Continuing the coloring theme, today I will talk about Silwerhof Metallic pencils 12 colors. Pencils were purchased at a local non-chain store "Fanazery" for 138.6 rubles, out of pure curiosity. I planned to use them in coloring books, but I haven’t figured out where and how yet. Well, actually, about pencils.

Information on the package:

set: 12 colors; colors with "Metallic" effect; soft lead; look more effective on dark paper; round body made of natural wood; multi-layer painting of the body; easy sharpening. The product is intended for drawing on paper and cardboard. Safe when used as directed. Requires special storage conditions.

Made in China

Package. The pencils are packed in a colorful cardboard box with flaps on both sides, with a euro hanger. The box has a hole through which the bodies of some pencils are visible.

Frame. The cases of the pencils are wooden, and the wood is black, and painted in the color of the lead, with mother-of-pearl paint. They look very stylish. The shape of the case is round, which is not very convenient - pencils roll off the table. To hold in my hand, in principle, it is convenient. Also, the name of the brand and the brand of pencils are inscribed in gold on the case.

sharpening. Pencils are sharpened perfectly with an ordinary sharpener (I have a plastic Maped), the body and lead do not crumble or break, there are no hard inclusions in the body that make sharpening difficult.

Colors. There are 12 colors in the set: there are gold, silver, green, blue and cyan, black, purple, copper, etc. Of course, such a set cannot be used as the main one, but only as an addition to the existing colors.

The quality of writing. The leads are quite soft, but dryish, they write with noticeable gaps, on white paper the metallic effect is practically not noticeable (I haven’t tried it on black paper yet, I don’t have it). There are small sparkles in the stylus, and if you look closely and in certain lighting, they are visible. And so the most ordinary children's pencils.

TOTAL. Pencils can be called "metallic" with a big stretch. For a change and for the sake of fun, you can try pampering. They are probably good for coloring, for example, jewelry. But, in general, the purchase was useless.

A couple of months ago, I accidentally bought metallic colored pencils at Fix Price. After a few drawings, I realized that such pencils are not only suitable for children, so I bought several more sets of similar pencils from different manufacturers, in addition to the first " Kid's fantasy"I found 3 more brands of pencils in Moscow "Fancy" by Action, "Pretty Girls" door Brauberg, And "Metallic" by Krasin, their comparison and my review will be devoted. I saw Derwent Metallic professional pencils for sale, but they are unrealistically expensive, so I decided to do without them.

It should be noted right away that all the compared pencils, called metallic, are not, they do not have any metallic sheen that can be seen in metallic acrylic paints, rather a slight mother-of-pearl tint, which, together with the muted scale of the lead, creates a rather interesting effect.
It is believed that mother-of-pearl shine is best seen on black paper, so I made a coloring (color test) on white landscape paper, on which I draw myself (photo above) and on black (photo below). You yourself will be able to judge the colors and tones by the coloring, so I will not evaluate the color scheme. On the drawings, the radius is circled 3 times with pressure, closer to the center in 1 layer without pressure.

I will start the review of pencils with the very first ones I bought.

"Kid`s fantasy" pencils from Fix Price store.

The pencils are made by a Chinese company in China, the price is 55 rubles per package with 6 metallic pencils and 6 two-color ones. Advantages: the color scheme is quite successful, very cheap, the prevalence of a chain of stores.
Disadvantages: the stylus varies in hardness, in some places medium hardness, but mostly hard, after several hours of drawing, the hand just hurts. The stylus breaks terribly, both when sharpening and when drawing, in addition, the stylus also crumbles, this can be seen in the photo. Actually, after suffering with these pencils, I decided to buy others.

Colored pencils "Brauberg. Pretty Girls", 12 colors, ebony, metallic.

Pencils of a German company made in China in a set of 12 colors were bought in the Ukazka online store for 131 rubles. Advantages: soft, but not completely, there are bright colors, good selection of colors.
Disadvantages: the hardness of the lead is not uniform, it crumbles a little when drawing. Poor quality lacquer with chips. 1 pencil has a full length longitudinal crack. And 1 pencil - yellow is not metallic at all, but an ordinary color, which I consider complete disgusting, since ordinary pencils are much cheaper!
Brauberg pencils are also crooked, in the photo at the end of the post it will be seen that the pencil bashfully arched, showing the unevenness of its body, but hiding the name of the company, it was not possible to lay it so that the inscription was visible.

Set of colored pencils "Metallic. Fancy", 12 colors

Another 1 pencil of a German company, made in China, was bought in the same online store for 144 rubles. Advantages: the stylus is homogeneous, soft.
Disadvantages: the lead of 2 pencils crumbles, on the body of 1 there is a small, shallow crack, the colors are poorly matched.

The only pencils made in Russia come from the old Krasin factory in Moscow.
Since I couldn’t find them in stores, I bought pencils directly at the factory, so there are a lot, so I ended up with 2 different series: round "Panda and Friends" and hexagonal "Planet of Animals", in fact, the differences end on the shape and method of coloring the pencil. The price is about 30 rubles for a set of 6 pencils, this is wholesale, in online stores outside Moscow the price for a set is from 40 to 70. As I was told at the factory, there were metallic sets of 12 pencils, but they are no longer produced, unfortunately, with due to lack of demand: (And the stores are clogged with imports, which are more expensive and worse ..... Advantages: soft, uniform mixing of the lead, low price, choice of 2 sections, the end is neatly processed, and in general the pencils are beautiful, below you will understand why I am writing this.
Cons: The only pencils I can't (yet) find fault with. Except that the color scheme is not optimal, it is dark, and the color of the pencil shell does not match the color of the lead line, but some pencils above have the same problem, and in general a perfect match is hardly possible.

additional notes on quality.

I didn’t plan to test the blurriness, but accidentally dripped onto a sheet of paint on white paper, the pigment from Brauberg spread almost like a watercolor, although it shouldn’t, and only 1 ... after which I tried to blur the others, a little blurred 2 colors of pencils from Fix price, the rest of the pigments withstood contact with water.

In the sets of all manufacturers, individual pencils sometimes left lumps when drawing, this can be seen on the paint, the lines were not perfectly even, there were also pieces of different pigmentation. Since only children's pencils and hobby line pencils, and not artistic ones, participated in the review, I considered this drawback to be insignificant, because one cannot demand professional high quality for such a low price.

Set of pencils FixPrice are not recommended for children because of their hardness, the hand gets very tired, and taking into account the pathological fragility of the rod, I don’t advise it, although maybe I just got unlucky and got a package with broken cords.

I have not used the last 3 sets of pencils for drawing yet, I just tested it, so the issue of sharpening is open, if there are problems, I will add later.
First impressions:
Brauberg- not a very successful purchase, poor quality of the pencil shell: crooked, cracked, not turned smoothly, the lead is a little better, but replacing a metallic pencil with a regular one is just a scam, I could not even imagine this.
Pencils Fancy turned out to be faded, the colors are very similar, but the quality is normal, they suit me, the purchase did not disappoint.
Factory kits Krasin they stand out for their excellent workmanship, they are pleasant to hold in hands, and although the colors are not very good, I am still satisfied with them and can safely recommend them for purchase.

Since I personally visited the Krasin factory, I highly recommend that parents of drawing children living in Moscow, people who love anti-stress coloring, and in general everyone who likes to draw, write to the sales department [email protected] or directly to the Executive Director Rodina Marina [email protected] request with your wishes. Krasin's website has not been updated for a long time, half of the assortment is not for sale, but there are new positions - watercolor, trihedral super-soft jumbo, solid graphite and even woodless colored pencils, which are just entering artistic fashion (I will probably write 1 more review about them) and a lot of interesting things, and at wholesale prices. You need to order pencils in advance by mail, since the office does not have the entire range, you can pay by card according to the details, and pick up 10 minutes from the Varshavskaya metro station.

Bottom line: metallic pencils are a good buy for creativity, they are suitable for both children and adult coloring books, or to diversify drawings with ordinary colored pencils, change the style, because due to the limited and rather specific color range, metallics allow you to create unusual drawings.
