Bermuda Triangle- an area in the Atlantic Ocean, in which mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft allegedly occur. The area is bounded by lines from Florida to Bermuda, on to Puerto Rico, and back to Florida via the Bahamas. A similar "triangle" in the Pacific is called Devil's.

The area is very difficult to navigate: there are a large number of shoals, cyclones and storms often arise.

Various hypotheses are put forward to explain the mysterious disappearances in the zone, from unusual weather events to alien or Atlantean abductions. Skeptics argue, however, that the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda Triangle does not occur more often than in other areas of the world's oceans, and is due to natural causes. The US Coast Guard and Lloyd's Insurance Market share the same opinion.

Story

Associated Press correspondent Jones was the first to mention "mysterious disappearances" in the Bermuda Triangle, in 1950 he called the area the "Devil's Sea". The author of the phrase "Bermuda Triangle" is considered Vincent Gaddis, who published in 1964 in one of the journals devoted to spiritualism, the article "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle".

In the late 60s and early 70s of the XX century, numerous publications began to appear about the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle.

In 1974, Charles Berlitz, a proponent of the existence of anomalous phenomena in the Bermuda Triangle, published the book The Bermuda Triangle, which collected descriptions of various mysterious disappearances in the area. The book became a bestseller, and it was after its publication that the theory of the unusual properties of the Bermuda Triangle became especially popular. Later, however, it was shown that some of the facts in Berlitz's book were presented incorrectly.

In 1975, realist skeptic Lawrence David Kouchet ( English) published the book The Bermuda Triangle: Myths and Reality (Russian translation, M .: Progress, 1978), in which he argued that nothing supernatural and mysterious was happening in this area. This book is based on years of research on documents and interviews with eyewitnesses, which have revealed numerous factual errors and inaccuracies in the publications of supporters of the existence of the Bermuda Triangle mystery.

Incidents in the Bermuda Triangle

Proponents of the theory mention the disappearance of approximately 100 large ships and aircraft over the past hundred years. In addition to disappearances, serviceable ships abandoned by the crew and other unusual phenomena such as instantaneous spatial movements, anomalies with time, etc. are reported. Lawrence Kouchet and other researchers have shown that some of these cases occurred outside the Bermuda Triangle. About some incidents it was not possible to find any information in official sources.

Flight of Avengers (departure No. 19)

The most famous case mentioned in connection with the Bermuda Triangle is the disappearance of a flight of five Avenger-class torpedo bombers. These aircraft took off on December 5, 1945 from the US Naval Forces base in Fort Lauderdale and did not return back. Their wreckage has not been found.

According to Berlitz, a squadron of 14 experienced pilots mysteriously disappeared during a routine flight in clear weather over calm seas. It is also reported that in radio communications with the base, the pilots allegedly spoke of unexplained failures of navigation equipment and unusual visual effects - “we cannot determine the direction, and the ocean does not look like it usually does,” “we are sinking into white waters.” After the disappearance of the Avengers, other planes were sent to search for them, and one of them - the Martin Mariner seaplane - also disappeared without a trace.

According to Kusche, in fact, the link consisted of cadets who performed a training flight. Only their instructor, Lieutenant Taylor, was an experienced pilot, but he had only recently been transferred to Fort Lauderdale and was new to the flying area.

Recorded radio conversations say nothing about any mysterious phenomena. Lieutenant Taylor reported that he lost his bearings and both compasses failed him. Trying to determine his location, he mistakenly decided that the link was over the Florida Keys, south of Florida, so he was asked to orient himself by the sun and fly north. Subsequent analysis showed that, in fact, the planes were probably much to the east and, adhering to the course to the north, moved parallel to the coast. Poor radio conditions (interference from other radio stations) made it difficult to determine the exact position of the squadron.

After some time, Taylor decided to fly west, but failed to reach the coast, the aircraft ran out of fuel. The Avenger crews were forced to attempt a water landing. By this time it was already dark, and the sea, according to the reports of the ships that were then in that area, was very restless.

After it became known that the Taylor link was lost, other aircraft were sent to search for them, including two Martin Mariners. According to Kouchet, aircraft of this type had a certain disadvantage, which consisted in the fact that fuel vapors penetrated into the cabin and a spark was enough for an explosion to occur. The captain of the tanker Gaines Mills reported that he observed an explosion and falling debris and then found an oil slick on the surface of the sea.

C-119

The C-119 aircraft with 9 crew members disappeared on June 5, 1965 in the Bahamas. The exact time and place of the disappearance is unknown, and his search turned up nothing. Although the disappearance of a plane while flying across the Atlantic can be explained by many natural causes, this case is often associated with alien abduction.

theories

Proponents of the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle have put forward several dozen different theories to explain the mysterious phenomena that, in their opinion, occur there. These theories include space aliens or Atlanteans hijacking ships, travel through holes in time or rifts in space, and other paranormal causes. None of them have received confirmation yet. Other authors are trying to give a scientific explanation for these phenomena.

Their opponents argue that reports of mysterious events in the Bermuda Triangle are greatly exaggerated. Ships and aircraft are also dying in other parts of the world, sometimes without leaving a trace. A radio malfunction or the suddenness of a disaster can prevent the crew from transmitting a distress call. Searching for debris at sea is not an easy task, especially in a storm or when the exact location of the disaster is not known. Given the very busy traffic in the Bermuda Triangle, frequent cyclones and storms, a large number of shallows, then the number of disasters that have happened here that have not received an explanation is not unusually large. In addition, the notoriety of the Bermuda Triangle itself can lead to the fact that catastrophes are attributed to it, which in reality happened far beyond its borders, which introduces artificial distortions into the statistics.

Methane emissions

Several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the sudden death of ships and aircraft by gas emissions - for example, as a result of the decay of methane hydrate on the seabed. According to one of these hypotheses, large bubbles saturated with methane form in the water, in which the density is reduced so much that ships cannot swim and instantly sink. Some speculate that once airborne, methane could also cause plane crashes, for example, by lowering air density, which reduces lift and distorts altimeter readings. In addition, methane in the air can cause engines to stop.

Experimentally, the possibility of a fairly quick (within tens of seconds) flooding of a vessel that was at the boundary of a gas release was indeed confirmed if the gas is released in one bubble, the size of which is greater than or equal to the length of the vessel. However, the question of such gas emissions remains open. In addition, methane hydrate is found in other places in the world's oceans.

wandering waves

There are suggestions that the cause of the death of some ships, including those in the Bermuda Triangle, may be the so-called. wandering waves, which are believed to be up to 30 m high.

infrasound

It is assumed that under certain conditions, infrasound can be generated in the sea, which affects the crew members, causing panic, as a result of which they leave the ship.

There is one incredibly mysterious place in the Atlantic Ocean with the frightening name "Devil's Triangle" ("Bermuda Triangle") - there, under a strange coincidence, people, planes and ships disappear without a trace. In the article we will consider several cases of loss of transport and aircraft, and also try to explain the cause of this phenomenon.

This mysterious zone is bounded by a triangle whose vertices are the southern cape of Florida in the southeastern United States, the island of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean and Bermuda in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean.

Sailors call this place the "triangle of death" and the "cemetery of the Atlantic" for a reason: for several hundred years, travelers, having found themselves here, fall into suddenly formed fierce storms, unpredictable whirlpools, unexpected calms and a strange yellow fog.

According to eyewitnesses, in this place of the Atlantic Ocean, light spots covered with foam sometimes form on the water, radiating radiance. Sometimes the glow is so bright that astronauts can watch it from space. Even Christopher Columbus, crossing this part of the ocean, wrote in the ship's log about this unusual glow.

Proponents of the existence of anomalous phenomena in the Bermuda Triangle zone claim that over the past hundred years, about 100 ships and aircraft have disappeared in this area. They also report on other features of this territory: here you can meet serviceable ships abandoned by the crew or move in space and time.

According to some reports, about a thousand people disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle area - their corpses were never found.

Disappearance of the planes of the Avenger flight

The disappearance of a flight of Avengers on December 5, 1945 is often associated with the phenomenon of the Bermuda Triangle. The squadron consisted of four torpedo bombers, the pilots of which were undergoing a retraining program for this type of aircraft, as well as a fifth torpedo bomber, piloted by an experienced instructor pilot Charles Taylor - it was this pilot who flew about 2500 hours on the Avengers, and became the leader of the entire link.

Five torpedo bombers were to make a standard training flight over the ocean: a typical exercise included two turns and practical bombing. The route was well studied, the weather forecast was favorable, the cars were perfectly equipped for those times.

On board the aircraft were life jackets, inflatable boats with food supplies, flares and emergency radios; the fuel supply on the machines was enough for five and a half hours of work, while the duration of the training flight, according to all calculations, should not have exceeded two hours.

Information about what happened to the cars after departure is quite contradictory. It is known that the Avengers had problems about an hour and a half after takeoff: the lead torpedo bomber, piloted by Taylor, had both compasses out of order, and the entire “five” went astray.

The link wandered over the Bahamas for several hours in search of the right direction, and when the fuel supply came to an end, it was forced to land on the water. Communication with the pilots was unstable, and by the time they splashed down, it was completely cut off.

Nothing is known about the further fate of the squadron; the wreckage of the aircraft was never found. During the hearing on the loss of the Avengers, one of the speakers said: "They disappeared, as if they had flown to Mars!"

Disappearance of the seaplane "Martin Mariner"

On the same night, two Martin Mariner aircraft were sent to search for the Avengers, with one of which - board No. 49 - contact was lost in the area of the approximate location of the missing torpedo bombers.

The Coast Guard team saw an explosion in the air (presumably of this same aircraft), after which they observed a column of fire over the water for about 10 minutes.

The board No. 32 sent to the explosion area, due to difficult weather conditions, arrived at the site of the alleged crash only after 3 hours; several Coast Guard ships were also sent to search. However, the search operation was unsuccessful: no traces of the aircraft that crashed into the ocean could be found.

On the morning of December 6, 300 aircraft and 21 ships were sent to search for the missing Evagers and Martin Mariner; a large-scale search and rescue operation was also joined by a group of volunteers searching the coast. 5 days after the loss of the aircraft, the active phase of the search was terminated, the crew members were officially recognized as missing.

Disappearance of C-119

Twenty years later, in June 1965, about 400 kilometers from Miami, a C-119 aircraft disappeared under unknown circumstances; there were ten crew members on board.

The investigation failed to establish the exact cause of the disappearance of the C-119, which gave rise to several versions of what happened among researchers, journalists and ordinary people, the most unusual of which is the theory of the abduction of the aircraft by aliens.

The fact is that at the same time, a spacecraft with astronaut James McDivitt on board was in orbital flight over the Bahamas, which, in the C-119 disappearance square, saw and photographed an unidentified flying object with something like hands.

Some sources claim that McDivitt subsequently retracted his claims about the UFOs, and also said that he had nothing to do with the images.

Perhaps the media just made up this whole story with a flying saucer, but maybe the reason lies elsewhere: NASA simply forbade the astronaut to talk about this topic.

Possible Causes of Mysterious Incidents

There are dozens of different hypotheses that explain the mysterious incidents in the diabolical triangle zone.

Some experts put forward a version about the influence of unusual weather phenomena, others talk about the abduction of ships and aircraft by aliens or inhabitants of the mythical Atlantis, others are sure of the existence of so-called holes in time and faults in space.

There are also many people who are sure that the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle do not exist, because, according to their calculations, disappearances in this territory occur with the same frequency as in other places of the oceans. And the search for debris in the sea is not an easy task, especially in the Bermuda Triangle, where there are many shoals and storms and cyclones often arise.

So why does this place inspire so much horror in pilots and sailors? Why do navigation devices fail here? How to scientifically explain the disappearances of people, planes and ships without a trace?

Reasons for disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle:

Some scientists suggest that the so-called wandering waves are "to blame" for the mysterious incidents. These lonely 20-30-meter killer waves appear completely suddenly and have nothing to do with tsunamis: their appearance in the ocean is not associated with underwater earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and generally does not depend on catastrophic geophysical processes.

Scientists did not believe in the existence of abnormally high waves for a long time, because according to science, waves higher than 20.7 meters cannot form in the oceans. Only in 1995, a wave was recorded for the first time in the North Sea, the height of which reached 25 meters.

This fact contributed to the emergence of a project called "Atlas of Waves", the main task of which is to monitor the surface of the ocean, compile a world atlas of wandering waves and statistically process the data obtained.

After the research, some experts began to argue that killer waves could well have caused the death of large ships in the zone of the terrifying triangle and throughout the oceans.

According to one version, a possible reason for the appearance of the so-called ghost ships (i.e. abandoned by the crew of the ships) in the open sea is infrasound generated on the water under certain conditions.

There are natural and man-made sources of infrasound.

Natural include:

  • earthquakes,
  • hurricanes,
  • storms,
  • lightning strikes.

And the work of various equipment is classified as man-made:

  • heavy machines,
  • fans,
  • turbines,
  • jet and marine engines, etc.

Infrasound has a depressing effect on the nervous system, it can harm the organs of the endocrine system and the internal organs of a living being. According to research, infrasonic waves cause dry mouth, dizziness, coughing, choking, tinnitus and other signs of failure in the body.

Many scientists are convinced that under the influence of infrasound, the crew, succumbing to panic, can leave the ship, which is not in physical danger.

3. Human factor

Getting off course in the Bermuda Triangle is pretty easy, especially given the fast currents, the often changing weather, and the huge number of islands scattered throughout the area, similar to each other like twin brothers.

For example, many blame Lieutenant Taylor for the disappearance of the Avengers: having lost his way, he mistakenly determined that the link was flying over the Florida Keys, so in the center he was advised to keep heading north, guided by the sun.

But it is quite possible that the Avengers were located much east of the Keys, and therefore, moving north, for some time they flew parallel to the coast. The decision to fly west was taken by Taylor too late: fuel supplies had run out, and darkness was creeping up on him. "Five" was forced to splash down, and the sea that evening was extremely restless.

4. Imperfect technique

Presumably, many accidents in the Bermuda Triangle are associated with the imperfection of ships and aircraft.

For example, the mysterious disappearance of the Martin Mariner is usually explained as follows: fuel vapors from this type of aircraft penetrated the cockpit, and it was enough just to light a match to cause an explosion; the pilots of these planes are said to have referred to them among themselves as "flying tanks".

One of the hypotheses explaining the disappearances in the “triangle of death” is the formation of bubbles filled with methane hydrate in the depths of the ocean; The “ripened” bubble rises to the surface of the water, and, bursting, forms a funnel into which the ship is drawn.

Methane that has risen into the air can also contribute to the crash of aircraft: its interaction with a hot engine leads to an explosion.

6. Comet at the bottom of the ocean

According to this hypothesis, 11 thousand years ago, in a place that is now called the Bermuda Triangle, a comet fell to the bottom of the ocean. According to some experts, the electromagnetic properties of this celestial body can distort the data of navigation instruments and even disable aircraft engines.

For centuries, pirates have terrified sailors across the Atlantic Ocean. This theory can explain many mysterious incidents in the Bermuda Triangle zone, but not the disappearance of aircraft.

In the 70s of the last century, pilot Bruce Gernon from Florida, flying over the Bermuda Triangle, got into a strange rapidly growing cloud, gradually transforming into a tunnel.

According to the pilot, he had to fly into the tunnel, which rotated counterclockwise. A few minutes later, the plane, "emerging" from the cloud, was in the Miami area. It is noteworthy that the flight took 28 minutes less time than usual.

9. Compass malfunctions

In the zone of the Bermuda Triangle, the compass needle does not point to the planet's magnetic north, but to the true (geographic) north, so ships can, without even knowing it, start moving in the wrong direction. But usually the difference in compass performance is taken into account by sailors when plotting a course in the area.

Warm and cold air masses colliding with each other, the fast current of the Gulf Stream, tropical cyclones in summer and sudden storms in winter - all this creates difficult conditions for the movement of aircraft and ships.

The Bermuda Triangle: an unsolvable phenomenon or a great hoax?

Disputes between supporters of the existence of anomalous phenomena in the Bermuda Triangle zone and skeptics have not subsided for many years. Some of the events that took place there remain a mystery to this day without a solution, but most of them still either lend themselves to a logical explanation or are fiction.

Fantasists and hoaxers (some writers, as well as journalists can be attributed to them) love to embellish and modify information: dates, places, names of ships are confused, any facts that could easily explain the tragedies in the Bermuda Triangle are deliberately hushed up. There was a case when information appeared in the media about one disappeared ship, which actually did not disappear anywhere, but calmly plowed the expanses of the Atlantic Ocean.

We, ordinary people with our inherent curiosity, have one weakness: love for all sorts of mysterious, terrifying stories. Perhaps that is why we so like to believe that the Bermuda Triangle hides something mysterious, fantastic.

The Bermuda Triangle is an area in the Atlantic Ocean bounded by a triangle whose vertices are Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. Those who are of the opinion that the mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft in the Devil's Triangle do occur, put forward various hypotheses to explain them: from unusual weather events to abductions by aliens or residents of Atlantis.

15. Christopher Columbus was the first to talk about the anomalies of the Bermuda Triangle.

In 1492, Christopher Columbus wanted to find a new way to Asia, and discovered America. Columbus was the first known traveler to cross the area of the Atlantic that we now call the Bermuda Triangle. His ship's log contains a description of the sea, completely filled with algae, a story about the unusual behavior of the compass needle, about the sudden appearance of a huge tongue of flame, about the strange glow of the sea.

14. Most of the missing ships and aircraft have never been found.

From the 1600s, ships began to disappear in the ill-fated triangle. Many associate the loss with the Gulf Stream. Due to the speed of water, reaching 2.5 meters per second, in this current, any debris, debris, and even an aircraft in just a couple of minutes will be carried to a distance of several kilometers. In 1925, the Clinchfield Navigation cargo ship SS Cotopaxi disappeared without a trace. This year, the Cuban Coast Guard discovered a ship missing 90 years ago in the Caribbean. There were no traces of the crew on board.

13. In the Bermuda Triangle zone, the compass shows the wrong direction.

Compasses in this area behave strangely and give incorrect readings. It is generally accepted that the Earth's electromagnetic field has holes. There are a large number of areas on Earth where the compass will not point due north. So the Bermuda Triangle is not the only place on the planet where similar anomalies occur.

12 More Vessels Missing In The Bermuda Triangle Than We Know

Not all stories of the disappearance of ships and aircraft are covered by the media. Moreover, some disasters are attributed to the human factor. According to skeptics, those ships that crashed and disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle just fell victim to crew errors.

11. Disappearance of carriages

In 1872, the Mary Celeste sailed from Staten Island, New York, to the port of Genoa, Italy. On the ship, in addition to the captain and a crew of 7 people, there was the captain's wife and his two-year-old daughter. The ship was discovered 4 weeks later, without a crew. At the same time, provisions, personal belongings, money and jewelry remained intact. And the arrangement of things testified that the ship did not fall into a strong storm.

10. The size of the Bermuda Triangle is much larger

The area of the Bermuda Triangle within its classical boundaries is just over 1 million square kilometers. But some experts suggest that the anomalous region is much larger.

9. Not only ships disappear, but planes too

The most famous case cited in connection with the Bermuda Triangle is the disappearance of a flight of five Avenger-class torpedo bombers. These planes took off on December 5, 1945 from the US Naval Forces base in Fort Lauderdale and did not return back. Their wreckage, like the crew, was not found. After the disappearance of the Avengers, other planes were sent to search for them, and one of them also disappeared without a trace.

8. Portal of time

In 1970, Bruce Gernon, along with his father and a friend, flew from the Bahamas and headed for Miami Beach, Florida, USA. Shortly after climbing, the pilot noticed a strange semi-circular cloud directly ahead. There were bright flashes inside the cloud, Gernon and the passengers felt a feeling similar to weightlessness. All navigational instruments were out of order, the compass needle darted in all directions. When the plane took off from that tunnel, Bruce saw that he was already flying up to Miami Beach. At the same time, the flight took only 45 minutes, although it should have lasted at least 75!

7. Anomalies don't just happen in the Bermuda Triangle

Devil's Sea - this is how Japanese fishermen dubbed the Pacific waters around the island of Miyakejima (128 km south of Tokyo), located in the northern part of the Philippine Sea. Paranormal activity researchers bring this zone closer to the Bermuda Triangle for the reason that ships and planes mysteriously disappear in it.

6. Bad reputation

Despite the bad reputation, many routes of both ships and aircraft pass through the Bermuda Triangle every day. At the same time, nothing is heard about mysterious disappearances and catastrophes.

5. Atlantis at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle

Exploration of the ocean floor off the coast of Cuba with the help of a deep-sea robot confirmed that at the very bottom of the Bermuda Triangle there is a city of gigantic proportions. Scientists suggest that this is Atlantis. “The US government received evidence of the existence of an underwater city during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 60s of the last century. The nuclear submarine then moved along the Gulf Stream deep into the sea, where they discovered the structure of the pyramids. They immediately took control of the place so that it would not end up in the hands of the Soviet Union,” the journalists say.

4 Alien Territory

Although the existence of aliens has not yet been proven, some attribute everything that happens in the Bermuda Triangle to them. In 2009, unknown lights appeared in the night sky over this zone, which even formed something similar to a whirlpool, and disappeared an hour later.

3. Unpredictable weather

In the area of the Bermuda Triangle, severe tropical cyclones, storms and hurricanes are often observed. They happen most often unexpectedly.

2. Rogue waves

It has been suggested that rogue waves, which are believed to be up to 30 meters high, may be responsible for the loss of some ships in the Bermuda Triangle.

1. Coincidence and the human factor

Skeptics argue that the main reason for the disappearance of more than 100 ships in the Bermuda Triangle is the human factor. To err is human, and even an experienced captain or pilot is not immune from error.

The abode of Satan himself, the sea cemetery, the horror of the Atlantic - all these terrible epithets are called the mystical zone in the Atlantic Ocean. Every year, ships and planes mysteriously disappear from the Bermuda Triangle. What is it - the sick imagination of journalists or a truly dangerous and mystical zone, shrouded in mystery and mystery?

The first mention of the devil's zone

The Bermuda Triangle in the ocean is a sensation that has been haunting humanity for half a century. This anomalous zone was first mentioned in 1950. An American researcher named E. Jones wrote a short article, formatting the material in the form of a brochure, in which he placed several photos. But at that time, almost no one paid attention to it. Until in 1964 another American researcher named W. Gaddis wrote about the Bermuda Triangle. He told about the real danger that this mystical area is fraught with. But the real fear in the layman was brought by a book called The Bermuda Triangle, written by Charles Berlitz. Since then, this topic has not ceased to be relevant throughout the world.

Where is the Bermuda Triangle

Conditionally symbolic peaks of this mystical zone are the following areas: Bermuda, the southern cape of Florida, Puerto Rico. The marked points are unofficial, as the boundaries of the Bermuda Triangle are constantly being adjusted, moving them, for example, closer to the Gulf of Mexico or joining the Caribbean Sea. Many researchers also attribute part of the Azores to the anomalous zone, near which many incredible events took place. Therefore, it is still impossible to get an unambiguous answer to the question “where is the Bermuda Triangle located”.

The most common theories regarding ongoing phenomena

There are dozens of versions as to what is actually happening in the Bermuda Triangle. Some of them are incredible and defy logic, while others, on the contrary, are more rational and almost scientifically sound. We will consider several assumptions below.

Mysterious gas bubbles

For the first time in 2000, several physicists in the laboratory decided to find out what happens to an object that is on the surface of bubbling water.

After a series of experiments, they came to the following conclusion: when bubbles appear in the water, its density decreases significantly, and the level rises, while the lifting force exerted by water on the ship is minimized. Therefore, if there are enough bubbles, then the ship may well sink.

The description of this experiment, carried out in the laboratory, and its results have long been published. But can bubbles actually sink a large ship? This is still unknown, because such studies have not yet been carried out in the so-called field conditions, that is, directly in the area of the Bermuda Triangle.

insidious algae

There is a version that the ships allegedly "suck" huge algae into the water column. This opinion is as implausible as the fact that the devil himself lives here. Everything is explained by the fact that the water area of the Bermuda Triangle is comparable to the Sargasso Sea, the flora of which is rich in various algae. Sailors who are not accustomed to such a spectacle are simply frightened and turn on their developed imagination.

lonely waves

In 1984, a competition between sailboats was held in Spain. The route lay from Puerto Rico through Bermuda. A 40-meter ship called the Marquez, built in 1917 in Spain, led the race ahead of ships leaving Bermuda. This is where the trouble happened. A strong squall came up, which tilted the ship, and at that moment, out of nowhere, a giant wave arose and hit the ship on the port side. This case is one of the few that excited the public.

Such waves can reach 30 meters in height. They appear unexpectedly and in an instant can sink a large ship. The wave that hit the side of the Marquez covered it with a wall of water, and the second one soon followed - deadly. It was she who decided the fate of the ship. 19 people died.

In the Bermuda Triangles, such waves are caused by the Gulf Stream, which lies near the United States. The reasons for their formation are simple: the waters of the Gulf Stream, flowing from south to north, meet with a storm front moving from north to south.

Waves form behind the storm front and follow in the same direction. Towards them, to the north, the waves formed by the Gulf Stream are moving. After their collision, a huge mass of water rises. And when nothing seems to portend danger, waves 3-5 meters high suddenly turn into 25-meter "monsters".

Unfortunately, today there is no device that would control or predict the occurrence of such a destructive phenomenon.

alien invasion

Some argue that this territory is commanded by aliens who are trying to study our planet. They allegedly destroy ships and planes so that no one will ever know about their visit.

Weather

This version is the most common and quite plausible. Constant weather changes, unexpected storms, storms, hurricanes become dangerous for any kind of transport.

Clouds with mysterious charges

This version was also considered by scientists. Many pilots who flew over the Bermuda Triangle area claimed to be in the center of a black cloud, within which lightning discharges and bright flashes sparkled.

So, the missing "link 19" before its crash transmitted a message that they were enveloped in some kind of dark cloud, due to which visibility was significantly impaired.

infrasound

There is a version that a sound appears in these areas, which terrifies all passengers and forces them to leave the transport.

During underwater earthquakes or landslides, powerful infrasonic vibrations occur at the bottom of the ocean, but scientists have proven that they can in no way be associated with a danger to life.

Relief features

Most researchers are inclined to believe that it is the complex topography of this anomalous zone that is to blame. Everything is explained by the fact that under the Bermuda Triangle there is a deep-water trench, mountains that reach a height of 150-200 meters, and cone-shaped hills with a diameter of tens of kilometers. Therefore, finding sunken ships in this area is almost impossible.

If you look under the water, then Bermuda resembles a huge dormant volcano. A depression extends from it to the north, the maximum depth of which reaches 8 km. It is in this area that most of the terrible incidents are observed.

It should be noted that Puerto Rico (deep trench) is the deepest part of the entire Atlantic (8742 km). Therefore, to find a sunken ship or a crashed plane here, again, is simply unrealistic.

The Bermuda Triangle, whose secrets have not yet been revealed, has the Blake Escarpment in the west - these are the steepest cliffs in the entire mystical Atlantic region. Some of them reach two kilometers in height. And the continental plume is divided in two by the most active current in the world - the Gulf Stream.

But even such unusual relief features cannot fully answer the questions that pundits and ordinary people have and shed at least a little light on these mysterious phenomena. The secrets of the Bermuda Triangle still remain beyond reason.

Mysticism at the bottom of the mysterious triangle

The well-known legend about the city that disappeared along with its inhabitants is no longer a legend at all. So say Canadian scientists who found a sunken settlement at the bottom of the Atlantic. This city is located off the east coast of Cuba, 700 meters from the most mystical zone in the whole world. The Bermuda Triangle was explored underwater by a robot that dived to the depths and photographed the surroundings. The images were subsequently studied by Canadian researchers who made an incredible discovery. What does the Bermuda Triangle hide from the eyes of people? Photos showed that at its bottom there are buildings, pyramids and figures, on the walls of which there are unfamiliar records. According to experts, the discovered buildings are very reminiscent of ancient architecture. The city at the bottom was discovered by Canadian scientists. In fact, they collided with the pyramids lying at the bottom of the triangle 10 years ago. At that time, the couple worked for the government, studying the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and looking for sunken ships and missing treasures.

At the end of the ice age, the water level rose significantly, which is why many cities, islands and even continents were at the bottom of the ocean. The found settlement, according to scientists, is one of those.

There is an opinion that American researchers noticed this city in the late 50s, but they did not tell anyone about the find.

It is also known that the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle has not yet been studied by scientists themselves, so we will wait for new discoveries.

Mysterious disappearance in the Bermuda Triangle

Over the past 50 years, the Bermuda Triangle has gained a terrible reputation, which is why many are afraid to travel in these parts. They try to bypass the anomalous zone by the tenth road. The sad story of "link 19" has become widely known. Shortly after the disappearance of 5 Navy bombers, observers began to notice something strange. But first things first.

On December 5, 1945, 5 torpedo bombers, the crew of which consisted of 14 people, were preparing for a normal flight from the Florida airfield. In accordance with the plan, the bombers were supposed to fly to the Bahamas and conduct target practice there - the remains of a sunken ship. They flew over the ship several times and turned north towards the Bahamas. The detachment acted in accordance with the plan. Soon the crew of one of the planes, led by pilot Taylor, reported that they had gone astray. All his navigation devices have simply failed, and he cannot find a landmark. Meanwhile, the weather began to change suddenly. The wind changed its direction and began to blow from the north.

The control tower struggled to send them on the right route - towards Florida, but Taylor was completely confused and refused to listen to the dispatcher. Pilots in desperation circled over the water, trying to find at least something resembling land. But the weather got worse. Later, radio communication was cut off completely. The last thing we heard from one of the pilots was the words "white wall" and "strange water."

The next day, the search for the missing planes began. Several helicopters set out to carry out this dangerous mission. But here, too, something strange happened. One of them disappeared in the same mysterious way. But later the rescuers still managed to find out what happened to him. The sailors of the ship, passing very close, said that they heard a strong explosion high in the sky.

But neither the wreckage of the missing bombers, nor any remnants of the "search engine" were found. What happened to the planes? Where does the Bermuda Triangle hide its victims? The answers to these questions are not yet known to anyone.

Have the planes of "link 19" been found?

In 1991, the British scientist Graham Hawks made a real discovery. He claimed to have found five "link 19" aircraft. Quite by chance, while searching for a Spanish galleon, he, along with other members of the research group, allegedly stumbled upon the wreckage of fighters. Observations were recorded.

This story hit the headlines of all newspapers and magazines, and also created a stir among journalists and ordinary citizens. Graham promised to deal with this curious story within 2 weeks. Since submarines were incredibly expensive, the scientist decided to use an underwater camera, which was controlled by a special wire. After reviewing the resulting images, the researchers concluded that the planes did not belong to the “link 19”, and became even more confused.

After some time, Graham decides to go to this mysterious place himself in order to understand what kind of planes they are. Together with him, one of the relatives of the missing pilot of "link 19" follows in search.

Having descended to the bottom of the ocean (to a depth of 220 meters), they notice an object that looks like a disappeared fighter.

The detected aircraft was broken into 2 parts, the wing and tail were completely torn off. The researchers found out that this fighter took off from Fort Lauderdale (from where the “link 19” also departed), and they determined this by the first letters (FT 23). But such meager information was clearly not enough to fully identify the aircraft.

After a while, Graham and his crew descend to the bottom again to find some more evidence, and find the other 4 planes. On one of them, the researchers noticed the inscription "FT 87" and saw an open cockpit, which means that the team could get out. Near the porthole, the researchers find a number on the wall of the plane (23990). At that time, similar numbers were assigned to each fighter, so with its help it was easy to find out what kind of object lies at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle.

Later, the researchers came to the conclusion that 4 aircraft definitely belonged to the “link 19”. What about the first find? Perhaps this is the missing search engine.

But there are still many questions. How did the Bermuda Triangle, whose photos suggest terrible thoughts, "swallowed" all 5 planes at the same time? And why did such an experienced pilot as Taylor make a fatal mistake, because the radars of neighboring aircraft were still working, and it was possible to contact the controllers? What was going on in his head, what was he thinking at that moment, why did he turn in the opposite direction if only 20 km remained to his destination? All these mysteries still remain unsolved.

After considering the situation from all sides, psychologists concluded that Taylor was affected by some kind of psychological factor, for example, spatial disorientation, which did not give him the opportunity to save himself and his crew.

"Cyclops"

In 1918, an American ship called the Cyclops went missing. This is the most significant loss, because 309 people disappeared without a trace with him.

This ship was a cargo ship, it transported fuel during the First World War. The length of the ship was 165 meters. Therefore, everyone is still at a loss, how could such a colossus disappear without a trace in the depths of the ocean?

In 1918, the loaded ship went to the United States, but never returned. The Cyclops was last seen in Barbados. Nobody sent any messages from the ship, therefore, everything went according to plan. But the connection was suddenly interrupted and ... the end.

Later, the Navy organized the largest search operation, but neither the wreckage of the ship nor the remains of the crew were ever found. Researchers believe that the wave is to blame for everything, which completely swallowed the ship and sent it to the bottom. But why has no trace been found so far? The answer, again, remains a mystery.

What is the Bermuda Triangle? Is the secret revealed or not? What is hidden in this anomalous zone? Are the events taking place in this place really mystical? Or can there be a logical explanation for everything? Who knows if mankind will find answers to all these questions... And will the future throw other mysteries?

Today, like 50 years ago, the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle excite the minds of the public. Will we ever be able to unravel this mystery, will we be able to predict the natural anomalies that occur in this territory? Let's hope we find out about this in the near future.

Bermuda Triangle- the legendary region of the Atlantic Ocean between Puerto Rico, Florida and Bermuda, in which, according to many researchers, many inexplicable phenomena occur. Indeed, drifting ships were found here quite often, both with dead crews and without them. There have also been fixed disappearances of planes and ships, failure of navigation instruments, radio transmitters, clocks, etc. The English researcher Lawrence D. Kusche collected and analyzed in chronological order more than 50 cases of the disappearance of ships and aircraft in the area and came to the conclusion that the legend of the "triangle" is nothing more than an artificially fabricated hoax, which I twisted the result of carelessly conducted research, and then it was finalized by authors who are fond of sensations. The same point of view was held by the Soviet academician L.M. Brekhovskikh and many other researchers. In favor of such an "official" point of view, it can be added that in reality there are not so many catastrophes in the "terrible" place, a huge amount of air and sea traffic passes through this region of the Atlantic.

The "ordinary" mysterious disappearances were no longer enough for lovers of sensations, therefore, postscripts, omissions and simply deception (in some cases this is completely proven) were used, as a result of which ships that drowned either for quite trivial reasons (Japanese ship " Raifuku Maru, around which legends arose, in 1924 crashed in front of another steamer precisely because of a severe storm; the three-masted schooner Star of Peace was sent to the bottom by an exploding diesel engine in the blink of an eye), or far from the Bermuda area (German the barque "Frea" in 1902 was "transferred" by the press from the Pacific Ocean due to an accidental coincidence in the names of the area; the trimaran "Teanmouth Electron" in 1989 was actually abandoned by the crew, but not reaching 1800 miles to the "triangle"), or not even ships at all (the erroneous alarm, for example, was raised twice because of half-flooded buoys set by "Akademik Kurchatov" in 1978).

Real, recorded cases of ship disappearances are hardly more than 10-15% of what was reported in sensational newspaper publications. Nevertheless, in the investigation of these particular cases from the "gold reserve" of bermudologists, the supporters of the "official point of view" also did not show a truly scientific approach, and in the 13th book of the same L. Kusche one can find a number of frauds and reticences precisely in cases with the most mysterious incidents.

A number of researchers who do not agree with this position point primarily to events that have not received an unambiguous clear explanation. Here is the sudden disappearance, and then the appearance 10 minutes later on the radar screen of an aircraft in the Miami area, and the luminous "white waters" in the Sargasso Sea, and the sudden failure of the most reliable equipment, and the ships suddenly abandoned by the crews, which are in good condition. Of course, among this part of scientists there is no unambiguous solution to all the questions posed by the "triangle". For example, Academician V.V. Shuleikin explains the fact of ships abandoned by the crews by infrasonic vibrations generated in the water, under the influence of these infrasonic waves, crew members can fall into a state of panic and leave the ship. But there are at least two dozen more hypotheses that explain the same fact: from versions with the abduction of people by aliens with UFOs to assumptions about the involvement of the mafia in this disappearance.

The most mysterious so far is the story of the disappearance of 6 aircraft, which occurred on the evening of December 5, 1945.

At 14:10, five Avenger aircraft with 14 pilots took off, reached the training target in the ocean, and at about 15:30-15:40 set back on a course to the southwest.

At 15.45 (just a few minutes after the last turn) at the command post of the air base Fort Lauderdale received the first strange message: "We have an emergency situation. Obviously, we have lost our course. We do not see the ground, I repeat, we do not see the ground."

The dispatcher made a request for their coordinates. The answer greatly puzzled all the officers present: "We can not determine our location. We do not know where we are now. We seem to be lost!" It was as if not an experienced pilot was speaking into the microphone, but a bewildered novice who had no idea about navigation over the sea! In this situation, the representatives of the airbase made the only correct decision: "Keep heading west!"

Airplanes will not slip past the long coast of Florida. But... "We don't know where the west is. It doesn't work... It's strange... We can't determine the direction. Even the ocean doesn't look the same as usual!.." due to the sharply increased atmospheric interference, these advice, apparently, were not heard. The controllers themselves had difficulty picking up fragments of the radio conversations between the pilots: “We don’t know where we are. It must be 225 miles northeast of the base ... It looks like we ...”

At 4:45 pm, a strange message arrives from Taylor: "We are over the Gulf of Mexico." Ground controller Don Pool decided that the pilots were either embarrassed or crazy, the indicated place was on the completely opposite side of the horizon!

At 17.00 it became clear that the pilots were on the verge of a nervous breakdown, one of them was shouting on the air: "Damn it, if we had flown west, we would have got home!" Then Taylor's voice: "Our home is in the northeast ..." The first fright soon passed somewhat, some islands were noticed from the planes. "Under me is the ground, rugged terrain. I'm sure it's Keys..."

Ground services also located the missing, and there was hope that Taylor would restore orientation ... But everything turned out to be in vain. Darkness has come. The planes that took off in search of a link returned with nothing (another plane disappeared during the search) ...

Taylor's most recent words are still in dispute. Radio amateurs were able to hear: "It seems that we are sort of ... we are sinking into white waters ... we are completely lost ..." According to reporter and writer A. Ford, in 1974, after 29 years, one radio amateur shared such information : allegedly the commander's last words were: "Don't follow me... They look like people from the Universe..." ["Abroad", 1975, No. 45, p. 18]. In my opinion, the last phrase is probably invented or interpreted later: before 1948, people would almost certainly have used the expression "descendants from Mars" in such a situation. Even at a meeting of the Commission to investigate this incident, they subsequently dropped the phrase: "They disappeared as irrevocably as if they had flown to Mars!" It is unlikely that Taylor would have used the little-used word "Universe", especially since even science fiction writers did not think about aliens from there ...

So, the first and indisputable conclusion that follows from listening to radio recordings is that the pilots encountered something unusual and strange in the air. This fateful meeting was the first not only for them, but they probably did not hear about such a thing from their colleagues and friends. Only this can explain the strange disorientation and panic in a normal regular situation. The ocean has a strange look, "white water" has appeared, the arrows of the instruments are dancing - you must admit that this list can frighten anyone, but not experienced naval pilots, who must have already found the right course over the sea in extreme conditions. Moreover, they had a great opportunity to return to the coast: it was enough to turn to the west, and then the planes would never have flown past the huge peninsula.

This is where we come to the root cause of the panic. The bomber link, in full accordance with common sense and on recommendations from the ground, searched for land only in the west for about an hour and a half, then for about an hour - alternately in the west and east. And didn't find it. The fact that an entire American state has disappeared without a trace can drive even the most persistent of minds.

In fairness, it must be said that at the end of their flight they saw the land, but did not dare to splash down nearby in shallow water. Visually, from the outlines of the islands, Taylor determined that he was above the Florida Keys (southwest of the southern tip of Florida) and at first even turned northeast towards Florida. But soon, under the influence of colleagues, he doubted what he saw and returned to his previous course, as if he were much east of Florida, i.e. where it should be and where it was located by ground-based radar installations.

But where were they really? On the ground, the crew's report of Kees' sighting was taken as the ravings of panicked pilots. The direction finders could be wrong by exactly 180 degrees and this property was taken into account, but at that moment the operators knew that the planes were somewhere in the Atlantic (30 degrees N, 79 degrees W) north of the Bahamas and they were just in it could not occur to me that the missing link was in fact already much to the west, in the Gulf of Mexico. If so, then Taylor could really be seeing the Florida Keys, and not "looking like the Florida Keys."

Perhaps the DF operators in Miami were unable to distinguish signals coming from the southwest from those coming from the northeast. The mistake cost the pilots their lives: apparently, having searched in vain for land in the west and having used up all the fuel, they landed on the water and sank, while they themselves were searched in vain in the east ... In 1987, it was there, on the shelf bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, and one of the "Avengers" built in the forties was found! ["Pravda", 1987, March 2]. It is possible that the other 4 are also somewhere nearby. It remains to ask the question: how could the planes move seven hundred kilometers to the west unnoticed by everyone?

Cases of, if not instantaneous, then ultra-fast movements of aircraft are already known to aviation historians. During World War II, a Soviet bomber returning from a mission overran an airfield in the Moscow region for more than a thousand kilometers and landed in the Urals... disappeared from sight"... These and many other similar cases are united by the fact that ultra-fast flights were always made in strange clouds (white fog, some kind of haze, sparkling haze). It is precisely in these terms that eyewitnesses reward another strange phenomenon in which there is a rapid movement in time; for example, after walking for half an hour or an hour in the "strange white fog" on the island of Barsakelmes in the Aral Sea, travelers returned a day later.

And in the Bermuda Triangle itself, "white fog" is not such a rare guest. After meeting with him, one day an airliner approaching Miami disappeared from the locator screens ... and when it reappeared 10 minutes later, all the clocks on board were behind by the same minutes. On that flight, none of the passengers noticed anything unusual; it is possible that also imperceptible to the eye will be a sudden increase in speed due to "tricks" over time. At the same time, except for the notorious fog and post-flight verification of chronometers, pilots should notice the dance of the arrows on some instruments and even interruptions in radio communications (you have to talk to the ground - a place where the usual course of time does not coincide with the anomalous "heavenly"). Recall that it was after the Avenger pilots mentioned that a strange fog had appeared and that five compasses had failed at once, radio contact with them disappeared and was subsequently restored only occasionally.

Such anomalous places occasionally arise also because the course of physical time is influenced to some extent by all bodies moving in a circle. This effect, as follows from the experiments of Professor Nikolai Kozyrev, can be achieved on a very small scale even with the help of tiny flywheels. What can we say about the Bermuda region in the Atlantic, where the powerful Gulf Stream swirls water eddies hundreds of kilometers in diameter! (It is precisely such formations that sometimes become visible on the surface of the ocean in the form of white or even faintly luminous circles and "wheels".) Whirlwinds spin - time changes - gravity must also change. In the center of the vortex (where American satellites recorded the water level 25-30 meters below normal) gravity is increased, and at the periphery it is reduced. Is it not the cause of many shipwrecks that the cargoes in the hold suddenly increase in weight? With non-uniform loading and exceeding the safety margin of the hull, a catastrophe is almost inevitable! To complete the tragic picture, we must add to this the unreliability of radio communications in such places ...

Of course, after the first reports about the Bermuda "tricks", over time, new chilling, but not always true, details began to appear in the press ... Not so long ago, the American weekly "News" told about an amazing incident with an American submarine sailing in the "triangle "at a depth of 200 feet (70 m). Once the sailors heard a strange noise overboard and felt a vibration that lasted about a minute. Following this, it was noticed that the people in the team allegedly aged very quickly. And after surfacing with the help of a satellite navigation system, it turned out that the submarine was in the Indian Ocean, 300 miles from the east coast of Africa and 10 thousand miles from Bermuda! Well, why not a repetition with the movement of technical devices, only not in the air, but in the water? True, it is too early to draw conclusions in this story: the US Navy, as before in such cases, does not confirm, but does not refute this information either.

But some conclusions can be drawn in the case of the missing squadron back in 1945. Most likely, in the sky over the Bermuda Triangle, this link collided with a non-stationary nomadic anomalous zone, in which their instruments failed and radio communications went haywire. Then the planes, being in a "strange fog", moved at a very high speed to the Gulf of Mexico, where the pilots recognized with surprise the local ridge of islands ...

Let's clarify what "very fast" means. So, an hour and a half after takeoff, the planes fall into a strange fog, where all their instruments fail, INCLUDING THE WATCH. At 16.45, the planes come out of the clouds and restore their orientation (from the reports one can hear that they already trust the compasses). According to the airfield ground clock, 2.5 hours of flight had passed, and there was still 3 hours of fuel left. How much time has passed according to the aircraft clock (out of order) - it's hard to say. It is unlikely that pilots could answer this question correctly either: in extreme situations, time perception differs sharply from the usual one. Only one mechanism can give us an answer - these are aircraft engines, they were the only ones that continued to work normally in the anomalous zone! So, at 5:22 p.m., Taylor announced, "When anyone has 10 gallons [38 liters] of fuel left, we're splashing!" Judging by the phrase, the fuel was indeed coming to an end. Apparently, soon the planes splashed down because at 18.02 on the ground they heard the phrase: "... At any moment it can drown ..." This means that the fuel in the torpedo bombers ran out between 17.22 and 18.02, while it should have been enough until 19.40, and taking into account the emergency supply - up to 19.50. Such a sharp discrepancy can only be explained by one thing: the engines burned fuel for 2 hours more than previously thought!

Here it is, the missing link in the chain of clues! While only one hour passed on the ground, about three flew by in a white fog!!! The speed of the planes was normal all this time, but for a hypothetical outside observer, it would seem to be 3 times faster! Probably, during these 3 hours of their own time, the torpedo bombers, alas, slipped through the Florida ledge with their home base and ended up in the Gulf of Mexico. The pilots were still not completely out of the tenacious paws of a very thinned fog, when a ridge of islands appeared under the wings ...

You know the rest. Taylor, of course, was able to recognize the islands over which he flew dozens of times. But ... he did not believe their "miraculous" appearance and, at the insistence of the air base, again took a western course. (Now the "strange fog" has passed, and the flight took place in normal time.) He believed an hour later and turned back, but the inexperienced advice of the controllers, who said: "You are just flying up to Florida" - completely confused him ... Ultimately, the link was ruined by the lieutenant's uncertainty: he feverishly changed direction several times, following either to the northeast at a course of 30 degrees, then to the east (90), then, at the request of the dispatchers, to the west (270). Fuel shortage prompted to make the final choice. Taylor played toss, and... Death won. The bombers, once again almost reaching the saving mainland, made their last turn and left on a course of 270 degrees ... Away from land ...

Friends of the missing pilots still cannot understand why Lieutenant Taylor commanded, and his subordinates (among whom were more senior in rank) landed on rough seas, while they could search for land for another two hours! .. on high waves, there was practically no chance of escaping, and, nevertheless, Taylor's subordinates carry out this order without a doubt, although they had just cursed loudly and argued with their commander about the course. The only way the pilots could carry out a suicide landing was knowing that they were really running out of fuel. Presumably, at about 19:00, the lieutenant's plane was already at the bottom, radio operators recorded snippets of conversations between other crews, someone tried to call Taylor through the obvious noise of the waves and received no answer. Then the rest of the voices fell silent... On the ground, the hope for their return was still preserved, since no one could believe the fact of splashdown. Another hour passed, according to the calculations of the airfield personnel, the pilots were only now running out of emergency fuel, and they were waiting for a miracle ... Finally, 20 hours came, it became clear that the wait was in vain ... Bright lights on the runway, which could be seen beyond tens of miles, burned for some more time.

Finally, at 21:00, someone in the control room silently turned the switch... The pilots, of course, were still alive at that moment. Most likely, after the planes went to the bottom, they were in the water in their life jackets. But an overnight storm guaranteed to make the demolition work. A rich experience of maritime disasters suggests that most likely the pilots who were not found by anyone were able to withstand the cold waves until about midnight ...

At midnight, 2500 kilometers from this place in Mount Vernon, New York, Joan Powers and her eighteen-month-old daughter woke up at the same time, as if from a sudden blow. Joan immediately understood the reason for her nightmare and decided to do what she had never done before - call her husband at the airbase. It took about 2 hours to find out the phone number and connect. At exactly 2:00 a.m., the bell rang in Fort Lauderdale. The duty officer who answered the phone turned purple and stuttered: "Don't worry, but we can't call your husband, Captain Edward Powers, he's in flight right now..." The man who turned off the lights on the runway 5 hours ago , and did not dare to pronounce the verdict aloud. Joan found out the truth about her husband only in the morning from a radio news special...

Perhaps the same anomalous zone that knocked down Taylor, and Powers, and everyone else, did not miss the Marine Mariner, the twin-engine flying boat that disappeared without a trace, the same one that fearlessly went in search of the Avengers. The seaplane radio operator's last elephants were about "strong wind at an altitude of 1800 meters" ... Although the reason may be more prosaic, someone in the vicinity of this boat saw a bright flash in the sky. An explosion?.. Together with the crew of the flying boat, the number of victims of the "triangle" that evening amounted to 27 people...

When the hypothesis described above took on a more or less harmonious shape, it was decided to introduce her to one of the direct participants in those events. The already mentioned Don Poole, at that moment already an 82-year-old lieutenant colonel and retired, lived in Florida. Any answer was expected, but this ... "Everything described may be interesting, but according to you it turns out that the planes fell in the Gulf of Mexico, in fact, they were recently found in the Atlantic, just 10 miles from their home base Fort Lauderdale! Relatives of the victims say that it would be better if they had not found: it is bitter to know that the pilots died literally on the doorstep of the house, in one minute of flight! So the topic is closed. First they found 4 aircraft, then a fifth one was found - with the number 28. It was Taylor's number! Yes, they flew like that: "twenty-eighth" Taylor was ahead, followed by four wingmen ... "This is news! True, it is not at all clear why the 19th link fell into the water in that area, why in this case they were hard to hear on the radio, for 10 miles (18 km) they should have been heard from the next room ... Something there was not enough in the new solution to the mystery, it was necessary to find out additional details ...

In 1991, the Deep Sea search vessel of the Scientific Sich Project, northeast of Fort Lauderdale, was searching for a sunken Spanish gold galleon. The team on deck joked about the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle, someone cackled, remembering various stories, including those with the missing torpedo bombers. Therefore, when the message "Torpedo bombers are under us" came, everyone took it as a joke. These were 4 Avengers lying in formation at a depth of 250 meters, the fifth with the number 28 was a mile from the rest. The four, as it were, slightly lagged behind the leading "28th" aircraft (one involuntarily recalls the version that Taylor's last words were: "Don't get close, they look like ...").

The archives were immediately raised. It turned out that for all the time in the Atlantic Ocean 139 Avenger-type aircraft fell into the water, but a group of five aircraft went missing only once in December 45th. Skeptics also decided to check: could planes fall into the water from an aircraft carrier in this area? Similar records were not found in the archives either, but soon the need to search for them disappeared, more detailed photographing of the finds proved that the planes were actually landing on the water: their propeller blades were bent and the cockpit lights were open. No bodies were found in the cabins. No one else had any doubts that this was the missing 19th flight, especially since there were also letter images "FT" on two sides - this was how the aircraft based at the Fort Lauderdale base were designated. The US government, the Navy and the SSP firm immediately began a legal battle among themselves for ownership of the find, while the relatives of the victims demanded that the planes be left alone. The discoverer of the Avengers, Hawkes, in one of his last interviews, said: “We will sail closer in an underwater vehicle in order to read the numbers. I am sure that they are! We have solved the greatest mystery! But if it turns out that this is not the 19th link, then it means that we have created a new great mystery, because 5 planes cannot simply gather on the bottom of the ocean! .. "

But the mystery did not yield... A month later, in the summer of 1995, fresh material came to our request... numbers, and how ... disappointed: two numbers were clearly visible - FT-241, FT-87 and two only partially - 120 and 28. The missing link had numbers: FT-3, FT-28 (Taylor), FT -36, FT-81, FT-117. Only one number came together, and that one - without a letter designation. The numbers of the planes found at the bottom have not yet been identified, they are not listed among the missing. In most archival records, only the serial number of the aircraft appears, but since these numbers were recorded on the plywood keel of the Avenger, there is no hope that the number on the aircraft has been preserved for such a long time.

In short, the mysteries remain open. What planes lie at the bottom of the ocean near Fort Lauderdale, what or who made them come together? And where did the "those same" planes go? After the failure in the Atlantic, the captain of the Deep Sea ship categorically refused to go to the Gulf of Mexico in order to read the number of the Avenger found there earlier: "I didn't care about the planes," he said, "it would be better if we found a Spanish galleon!"

Do you think that a submarine immediately went to the crash site on the instructions of the government?! No, the government "suddenly" lost the power of speech, probably because it turned out that it would not receive money for the 19th link, but would only receive a new painful problem. It is necessary to explain with a smart expression what is almost impossible to explain, but oh, how you don’t want to spend finances on an investigation! In 1996, however, an explanation was found, the official commission found that: 1. At the bottom, not airplanes at all, but mock-ups of airplanes. 2. They were specially placed there in order to work out the bombing from the air.

Only the most gullible believed such official nonsense. The scuba divers must have laughed their heads off. Didn't any of the government bodies read their reports, where they described numbers, open lights, bent propeller blades during landing? None of this could be on mock-targets. If these are mock-ups, then those that themselves flew here "in formation". And the pilots probably laughed because making bombing targets at a depth of 250 meters is the same as aiming a pistol at a target located behind the Great Wall of China!

Thus ended this strange incident (from which, in fact, the official history of the "triangle" originates), during which all the pilots of the Avengers and the seaplane that flew to the rescue disappeared and so far have not been found ... However, The story itself will never end...

Here are other attempts to explain the bloodthirsty actions of the "triangle". Several dozen different explanations have been put forward:

A) The reason is in the minds of people:

A-1) "Just a fantasy." All cases are nothing more than newspaper ducks and fables of travel agency owners ... (This version can explain up to 50-70% of all incidents.)

A-2) "Just a coincidence." All cases are nothing more than coincidences and coincidences ... (This version can explain up to 70-80% of all incidents.)

B) The reason is underground and at the bottom:

B-3) "Underwater earthquakes" (based on the work of the Polish engineer E. Korkhov). Perhaps, as a result of catastrophic displacements of the ocean floor, waves up to 60 m high can arise, capable of instantly swallowing a vessel of any size without leaving any traces. During the drift of the continents for millions of years, colossal caverns formed in the earth's crust, and during an earthquake, the arch of such a cave can collapse. If the cave is under the ocean floor, then water will inevitably pour into it, a strong whirlpool will appear on the surface, which sucks in both water and air ... (This version can explain up to 20-40% of all incidents.)

B-4) "Atlantes". Remaining traces of the activities of the lost civilization of the Atlanteans (whose mainland "was somewhere nearby") ... (This version can explain a number of incidents.)

B-5) "Underwater civilizations". It differs from the version with the Atlanteans only in that the hypothetical underwater inhabitants live and thrive to this day. However, fantasize - so fantasize! Atlantes in the past could become modern underwater inhabitants. In addition, this hypothesis may have a direct connection with the version of aliens ... (This hypothesis can also explain a number of incidents.)

IN) The reason is in the water:

C-6) "Voice of the Sea" (based on the discovery of 1932 by the famous Soviet hydrologist V. A. Berezkin). This is one of the interesting and even a little romantic hypotheses. Its author, sailing on the Taimyr hydrographic vessel, noticed that if a pilot balloon is kept at a distance of 1-2 cm near the ear in the open sea during an approaching storm, then significant pain is felt in the ears. The study of this phenomenon was carried out by academician V.V. Shuleikin, it was he who gave him the name - "Voice of the Sea". The scientist spoke at the USSR Academy of Sciences with the theory of the occurrence of infrasonic oscillations in the ocean. During storms and strong winds above the sea surface, the flow breaks down on the crests of the waves; when the wind speed is greater than the speed of wave propagation, the air lingers at the crests, forming compression, and rarefaction above the wave soles. The resulting condensation and rarefaction of air propagate in the form of sound vibrations with a frequency of up to 10 Hz. In the air, not only transverse vibrations occur, but also longitudinal ones, the strength of the resulting infrasound is proportional to the square of the wavelength. At a wind speed of 20 m / s, the power of the "voice" can reach 3 W from each meter of the wave front. Under certain conditions, the storm generates infrasound with a power of tens of kW. Moreover, the main radiation of infrasound is approximately in the range of about 6 Hz - the most dangerous for humans. It should be added that the "voice", propagating at the speed of sound, is significantly ahead of the wind and sea waves, moreover, infrasound is very weakly scattered with distance. In principle, it can propagate without significant attenuation for hundreds and thousands of kilometers, both in air and in water, and the speed of the water wave is several times higher than the speed of the air wave. So - somewhere a storm is raging, and a thousand kilometers from this place the crew of some schooner goes crazy from 6-hertz radiation and rushes in horror into an absolutely calm sea. With fluctuations of the order of 6 hertz, a person experiences a feeling of anxiety, often turning into unaccountable horror; at 7 hertz, paralysis of the heart and nervous system is possible; with fluctuations an order of magnitude higher, the destruction of technical devices is possible. In the process of evolution in man, apparently, a center was formed that is sensitive to infrasonic vibrations, the precursors of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. A complex of reactions that should manifest itself when this center is affected: avoid closed spaces in order not to fall into the blockage; strive to move away from nearby objects that threaten to collapse; run "where your eyes look" in order to get out of the disaster area. And now you can observe a similar reaction in many animals. At the same time, when directly exposed to the body, non-specific reactions occur, such as lethargy, weakness and various disorders, as well as, for example, when irradiated with X-rays, high-frequency radio waves. Man has lost his high sensitivity to infrasonic vibrations, but at high intensity, the ancient protective reaction awakens, blocking the possibilities of conscious behavior. It should be emphasized that fear will not be caused by external images, but will, as it were, "come from within." The person will have a sensation, a feeling of "something terrible." Depending on the intensity of the infrasonic vibrations, people on the ship will experience varying degrees of panic and inadequate actions (here it is appropriate to recall Homer's Odyssey). This hypothesis, in principle, sheds light on the disappearance of sailors, putting forward as a reason, for example, mass suicide. (This version can explain up to 30-50% of all incidents.)

B-7) "Underwater ultrasound" (it differs from the previous version in that the source or, more correctly, the concentrator of the terrible sound is not on the surface, but at the bottom). The storm occurring in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the elephants of the Ukrainian researcher V. Shulga, allegedly generates infrasonic waves, which, reflected from the bottom pits ("reflectors"), are focused in certain areas. The colossal dimensions of the focusing structure suggest the presence of regions where infrasonic vibrations can reach a significant value, which is the reason for the anomalous phenomena occurring here. Infrasound can cause resonant vibrations of ship masts, leading to their breakage (the effect of infrasound on aircraft structural elements can lead to similar consequences). Infrasound can be the cause of the appearance of a rapidly emerging and just as quickly disappearing thick ("like milk") fog over the ocean. Atmospheric moisture condensed during the rarefaction phase may not have time to dissolve in the air during the subsequent compression phase, but at the same time it can “instantly” disappear during several periods of the absence of infrasonic oscillations. (And this version can also explain up to 30-50% of all incidents.)

B-8) "Countercurrents" (proposed by N. Fomin). It is based on the assumption that under the influence of the northerly wind and oncoming waves in the depths of the ocean, waterfalls several kilometers high and powerful downward currents are born. (This version can explain up to 20-30% of all incidents.)

B-9) "Hydrodynamic effect" (proposed by G. Zelkin, Candidate of Technical Sciences). Saturated with gas released from the bottom soil (this is a product of tectonic activity), the mass of the hearth breaks away from the bottom and moves to the surface; in this case, an electromagnetic field is induced. Having reached the surface, the gas-liquid volume can rise to a height of several hundred meters. Any ship or aircraft that finds itself in the ejection zone will fall into the abyss; the crew, once in a gas cloud, will surely die. (This version can explain up to 40-50% of all incidents.)

B-10) "Hydrate bottom" is a practically similar version, differing only in the process of release and accumulation of bottom gas. (This version can explain up to 50-60% of all incidents.)

B-11) "Methane Emissions" (promoted by Alan JAD, a marine geologist at the University of Sunderland). Perhaps the methane flowing from the bottom is to blame. This assumption, in his opinion, explains the mystery of the disappearance of ships and aircraft without a trace. During the explosion, a large amount of methane is in the sea water and the density of the water decreases so many times that not only ships go to the bottom in a matter of seconds, but people who have thrown themselves from the ship in life jackets go to the bottom like a stone. And when methane reaches the surface of the water, it rises into the air and poses a danger to aircraft flying in this place ... (This version can explain up to 10-20% of all accidents.)

B-12) "Animal attack". Attacks by giant squids and underwater animals are a reality, but ... not as obvious as it is presented by horror films ... (This version can explain a number of incidents.)

B-13) "Attack of monsters". But nothing can be reliably said about the behavior of fantastic and legendary (such as extinct plesiosaurs) underwater animals ... (But this version can also explain a number of incidents.)

D) The reason is in the air:

D-14) "Reduced Cohesion" (promoted in 1950 by Canadian Wilbur B. Smith, who led government research on magnetism and gravity in the Bermuda Triangle). It was announced the detection of zones in the atmosphere with "reduced cohesion". These areas have a diameter, according to Smith, up to 300 m. They tend to rise to great heights and move slowly, disappearing and reappearing elsewhere. The influence of such a zone on the human nervous system is also not excluded. An aircraft caught in a zone of "low friction" can easily be destroyed. (This version can explain up to 30-40% of all incidents.)

G-15) "Atmospheric explosion". It is believed that with a complex combination of gravitational, electromagnetic, seismic and acoustic anomalies, the usual picture of the existence of the air environment is distorted; under these conditions, a downdraft can suddenly form, with a speed of up to several hundred meters per second and can lead to the death of any ship or aircraft. (This version can explain up to 30-50% of all incidents.)

G-16) "Reverse tornado" (proposed by A. Pozdnyakov). It is based on reports of giant whirlpools observed in the Bermuda Triangle with a diameter of 150-200 km, a depth of 500 meters, with a rotation speed of up to 0.5 m per second. It is assumed that as a result of the specific distribution of flows in the atmosphere, a so-called "anti-tornado" may arise, in which the air flow rushes not from top to bottom, but from bottom to top. At the same time, a whirlpool appears on the surface of the ocean. According to Pozdnyakov, strong electromagnetic fields arise around the "anti-tornado", which distort the operation of instruments and compasses. (This version can explain up to 10-30% of all incidents.)

G-17) "Natural laser" (pushed by K. Anikin). The scientist believes that under certain conditions the Sun can be considered as a source of pumping, the smooth surface of the ocean and the upper layers of the atmosphere - as reflectors of light waves, and moving air currents - as an active medium. Thus, elements of a laser device are allegedly created. The action of such a laser can theoretically lead not only to damage, but also to the evaporation of ships and aircraft. (This version can explain up to 20-40% of all incidents.)

D) The reason is in the physical fields:

D-18) "Magnetic anomalies" (proposed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences A. Elkin). It is assumed that the magnetic anomaly periodically occurring here leads to a disruption in the normal operation of instruments, primarily the compass, resulting in a loss of orientation and a significant deviation from the course. Perhaps the remains of the disappeared ships and planes are not found because the search work is being carried out far away. Statistical data show that ships and planes mostly disappear at the moments of full moons and during periods of the greatest value of precessional forces; and the magnetic anomaly arises as a result of the movement of ionized magma in the bowels of the earth, caused in turn by lunisolar tides ... (This version can explain up to 30-50% of all incidents.)

D-19) "Ocean Electric Current" (nominated by E. Alftan, Candidate of Technical Sciences). Increased electrical conductivity is proposed to be the cause of the anomalies in the Bermuda Triangle. This version is supported by sharp changes in depths at the bottom of the ocean, the structure of the bottom and the "thinned" earth's crust in the Puerto Rican Trench. It is assumed that the magnetic anomaly "in combination with the natural electric field that permeates the oceans, generates the movement of large masses of water. The death of people is explained by the impact on the human body of fluctuations in electric and magnetic fields, which are caused by sharp shifts of rocks that overlap or narrow the conductive sections of the ocean floor.

D-20) "Electric Discharge Energy" (proposed by an employee of the Moscow Region TsNIIMash Alexander Petrovich NEVSKY). In his works, he considered the mechanism of formation of an electric charge on cosmic bodies moving in the Earth's atmosphere and made specific calculations of the magnitude of the potential on such a body relative to the surface of the planet. He argues that at high cosmic velocities for bodies of large sizes, the potentials reach such enormous values that there is a real possibility of breakdown of a many-kilometer gap between the moving body and the earth's surface, and the main part of the energy of the meteorite (due to the physical features of the process) is converted into the energy of an electric discharge explosion (ERV). ). In the Bermuda Triangle, in his opinion, "electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from such a discharge disabled all devices (moreover, it could even hit the electrical power networks of aircraft). After exposure to EMR, a shock wave reached the group of aircraft in a few tens of seconds from the ERV that destroyed them"... A. Nevsky did not explain why the planes flew for several hours after the "destructive blow"; even more difficult, according to his theory, is the situation with ships (their design is incomparably more durable). But, says Nevsky, since the ship is a kind of "point" on the surface of the sea, it is natural that under certain conditions "it is a voltage concentrator, leading to a predominant breakdown precisely on it. If a strong discharge strikes the ship, then practically the ship will destroyed"... (This version can explain up to 10-20% of all incidents.)

E-21) "Gravity anomaly" (based on the lowering of the ocean level recorded by American astronauts in the central part of the Bermuda Triangle by 25 m relative to the general level of the World Ocean). It is assumed that gravitational perturbations are not constant, and under certain conditions can lead to instantaneous catastrophic drops in the water level, followed by an equally rapid return to the original state. Thus, a gigantic whirlpool appears, capable of absorbing any ship, and a temporary distortion of the air environment over this area ("air pocket"), leading to the death of aircraft. (This version can explain up to 30-50% of all incidents.)

E) The reason is in space:

E-22) Alien abductions. The direct intervention of aliens in all known cases of ship abductions is, of course, possible, but it is absolutely fantastic ... (A number of incidents can be explained by this version.)

E-23) "Alien interference". But a number of ufologists believe that signal equipment may be installed on the seabed, powered by a powerful source of energy, which serves as a beacon for UFOs. It is this equipment that periodically disrupts the operation of navigation devices and has a direct or indirect detrimental effect on the human body. (This version can explain a number of incidents.)

E-24) "Time trap". It is assumed that a space-time trap has been created in the Bermuda Triangle, in which time flows at a different speed. A ship or plane, entering such an area, ceases to exist in our world and is transferred to the Future, Past, or to the Paraworld [more about this theory - Chernobrov V. "Secrets of Time", M., AST-Olympus, 1999; Chernobrov V. "Secrets and paradoxes of Time", M., Armada, 2001]. So, they say that in 1993, a fishing boat with 3 fishermen, who were considered dead, allegedly disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle; the fishermen showed up a year later and said that during a storm, when their damaged ship began to sink, they were rescued by a ship whose crew was dressed in ancient clothes and spoke Old English. For the fishermen themselves, the incident took a few days. There are many similar (fictitious and non-fictional) stories in which sailing ships, submarines and aircraft that have fallen from the past appear ... (This version can explain up to 40-60% of all incidents.)

E-25) "Black Hole". Such a local gravitational anomaly that sucks in ships (but where is it "based"? and why does it not always "work"?),. (This version can explain up to 20-40% of all incidents.)

E-26) "Non-existent universe" (proposed in 2000 by contactee Leonid RUSAK). According to him, “because of the emerging magnetic disturbances in this area, military aircraft moved into the time interval of the formation of the Non-existent Universe, where continents, seas and islands have in many ways different outlines. The transition of the Avenger crews was complete: the pilots saw not water of the Arcturian world, but a foggy Substance consisting of single atoms of silicon, always present in water and not disappearing in Other Being... But when the planes, falling through the whitish fog of silicon, landed on the firmament, it turned out to be the earth that exists in the interval of the Non-existent Universe But later, as soon as they were under a layer of silicon, they did not begin to be affected by magnetic disturbances and began to move into the time interval of the Arcturian world of Real.It was then that the water of our Arcturian world filled the volume occupied by the "whitish fog" with a dense mass, accelerating the denouement of the tragedy. .." (This version can explain a number of incidents.)

But it is rather difficult to test any of the hypotheses put forward (including the terrible "Voice"); Let us recall that real, recorded cases of ship disappearances are hardly more than 10-15% of what was reported in sensational newspaper publications, and information about these truly inexplicable disappearances is extremely scarce (by definition).

One thing is indisputable and irrefutable - the Bermuda Triangle remains the greatest fear, the greatest miracle, the greatest deceit and the greatest hope for a solution in the history of the study of anomalous zones in the world. The fear of Bermuda is almost entirely invented by the man himself, it has not yet become easier for past and (possibly) future victims ...

Driving to the Bermuda Triangle:

getting here is both easy and difficult. Simply because the conditional borders of the triangle "come close to the resorts of Florida and Cuba (it is enough to take a ticket and soak up the beaches with the warm water of the Bermuda Triangle" caressing your body). It is difficult because it is not known where exactly, at what point in this region of the Atlantic , you have to get in to become a witness or participant in events that add to the terrible statistics.Maybe, and - fortunately for most.
