On a windy May day, the neighborhood of Prospekt Mira was filled with informals of different generations

Ian Gillan

There were also rockers of the old formation, already whitened with gray hairs, there were also middle-aged people, some with "hairs", some without, there were also young people. Some of whom drank from glasses and paper bags something similar to doping. Those who often visit those parts must have understood (in case they did not know for sure) that one of the "old" rockers was performing. And, obviously, they were not mistaken: Deep Purple came to Moscow once again.

deep purple- 50, so the posters said. For some, this figure could cause something like horror, because, it turns out, if the group is 50 years old, then we ourselves are no longer young. Someone, for sure, aroused admiration - wow, 50 years old, it’s necessary! And someone, perhaps, and neglect - they say, old people, where should they perform.

Ian Pace

One way or another, but veterans of hard rock are celebrating their half-century anniversary this year and went on this occasion, according to the name of the tour (“ The Long Goodbye», « long goodbye”) on their final tour. However, judging by the same name, the farewell, if it happens, will be really long - in the end, everyone still has an example of the Scorpions group before their eyes, how many times they came to Russia alone with “farewell” concerts, however nothing, they still perform to this day.

Don Airey

With Deep Purple, the situation is generally similar. From the very beginning, I didn’t really believe that it would really be a farewell concert. That's when they arrived Black Sabbath, then it was immediately clear that this was their last tour. And here - not a word, not a hint - nothing.

Roger Glover

And the program of the concert did not look like a debriefing at all. It was a "regular" Deep Purple concert, consisting entirely of familiar and beloved material. Latest Album" Infinite"was represented by only two songs -" Time for Bedlam" And " Birds of Prey"- they sounded in a row one after another somewhere in the middle of the concert, and even then, rather, as a formality - it was probably impossible not to present a new album at all.

Roger Glover and Ian Pace

The rest are all hits. Starting right away with Highway Star", resting on " Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming and finished, of course, " Smoke on the Water", Deep Purple showed that they are still old men. Each of those who filled the "Olympic" could be convinced of this - all the musicians of the group performed a solo. It was especially successful with the keyboardist Dona Airey- he wove traditional improvisations with music Rachmaninoff and even with Moscow evenings".

Ian Gillan

The only reminder that the group has been around for many years and that maybe it really is time to retire was the voice Ian Gillan. No, he's fine now, but it's getting harder and harder for him to pull out his own vocal parts. Although, at least for one more "farewell" tour, it will definitely be enough.

Steve Morse

There were only two negative moments in the, in general, good, strong, but, alas, not excellent, concert. The first is sound. It was so bad that sometimes all the parties, including the vocal one, mixed into one musical mess. The second is the warm-up team. There is an unspoken rule that the opening act must perform plus or minus the same genre as the main artist.

deep purple

In this case, the choice was more than strange. Perhaps, at a more intimate venue and at a concert of a different format, the Israelis Gunned Down Horses, playing something like a viscous alternative metal, would have been a great success, but in this case they caused one question from the audience - "why?". Many found the answer outside the hall, in buffets.

Ian Gillan

Otherwise, it was nice to hear one of the most beloved bands in the country once again. It remains to be hoped that the farewell, as it should be with the posters, will be really long. In any case, leaving the stage, neither Gillan nor the others began to speak pathetic speeches - they only confessed their love. You can say goodbye in Russian.

This may be the last tour of the rockers!

With their big tour "The Long Goodbye Tour" Deep Purple will travel all over the world and visit the capital. Grab a unique opportunity, grab your friends and ride the hard rock wave with Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Pace, Steve Morse and Don Airey.

50 years of inexhaustible energy

The cult group became famous for its hits back in 1968. Many say that so many musical groups do not live, but Deep Purple has been delighting with new songs for several decades. And this year, the kings of rock celebrate their 50th anniversary with a driving performance.

Those who came expect the performance of famous hits, as well as new songs of the twentieth (!) album "InFinite". It was this new collection that became the occasion to travel the world and remind of the power of heavy metal. The virtuoso performance of each composition will give everyone a real pleasure.

Is it possible to unambiguously say about the number of musical works at the present stage of development of this industry, and is it necessary? One thing is for sure: despite their huge number, there is a number of world-famous songs that not only find their fans around the world, but also firmly hold their positions decades later. It is difficult to imagine at least one person in the vastness of at least our vast country who would not hear or could not sing the famous Deep Purple song “ Smoke On The Water". Although he does not know the name of this legendary composition, and the name of the group (which is possible, although difficult to imagine), it is impossible to avoid tapping fingers or toes of shoes to this historical melody. And what is the “live” energy of this Deep Purple song - at a concert in Moscow, we will all know personally!

At the same time, this Deep Purple song has become the most recognizable embodiment of the double-stop technique and an indicator of a truly professional game. “ SmokeOnTheWater” can rightfully be ranked among the record holders in the field of cover versions. As you know, the original single was recorded in the style of heavy metal, but it is difficult to list all the musical genres of many reworkings: from country to black metal. And at the Deep Purple concert in Moscow, we will hear Smoke On The Water as it was, is and will be a classic from the golden fund of rock music. Live!

Roster rotationdeepPurple in the 70s

Further, as a result of internal conflicts, David Coverdel and Glen Hughes replace Gillan and Glover. Under the auspices of the third line-up in 1974, there were 2 less successful, but still very high-quality Deep Purple albums: Burn and Stormbringer. It's hard not to notice the shift towards the blues, but the basic concept of the band's already beloved style has been preserved. At the same time, there were some problems in the atmosphere of the team, which affected the mixing of styles. Among all the quality Deep Purple songs here are such compositions as "The Soldier Of Fortune" and "Lady Double Dealer".

You don't need to have hypertrophied insight to understand what happened next. In 1975, the composition of the team changed again, because it was necessary to replace the departed Blackmore. So Tommy Bolin appeared in the group. Let's pay attention to the places in the charts of the new album Come Taste the Band- 19 and 43 in Britain and America respectively. It would seem, what is the problem? The album is played just perfectly, and there is nothing to complain about. Obviously, the audience that fell in love with Deep Purple songs, in a state of ecstasy perceived all previous experiments, was not ready for a powerful shift from the band's line towards a more danceable product, which happened due to the direction of the new guitarist. This stage can rightfully be considered the most difficult in the history of the team, because it was he who led to the breakup of the group. And to be more precise, not to disintegration, but to a “creative pause”. Without a doubt, all Russian fans of the band are happy that this page has not become the last in the history of the legend, and we can visit the Deep Purple-2013 concert at the Olympic! And you have a choice of what to wave during the show - a burning lighter, or the pride of any rocker - long hair. Or maybe you prefer?

New albumsdeepPurple. Mid 80s

The revival of Deep Purple happened only in 1984 thanks to Ian Gillan, which is clearly confirmed by the members of the next line-up - Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Pace. Obviously, a very risky moment was approaching: the group had not performed for a long time and its popularity was based on previous hits. For the revival, a high-quality and perfectly executed product was needed. And the group brilliantly coped with this task: 2 excellent Deep Purple albums were released - ThehouseofBlue light And PerfectrStrangers, which received platinum and gold, respectively. We expect to listen to some compositions from these two releases at the Deep Purple concert in Moscow. When else will there be such a chance?

deepPurple - from 1989 to the 2013 Olympics

By the standards of the group, the revived line-up lasted a decent period - until 1989, when Gillan left the group, and Joe Lynn Turner came to replace it. New album out Slaves and Masters, which dropped the usual places of Deep Purple songs to far from the first lines. Not surprisingly, he did not stay in the group anymore, and the record company insistently demanded the return of Ian Gillan, which, of course, happened on the album TheBattlerageson. The record did not receive significant recognition, again, despite its good quality. Further, Ritchie Blackmore leaves the group under very scandalous circumstances. Since then, two members of the team have changed: Blackmore has been replaced by Steve Morse, keyboards by Jon Lord have been replaced by Don Airey. Latest album Now What?! We won't comment in any way - you'd better do it after the Deep Purple concert in Moscow.

Obviously, all the musicians who participated in the recording of Deep Purple albums clearly did not suffer from a lack of professionalism, quite the contrary. Of course, you can single out a few gentlemen and say that "here they are the true titans of hard and heavy", but is it advisable? Everyone gave the band what they could, albeit with their own ideas about what music should be.

Rammstein .

The Deep Purple group, an object of reverence for more than one generation, celebrated its 50th anniversary by organizing a large-scale concert on the stage of the Olimpiysky Sports Complex on May 30, 2018.

For many fans, this was a unique opportunity to see the iconic and one of the most influential bands in the music world. Deep Purple played their best and fan-favorite hits, as well as new releases from their twentieth studio album "inFinite", which served as an occasion for a world tour.

Deep Purple were destined to become popular. In terms of album sales, she left behind even the Beatles.

The group brought together such virtuoso musicians as Ian Pace, Ricci Blackmore, Jon Lord, and vocalist Ian Gillan can compete on the same stage with Luciano Pavarotti.

Ageless rockers still travel all over the world, charging all their fans with crazy energy and hard rock drive. Each concert demonstrates the virtuosity of musical skill, gives an improvised performance with unexpected moves, immortal hits and a unique show.

At the beginning of its journey, it was a small group for which creativity has always come first. At the peak of their popularity, the composition of the group changed several times. Once, for a short period, the team broke up.

Fortunately for the fans, in February 1984 the musicians got back together. Gillan, Blackmore and Glover devoted three months to work on their new album "Perfect Strangers", which, after the presentation, gained worldwide popularity and went platinum, despite a ten-year break from working together.

Climbing the musical Olympus

The main breakthrough came with the recording of the Shades of Deep Purple album, which the musicians created in two days. The first step towards the conquest of America was taken.

A few years later, the group decides to perform with a symphony orchestra. The idea arose spontaneously and there was only three months to prepare.

The musicians did not know how to read music, so they wrote notes on top of the notes like: “Look at Malcolm at the moment of such and such a melody and start your part in 4 seconds.”

And, despite such seemingly serious moments, the concert blew up not only the hall, but also the media.

In 1970, the lead singer of Deep Purple made his film debut. He played the title role in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. And in 1972, the group's rating bypassed such popular bands as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.

Interesting facts from the life of musicians

According to Ian Gillan, among contemporaries there are no bands of such magnitude only because they promote not those who really have talent. Once, at the start of his career, Jan himself almost succumbed to the temptation to sing unpretentious compositions to order, and the manager then warned that he would continue to be associated with these stupid songs in everyone's memory.

The composition "Smoke On The Water" was written by Gillan on a napkin in a cafe, and Glover came up with the name for it. The reason was a tragic fire during the performance.

Ian Gillan often forgets words on stage, coming up with new ones on the go, which made Ricci very angry. When Blackmore noticed inconsistencies in the text, he stopped playing. The musicians sometimes even fought using a microphone stand and a guitar.

The group broke up twice. The first reunion ended in a bar fight between Ian and Richie. Negotiations for the second resurrection took place on a sober head, and the Deep Purple team resumed touring.

Yang has been in business for two years after he left the group for the first time. But a performance in 1975 at the Butterfly Ball concert returned him to the musical path. Arriving home, the soloist wrote three songs at once.

MOSCOW, 3 June. /Corr. TASS Georgy Perov/. British group Deep Purple performed on Thursday in the Russian capital. This concert has become an anniversary: in June 1996, the first visit of the legendary rockers to Moscow took place.

When the lights went out in the overcrowded hall of the Olympiysky sports complex, the traditional introduction sounded, anticipating the appearance of the musicians in front of the public. This time a fragment of Gustav Holst's suite "The Planets" was chosen. The performance opened with Highway Star (1972), followed by the infrequently performed 1970s Bloodsucker and Hard Lovin' Man.

It wasn't until the fourth song, Strange Kind of Woman (1971), that the band took a short break in which Ian greeted the fans. After saying "thank you" in Russian, he added in his native language: "It's incredible to be back in Moscow again." Then a composition from the last album of the quintet Now What?! (2013), also released as a single, by Vincent Price.

Their own numbers were shown by the youngest member of the rock band, 61-year-old American guitarist Steve Morse, as well as the only member of the first line-up, 67-year-old drummer Ian Paice, who completed the solo in absolute darkness.

The program was also prepared by 67-year-old keyboardist Don Airey, who replaced the late Deep Purple founder Jon Lord. An element of his solo was a fragment of the song "I'm walking around Moscow", which he always performed in Russia.

The almost two-hour program of the show included the 1972 hits Space Truckin and Smoke on the Water, as well as Perfect Strangers (1984). Having gone out for an encore, the band performed an excerpt from the Beatles composition Back in the U.S.S.R. (1968), which evolved into Hush (1968), the song that gave Deep Purple its first major success.

The group will make their next stop on June 4 in St. Petersburg, on June 6 they will perform in Rostov-on-Don, and on June 8 they will give a concert in Krasnodar, after which they will go further to Europe.

History of Deep Purple

The group was founded in 1968. The quintet's recordings were sold in millions of copies, and at one time it was considered, according to the Guinness Book of Records, the loudest on the planet. The current line-up of the team was formed in 2001.

Almost from the first years of its existence, the glory of the "Russian folk group" was fixed for Deep Purple. However, the band, which made a revolution in rock music, reached Russia only in 1996.

The group's last visit to Russia took place in autumn 2013. Moreover, Pace, Gillan, Morse and Airey came separately with their own projects.

The band has released 19 studio albums throughout its history.
