Step 6: Outline the borders with dark strokes

Once you're happy with the color, you can work with the sharpened dark and medium charcoal pencils to add sharper strokes and texture marks such as creases, shading, cross-hatching, rough lines, and curves to create a more detailed image. You can also use the pointed end of stamped paper and an eraser to remove charcoal streaks by adding highlights.

Step 7: Add White Details

Finally use white charcoal pencil to complete this part. Add highlights, especially where the boots capture light, such as the toe box and around the curves.

1. Draw a trapezoid with a rectangle at the top.
2. Cut off the bottom corner of the trapezoid so that the resulting line runs almost parallel to the remaining edge of the trapezoid (top of the foot).
3. Curve the part of the foot where the toes should be. Add a guide line if that helps.
4. Finally, round off the line a little, add the ankle, heel and toes.

The side of the foot that is arched is the inside, the other side is the outside. This, of course, is obvious, but one should never forget.

There is one more detail to keep in mind: the ankle. In the picture on the right, you can see her image in 3/4 and in front. When viewed in 3/4, the ankle resembles a boomerang, while when viewed from the front, it looks like a small swelling. That's all!

Consider how the foot bends. Below are two drawings - on one, the foot is at rest, and on the other, it stands on the toes. When drawing a ballet-like pose, notice how the top of the foot straightens quite a lot, and folds-cracks appear on the back of the ankle. The same thing happens with the fingers when they are bent.

The last detail to note is that the toes give the foot a curved appearance. Look at the flip-flops example. The farthest point of the foot is at the tip thumb and from it the line descends until it reaches the very last. That is why shoes usually have rounded ends.

The most important task to solve when drawing shoes is to determine the point of view (at eye level, from below, from above, etc.), the position in which the shoe is located and what it is like. The figure shows the legs, drawn at eye level, in various positions. If you know how to draw legs, refer to the relevant material (the article will be a little later).

The first line of the figure shows the most commonly used leg positions: front view, 3/4 view, combination of front and side view, and combination of 3/4 and side view. Note that ankle height is highly dependent on ground level. This is clearly seen in the example of shoes with heels. If you're drawing a flat-soled foot, just lower your ankle off the ground.

Below is another line, which shows the same legs, but already in shoes. The drawing scheme is as follows: first, you draw the layout of the leg, then the shoes on top of it, and erase the auxiliary lines.

The view of the leg is not limited to eye level and can be any other. In the lower figure, you can see two other quite commonly used views: at an angle and straight down.
