Childhood

The family of the future singer was very simple. My father worked at a factory, my mother worked in a store - first as a simple saleswoman, then became a director. The girl inherited her musical talent from her grandmother, who had a wonderful voice and sang in the church choir.

Lyme (left) as a child

The family was big. Laima also had a sister, and two children from her father's first marriage lived with them. In 1957, they decide to move to Riga - it was easier to earn a living there, which is rarely simple in a large family. There Lyme went to school.

The girl began to sing from early childhood. At first, her grandmother taught her to sing, she also gave her granddaughter a voice and convinced her that the girl was very talented. But for the first time, Lyme appeared on the big stage only at the age of 12. She became a participant in the competition for young singers at the famous Riga VEF factory and there she received her first award for her performance.

Since then, she has become a regular participant in various concerts and city events. But then she did not even think about an artistic career. After basic training, Lyme entered a medical school, but continued to perform actively there.

Carier start

As a teenager, the girl began to learn professional singing, while simultaneously working part-time at the Riga Philharmonic. Her teacher was a famous singer and composer, talented teacher Leonid Zakhodnik. He was closely acquainted with and often worked with the head of the Riga Radio and Television Orchestra, Raimonds Pauls.

Having seen the extraordinary talent of the girl, Zakhodnik arranged an audition for her with Pauls, and he without hesitation made her the soloist of his famous band. At that time, Lyme was only 15 years old. She worked with the Pauls Orchestra for a long 10 years. It was thanks to him that she fully revealed herself as an artist and singer. Until now, they have a very close touching relationship.

After that, Laima moved to the resort town of Jurmala on the Baltic Sea and went to work in the famous variety show. At first she sang in the choir, but very quickly became the leading performer. People from all over the Baltics specially came to listen to her amazing voice.

At the top of the glory

Realizing that music had become not only her profession, but a part of life, Laima approached this issue professionally and entered the directing department at GITIS. In parallel, she organized her own vocal group "Laima", which mainly performed Latvian songs in modern arrangements.

Laima Vaikule first appeared on the screen of Soviet television in the mid-80s. In Jurmala, she met the famous performer Ilya Reznik. Fascinated by the talent of the singer, he invited her to perform his song "Night Bonfire", which received a diploma at the most prestigious song festival in the country "Song-86".

This was followed by the presentation of the song "Vernissage", performed by Laima along with another pop legend. It was she who made the singer popularly loved, and the composition for a long time was one of the most popular in the USSR. And her success was consolidated by the new hit "It's Not Evening Yet", which became the hallmark of the singer.

A year later, the singer gave her first solo concert at the most prestigious venue in Moscow at the Rossiya State Concert Hall. It was a completely new level of the program, which no one had done before. The singer performed in a variety of images - lyrical, comic, grotesque, elegant. She was the director of the show. Tickets for it could not be obtained already several months before the appointed date.

Vaikule today

Few people know that it was she who was one of the initiators of the organization of the song festival of young performers in Jurmala. From the very first year, she has been a permanent member of the jury and the right hand of the main manager of the festival, Raimonds Pauls. In addition, she is very friendly with the popular showman and often becomes a jury member of the Voting KIVIN.

Vaikule's talent is well known and appreciated not only in the near, but also in far abroad countries. She has 10 Russian-language and several English-language albums to her credit. She frequently tours in Europe and the USA. In 1979, Lyme made her film debut, and since then she has continued to appear periodically.

Laima Vaikule is a staunch vegetarian. She actively fights for the rights of animals, takes part in various charity events aimed at protecting them. For ethical reasons, the singer does not wear fur and does not buy products made from genuine leather. She is categorically against bullfighting, hunting and other cruel entertainment that harms animals.

Personal life

Almost all her life next to the singer is the same man - the former guitarist of her band, and later - the producer of Laima Andrey Latkovsky. They met back in 1970, but a serious relationship began a little later. But only in 1978 they began to live together.

With Andrey Latkovsky

About a year later, a modest wedding took place - the couple registered their marriage in Las Vegas. The spouses have no children. Therefore, they both devote themselves entirely to creativity. The husband is a sincere like-minded person and faithful assistant to his wife. Their marriage has become an example of loyalty and understanding for many.

Laima Stanislavovna Vaikule is a famous Latvian singer and actress. Prefers to sing pop songs.

Childhood

The famous singer Laima Vaikule was born (date of birth - March 31, 1954) in the territory of Latvia, in the city of Cesis. When little Laima was three years old, a family council decided to move to Riga. The girl's family was complete, and besides her, her parents raised three more children. They lived poorly in a rented one-room apartment, as their parents were simple workers. Lyme differed from all children in her wayward rebellious character. She liked to drive in the yard with the boys more than to play with her sisters. But mischief did not interfere with her talent. She sang from a very young age: in kindergarten during quiet hours, at family reunions in front of guests.

When Lyme went to school, the teacher strongly recommended that the girl be sent to a music school and get her an instrument. But the family of the future singer was absolutely not musical and considered this idea a failure, and the bulky piano simply would not fit in their modest home. Parents prophesied a medical future for Lyme, and Lyme herself supported their decision. By the way, the school program was easy for the girl.

But at the age of 12, the life of Laima Vaikule (you already know the date of birth) turned upside down. The schoolgirl was lucky enough to take part in the competition of young singers. The talent was highly acclaimed and Lyme received her first performance award. After that, she began to take part in many competitions and creative events.

Creativity: the beginning of a career

After finishing 8 classes, Laima Vaikule, as planned, entered the local medical school. But the love of music and vocal abilities did not fade into the background.

At the age of 15, the girl began to study music professionally. Her vocal teacher was a talented singer and composer Leonid Zakhodnik. He was on friendly terms with Raimonds Pauls, who at that time directed the Radio and Television Orchestra in Riga. Zakhodnik greatly appreciated Vaikule's talent and therefore decided to help her reach her potential. He arranged an audition for her with Pauls. The girl was accepted into the orchestra without hesitation.

Since 1979, Vaikule began performing in a popular variety show. She not only performed with musical numbers, but also organized dance performances, and even created the scenery herself. By the way, Vaikule worked with Raymond Pauls for 10 years, and it was he who helped her to reveal all her talents to the fullest.

Creativity: takeoff

In 1984, Laima Vaikule entered GITIS at the acting department in order to gain professionalism. With medicine at that moment, the singer's paths finally diverged. In 1985, on New Year's Eve, Vaikule made a television debut.

Soon the singer moved to live in Jurmala, where fate brought her together with the songwriter Ilya Reznik. Fascinated by Laima's extraordinary voice, Reznik invites her to perform one of her songs. This was followed by a duet with Valery Leontiev "Vernissage". And the hit "It's not evening yet" consolidated the success. During this period, Laima Vaikule turned from a simply talented girl into a popular elegant performer. The famous singer Laima Vaikule, whose personal life began to interest a large army of fans, gave herself completely to the stage in order to reach the desired heights. When Lyme was 33 years old, she was already known throughout the Union. She was invited to all musical events, creative evenings, concerts.

In 1989, the already well-known Lyme was invited to the United States, where she worked for seven months, after which she was offered a job in Japan.

Creativity: well-deserved long-term fame

In the mid-90s, there was not a single person who would not have heard of the extravagant, charming and insanely talented singer Laima Vaikula. She is popular to this day due to her inimitable image. In 2014, she was one of the initiators of the creation of the New Wave competition for young talents. In 2015, Vaikule organized its own International Festival “Laima Vaikule. Jurmala. Rendezvous." In 2016, she sang a duet with a young performer Stas Piekha (“I close my eyes”).

Another step in the career of the famous singer was her 10 albums. But the training at the faculty of acting was not in vain. Laima Vaikule has more than a dozen film roles.

Disease

At the height of her career, the young singer faced serious health problems. The doctors discovered she had breast cancer. The treatment took place in the USA. The disease forced Vaikule to stop the rapid course of his life and think, reconsider his principles. Fortunately, the disease was overcome.

Laima Vaikule: personal life

It is not known whether the singer could build such an amazing career if she did not have such a reliable rear as her husband next to her. Andrei Latkovsky is her only companion. He was next to the singer both in grief and in joy. How old is Laima Vaikule's husband? He is seven years older than his wife and in 2017 celebrated his 70th birthday. But next to such a gorgeous woman as Lyme, he has to look like her. The husband of Laima Vaikule is handsome, stately. His height is about 180 cm, he is fit, looks much younger than his years.

Perhaps such long-term harmony in relationships can be achieved due to the fact that the singer practically does not let anyone into her family and does not like to put her personal life on public display.

They met back in 1970, when Lyme was still an unknown girl. The future husband of Laima Vaikule at that time was a guitarist in one of the groups. It was not a fleeting passion, their relationship proceeded rather slowly. After a short communication, life separated them for a while. But when they met again in Leningrad, the working relationship grew into a common sympathy. Since 1978, the young couple began to live together. Since that moment, the couple has not been separated. For all the years they lived together, Lyme and Andrey became not only spouses, but friends and partners. He used to be her producer.

The freedom-loving character of Laima, of course, cannot be hidden in family life, but Andrei is sympathetic to his beloved woman. Even despite the fact that she is not the best hostess. Laima admitted in her interviews more than once: she doesn’t fry cutlets and doesn’t cook borscht. But Laima Vaikule's husband accepts her for who she is, and she, in turn, appreciates it very much and is afraid of losing him. Lyme does not like to pronounce words of love out loud, arguing that loving hearts already feel everything.

A few years ago, Andrei offered to marry Laima. The ceremony took place in Las Vegas.

Laima Vaikule: family, children

In her youth, the girl dreamed of a big family, the same as she grew up in, but these dreams were not destined to come true. Laima Vaikule's family is her loving husband. Despite a strong alliance with him for 40 years, Vaikule has no children. For a creative, ambitious girl, pregnancy at the very beginning of her career was like a bolt from the blue, because the children did not fit in at all in the coming years. Therefore, Vaikule chose to have an abortion. When the career reached its peak, Andrey Latkovsky himself dissuaded Laima Vaikule from the birth of a child. Since she always agreed with her husband and considered his opinion, therefore, she listened to him.

Unfortunately, all subsequent attempts to have a child with the couple were unsuccessful. Many years later, looking back on her bitter experience, the singer urges women not to have abortions and give birth regardless of the circumstances.

The couple gives all their unspent love to young talented performers. Organizes competitions for them and gives them a chance to find themselves.

When asked about children, Vaikule often replies that her children are her dogs. She simply adores animals and is an ardent defender of their rights. Plus, she is a vegetarian.
