After graduating from nine classes, Roma, together with his mother and younger brother, returned to Taganrog. Elder brother Eduard stayed to work and live in Mariupol, got married. In Taganrog, Roma went to study at vocational school No. 23 as a builder, and later continued his studies at the Don College of Construction and Economics in a working specialty.
During his studies, he created the Asymmetry group, in which he played the guitar. In June 2000, having received a diploma, Roma goes to conquer Moscow.
Professional activity
Arriving in Moscow in the summer of 2000, at first he worked as a master finisher at the Tsereteli Museum of Modern Arts, making repairs and at the same time composing various compositions. There was a period when the hands of a young man fell, even wanted to commit suicide, but he was saved in time.
In the autumn of 2000, in search of creative solutions, he meets a music video maker and composer. Together with Roma in 2001, they founded the Beasts group, gathering a team of like-minded people from Khabarovsk, Minsk and Rostov using the Internet.
In 2003, their first debut studio album, Hunger, was released. In March 2004, the group achieved such popularity that they gathered the entire Luzhniki concert venue. In the same year, the second studio album of the group "Districts-Quarters" was released. According to Forbs magazine in 2007, the group entered the list of the richest Russian stars.
Among them, for example, at the Muz-TV award, the group won as the "Best Rock Band" nine times. In 2016, the band updated its line-up for unknown reasons, the guitarist, drummer and bassist changed.
Already with an updated line-up in the spring of 2017, the group successfully performed with the concert program "The Best" in Los Angeles and New York. And today, Roman and the group continue to tour periodically.
The artist is talented and multifaceted, in addition to working with the group, Roman writes autobiographical books: "Rain Pistols" (2006) - about his life before moving to Moscow, and "The Sun for Us" (2017) - about creating a group.

Only if there was some kind of zapara, I forgot, I didn’t find it, I didn’t have time, - the artist recalls. - I had four suits ready for Luzhniki. In the breaks between musical blocks, I changed clothes. For two hours to play in a T-shirt soaked to death, when it flows down your face, it fills your eyes - you don’t see anything, it’s very unpleasant. And in front of so many people! It's like a guy comes to a girl on a date in dirty clothes. We painted everything: the sequence of songs, what will happen in the pauses, so that there are no deflections and sags. We've never played two albums at once before. I had to distribute my strength in such a way that it remained for the last song.
It would seem that the musician and his team managed to win fame and recognition of the public in a short time, but few people know what the future star had to go through before his career took off.
It turns out that in order to earn a living, Roman worked at a construction site, while simultaneously doing his favorite thing - music. She didn't have a choice. (Laughs.) I invited her not as a director, but as an actress. Lera is my old friend, lately we rarely see each other. Shooting the video was a great opportunity to meet and have fun with friends. No one had to play anything, in the frame everyone was himself.
- You yourself starred in the films of Valeria Gai Germanika. Do you have similar outlooks on life? Are you a fan of her work?
We're just friends. Therefore, if Lera invites me to any of her projects, I always say yes. I am confident in her and that she will do everything so that I will not have any questions about the result.
- Who are your other friends?
- (Thinks.) I have few friends among musicians, more among artists and directors.
Your Instagram resembles a social page not of a rocker, but of an art critic. You have many photographs of paintings by Malevich, Chagall. Do you like Russian avant-garde?
Not exactly the Russian avant-garde... I love visiting museums - the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Louvre in Paris, the Prado in Madrid, and whenever possible I acquaint my subscribers with European painting, from the Renaissance to modern painting. Some patriots began to write to me: why are these only European masters, where are ours? So I decided to show ours. I went specially to the Central House of Artists in the new hall "Art of the XX century". I wanted to introduce people to artists they might not even have heard of. I didn’t see the point in writing about Shishkin, Vasnetsov and Aivazovsky: everyone already knows them. I photographed my favorite works and gave a little information about the artists. In general, everything I post on Instagram is my photos. I never take other people's work from the Internet: it's illegal and ugly.

- You have been fond of photography for quite a long time. What catches the eye of Roma the Beast?
Life. I do reportage photography and a bit of genre photography. I'm not interested in studio photography. I peep, I look, I observe what is happening around, and I try to capture it. I can sit and wait for a long time to get a good shot. I think this is the most important rule of reportage photography. To get it, it is not necessary to move and look for something. You just need to know how to wait.
Are you planning an exhibition of your work?
Yes, but the fact that I'm shooting on film slows down the prep process a bit. I have already scanned most of the films and selected the works that I would like to show people. It remains to make color proofs, print and see how it comes out on paper. Printing is also important. I hope to be able to arrange an exhibition by February.
Roman, lately you have not been seen so often on television, you do not take part in rating shows, and in general you rarely go out. Why?
It’s so convenient for me, I’m an introvert: I don’t like to attend social events, TV shows. Let's just say it's not mine. I don't feel comfortable in an atmosphere like this. At parties and television, I physically feel bad, and this can be seen in the frame and others.
- You do not shine, do not promote, and your concerts are always sold out. Who are all these people?
I didn't analyze who they are. Ordinary people come to concerts, we sing together together. And what they do, who they work for, I did not think. It seems to me that these are good people, since they listen to the "Beasts" group. (Smiling.)

- What kind of music do you listen to?
- (Roma takes out his phone, opens the player and shows his playlist.) Here is my music library: David Bowie, Edith Piaf, Florence and the Machine, Foo Fighters, Michael Jackson, "Agatha Christie", "Aquarium", "Cinema", "Ocean Elzy". Something like this.
Your latest album "One on One" is not as "brutal" as the previous ones, it's more lyrical. Of course, you've grown up, "candy and sex until the morning" is a thing of the past. What interests you now?
Candy still interests me. (Laughs) Now it's the same as before, only the lyrics have become more complicated, and the music is more melodic...
- And the form of submission has changed. The album was only released online. Satisfied with the result?
Yes. And the next album will also not be released on discs and vinyl, we will do it only in digital form.
- You are from Taganrog and often said that you do not like your hometown. Why?
It's not that I don't like my native Taganrog. I just don't like being there because it's in the past. All these memories of my youth are not very pleasant to me. And not needed. I believe that a person should live in the future, not the past. Yes, and there is nowhere to walk there, not like in St. Petersburg, where we shot the video. (Smiling.)
- By the way, your wife Marina starred in the video. Who owns the idea to use it?
In addition to Marina, there are two more wives in the video, but not mine. (Laughs) The idea was born spontaneously, Marina is a costume designer, she prepared images for the video for us. When there was no final script and not all the characters were approved, I decided to shoot Marina in the video. Everyone is with their wives, but what am I?! (Laughs.)
Many of your fans in this clip will see your wife for the first time, although you have been together for more than ten years ... Have you hidden your spouse from everyone?
Marina is modest, and I didn’t even think to invite her to go to some parties. A man is a monosyllabic being. If she wanted to, I would take her, but, thank God, this did not happen.
- How did Marina conquer you?
It is difficult to explain what attracts you to the person you love. Everyone! I love her for everything.
- In July, you became a dad again. How has Roma Zver changed with the advent of her second daughter?
So far, I don't feel any change. With a second child, it is much easier than with the first, but parents who have two or more know this. Probably, I still do not realize everything, I do not understand something. Well, good.
- There are now three women in your house - wife Marina, eldest daughter Olga and little Zoya. What are you like next to them?
I am at home at home. I cook food, do homework with my eldest daughter, and help my wife.

About what happened to me during the 15 years of my life in Moscow. I tried to analyze why all this happened to me. I tried to answer the most important questions: what was it, how did it end, am I happy?
