Lips sideways with a pencil. How to draw lips with a simple pencil: a step-by-step lesson

09.07.2019

If you decide to draw a person's face, it is important, first of all, to accurately and correctly draw the eyes of a person, since the eyes convey the mood, character, emotions of a person in a drawing. To achieve a likeness in a portrait, it is important to accurately draw any features, but the eyes and lips are the most important elements of drawing a person's face. Incorrectly drawn lips can distort the entire drawing, give a facial expression, mood, emotions, etc., that are not characteristic of a given person.
In this lesson, you will learn how to draw lips person using a step-by-step method. The drawing of the lips is made with a simple pencil.

1. Draw lips using simple outlines

To draw beautiful lips, you first need to make a simple markup, in the form of three parallel lines. Do exactly the same as in my drawing, just keep in mind that the farther the small lines are from the main line, the thicker the lips in the drawing will be. In this figure, the distance between the upper and lower lines is 4 cm, the length of the central line is 13 cm, the length of short lines is 3 cm.

2. Lips return to their original shape

Using a step-by-step drawing method, you can even draw very beautiful lips without even knowing how to draw. You will see this at the end of this lesson. In the meantime, let's continue the drawing and connect short lines, forming the corners of the lips. Look, it can already be said that you could draw lips.

3. Lips get real shape

It would be too easy to draw if all the lines in the portrait could be drawn with a ruler. You will have to use a little imagination and draw a "real" shape of the lips, divide the upper lip with a "heart" into two parts. You must reduce the upper contour, and increase the lower one, on the contrary.

4. How to draw the dividing line of the lips

First, erase the old markup with an eraser, and look at the lips almost like "real". But you still need to draw a dividing line between the lips. To do this, almost repeat the contour of the top to the main dividing line, slightly stretching its central part - the "heart". It is desirable to do this exactly as in my drawing. Do not rush to remove the marking line from the drawing. She will not hurt to draw lips. Obtained from the intersection of the lines of fate, simply shade with a soft simple pencil.

5. The lip drawing is almost finished

To lips drawing was realistic, you need to make them voluminous. Volume is achieved with shadows, so apply light shadows around the edges of the lips and where they meet. Perhaps you will paint the lips with colored pencils, then this can already be done at this stage. If you decide to draw lips with a simple pencil, then you need to complete one more step.

6. How to draw human lips. Shadows

A person's lips have "wrinkles" or folds that stretch when they smile. To accurately and beautifully draw lips, draw these "little things". After that, apply the shadows with a soft pencil and your drawing is now completely finished. Now I hope you will agree with me that drawing a person's lips in stages is quite simple.

When drawing a person, you should see the entire future image of him from the intended lines, and you only need to draw them on paper. In the fine arts, the most important thing is not the accuracy of the proportions and lines of the drawing, but the image of the main, the most important. Very often, for this it is enough to accurately draw eyes and lips that will convey the mood and character of a person.

Face drawings, human eyes, portraits - this is the most difficult type of fine art. Learning to draw a portrait of a person, a person's eyes, even with a simple pencil, requires not only time for learning, but also talent. The complexity of drawing a portrait of a person lies in the ability to convey the emotional state of a person, his facial expressions, the depth of his gaze, etc.

The eyes in the anime drawing are the basis of this style. All pictures of girls drawn in anime style are distinguished by huge eyes - black, blue, green. But definitely huge and expressive. Lips are drawn in this style conditionally, without drawing details.

When drawing a face, the eyes need to be given the most attention. It is also important to draw the lips correctly, as they reflect the emotional state and character of a person. In this lesson you can learn how to draw eyes.

The nose of each person has unique features, so it is impossible to give accurate advice on how to draw the nose of a girl, child or man.

Drawing a hand is very convenient, because with one hand you draw, and with the other you can sketch.

Lip liner is a real lifesaver for girls. Each of us should know how to make up lips with a pencil, because it can be used to correct the shape, visually enlarge or reduce the lips, make them more prominent, perform a minimalist make-up by applying a “solo” pencil on the lips, extend the durability of lipstick using it. as a substrate, to prevent the "runaway" of gloss by drawing a contour. One tool, many uses. Let's learn how to draw lips beautifully with a pencil.

Drawing lessons with a contour pencil

Today, matte textures are the most current trend in makeup. Finding a matte lipstick in the right shade can be problematic, but you can find a pencil of the desired color. So that such a make-up does not bring discomfort in the sock, because many products tighten the skin on the lips and dry it out, it is recommended to pre-cover the lips with hygienic lipstick or a colorless balm, and after absorbing it, draw lips beautifully with a pencil.

Step-by-step instructions for drawing matte lips

We offer you a clear photo instruction for beginners, explaining how to draw lips with a pencil in stages:

  1. To beautifully make up your lips with a pencil, first of all, powder them a little. So the contour will definitely not “creep away” at the most inopportune moment.
  2. We start drawing with the “bird” on the upper sponge. It is better to use a well-sharpened pencil, but without a sharp tip, otherwise you will get too clear lines.
  3. The next step is to draw lines from the “bird” to the corners of the upper lip, exactly repeating the outlines of your own lips, if you do not aim to increase the lips with makeup or, on the contrary, reduce them.
  4. Now on the lower sponge in the center we bring a small segment.
  5. Connect the ends of the segment with the corners of the lower lip. Agree, this is much easier than if you summed up the entire lower sponge with a solid line.
  6. If you want to go without lipstick, fill the entire surface of the skin on the lips with a pencil.

If you apply a layer of matching lipstick on top, you will get a super resistant makeup that will last at least 5-6 hours. It can be like red lipstick for going out, nude shades for everyday wear, or spectacular Marsala for stylish looks. The main thing is to choose funds in tone with each other.

Create creative makeup with a contour pencil

If the makeup described above is too classic for you, but you want something “such”, you can deviate from the rule “the tone of the pencil should be close to the shade of lipstick” and make an ombre make-up or draw a contour with a contrasting color, and everything inside contour, fill with transparent gloss or bright glitter. The latter options are perhaps too bold.

Using these techniques, you should understand that the lips will become a powerful accent of the whole image. You will not only have to correctly make up your lips with a pencil, but also think through your entire image to the smallest detail in order to avoid misunderstandings of the people around you. But the ombre can be tried on without fear.

Makeup ombre pencil

Creating an ombre, you can’t do without pencils, as well as without lipstick. We offer you a diagram of the process of how to draw lips with a pencil using the ombre technique. For this you will need:

  • Light pencil - kajal.
  • Dark pencil (you can use eyeliner).
  • Concealer.
  • 2 close shades of lipstick: one lighter, the other a little darker.
  • Transparent gloss.

Ombre visually enlarges the lips, if you want to achieve an even greater push-up effect, you can pre-add volume using the Fullips simulator.

A step-by-step instruction on how to draw lips with a pencil using the ombre technique looks like this:

  1. If the skin on your lips has imperfections, to get a flawless result, first exfoliate it and moisturize it with a nourishing balm.
  2. Now we level the surface, covering the sponges with a thin layer of foundation. This technique will prevent the spreading of cosmetics.
  3. Next, you need to beautifully make up your lips with a pencil. First, we use a light kayal, repeating the outlines of your mouth to them, slightly protruding beyond the contour.
  4. Then we take a dark pencil. We need to draw a clear contour of the mouth, this technique can slightly change the shape of the lips. Ombre makeup is creative, and therefore small alterations in the shape of the lips are acceptable, moreover, they will help you to always be different.
  5. Fill in the corners of the mouth with a dark pencil.
  6. We take on lipsticks: we apply a darker shade closer to the borders, and a light one - to the mucous membrane.
  7. We cover the mouth with a transparent gloss and close-open the lips.

Now you know how to properly make up your lips with a pencil. We hope these tips will help you improve your own make-up skill level.

Basic rules for applying the right makeup

To make a beautiful make-up, it is not enough just to have a set of high-quality professional cosmetics, you need to know the basic rules for its creation and be able to apply them in practice. A neat make-up always looks spectacular, attracting the attention of others. A girl who knows the technique of applying it can easily transform, emphasizing her dignity and causing enthusiastic compliments. Despite the fact that makeup is a predominantly female art, not every lady owns it. And the presence of the most expensive and elite cosmetics does not guarantee an excellent result if you do not master the rules for its use. Knowing how to apply makeup correctly, you can look spectacular and attractive in any situation, even without having an arsenal of tubes, jars and palettes.

Makeup can be of two types - simple and complex. The first is necessary to give freshness to a woman's face, with the help of the second, skin imperfections (moles, scars) are carefully obscured. Depending on the time of day and function, make-up can be daytime (close to natural) and evening, that is, intended for a solemn exit.

Everyday makeup refers to a simple look. It is designed to mask minor imperfections, give the face freshness and emphasize its natural beauty. If the skin does not have very noticeable defects, and the facial features are harmonious, the correct daytime makeup will only enhance the natural charm of the woman, while he will be invisible. Evening "make-up" is usually complicated, requires more time and cosmetics. It allows the use of decorative elements, gloss, false eyelashes and other paraphernalia.

Regardless of the type of makeup you choose, you have to go through the same stages of applying it: toning and powdering the skin, liner eyebrows, eyes, applying blush and covering the lips with lipstick or gloss.

Preparing for the makeup process

Preparation is no less important than the process of applying cosmetics. Make-up should be applied only on clean skin. Therefore, first you need to remove the remnants of makeup, wash, wipe your face with tonic. Next, we determine the type of skin. Dry skin is important to moisturize with a day cream. In the case of oily or combination skin, apply a mattifying agent or base.

The durability and accuracy of the make-up, as well as the time spent on its creation, largely depend on this stage. It is important to pay attention to every detail, try new techniques and choose a harmonious combination of shades and textures. Practical skills will be worked out over time, and then the question of how to apply makeup correctly will no longer arise. On a cleansed and moisturized face, makeup lays down better and retains its durability longer. It is not allowed to apply new layers on the already existing "plaster". Definitely need to make-up. In general, the more the skin rests from cosmetics, the better its appearance and condition. If you have free time or during weekends, you can practice the use of face masks made by yourself or from a store assortment. The frequency of such procedures is 1-2 times a week.

Washing with water for adult skin is not enough, it must be supplemented with cosmetic cream, milk or gel. The cleansing is completed with a tonic or lotion. Care is selected depending on skin type and season. A caring agent can be a fluid cream, a nourishing or moisturizing cream, an emulsion.

How to apply foundation and foundation

Correction of problem areas and minor defects is carried out with the help of a corrector, concealer. They can "hide" dark circles under the eyes, pimples, protruding veins, pigmentation. To consolidate the camouflage effect, foundation and powder should be applied, which also provide an even complexion.

To choose the color of the foundation, it is tested: it is applied to the inside of the brush.

For oily or combination skin, you can use products with a mattifying effect that will absorb excess sebum and eliminate oily sheen.

  1. Let's make a base. Before applying the foundation, you need to prepare the skin. To do this, you need a special base under . Girls with oily or combination skin should opt for a product with a matting effect; for normal or dry skin, a nourishing, moisturizing base is suitable. Such products effectively even out the complexion, refreshing it. After applying the base, we hide circles, swelling under the eyes with the help of a corrector. Do this with the fingertips, soft patting movements.
  2. Apply foundation. It should cover the sharp boundaries of the face in order to smooth them out, making the face more “soft”, gentle. Walk along the line of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, forehead, cheeks.
  3. We apply cream. Do not make too thick a layer of tone on your face, because even the highest quality and expensive cosmetics in excess can give your face an unnatural look. Squeeze a little cream on the inside of the palm of your hand and begin to gently apply it with a brush, moving from the borders of the face to its center. Blend thoroughly all over the skin. Lightly powder the foundation layer with a soft brush - this will give the face a natural look.

When creating makeup, it is important to choose the right color for the base and foundation. Too light shades will make the face doll-like, inanimate. The dark ones are able to create an unnatural contrast with the neck and other naked parts of the body. When choosing a tone, apply it to the inside of the brush - the product should completely match the color of this area of \u200b\u200bthe hand. To correct the shape of the face, you need to use two shades of foundation - your natural and darker. The first is applied to the entire face in an even thin layer. The second is applied zonal, depending on the type of face.

Tools and cosmetics

Determining the color type of appearance, namely the shade of the skin, eyes and hair, is the next step towards flawless makeup. The right palette of shadows, blush and lipstick can embellish or completely transform the face of a woman. You can determine the gamma empirically, relying on the recommendations of professional makeup artists and your artistic taste. It is clear that for daytime makeup it is worth choosing nude and pastel shades that will not clearly stand out on the face. Bright, saturated colors, enchanting combinations, interesting textures are suitable for an evening look.

In any case, it is better to prepare the necessary cosmetics and tools in advance in order to apply everything at once and not be distracted by the search in the process of creating makeup. It is important to pay attention to the expiration date of cosmetic and decorative products and do not forget about their storage time after opening the package.

A set of sponges and brushes of different shapes and sizes will help in the difficult but interesting process of creating "make-up". Cotton pads and sticks will correct errors and remove excess makeup. And of course, at a comfortable table with good lighting and a large (preferably magnifying) mirror, it will be easier to apply makeup.

  • Owners of a square face are recommended to apply a light tone to the middle of the forehead, the tip of the chin and the area under the eyes. A dark remedy is to treat the area at the hairline, at the corners of the jaw and temples. The boundaries between transitions should be carefully shaded.
  • A round face should be covered with a light foundation, and with the help of a dark tool, visually narrow it, darkening the area of the cheeks and temples.
  • Girls with a triangular face type need to apply a light tone on the forehead, chin and under the eyes - this way you focus on the center of the face. Cover the line of the cheeks and forehead with a dark tone.
  • With an elongated type of face, it is necessary to darken the lower part of the chin - this will visually shorten the face. Do not spare blush for the cheeks, because such an accent also helps to draw attention to the middle of the face.
  • On a pear-shaped face (narrow above, full below), the forehead area, the area under the eyes and the tip of the chin should be highlighted in a light tone. A dark tone is applied to the cheeks and jaws - this visually makes them narrower.

Makeup step by step

It is important to follow the sequence of applying cosmetics generally accepted by makeup artists. In make-up, especially evening, it is recommended to focus on any one part of the face. Usually it's the eyes. It is they who give unlimited scope for the use of unexpected shades of shadows, their interesting combination with the natural color of the iris. A wave of luxurious eyelashes, a bewitching look - these epithets are not in vain used to describe attractive women.

If there is a desire to highlight seductive lips on the face, this is easy to do with the help of bright lipstick. In this case, it is right to make eye makeup natural and inconspicuous. Focusing on two or more parts of the face will make the image puppet-like or too “womanish”. Confidence and accuracy are the hallmarks of a stylish and luxurious woman.

Eye makeup is the most responsible and difficult stage.

How to apply eye makeup correctly? The first thing to consider is what type of makeup you need to do. For a daytime make-up, you should use a couple of shades of shadows and a dark brown or black pencil. With a soft movement of the pencil, shade the lash line and the mucous membrane of the upper eyelid. Visually, the eyelashes will appear thick, and the eyes will acquire an expressive beautiful shape. Apply shadows with a round applicator or brush. If you don’t know which tone suits you, you can use universal shades - gray and brown tones are considered to be them. To achieve an increase in the eyes, apply light shadows on the inside of the eye, dark ones on the outside. Matte shadows in pastel colors look natural. For evening make-up, choose mother-of-pearl warm or cold tones. The final step is to apply mascara to the eyelashes.

It usually uses tools such as:

  • base for shadows;
  • pencil or liquid eyeliner;
  • eyeshadow palette;
  • Mascara.

In the daytime version, only light shadows and mascara can be applied, or only mascara. Evening or stage makeup is unthinkable without expressive arrows and rich colors; it allows the use of false eyelashes or rhinestones. Also, a solemn image should be combined with an outfit, hairstyle and accessories.

In a complex make-up of the eyes, eyeliner is applied after the base, then the shadows are shaded. There are a variety of makeup schemes - horizontal, vertical, "bird", "smoky ice", "banana". Their use depends on the shape of the eyes, the distance between them, the shape of the eyelid. The choice of mascara is determined by the natural density and length of the eyelashes. It can be lengthening, twisting, increasing volume. Waterproof samples provide more resistant. The color of the mascara may also vary. So, brown-eyed girls are recommended to use brown shades in daytime makeup. For a festive occasion, blue, purple, green or silver mascara can come in handy. Particularly extravagant ladies pay their attention even to the color red. Some manufacturers offer "2 in 1" products, consisting of a caring serum, which further increases the thickness of the hairs, and a coloring composition.

The shade of the shadows must necessarily be combined with the color of the eyes. Green-eyed girls need to use warm colors to create. The beauty of green eyes can still be emphasized with the help of blue, gray, purple shadows. Brown eyes should be shaded with ash-gray shades, brown-beige colors. For blue eyes, shades of a cold spectrum, such as smoky, white, blue, are suitable. To achieve the desired effect when staining eyelashes, you can try several ways to apply mascara:

  • vertical, in which the brush moves vertically relative to the eyes, that is, parallel to the hairs;
  • blinking - quick strokes of eyelashes when horizontally touching them with a brush;
  • zigzags - alternating movements of the brush left-right and up-down.

One of the final steps is lip makeup.

To emphasize the natural beauty of the lips, choose light, but not very pale lipstick colors. Fresh shades are perfect for a summer make-up or light make-up for every day. Choose light coral, sheer berry, peach or pink lipstick. As a result, the lips should not look bright, but expressive. It doesn’t matter what the girl chooses - lipstick or gloss, both products are allowed to create a classic make-up. If she prefers to use lipstick to get an even layer and a clear contour, apply it with a brush.

Lips can be pre-softened with a balm and thus prepared for lipstick application. There are also special scrubs with fine exfoliating particles that gently remove the stratum corneum and chapped skin. Lip liner will emphasize, if necessary, correct their shape. Its color should match the lipstick or differ from it by several tones. A soft, well-sharpened lead will help to achieve a clear contour.

It is important to carefully paint over the lips with lipstick and capture their inner surface as much as possible so that the makeup looks beautiful and natural when talking, laughing. The first layer can be powdered or blotted with a cosmetic tissue, then another layer can be applied. So the lip makeup will become saturated and more resistant.

The shade of lipstick should be combined with the color of the shadows, skin tone. For each color type of appearance, there are recommendations for choosing cosmetics. With bright eye makeup, nude lipsticks are usually used, that is, lipsticks close to the natural color of the lips. In daytime make-up, you can limit yourself to liquid gloss or balm. Some people may like persistent lipsticks, but you should not abuse them, as they dry out the skin of the lips.

Blush - refresh the complexion

Give him a natural blush and complete the make-up. Their color is usually matched to the skin tone: pink and beige are suitable for fair-skinned, bronze or brown for dark-skinned. By changing the direction and width of strokes, you can correct the shape of the face, visually stretch it vertically or horizontally, increase or decrease the width. The optimal intensity, how to apply blush, is when they do not stand out on the face.

In this lesson I will teach you how to draw lips with a base on a triangular shape in just ten easy steps. You can reproduce different types of lip positions by making minor adjustments in the first step. This method came about by accident: I somehow compared lips to a bow and arrow.

(I regularly get messages from subscribers who have tried this method, and they are all convinced of its effectiveness. I hope it helps you too! Have fun creative process!)

For this tutorial you will need:

- a mechanical pencil with an HB core 0.5 mm thick;
- graphic pencil 6B (for example, Derwent);
- nag eraser;
- shading;
- smooth paper (for example, Bristol).

Step 1:

Draw an elongated isosceles triangle. Under the top corner, draw a curve (in the shape of a “U”). Draw a horizontal straight line between the curve and the base of the triangle. The longer the drawn line, the wider the lips will be, and vice versa: the shorter, the fuller.

“But what if I want to draw it already on the face?” See my face painting tutorial for the location of the "triangle". Here you will have to pay attention to the proportions, and they will help you calculate the length of the triangle and the width of the lips, taking into account the rest of the face.

Step 2:

Outline the upper lip, imitating the shape of Cupid's bow.

Step 3:

Draw the lower lip with a curved line that does not extend beyond the base of the triangle. Based on a horizontal line, “slightly open” the drawn mouth.

Step 4:

After you erase the triangle, define the light source. In this example, the light source is on the top right side. I've highlighted the parts I want to lighten, and I'll also put a shadow on the left side of the bottom lip.

Step 5:

Darken both lips and leave the areas that you defined as the lightest in step 4. You can see that there is a shadow under the lower lip. Toward the right side, it decreases, which shows that the light source is in the upper right corner.

Step 6:

Draw a few folds on the lips with a hard-soft pencil (0.5 mm). Don't push too hard, as you'll have difficulty with the next step.

Step 7:

Smooth out the darkening on the lower lip with a blender. Don't touch the highlights from step 4. The highlights will make the lips look fuller and rounder. You may also notice that the lip lines become thinner in the shade, but do not disappear completely.

Step 8:

Go over the sharpest corner of the eraser over the highlights and give the highlights a neater look with a glare effect.

Step 9:

Do the operations from steps 7-8 with the upper lip.

Last step:

Intensify the shadows in areas such as the outer edges of the lips, above the upper lip, the creases and corners of the lips (6B pencil).

You can change the size of the lips by moving the horizontal line up (for a thinner upper lip) or down (for a fuller upper lip). Also add a highlight with an eraser to make the lips look even more voluminous.

Do you have any questions? Leave them in the comments below the article! Don't be discouraged if you don't get what you want on the first try. Keep working, and take each step apart. Work will become much easier! Also don't forget to experiment with different triangle shapes and line positions in step 2.

Translation of an article from rapidfireart.com.

In the drawing of the lips, as well as in the drawing of the nose or eyes, contours should not be drawn. The shape of the lips is voluminous. It's not just a contour. Therefore, for those who want to learn how to draw a portrait, the diagram below will be useful. In it, the lips are depicted in a simplified way, in the form of geometric shapes. Such a schematic image helps to see the structure and plasticity. For example, the lower lip consists, as it were, of two ovals. And the upper one is divided in the middle by a tubercle.

In this drawing, it is also important to see how the shape of the lips smoothly passes into the chin, cheeks, and nose. All these forms are bent and illuminated by light. Something is in the shade, something in the penumbra, and something in the light. The upper lip, hanging over the lower, most often turns out to be in the shade. And the lower lip, speaking, as a rule, is turned to the light. Between the lower lip and chin is a depression, which is most often immersed in the shadow. What will be in the light and what will be in the shadow depends on the location of the light source. For example, if the light is directed not from top to bottom, but from bottom to top, then the picture will be exactly the opposite.

In addition to the above, you still need to understand that the lip line is not straight. She repeats the circumference of the head. For clarity, I drew two options: one is correct and the other is incorrect. It follows that the entire shape of the lips will be subject to this rule.

Next, I completed a step-by-step classic lip drawing. At the first stage, a light linear drawing is laid, revealing the main planes and faces. At the second stage, the shadow sides are worked out with light shading. At the final third stage, all the details are honed and all the halftones are worked out in more detail. In the tone pattern of the lips, it is important to convey lighting and volume. As in the drawing of a plaster ball in the drawing of the lips, it is also necessary to convey light, penumbra, shadow, reflex, falling shadow.

Despite its simplicity, drawing lips is not at all easy. For some, this is generally the most difficult part of the face. That is why today we will learn how to draw lips.

You may not succeed right away, don't worry. Practice more often and very soon you will learn how to draw beautiful lips.

How to draw lips for beginners

So, prepare a pencil and paper, let's learn to draw!

Stage 1
Let's start drawing with sharp geometric shapes, which at first will not look like lips at all. So, we draw three straight parallel lines.

Stage 2
We connect these lines and get a polygon. From it we will grow our lips.

Perhaps if you draw a robot, then these will suit you :)

Stage 3
Draw lines inside this polygon. Roughly speaking, in the lower part we draw one rounded strip, and in the upper part we should get a strip in the form of a bird flying far, far away.

Stage 4
We erase our auxiliary polygon and depict the "bumps".

Stage 5
We have everything ready, but it is necessary to apply shadows, otherwise the drawing will turn out to be implausible.

The line between the top and bottom should be as dark as possible, since the least amount of light gets there. Gently shade the upper and lower lip.

stage 6
We smear our hatching with a finger or a rag, do it carefully so as not to spoil the drawing.

Since the lips are not perfectly smooth, we will draw small cracks with a dark pencil.

How to draw lips step by step

This example will be a little more difficult than the previous one, but you can still handle it. If something does not work out, then redraw the drawing until you are satisfied with the result.

So, we depict a triangle, a rounded line at the top, a parallel line divides the triangle almost in the middle. Surprisingly, it will help us depict beautiful lips.

We depict something similar to an onion. Although, you may see something different in these figures ...

We represent the lower part in a semicircle. Let's make a slightly open mouth by depicting a gap between the upper and lower parts.

Helpful information:
The upper lip and lower lip are not necessarily symmetrical in size. Some people have a larger top, some have a lower one, and some have the same.

We erase the triangle, it has fulfilled its purpose and we no longer need it. With a light touch on the pencil, we draw the contours of highlights.

We shade everything that did not fall into the contours of highlights.

So, the most difficult part begins - chiaroscuro. Of course, it is not necessary to try to impose realistic shadows. In some drawings, it will even look out of place.

Nevertheless, we paint over everything in about the same tone.

We depict cracks, they must necessarily follow the shape of the lips.

We are working on the bottom.

And now we are working on the top part.

We detail the upper part and our drawing is ready.

By focusing on the lips, you can get cool drawings.

A couple of important points with an open mouth

In the previous example, the mouth is open and the gap is white, not painted over. This is done for ease of understanding for beginners, but this is wrong.

The gap should be dark or the tongue should stick out of it.
Also, don't forget your teeth. And most importantly, do not forget that a shadow falls on them too.

Video lessons

Usually we insert video tutorials at the very end of the article, but this topic seemed too complicated for us to study and decided to insert them right in the middle of the article.

Be sure to check them out as they talk about things that weren't covered in our article.

in profile

In profile, drawing a mouth is much easier. Yes, and the face to portray from the side will be easier.

Let's draw in just five steps:

1. Simple strip with hooks to the top.
2. From this line we get a crooked heart.
3. Finalizing our crooked heart
4. Color bright red
5. Apply highlights

Also, you can take a look at the "ideal" example:

Basic principles when drawing lips

As we said earlier, the mouth can be very different: the upper part is more plump than the lower one or vice versa, or the same, very thin, very plump, etc. In general, there are many options.

Below is a standard example, in which the places that stick out forward are marked with an oval.

So, let's look at the basic principles in the picture below:

  • - Between the nose and the upper part there is always a small depression, and almost always it is darkened
  • - The left and right ledges are much lighter relative to this depression.
  • - One ledge can be lighter than the other, depending on the direction of the light
  • - Almost always there are cracks or folds
  • - A hole with a shadow forms under the lower lip

You will understand the rest of the principles yourself if you study this picture. Of course, it is best to study the mouth on a real example: a living person or a statue.
