WHY FADEYEV POSTED THE READERS

And the director Gerasimov also took pity on the audience - the film does not show all the torture that the guys suffered. They were almost children, the youngest was barely 16. It is terrible to read these lines.

It is terrible to think about the inhuman suffering they endured. But we must know and remember what fascism is. The worst thing is that among those who mockingly killed the Young Guards, there were mainly policemen from the local population (the city of Krasnodon, where the tragedy occurred, is located in the Luhansk region). It is all the more terrible now to watch Nazism revived in Ukraine, for torchlight processions, for the slogans “Bandera is a hero!”.

There is no doubt that today's twenty-year-old neo-fascists, the same age as their brutally tortured countrymen, have not read this book and have not seen these photographs.

“She was beaten, hung up by braids. Anya was lifted from the pit with one scythe - the other broke off.

Crimea, Feodosia, August 1940. Happy young girls. The most beautiful, with dark braids - Anya Sopova.
On January 31, 1943, after severe torture, Anya was thrown into the pit of mine No. 5.
She was buried in the mass grave of heroes in the central square of the city of Krasnodon.

The Soviet people dreamed of being like the brave Krasnodon people... They swore to avenge their deaths.
What can I say, the tragic and beautiful story of the Young Guards shocked the whole world at that time, and not just the immature children's minds.
The film became the leader of the box office in 1948, and the leading actors, unknown students of VGIK, immediately received the title of Laureates of the Stalin Prize - an exceptional case. “Woke up famous” is about them.
Ivanov, Mordyukova, Makarova, Gurzo, Shagalova - letters from all over the world came to them in bags.
Gerasimov, of course, took pity on the audience. Fadeev - readers.
What really happened that winter in Krasnodon, neither paper nor film could convey.

There is an amazing site. http://www.molodguard.ru/, where caring people collected miraculously preserved unique photographs and documents.

Come in, take a look. Read.

On January 31, Sergei was tortured for the last time, and then, half-dead, he, along with other comrades, was taken to the pit of mine No. 5 ... "

No traces of bullets were found on Victor's body, which means they threw him alive ... "

Oleg Koshevoy, 16 years old

When arrests began in January 1943, he made an attempt to cross the front line. However, he is forced to return to the city. Shevtsova, S.M. Ostapenko, D.U. Ogurtsov and V.F. Subbotin, on February 9, 1943, he was shot in the Thundering Forest near the city.

Evgeny Moshkov, 22 years old (pictured left)

“... Communist Youth Guard Yevgeny Moshkov, having chosen a good moment during interrogation, hit a policeman. Then the fascist beasts hung Moshkov by his legs and kept him in that position until blood gushed from his nose and throat. He was taken down and interrogated again. But Moshkov only spat in the face of the executioner. The enraged investigator who tortured Moshkov hit him with a full blow. Exhausted by torture, the communist hero fell, hitting the back of his head on the door frame and died.

Volodya Osmukhin, 18 years old
“When I saw Vovochka, mutilated, almost completely without a head, without his left arm to the elbow, I thought that I would go crazy. I didn't believe it was him. He was in one sock, and the other leg was completely bare. Instead of a belt, a warm scarf is worn. No outerwear. They took the animals hungry. Head is broken. The back of the head fell out completely, only the face remained, on which only Volodya's teeth remained. Everything else is ruined. The lips are distorted, the nose is almost completely absent. My grandmother and I washed Vovochka, dressed her, decorated her with flowers. A wreath was nailed to the coffin. Let the road rest in peace."

Books enlighten the soul, uplift and strengthen a person, awaken the best aspirations in him, sharpen his mind and soften his heart.

William Thackeray, English satirist

The book is a great power.

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Soviet revolutionary

Without books, we now can neither live, nor fight, nor suffer, nor rejoice and win, nor confidently move towards that reasonable and wonderful future in which we unshakably believe.

Many thousands of years ago, in the hands of the best representatives of mankind, the book became one of the main weapons of their struggle for truth and justice, and it was this weapon that gave these people terrible strength.

Nikolai Rubakin, Russian bibliologist, bibliographer.

The book is a tool. But not only. It introduces people to the life and struggle of other people, makes it possible to understand their experiences, their thoughts, their aspirations; it makes it possible to compare, understand the environment and transform it.

Stanislav Strumilin, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences

There is no better remedy for refreshing the mind than reading the ancient classics; as soon as you take one of them in your hands, even if for half an hour, you immediately feel refreshed, lightened and cleansed, uplifted and strengthened, as if refreshed by bathing in a pure spring.

Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher

Those who were not familiar with the creations of the ancients lived without knowing beauty.

Georg Hegel, German philosopher

No failures of history and deaf spaces of time are able to destroy human thought, fixed in hundreds, thousands and millions of manuscripts and books.

Konstantin Paustovsky, Russian Soviet writer

The book is magical. The book changed the world. It contains the memory of the human race, it is the mouthpiece of human thought. A world without a book is a world of savages.

Nikolai Morozov, creator of modern scientific chronology

Books are the spiritual testament of one generation to another, the advice of a dying old man to a young man who begins to live, an order transmitted by sentries going on vacation to sentries who take his place.

Without books, human life is empty. The book is not only our friend, but also our constant, eternal companion.

Demyan Bedny, Russian Soviet writer, poet, publicist

The book is a powerful tool of communication, labor, struggle. It equips man with the experience of the life and struggle of mankind, expands his horizon, gives him knowledge with which he can make the forces of nature serve him.

Nadezhda Krupskaya, Russian revolutionary, Soviet party, public and cultural figure.

Reading good books is a conversation with the best people of the past, and, moreover, such a conversation when they tell us only their best thoughts.

René Descartes, French philosopher, mathematician, physicist and physiologist

Reading is one of the sources of thinking and mental development.

Vasily Sukhomlinsky, an outstanding Soviet teacher and innovator.

Alexei Tolstoy, Russian Soviet writer and public figure

Don't forget that the most colossal tool of all-round education is reading.

Alexander Herzen, Russian publicist, writer, philosopher

Without reading there is no real education, there is not and cannot be any taste, or a word, or a multilateral breadth of understanding; Goethe and Shakespeare are equal to the whole university. Reading man survives centuries.

The Young Guards inflicted significant damage on the enemy: the release of a group of captured Red Army soldiers; the arson of the labor exchange, where there were lists of Soviet people (about 2,000) scheduled for export to Germany; hoisting on the night of November 7, 1942 on the tallest buildings of Krasnodon and nearby villages of the flags of the USSR; participation in sabotage; attack on vehicles with German soldiers and officers; seizure of weapons, distribution of leaflets (about 30 thousand) ...
