The band, called "OTTAWAN", has always been heavily influenced by the lead vocalist PAT, whose full name is Jean-Baptiste Patrick. They recorded their first song in Ottawa (Canada) in 1979. Very quickly, in 1980, “D.I.S.C.O.” becomes extremely popular in France, and the English version conquers one European country after another. The history of the Ottawan group began in 1979, when French producer Daniel Vangar, while visiting a Parisian bar, drew attention to the performing talent of Pat, the lead singer of the group that performed that evening. Pat (real name Jean-Baptiste Patrick) was originally from the Caribbean territories of France and came to Paris, driven by the dream of conquering the musical Olympus.
