Group gas sector biography of Yuri Khoy. Yuri "Khoi" Klinskikh predicted his own death? (1 photo)

24.04.2019

Musician, poet, composer, founder and permanent leader of the Gaza Strip group.

"It's probably better to live without having anything... You become free, like an animal, like a bird... The sky... A lot of time for creativity..." Yury Klinskikh.

His mother, Maria Kuzminichna, was a housewife, and his father, Nikolai Mitrofanovich Klinskikh, was an engineer who worked at the Voronezh aircraft plant. Yuri was not the only son of the Klinsky couple, he had two older brothers. Yuri from childhood grew up as a smart and inquisitive boy, interested in everything he could see. At school, Yuri did not stand out for anything special, he studied for triples and wore “bad luck” home for his behavior. In his diploma of secondary education there was only one B in labor. Yuri often did not go to the first lessons, while staying up late at home with books. He was honest and tried never to lie.

From a young age, the elder brothers introduced Yura to music; rock and roll could often be heard in the Klinsky house. All three brothers, in addition to Soviet music, listened to The Beatles and Deep Purple - first on records, then on reels. The father taught the youngest son to poetry, the study of literature and the rules of versification. He himself wrote poetry all his life, published, but without much success. The lessons given by Nikolai Mitrofanovich later appeared in the rollicking songs of his son, which, despite the "ugly" content, according to literary critics, had "an impeccable style and style."

If Yura's father helped with the syllable, then vacations in the village helped with maintenance, where Yuri often left for the whole summer. Another source of inspiration for Yuri was horror films - first Soviet ones, such as "Viy", then - any that could be obtained on cassettes. Hoy learned to play the guitar at school and then composed his first songs.

After graduating from school and studying at DOSAAF, where Yuri received a driver's license, Yuri was drafted into the army in tank troops.

Its part was stationed in the Far East. Shortly before serving in the army, he met his future wife Galina. Without much incident, Yuri served in Blagoveshchensk as a tank driver and was demobilized in 1984.

After the army, Yuri went to work in the traffic police, but did not take root in the police. “To work in the police, you need to be a bad person. There are, of course, normal people there, but they don’t belong there, ”Yuri said later. He himself always loved speed and cars, he tried not to fine drivers who slightly exceeded the speed limit, he felt sorry for people from the villages. At the same time, he did not like to fawn on his superiors. Once Yuri stopped the mayor of Voronezh, who was driving through a red light. And to the question: “Do you know who I am?”, - he answered that he did not want to know. On another occasion he stopped an important priest, and on both occasions he got himself in trouble. In addition, Hoi could never fulfill the plan for fines assigned by the traffic police. Three years of work in the police were real hard labor for him.

The last few months of his service in the internal affairs bodies, Yuri served in private security, counting the days until the new "demobilization". As Nikolai Mitrofanovich later recalled, Yuri barely worked the last day in the police, came home, took off his uniform, threw it on the floor and began to trample it with his feet. Having finished his bad, in his opinion, work, Yuri worked as a milling machine operator, a CNC machine operator at Videofon and a loader. In his free time, he wrote songs and played the guitar. He bought a Volga-31 and almost crashed on it on a Moscow highway somewhere near Tula. Yuri sold the car restored after the accident, and after that he tried to stay away from domestic car brands. Among his next cars was a red diesel VolksWagen Golf III and a white Daewoo Nexia with power accessories and air conditioning.

In his free time from part-time work, Yuri watched mystical films or horror films, played billiards and studied music. In the period from 1981 to 1985, he recorded an acoustic album "The years pass like a moment ..." on a tape recorder. And when a rock club opened in Voronezh, Yuri became a regular. At a spring concert in 1987, he played for the first time several songs, which he began writing at the same time - in February and March. As Yuri later said, he did not like the poverty of amateur bands and he decided to enrich the rock club with his participation. “I wrote my first poem back in school, I remember something about spring. Then, before the army, he learned to play the guitar and tried to do something. But the songs were primitive, about love, every such trifle. Then, when he came from the army, he worked at the factory and did not think about anything. When the rock club opened, I looked at amateur bands, I didn’t like their poor topics, I remember they sang something about the world, about love, about something so incomprehensible. I decided to shake the old days. And since the experience has already remained, I began to get pretty good. Everyone liked it, and that’s how it all went ... ”, - Yuri later said.

Yuri sang solo in the club or invited someone. On December 5, 1987, he assembled the first line-up of his Gaza Strip and sang the songs “I am scum”, “Crazy Corpse”, “Drowned Man” and “Collective Farm Punk” on the stage of a rock club. “I never considered myself a punk ...”, - Yuri said at the same time.

At first, Sector Gaza performed as an opening act for groups that came to Voronezh, such as Sounds of Mu and Children. The name "Gaza Strip" was for Yura a "mysterious combination" and at the same time - its "on the board" Voronezh reality. In his childhood, it was heard because of the Arab-Israeli confrontation, which was then often talked about on the radio. And in Voronezh, this was the name of an industrial zone with a large number of factories and smoking chimneys, and a corresponding criminal atmosphere, where a rock club was located. In general, it was easy for Yuri to come up with a name for his team. According to him, it was "a local name for a band that wasn't going to go beyond urban rock clubs". In the future, the composition of the Gaza Strip has undergone many changes throughout its existence, but the soloist and leader of the group has always remained the same: Yuri Khoi selected people for himself.

Two years later, by 1989, the group recorded two "cassette" albums - "Plows-woogie" and "Collective farm punk". The quality of the recordings was terrible, and they sold exclusively in Voronezh. The breakthrough for the team was the album "Evil Dead", published in 1990.

Many works, especially from early songs, were autobiographical for Yuri. The songs "Java" and "Ment" were written after Yuri left the sobering-up station, and the songs "Very Louse" and "I Took the Blame" were dedicated to my brother. At that time, Yuri himself tried to "dissolve" himself and the "lyrical hero" - "a kind of monster in smelly socks, who suffered from all known venereal diseases and earned impotence." He said that singing about human vices is not the same as endorsing them. For Yura, such songs were, rather, some special way of dealing with them.

Hoy never considered himself a classic "punk". “Maybe at the beginning of creativity, pure “punk” was visible in some places,” he said in his interviews. Basically, Yuri did what he personally liked, without being attached to the style. Indeed, musically, his albums were quite diverse. Yura himself defined the style of his team as "fusion".

We were born with a mother, we live with a mother.
With mothers we studied, with mothers we will die.
We ate Matershin with mother's milk.
With my mother, my dad beat my mother with his fist.

Hoy's role models and favorite music were western bands - Rage Against The Machine, Biohazard, AC/DC and Alice Cooper. In recent years, Yura was influenced by heavy rap with its blues, clear rhythms and rock guitars, and throughout his career he loved punk and death metal. In an interview, Yuri said: "Gaza Strip" is not even a group, but one of my projects. Even now I cannot say that "Sector" is a group. It's more like a live line-up, because I always work alone in the studio. And since 1992 I have been inviting Igor Zhirnov, the guitarist of the Rondo group. I am not at all a supporter of changing musicians, as, say, the same BG does. If someone left, then only of his own free will. The main thing in the team is that the person should not be goaty. After all, sometimes the tour can drag on for several weeks or even more. And to be near such a person - no, I'm sorry.

The pseudonym "Khoy" clung to Yura immediately and quite firmly. In general, this exclamation was then used by many performers - from Venya D'rkin to Yegor Letov, borrowing something from Oi! British cockney music, or from the minds of BG, but only Yuri Klinskikh made him a pseudonym. “Hoi, young month! Hanging - nailed!" - said Venya D'rkin. As Yuri himself said: “Hoi” is just an exclamation, I often say it during songs. The fact that it reminds someone of Tsoi (with whom Yura was personally, albeit sporadically, familiar) is an accident. However, in the last years of his life, Yuri began to use the pseudonym "so that there are no problems with traffic cops" less. And then they will stop, and he, “What are you, guys, I’m a soloist in the Gaza Strip. And they - “Lie! Hoi sings there."

After the success of the Evil Dead and Vigorous Louse albums, which Yuri sent to Moscow with the help of his friend, the group began performing at various parties, but Yuri quickly got tired of it. “When we entered the big stage, a person who had previously worked only with“ pop music ”and who, at the word“ rock and roll ”, began to feel sick, began to deal with us,” Yuri Khoy said in an interview.

Yuri did not want to move to Moscow - “the depraved city of impudent youth”, although he took advantage of the opportunity to record at the Mir studio. His recordings were published by one of the first Russian labels - Gala Records. Yuri began legal concerts, and with him - concerts of fake "Khoi" in the cities. Yuri himself did not like to "shine" and deliberately supported the growth of rumors and legends about his group. Because of the huge sales on cassettes, everyone knew his group, but most of the sound media was released by pirates. Hoy did not complain, he lived from the percentage that Gala Records paid him after the realization of rights in Moscow, official releases on Black Box in Voronezh and numerous concerts. “I am not ashamed of my city, I have lived in it all my life, in it, most likely, I will die ...”, said Yuri.

During their creative activity, the group has toured many cities in Russia and abroad - in Belarus, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine and Estonia. The albums were released in 1994, then re-released by Gala Records in 1997.

"Push the Gas" and "Collective Farm Punk" were also released in 1991 and 1993 - already on CDs and permanent cassettes. In 1991, at his concert in Moscow, Yuri met Olga Samarina, whom he later met in the last years of his life, not hiding this from his wife Galina.

The popularity of the Gaza Strip group grew very quickly. It is known that Vladimir Zhirinovsky was delighted with the songs of the Gaza Strip, and the apolitical Khoy "reciprocated" the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, but - for money. Yura did not have his own political predilections, sending all politics “... in the ass. Gimlet!

He was quite satisfied with the political system, because he had the opportunity to earn good money from his talent. “We don’t care who we play for, we are far from politics. Zhirinovsky pays - we play for Zhirinovsky, another faction will pay - we will play for it, ”said Yuri Khoy. However, Hoy believed that if he had to get stuck in the loaders, then, of course, he would be dissatisfied with the government.

Everyone says: everything is very good in the West.
Whoever says this to me like this, I will grind it to powder!
Everything that is Soviet is nishtyak - cars and pants,
Let everything be expensive, but everything is ours, boys.

As the popularity of Khoi's songs grew, they actually became folk music, the music of demobilizations, vocational schools, students and rural youth. Zhlobrockgroup - so ironically often called the "Gaza Strip" - a group that Hoy himself compared to porn, and which was not accepted by either rock or pop music. Even Yuri Nikulin liked the work of the group. After Yuri Khoy played a concert at the Nikulin Circus, the famous artist invited the young man to his dressing room. Under the words of admiration and gratitude, Nikulin took out a bottle of cognac and invited Khoi to talk. The artist himself was so flattered by these compliments that he often told his friends and relatives about this incident.

The songs of Yuri Khoi amazed the listeners with their frankness. With surgical precision, he opened the deepest recesses of the human soul, which were not talked about in the USSR. His work aroused either deep interest or protest from the audience. The artistry of the band leader and only live performances were the opposite of the concerts of the performers who performed to the soundtrack. Yuri Khoy also caused a stir outside the stage: for example, during one of his last concerts in Voronezh, he rode around the city on a horse, portraying Koshchei the Immortal. Regarding his image, Yuri Khoy had a very interesting position - he tried to talk less about the group, believing that the lack of complete information causes more excitement in the listener.

It is known that Yuri wanted to play in a concert with the DDT or Alisa groups, but he was not called, and he himself did not ask for it. In 1994, he recorded the punk opera Kashchei the Immortal, which was a thrash mixture of Russian fairy tales and music in the spirit of AC / DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ace Of Base. For this "fairy tale" it was planned to create a video sequence, but this was prevented by the death of Yuri. He managed to shoot only a few scenes, and now there are working video versions of the tracks on the Internet: "Ivan and the Frogs' Aria", "Ivan's Second Aria" and "Ivan's Third Aria".

Hoy filmed a video for the song "Fog" - with a black and white chronicle of Russian wars. In total, the Gaza Strip released 4 clips. The fifth video for the song "Night of Fear" was not completed due to the death of the singer.

Since 1996, Yuri Khoy has changed the style of the group several times, many of the texts have become more serious and cleared of obscenities. The result of these experiments was the album "Gas Attack", which later became the most commercially successful in the history of the group. In 1999, Yuri Klinskikh became a character in the comic strip "The Adventures of Yura Khoi in the Kingdom of Evil." The comic consisted of fabulous adventures, the hero of which was the leader of the Gaza Strip himself, who collected his albums. The author of the comic was artist Dmitry Samborsky.

In the late 1990s, Sector Gaza released a number of techno-remixes featuring the Voronezh DJ Krota. In the last years of his life, Yuri decided to change his image and sound. Instead of leather jackets, ripped jeans, old T-shirts and army boots, black expensive shoes, dark trousers and a shirt appeared in his wardrobe. Instead of the rollicking "collective farm" punk, the listeners were offered the "cool heavy" of the last album. “I always strove for a heavy sound,” said Yuri Khoy.

By the end of the 1990s, friends began to suspect that he had a strong drug addiction. In addition, as friends believed, his companion Olga was a drug addict. “I have tried almost all drugs, but I’m not used to anything and I’m not going to get used to it. I tried it - and that's enough, ”said Yuri Khoy.

In 2000, Yuri was full of the brightest plans. For three years he nurtured the concept of a new album, which was originally supposed to be called "Poor Yurik". In 1998, Yuri changed the name to Hellraiser, deciding to make a completely mystical rap album, which Yuri completed in June 2000. But its release did not wait.

By the release of this thirteenth album, Hoy planned to shoot a video clip. He had sponsors ready to invest significant resources in advertising. On July 4, 2000, he was going to go to the shooting of the video clip "Night of Fear" at the Art-Prize studio in Voronezh. Operator Oleg Zolotarev, on the air of the Tower program on RTR in the fall of 2000, recalled the joint work on the video Night of Fear: “Already in June, he called me and said that we would urgently shoot the video. On June 22, they started filming for the first time. The last time the shooting was scheduled was just on the day of his death. We agreed on four hours a day. I sat waiting for him. I waited, waited, waited ... Andrey Deltsov called instead of him, said that Yura was no more.

On July 4, the shooting was scheduled for 16 hours, Khoy himself and his girlfriend Olga Samarina were supposed to take part in it. Before filming, they had to visit the make-up artist at the Theater of the Young Spectator. In the morning, Yuri felt unwell, he was pale, his forehead was covered with perspiration, he could not understand what was happening to him, but after drinking an aspirin, he decided to go anyway.

At 11:30, Yuri Khoi and Olga Samarina left their rented apartment on Dorozhnaya Street, in the South-Western District. By car, they went to the make-up artist, a meeting with which was scheduled for 12:00. At 11:40 on the road, Yuriy felt worse and worse, and decided to change the route. He turned onto Barnaulskaya Street, where his friend Andrey Ksenz lived in the private sector. Hoy went to his house and immediately lay down on the sofa, unable to stand on his feet. He suffered from severe pain in his left side and abdomen. Olga was nearby. Soon she went into another room for cigarettes, and there she heard a roar - it was Yuri who fell to the floor, losing consciousness.

Olga and the owner of the house unsuccessfully tried to bring Khoy back to life by giving him artificial respiration. They tried to call an ambulance, however, they flatly refused to write down the address with a dubious reputation as a drug den. From the fifth time, Samarina still managed to transfer the address. She ran outside to meet the ambulance. At this time, Yuri died.

Later, in official medical documents, it was written: "Sudden death." As for the unofficial version, there were many. We can only say for sure that Yuri was killed by his lifestyle, frantic tours, work for wear and tear - in the last 10 years at concerts, Hoy always gave all his best and never looked after his health. The consequences of a turbulent youth could not but affect: “From the age of 23, I don’t remember myself being sober for a day,” Hoy described his youth in approximately this way.

I'm a very humble guy
I'm a very quiet guy.
In general, when I'm sober, I'm a clean standard.
But often I go wild, but often I shize
As soon as the chatter, I will drop the balloon.

He began to monitor his health only very recently, when it was already too late. In addition, during a tour of the Far East in the fall of 1999, Yuri fell ill with hepatitis C.

Yuri Khoi, who adored heavy sound and heavy rap, speed, simple words and mystical horrors, even “made” his death look like an unassuming “horror movie”. The sum of the digits of her date was 13, his last album - "Hellraiser" - contained 13 songs, was the 13th album, released in the 13th year of the existence of "SG", and two memorial days - 9 and 40 fell on the 13th.

Yuri Khoi was buried at the Left Bank Cemetery in Voronezh.

Yuri's wife Galina never married after his death and lived with her youngest daughter. Yuri had two daughters. Irina became a psychologist after graduating from the Voronezh Pedagogical Institute. Lily is currently studying. The eldest daughter, Yuri, had a son, Matvey, in 2011.

In memory of Yuri Klinsky, a documentary television program was created, shown on October 20, 2000 on the RTR television channel as part of the Tower project. And in June 2002, the Gas Attack Sector group released their debut album, which they dedicated to the memory of Yuri.

In 2004, the book "Gaza Strip" was published through the eyes of loved ones. The book contained recollections of relatives of Yuri Klinsky, articles, interviews, little-known facts from the life of the Gaza Strip group and its leader, memoirs of fans, poems dedicated to Yuri Klinsky. In 2005, the recording studio "Gala Records" released a tribute album to the group "Gaza Strip", in which such groups and performers as "NAIV", "Bricks", Sergey Kagadeev ("NOM"), "Mongol Shuudan", " Bakhyt-Kompot", Igor Kushchev (ex-"Gaza Strip") and other groups. On June 30, 2006, on the DTV channel in the TV show “How the idols left”, a story about the work of Yuri Klinsky was aired.

On October 5, 2008, a short film was dedicated to the memory of Yuri Klinsky, shown on the NTV channel in the TV show "The Main Hero".

On December 6, 2012, a concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Gaza Strip group was held in the city of St. Petersburg. July 26, 2014 in the city of Samara in the rock bar "Podval" there was a concert called "I'm 50!" Dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the leader of the legendary Gaza Strip Yuri Klinsky, with the participation of Samara groups and performers.

On July 27, 2014, on the fiftieth anniversary of the birth of Yuri Klinsky, a monument was erected in the form of a full-length sculpture, and a festival in memory of Yuri Khoi was held.

Yuri Nikolaevich Klinsky (Khoy)(July 27, Voronezh - July 4, Voronezh) - Soviet and Russian musician, poet, composer, founder and leader of the Gaza Strip group.

Biography

Childhood

Yuri Klinskikh was born in Voronezh in the family of Nikolai Mitrofanovich, an engineer at the Voronezh Aviation Plant, and Maria Kuzminichna Klinskikh. At school, Yuri studied poorly, mostly in triples, but he had an irresistible passion for music. Passion for versification was instilled in him by his father, who wrote poetry and tried to publish. Yura learned early about the existence of Western rock culture, as rock and roll was often heard in the Klinsky family. Shortly thereafter, he decided to learn the guitar on his own. Dad's lessons were not in vain, so Yura began to compose poems, from which his first songs were later formed.

Youth and early career

Klinsky served in the Far East in tank troops. Demobilized in 1984. After serving in the army, Yuri worked for three years as a traffic police inspector and one year in private security, then as a milling machine operator, a CNC machine operator at the Voronezh Videofon, a loader, and wrote songs in his spare time. He perceived his work as a hobby, not even dreaming of a big stage. After the opening of the rock club in Voronezh, he became a regular. In the spring of 1987, the club hosted a concert at which Yuri performed several songs of his own composition. For two years he performed solo or with guest musicians. The first composition of the group, called the Gas Sector, met on December 5, 1987 and changed frequently in the future. The name of the group was due to the nickname of the part of the Levoberezhny district of Voronezh, known for the tense environmental situation and the criminogenic situation. As for the pseudonym, it came from Yuri's signature cry: "Hoi!", Which he often uttered during his performances.

Yuri Klinskikh at a concert in 1996

At first, the Gas Sector performed as an opening act for groups that came to Voronezh, such as Sounds of Mu and Children. Due to the abundance of profanity in the lyrics, the Gas Sector remained in the underground for a long time. Yuri Klinskikh in those years worked first at a consumer electronics factory, then as a loader; music did not bring income. The group did not give concerts outside Voronezh, the records of the Gas Sector were distributed throughout the country by the efforts of fans.

heyday

The group gained general fame only in 1990 after the release of the albums The Evil Dead and Vigorous Louse, which Yura sent to Moscow with the help of his friend. In 1991, the Gas Sector got the opportunity to record an album in Moscow at the Mir studio, soon the group’s recordings were published by one of the first commercial recording companies in Russia, Gala Records, after which the group’s popularity increased significantly and it was able to legally give concerts . The albums were officially released in Voronezh at the Black Box studio, and the Moscow studio Gala Records released them in 1994 and re-released them in 1997. The albums Kolkhozny Punk and Press the Gas were released in 1991 and 1993 respectively on LP, CD and cassette.

In June 1994, Yuri recorded the punk opera "Kashchei the Immortal" in the form of a new album. Later, Yuri wanted to create a video version of this album, but his death prevented this. He managed to shoot only a few scenes, and now there are video versions of the tracks on the Internet: "Ivan and the Frogs' Aria", "Ivan's Second Aria" and "Ivan's Third Aria".

Klinsky did not earn much money, due to the prosperity of "piracy", which affected the number of licensed discs sold, which is approximately 1% of the total. However, the group and its leader became quite famous in Russia and the CIS. Despite the fact that the group's later lyrics were more restrained, most fans and representatives of the music industry associated "Gas Sector" with obscene language and obscene songs. During the creative activity, the group went on tour in many cities of Russia and abroad.

Death

On July 4, 2000, at 11 am in Voronezh, Yuri died. On this day, he was going to go to the shooting of the video clip "Night of Fear". There are many rumors about Yuri's death: according to the official version, he died of a heart attack, although he had never had any heart problems before. According to the unofficial version, Yuri took drugs and suffered from hepatitis, which was the cause of death. Until now, the true circumstances of his death remain a mystery. The last studio work of the Gas Sector group was the album HellRaiser, which was released after the death of Yuri Klinsky.

Yuri's death was preceded by strange circumstances. So, at his last concert, he tried to perform the song "Demobilization" to the soundtrack, but he failed to do this and simply left the stage. The sound engineer of the group Andrei Deltsov recommended that the same song be included in the next album when recording the last album Hellraiser (it allegedly did not fit in style), but Yuri convinced the sound engineer not to do this, fearing not to live up to the next album. In one of the songs, he also sang: “The gas sector - you won’t live to be forty here,” and by coincidence, he did not live to see the 36th anniversary of 23 days.

Personal life

  • Contrary to his image as a lone rebel, Yuri "Khoi" Klinskikh was married with two daughters, Irina (b. 1986) and Lilya (b. 1995).
  • In 1991, at his concert, Yuri met Olga Samarina, whom he later met, the last years of his life, without hiding this from his wife Galina. According to close people, it was Olga who addicted Yuri to drug use.
  • In 1999, Yura Khoy became a character in the comic strip Yura Khoy's Adventures in the Realm of Evil. The comic consists of fabulous adventures, the hero of which is the leader of the Gas Sector, who collects his albums. The author of the comic is artist Dmitry Samborsky.
  • Klinsky was never a member of any party. Despite this, the Gas Sector group performed for some time at LDPR propaganda concerts. Yuri commented on it as follows:

Biography

Sektor Gaza is a rock band created by Yuri Klinskikh in 1987 in Voronezh.

Sektor Gaza is named after the area in Voronezh where Yury Khoy lived. Explanation - there were many factories in the area, which is why it was nicknamed the "Gas Sector". The group joins a local rock club and is rapidly gaining popularity not only in their hometown, but also beyond. The songs of the Klinskys, describing the life and life of ordinary representatives of working youth, found a response in the hearts of that very youth. The hits of the "Gaza Strip" are sung in the doorways and basements of the whole country, while the group is completely ignored by the mass media of the USSR. Klinskikh himself works at the plant as an ordinary worker. All-Union glory does not bring Yuri any financial resources. For the habit taken from Yegor Letov, shouting from the stage: "Hoi!", Fans give him the nickname "Yura Khoi".

At the same time, one of the first recording companies of the post-perestroika USSR, Gala Records, is engaged in the promotion of the team. The group's albums are released one after another. According to unofficial data, Sektor Gaza is the leader in music distribution, Hoy and the company are touring the CIS. With the participation of the group, the release of the famous "Program A" is even broadcast on television.

In fact, the Gaza Strip is Yuri Klinskikh + a constantly changing line-up of musicians. At one time, Tatyana Fateeva worked in the group, successfully complementing Khoy on vocals.

Throughout the 90s, the “Gaza Strip”, which was actually ignored not only by the mass media, but also by brothers in the rock workshop (the best example of this is the lack of information about S.G. in the rock encyclopedia “Who is who in the Soviet roque" of the 91st year). Enjoyed great popularity in the "lower classes" of society, among the so-called "gopniks". At the same time, Khoy's peppery creativity had enough admirers in more intellectual circles. The group also performed in foreign countries: in Germany, Israel.

On July 4, 2000, his body could not stand it, there was a liver failure, and Klinskikh died of a heart attack in the apartment of a friend in Voronezh. Soon the last album of the group "Hellraiser" was released.

Then a wave of Klinsky followers began. Former musicians of S. G. or simply acquaintances of Yuri create groups using the themes developed by Hoi and the name "Gaza Strip". Many consider such "inheritance" a violation of moral rights. Moreover, the epigones of Yuri could not fill the niche that arose after the death of the Klinskys.

This is not surprising - the popularity of the Gaza Strip was largely a consequence of the era in which the group developed. The people of the former USSR have already passed that round of cultural development, which caused the popularity of the group. "Painful" emotions were released and did not need to be repeated. However, there is a simpler explanation the group's epigones never reached the level of the Klinskys, neither in terms of text, nor in terms of music, and even more so in terms of popularity.

Although the groups “ex-Gaza Strip” (founded by Igor Kushchev) and “Gas Attack Sector” (founded by Sergey Guznin (Kim) and Tatyana Fateeva) gained quite a lot of popularity. The latter group collaborated with Red Mold on the punk musical Little Red Riding Hood (2001).

Yuri Klinskikh came from the typical environment of the Soviet workers' quarters. He was a poor student and after graduating from school and the army did not stay long at any workplace. Klinsky was not in prison, but his closest relatives went through this school of life. Klinskikh was not only a witness, but also a participant in brawls and group fights, typical of residential areas. At the same time, Yuri was fond of music since childhood, played the guitar and was a rather intelligent, thinking person. Having absorbed the specific culture of his environment, he poured out the acquired experience into songs. Keeping the jargon and following the concepts of the lumpen milo close to him, Hoy brilliantly recreated reality, rhyming it into verses. The heroes of his songs are simple guys "next door", workers (sometimes vice versa - they are villagers, "collective farmers"), alcoholics, homeless people, people of a criminal or semi-criminal persuasion. They are interested in everyday problems with whom to drink, with whom to sleep, what to do later. It was this unpretentiousness and obviousness of the characters that so pleased the very people about whom Klinsky wrote his songs.

In addition, a large layer of Klinsky's work is devoted to the theme of the afterlife. The plots of these songs usually develop in the countryside. The heroes of the songs are the same “collective farmers” or “hard workers”.

However, Yuri did not stand in one place, developing as a musician and poet. He willingly experimented with the theme and form of songs, musically parodying well-known motifs. A striking example is his rock fairy tale (punk opera) "Kashchei the Immortal". Klinskikh was fond of various musical trends from hard rock to black rap, which was reflected in his songs. The best incorruptibles of Hoy include not only the early hits of the Gaza Strip stuffed with obscenities, but also such serious songs as Fog, Home, Life, 30 Years.

Yuri Klinskikh revered the work of Vladimir Vysotsky, often drawing parallels between himself and the legendary bard. The song "On the Night Before Christmas" was written by Yura, clearly under the influence of Vysotsky's song "Pursuit".

Gaza Strip was mistakenly believed to be a punk band. Klinskikh indeed initially used punk paraphernalia on the stage, thereby creating a precedent for such an opinion. However, the arrangements of S. G.'s songs have nothing to do with punk rock: "dead" drums on studio recordings, the dominance of synthesizers and "heavy" guitar solos gave the group's sound a rather "pop" tone. The nihilism in the lyrics is also not enough to qualify Sektor as a punk band, since the songs actually lack outrageousness or open protest. Klinskikh himself later expressed dissatisfaction with the overall studio sound, and in turn characterized the group's musical style as "fusion". Given that the lyrics of the Klinskys gradually became more and more in-depth, the attempts of the so-called friends of Khoy, who allegedly reanimate the Gaza Strip after the death of the Klinskys, look especially pale against his background.

In the last years of his life, Yuri, who abused not only alcohol, but also heroin, suffered from hepatitis C. Nevertheless, the death of Klinsky came as a surprise to many fans. Yuri was not a rich man, his family was left virtually without money, as a result of which a large-scale campaign took place on the Internet to raise money for the Klinsky monument.

Yuri Khoy, founder and soloist of the Gaza Strip group, died on July 4, 2000 from cardiac arrest. The circumstances of death have not yet been fully elucidated. Hoy is considered the creator of the so-called "collective farm" rock. Most of his life was spent in his native city of Voronezh.

The cause of Yuri Khoi's death still remains in the shadow of doubt. The deceased artist left behind not only an extensive discography, but also a number of mysteries, the answer to which he took with him to the grave.

Last day of life

The date of death of the lead singer of the Gaza Strip is July 4, 2000. This event took place in the private sector of his hometown, on Barnaulskaya Street.

Initially, Yuri planned to shoot a video clip for the song "Night of Fear". Why his plans changed so suddenly, history is silent. The reason for his visit to the ill-fated address also remains unknown.

According to the owners of that house, the artist became ill, and the called ambulance could no longer help. Hoi died at the time of her arrival.

In view of the fact that no traces of violent death were found, no investigation was carried out. And after the funeral, it turned out that the autopsy information was missing from the morgue. Therefore, the official result was recorded from the words of the pathologist who did the autopsy.

In total, several versions were voiced that could cause death:

  • heart attack - official, issued after a medical examination. As a refutation, it should be noted that before this, Yuri had no complaints about his heart;
  • the wild life of a singer. Serious alcohol addiction and past hepatitis could well affect the functioning of the body;
  • the third version - esoteric - the influence of otherworldly forces that took him to them. In the singer's repertoire, calls to the devil, the dead and ridicule of death were repeatedly mentioned.

On July 6, on the day of the funeral, it was raining heavily, despite this, thousands of fans came to see Khoy on his last journey. The farewell ceremony took place in the Luch House of Culture. The funeral service is in the oldest church in Voronezh, in the Assumption Church on Admiralteyskaya Square. The grave of Yuri Klinsky is located in the southeastern part of the Left Bank cemetery, on site No. 7.

The vocalist's wife recalls that he had a premonition of his death: “I don’t know why, but during the last concert, Yura could not perform the song“ Demobilization ”. He didn't say... Then Hoy just left the stage. Deltsov suggested that this song be included in the next album, arguing that it does not fit the theme of this one (all compositions were devoted to evil spirits). Yuri refused and persuaded to leave everything as it is ... As if he felt that he would not live to see the next one.

Hoya's memory

Of all the numerous interviews with Hoi, not a single one is professional. The reason is either the laconicism of the leader of the Gaza Strip or the fact that all the journalists that came across were of low standard. A similar example was given in his research article “Gas Factor II (On the poetics of Yuri Khoi)” by M. G. Osokin, a journalist, author of numerous publications.

In general, after the death of the star, a lot of words were said about his repertoire and personality. Among the most famous are the following:

  • documentary book by Roman Gnoevoy "The Gaza Strip through the Eyes of Relatives";
  • documentary book by Vladimir Tikhomirov "Epitaph rock gouging";
  • a clip shown in the youth program "Tower" on the air of October 20, 2000;
  • a program dedicated to the life, work and death of the artist “How the idols left. Yuri Klinskikh, released on DTV;
  • the comic "Yura Khoy's Adventures in the Realm of Evil", drawn by D. Samborsky, tells about the adventures of a hero who collects his albums.

The statements of colleagues in the creative workshop were ambiguous:

  • Svetlana Razina (Soloist of the Mirage group) admitted that she simply adores his work;
  • Mikhail Krug, on the contrary, said that such music should be listened to in the car, well, at most, in the yards. But not sounding from the stage;
  • Valery Kipelov ("Aria") knows that the team has many fans. But he himself is not a supporter of profanity;
  • Alena Vinnitskaya ("Viagra") replied that "Sector Gaza" is one of her favorite groups.

Much has been said about Khoi's work, life and death, some liked him, some annoyed him. But in any case, he left his indelible mark on the history of the Russian musical movement called punk rock.

life path

The singer's biography was cut short 23 days before his 36th birthday. Most friends and acquaintances blame Olga Samarina for his death.

Family and hometown

Klinskikh Yuri Nikolaevich (Khoi) was born in Voronezh on July 27, 1964, in the family of an engineer and a riveter. The childhood years of the future idol of millions are not remarkable in any way. An ordinary boy, not distinguished by perseverance and a craving for school sciences.

He started writing poetry at school age. He received his first skills from his father, who had such prerequisites. Klinskikh Sr. even published some of his works in the local newspaper. Yura's childhood passed in the native district of the city in which he was born.

The city of Voronezh, or rather its Levoberezhny district, made a certain contribution to the Soviet, and then Russian, history of music. The difficult ecological situation, the abundance of industrial enterprises and the criminogenic situation have made it an unfavorable sector of the capital of the region.

The people called the area "Gaza Strip", this is what served as an example for Yura Klinsky. As a result, the group was named after the home area of the city, and not the state located in the Persian Gulf.

Education and the army

In 1981, after graduating from Voronezh secondary school No. 30, Yura gets a job at a factory and at the same time learns to drive a ZIL-130 truck at the DOSAAF school. Approximately this period dates from the acquaintance with his future wife - Galya.

Military service in the ranks of the Soviet Army took place in Blagoveshchensk, in the tank troops belonging to the support battalion.

Returning home in 1984, he gets a job as a traffic police officer, where he has been working for 3 years. The reason for the change of job is not mentioned anywhere, however, he had to serve out the term set under the contract in the structures of private security.

After being fired from the police, he works at a factory. First as a loader, then as a milling machine operator, he tries to work as a machine operator. In his free time, he plays the guitar and writes poetry.

Creation of the Gaza Strip Group

The soloist recorded his first album at the age of 17, before being drafted into the army. It was partially re-recorded upon its return. The rock club that opened in 1987 attracted him with its atmosphere. He gave the first concerts solo, the formation of a musical group dates back only to the summer of 1988.

Initially, the image of Hoya completely suited him. Swearing, a lone rebel in the guise of a punk - this is exactly what Yura Klinskikh was at the dawn of the formation of the group. This style pursued him until the mid-90s.

The change in image did not occur abruptly, but gradually. Biker jacket, faded jeans and combat boots are replaced by a shirt, trousers and even-numbered shoes. Later, the singer said that the anger and wind of his young years had passed, and now his goal is to strive for progress and grow up.

Popularity

The release of the album "Evil Dead" and "Very Louse" gave the musical group wide recognition. He sends the tapes to the capital, where, through his acquaintance, who was engaged in the distribution of audio cassettes, he promotes them to the listener.

Soon, Moscow businessman Fidel Simonov showed interest in young Voronezh children. He specially comes to Voronezh, gets acquainted with them and helps to move on:

  • helps financially with the recording of the next album;
  • organizes several concerts.

As a result, in 1991 Sektor Gaza recorded the album The Night Before Christmas at the Moscow recording studio Mir.

The reason for the termination of mutually beneficial cooperation with Fidel was different views on the further actions of the group. The newly-minted administrator planned to make several duplicating bands of the Gaza Strip and send all of them on tour across vast Russia, to different cities. Hoya didn't like that. Thus, the partners ceased their joint activities.

What Yura did not want to do, nevertheless happened. Numerous musical groups toured the country and gave "plywood" concerts under their name. The lack of official information about the group did its job. Once he himself witnessed such a falsification, and in order to figure it out, he climbed onto the stage. However, it did not end with anything other than beating him.

The time of perestroika, general bans and restrictions made the people hungry for spectacles and those same bans. In his compositions, Yura Khoy used exactly such topics that are relevant to listeners.

The lyrics of the songs mainly touched on the problems of that time:

  • "Plow-Woogie";
  • "Vidak";
  • "Walk man";
  • "Bum".

The second direction, which the author and the whole group followed, was the afterlife:

  • "Walpurgis Night";
  • "Evil Dead";
  • "Christmas Eve";
  • "Black magic".

In total, there are 15 albums in the creative biography of the Gaza Strip group, the first 2 of which were recorded on a magnet.

In 2015, Irina Klinskikh accidentally discovers a sample of her father's unreleased song "Howl at the Moon". Initially, she was supposed to get into the collection "Gas Attack". Yuri considered it unsuccessful and did not publish it. After computer processing, it was added, and a new, reissued album was released 15 years after the artist's death.

Family life

As mentioned earlier, Yura met his wife even before being drafted into the army. The girl waited for him, and upon his return, the young people played a wedding. The eldest daughter Irina was born in 1984. After 11 years - there was a second - Lily.

At one of the Moscow concerts, the idol of youth meets Olga Samarina. This meeting can be called fatal for his family relationships. Since 1991, they have been dating practically without hiding their relationship.

The mistress, who was 11 years younger, was present in his life until his death. Numerous photographs confirm that together they were at parties in Moscow clubs.

Around 1998, Galina learns that her husband has a mistress. She invites him to leave, but receives a negative response in response. As a result, Yuri persuaded her not to file for divorce and give her some time. Subsequently, everything was not resolved. The first punk rocker of the Russian stage until his death lived in 2 families, torn between his beloved women.

Relatives of the artist accused Samarina of having hooked Yura on heroin and became the culprit of death. The girl does not deny this, but claims that together they underwent a course of treatment and the problem was solved.

After the death of a loved one, Galina's wife stayed with her daughters and never married. Olga Samarina connected fate with another man and gave birth to a son.

Yuri Khoy remained in the history of Russian music as a performer who radically differed from established traditions. With his work, he gave impetus to its development, creating a new branch of rock, called collective farm.
