw a sunset from the bottom to the top, gradually mixing the paint, starting with red and turning into yellow, then from yellow to cyan and blue, then we will naturally get all the colors that are in the sky at sunset.

Try not to draw everything the same with the same color. Always mix colors so that the picture is picturesque, but at the same time, be careful not to make the color too dirty. You should have a palette handy to try out the colors.

At the same time, we draw the sea, because it practically reflects the sky and the sun, and it has the same colors. But when drawing the sea, we are focusing only on its light colors for now.

After the general background is set, we draw clouds in the sky. Clouds, like the sky, can have a different shade.

In order for the clouds to be voluminous, it is necessary to divide them into light and shadow. The side facing the sun should be left light, and the opposite should be darker. You can also darken some parts of the sky to make the clouds stand out more.

Then we switch to the sea. First, you need to highlight the horizon line. Directly under the sun, the sea is darker, but closer to the edges, on the contrary - the sky with clouds is darker than the sun. Since the horizon line is numb with excess paint, it must be blurred and soaked with a brush like a sponge.

We also leave the middle of the sea light, and closer to the edges, we thicken the colors. This is how the reflection of the sun in the water is obtained. To draw waves, dark paint must be applied in separate strokes so that light gaps are obtained between them. At the same time, we must not forget that the closer, the larger the waves. Small waves in the distance can be drawn with chaotic strokes, and near waves it is better to note more accurately. The foam of the waves near the shore, we will leave light.

Along with the sea, you can draw rocks. The rocks in the distance should be a little lighter and blurry than those that are closer, so that the picture looks more natural.

In principle, the landscape is almost ready and it remains only to draw small details, transitions from light to shadow on the waves and rocks. This can be done with watercolor, both by applying paint and by blurring it.

Do not forget, also, a very important rule in painting - you need to stop in time so as not to spoil everything.

That's it, dry the brushes.

Today I want to show you how I drew this seascape from life:

The play of color on the surface of the sea, in reflections, always fascinates me. So many colors there! It seems that it is simply impossible to convey in the picture. The photograph gives only a partial idea of the actual colors. The eye sees more...

We settled in a quiet harbor, surrounded by reddish-red rocks unusual for France. Their color in combination with the purest emerald water gives a simply amazing combination. And when the sun peeps through, blue reflections from the sky still play on the surface of the water. And all this beauty shimmers, moves, shimmers ... In general, the photo cannot be conveyed!

How to draw a seascape step by step:

1. When I started to draw, the sea was even more calm. Boats and yachts in the bay were reflected in the water ripples, creating an amazingly clear pattern on the surface of the water.

Therefore, I decided to use a reserve liquid in my work, which will not allow the watercolor to flow into the lightest areas of the reflections of the yachts.

2. When the reserve is dry, I start writing rocks. Since they are not the main thing in this picture, I blurred their shapes.

To do this, I first moistened a piece of work with clean water, and then introduced spots of illuminated and shady sections of rocks in a damp way.

Landscapes with water are simple and complex at the same time ...

Master a number of watercolor techniques and you will learn how to paint wonderful seascapes!

New video master class series “Water and reflections” will help you with this!

3. I turn to the filling of the water plan. I also moisten the entire surface so that it is easy to write this large piece in one fell swoop.

First I apply light shades of blue, orange, emerald. Then, with a thicker composition of paint, I enter dark green spots of ripples.

If the themes of the sea, water, waves

close to you - pay attention to

5. After the layer has dried, I remove the reserving liquid. The areas below it are kept white.

6. I prescribe small details of yachts:
