For the seventeenth time, Bosco di Ciliegi is holding one of the most anticipated events of the year - the Cherry Forest Open Art Festival. Every year, Mikhail Kusnirovich and his team present the best and most interesting from the world of art, and this year is no exception.
One of its main events will be the exhibition “Giorgio de Chirico. Metaphysical insights”, with which the “Cherry Forest” will begin on April 20. In addition to painting, it will feature theatrical costumes for the Diaghilev ballet, sculptures, archival materials and photographs created by the surrealist. “This exhibition, which we have been preparing for a year and a half, is de Chirico's first exhibition in Russia. Before that, there was a project in 1929, where only three works of the artist were shown. One of the works was bought and kept in the Pushkin Museum im. A. S. Pushkin, who now kindly provided us with this work,” said Zelfira Tregulova, general director of the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Inveterate theatergoers will be able to enjoy the premiere of the play "Circus" by Maxim Didenko with Ingeborga Dapkunaite in the title role, a musical production of A. Afanasyev's fairy tale in the Concert Hall. P.I. Tchaikovsky or the play "Cherry Poetry", the scenes of which are built on poems about childhood memories. Art lovers will appreciate the work of Katya Medvedeva, a self-taught artist and representative of naive art.
By tradition, the festival will end with the planting of cherry trees, this time on the territory of Luzhniki. Every year, stars with their families take part in this event, which symbolizes the restoration of the lost Chekhov's "Cherry Orchard" and the continuity of cultural tradition.

"Cherry Forest" - open art festival Bosco di Ciliegi. Since 2001, every spring it has given a large program of theatrical and musical events, exhibitions, publishing and art projects. From "Cherry Orchard" to "Cherry Forest" - this is the hidden metaphor of the festival.
The 18th Cherry Forest festival is diverse (however, as always): theatre, music, literature, cinema. Performances, concerts and exhibitions will be held at well-known and new venues. An important event will take place in the new Zaryadye Park: the first big symphony concert featuring Denis Matsuev. The Oleg Yankovsky Prize will also be presented there.
THEATER
« Rain" / "Rain"
The Russian premiere of Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker, a Belgian dancer and choreographer, to music by Steve Reich, performed by the contemporary music ensemble Ictus. The ballet "Rain" is based on all the techniques of modern Keersmaeker theater: mathematical structures, geometric use of space, the art of constant variation. For 70 minutes, ten dancers are in a continuous flow of movement.
« The Encounter" / "Meeting"
Solo performance by the outstanding British actor and director Simon McBurney for London's Complicité Theatre. The screening was organized jointly with the Golden Mask festival. The performance is based on a book about a journey through the Amazon and tells about the meeting of man with nature, but in fact with himself. According to McBurney, "The Encounter" is a kind of "brain walk".
"Kashtanka"
Directorial debut of Yulia Peresild at the Pskov Academic Drama Theater. Pushkin. But this is not quite a Chekhov story. The story of the dog Kashtanka simply inspired the director to tell the story of a yard girl who discovered her talent for writing songs and became a rock star. "Gulliver's travels"
World premiere of the ballet by composer Alexei Larin, staged by Georgy Isahakyan. "Do you know, mother, where I was?"
Premiere of an animated documentary film about Rezo Gabriadze, Georgian artist and director, creator of the Tbilisi Puppet Theatre. The film was directed by his son Leo and produced by Timur Bekmambetov.
For almost a quarter of a century, the son of the legendary Rezo watched his father, and for seven years he collected his impressions and materials in this unique tape, where documentary footage is intertwined with drawings. The author of the drawings and the script is Rezo Gabriadze himself, and the music was written by Gia Kancheli, co-author of Gabriadze, screenwriter on the films "Mimino", "Kin-dza-dza".
LITERATURE AND ART
On March 28, ITAR-TASS will host a presentation of the book "Life in Ballet", written by the brother of the outstanding ballerina Maya Plisetskaya - Azari Plisetsky. The book is about their family.
From April 26 to September 5 at the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin with the support of the festival "Cherry Forest" will present the exhibition " Sculptors andlivere d’ artiste., where the graphics of famous sculptors in the editions of livre d’artiste (“artist’s books”) and their plastic works will be combined. Graphics in the books of the artist Auguste Rodin, Aristide Mayol, Alberto Giacometti, Henry Moore, and many others from the collection of Georgy Gens and Boris Fridman will be shown in Russia for the first time. On May 17, Petrovsky Passage will host an immersive exhibition ETRO. 50 to the 50th anniversary of the Italian brand Etro. For two weeks, the total installation will occupy the spaces of the Petrovsky Passage.
MUSIC
On May 22, the musical part of the festival will open with a concert by Denis Matsuev with the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia. Osipov in Zaryadye Park. Last Sunday the participants XVII Open Arts Festival "Cherry Forest" — famous artists, sportsmen and officials planted a cherry orchard in "Luzhniki" and presented the annual Oleg Yankovsky Prize "Creative Discovery". The leading actress Theater on Malaya Bronnaya Yulia Peresild had a busy day, she ran to the ceremony immediately from a charity run "Running Hearts". The actress managed to plant a tree, speak to the guests of the festival and receive the Yankovsky Prize, which, according to her, she did not expect at all. The “boss” himself, Mikhail Kusnirovich, at the opening of the event acted as a conductor, but not an orchestra, but a stadium "Luzhniki".
