Alexander Vasiliev about his parents:

Today, the name of Alexander Vasilyev is known far beyond the fashion world, since he is rightfully considered a fairly public person. He gives lectures at universities, broadcasts on the first channel, conducts speeches to the audience with stories about the most relevant wardrobe items.

As they say, a talented person is talented in everything! Despite all his openness, he strictly keeps the secrets of his personal life, without revealing any secrets and details. Of course, such mystery only kindles the curiosity of the fair sex, who show an increased interest in this ambiguous personality.

Alexander Vasiliev was born in Moscow into an intelligent theatrical family: his mother is an actress, and his father is a people's artist. So from childhood, the future luminary of Russian culture grew in an atmosphere of art and creativity. This is how the fashion historian himself recalls his childhood: “I am the son of a famous artist and actress, my grandfathers, great-grandfathers were educated and cultured people. I grew up among books, theatrical performances, painting - it educates, lays the core of future knowledge that you can get.

Alexander's childhood passed in the atmosphere of the theater, which immediately fascinated him: in the form of entertainment, the boy sewed costumes for dolls, and then the scenery in which he staged performances, according to his recollections, starting from the age of 12. Which naturally led to the fact that after school, Alexander entered the production department of the Moscow Art Theater School, and after graduation he began working as a costume designer in the theater on Malaya Bronnaya.

Everything seemed to come naturally. However, the subtle and vulnerable soul of the boy wanted more and better. As Alexander later said, while still a schoolboy, he promised himself that if there was no revolution in Russia in the 1980s, he would definitely leave the country. He kept his word and moved to Paris in the 1980s, marrying a French woman.

Few people know, but at first the young fashion designer had a hard time in the capital of fashion. The husband's wife refused to support, and he did not want to get a job as a teacher of the Russian language. Therefore, he soon fell into wild poverty: the future star had to sing Russian songs on the streets in order to somehow feed himself. Even the chair, in order to have something to sit on, had to be dug up in a landfill. Soon, however, life began to improve: Vasiliev began to receive orders for decorating various French theaters. In addition, he continued to actively educate himself: he graduated from the interior design department of large palaces at the Louvre School, and also constantly read books about fashion.

In 1994, Vasiliev drew up his lecture program, which received the approval of specialists. And life gained certainty: having translated his lectures into four languages, Alexander Vasilyev began to speak with them at universities and colleges in all corners of the world, which he still does with success.

At the same time, having gained success as a designer with a delicate taste, the Russian fashion guru became in demand as a decorator in various French theaters and festivals, such as Rond Pointe on the Champs-Elysées, Bastille Opera Studio, Luserner, Cartoucheri, Avignon Festival, Bale du Nord, Young Ballet of France and the Royal Opera of Versailles.

Well, in the 2000s, with all this professional baggage, the fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev already returned to his homeland and settled authoritatively here.

In 2000, he opened the Volga Seasons of Alexander Vasilyev festival in Samara.

In 2002, he began working as a presenter on the Culture channel; in 2003, he opened the Alexander Vasiliev Interiors design studio in Moscow, and in 2005 he opened a visiting fashion school, within which he began to take his students to the cultural capitals of the world. In addition, during these years, Alexander Vasiliev collaborated as a decorator with several Russian theaters, and also became famous as a collector - he is the owner of the world's largest collection of costumes from the Russian period.

The year 2009 can be considered a turning point in the fate of Alexander Vasiliev. This year he was invited to work as the host of the Fashion Sentence program on Channel One. And if until that time Vasiliev could be called popular in narrow circles, now he has gained nationwide popularity. So to speak, it brings culture and beauty to the masses. True, in the performance of Alexander, they - culture and beauty - do not always turn out to be kind: poor middle-aged Russian women who are lucky enough to become the heroines of the program, Alexander often does not hesitate, like schoolgirls, to teach, chastise and even humiliate. But what can you do: the show is like this - it imposes its own conditions and rules.

But, of course, it gives privileges: since 2013, Alexander Vasiliev has been the head of the Moscow Academy of Fashion at the Moscow Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting Ostankino.

As for the personal life of a TV star, he prefers to hide it from prying eyes, stating, however, that there are several beautiful women in his life, since polygamy is inherent in the nature of a man.
