When Chester Bennington died. Everything is rock and roll

01.07.2019

Born March 20, 1976 in Phoenix (USA, Arizona). He had a stormy childhood, at school, according to Chester, he was one of the most reckless kids. But it so happened that his parents divorced and Chester fell on hard times. He kept running away from home, started smoking, drinking, finally gave up sports and began a wild life. But later adopted. He also has an older brother, whose name is Brian (now the organizer and leader of the Linkin Park Underground fan club)

In the past, Chester was very into hip-hop and later became a Depeche Mode and Stone Temple Pistols fan. In his dreams, he saw one of the members of Depeche Mode, but still he did not delve into this topic and, together with his friend Sean, organized the group "Sean Dowdell and Friends" in which Chester was the lead singer and one of the leaders. To the deepest regret, at the moment there are only three songs of this group, these are: - "Kill The Flies", "Painted Pictures", "God" s Afraid ". At that time, this group was almost no different from its counterparts, it's all the same the same guitar-scream version of the songs, which is fundamentally different from the style of Linkin Park. That's probably why the group ceased to exist. But a little later, Chester, along with Sean, took part in a group of the same local spill called Gray Daze. This group lasted much longer her predecessors and managed to record two albums, these are "No Sun ToDay" and "Wake Me". It seemed that everything was successful and the group could safely continue to exist, but the problem with the group was that more than one label did not want to sign a contract with it , which later led the group to collapse and the guys fled.

On October 31, 1996, Chester married Samantha. A little later, Samantha gave birth to a child, or rather a boy, whose name is Draven Sebastian (Draven Sebastian).

In 1999, on Chester's birthday, when he was in the circle of his family, on a tip from his agent Jeff Blue, the guys from Xero called him and asked him to sing what he managed to write during that time, after an audio cassette came to him with demo records of Xero. This cassette came to Chester earlier, after Xero's lead singer Mike Wakefield left, who felt that the group had no future. Well, in general, Chester sang his recitation right on the phone and the guys were simply dumbfounded by Chester's talent, where later they invited him to their place for additional auditions. At this very moment, Chester had to make the hardest choice - either stay in Phoenix and live part-time in eateries, or cross the whole country for an audition in Los Angeles, which would give him a chance to show what he is capable of. But here Chester, together with Samantha, decided to use this chance all the same and went to the audition. After arriving at the place, they were not as sweet as they wanted. They spent the night in the car in order to wait for the audition. That decisive moment finally came and Chester showed how he can "ignite". After he performed at this audition, the other candidates immediately withdrew their candidacies, realizing that they would not be able to compete with Chester, that his punchy vocals were unique. Finally, the moment came when the group, together with Chester, began to exist ...

After the arrival of Chester, Xero decided to rebrand themselves as Hybrid Theory, as that name suited them best. But after claims from another group with the same name, the guys had to change their name to Linkin Park.

In 2005, Chester's wife Samantha filed for divorce. But Chester did not get lost and later married Talinda Bentley, who later bore him a boy.

Over time, Chester began to inject himself with various tattoos. One of his first tattoos was a wedding ring - during his wedding with Samantha.

Chester is such a "bright spot" for the band. His vocals are so strong and emotionally expressed that during his singing it is clear that he sings from the heart and is so sincere that it gives people positive emotions. Through his lyrics, Chester unloads from himself all the bad things that he experienced earlier, and this is the divorce of his parents, frequent drinking ... So in the songs that he writes together with the rest of the LP members, he has repeatedly put his meaning, which he conveys to all of us, this is what has taught many people to get on the right path in life, and this is what has made and still makes him the idol of millions from all over the world. Those who at least in some way try to imitate one of the shrill musicians.

Chester Charles Bennington is an American musician best known as the vocalist of Linkin Park. Winner of two Grammy awards.

Hard childhood

The future musician was born on March 20, 1976 in the city of Phoenix, located in the US state of Arizona. His father was a child abuse cop and his mother was a nurse. Chester's passion for music began at an early age; his first idols were Depeche Mode and Stone Temple Pilots.

The boy's parents divorced shortly after he was 11 years old. Chester took this news very hard, began to appear less often at school and became addicted to drugs. In a somewhat frightening coincidence, Bennington's story largely repeats the biography of musician Chris Cornell, his close friend, who was also worried about his parents' divorce and was addicted to cocaine, and in 2017 he hanged himself.

Studying at a regular high school (first in Phoenix, then in Washington, where he and his mother moved after a divorce), Chester abused marijuana, alcohol and LSD. Being thin and strange, according to peers, teenagers, he was often subjected to physical violence: “I was beaten like a rag doll because I was skinny and different from others.”

In one of the interviews, the musician admitted that at the age of 7 he was raped by a friend who was several years older than him. This continued until he was 13. Chester did not seek help because he was afraid that he would be called gay or, worse, not be believed. Later, he nevertheless revealed the name of the offender to his father, but insisted that he not make the case public.

The tense atmosphere at home and constant bullying drove the young man crazy. He felt that a little more - and he would kill someone and start running. To cope with emotions, he began to draw and write poetry. Many of them later formed the basis of the songs of the world famous group.

When Bennington was seventeen, his mother caught him using drugs and he left home. To pay the rent for his new home, he took a job at Burger King, a fast food restaurant.

Passion for music. Birth of Linkin Park

Despite his drug problems, Bennington never forgot his childhood dream of becoming a rock star. In 1993, he became the vocalist of the group Gray Daze, which after a while became quite popular in Phoenix. However, Bennington felt out of place in it and decided to leave the group in the late 90s due to creative differences.

In 1996, Chester moved to Los Angeles, where he joined the Xero rock band founded by Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson. Shortly after Bennington became the band's primary vocalist, it was renamed "Hybrid Theory". However, aspiring musicians had problems with the Hybrid team, who accused them of plagiarism.

Evolution of Linkin Park (1996 - 2017)

It was Chester who came up with a different name - "Lincoln Park" (in honor of the park of the same name in Santa Monica, which he often visited), but due to the fact that the corresponding domain was occupied, the group became known as "Linkin Park".

worldwide popularity

After repeated rejections from various studios and the emergence of a rather impressive fan base, the musicians of Linkin Park still managed to sign a contract with Warner Bros and release their debut album Hybrid Theory in 2000. It was a huge success and received the status of a multi-platinum record, as well as the title of the best-selling debut album of the decade.

The band's unique style, which combined rock, rap and electronic music, made Linkin Park one of the most popular acts of the new millennium. Chester Bennington's piercing vocals have become the hallmark of the group.

Linkin Park

Outside of Linkin Park, Bennington worked on the side project Dead by Sunrise (founded in 2005) with musicians Amir Derakh and Ryan Shaq. The band's first album, Out Of Ashes, was released in 2009.

In 2013, the vocalist left the band Stone Temple Pilots, of which Chester had been a fan since childhood. The musicians invited Bennington to take his place. He performed with his idols for half a year, performing their old songs in his signature style. He also participated in the recording of their new album "High Rise".

Chester Bennington in movies

In 2006, the musician appeared with a cameo (played himself) in the film Adrenaline with Jason Statham, and in 2009 in its sequel. In the first part, he played a visitor to a pharmacy; in the second part, he can be seen among the spectators at the hippodrome.

In the horror film "Saw 3D" (2010), he played the unsuccessful racist Evan, who, along with his friend and girlfriend, was waiting for death in a scrap yard.

Personal life of Chester Bennington

From 1994 to 1995, Chester Bennington, yesterday's schoolboy, dated a girl named Yelka Brand. After the breakup, she gave birth to a son, Jamie (born 1996), from a musician. In 2006, he adopted her youngest son, Isaiah.

In October 1996, he married Samantha Olit. It was that ill-fated period when Chester worked at Burger King and lived on miserable pennies. The newlyweds did not have money for wedding rings, and they had to tattoo them on their ring fingers.

In 2002, the couple had a son, Draven. Three years later, the couple broke up - the relationship, which was tested by Chester's poverty and drug addiction, could not stand the fame that quickly fell on the musician. The couple constantly quarreled, but the last straw was Bennington's relationship with Playboy model Talinda Bentley. After meeting her, he approached Samantha and directly asked for a divorce.

In 2005, six months after the divorce, the musician married Talinda, who bore him three children: son Tyler (born in 2006) and twins Lily and Lila (born in 2011).

Although the musician overcame drug addiction, one addiction was replaced by another - he began to abuse alcohol. In 2011, he quit, stating that he could not stand the man he had become.

Death of Chester Bennington

On July 20, 2017, it became known that Chester Bennington hanged himself - on the 53rd birthday of his friend Chris Cornell, lead singer of Soundgarden, who committed suicide two months earlier. Chester was found at his home in Los Angeles. "It's shocking, heartbreaking, but it's true," Mike Shinoda tweeted. After 9 days, the musician was buried in California, in the South Coast Botanic Garden.

Chester Charles Bennington (Chester Charles Bennington) - vocalist of the band Linkin Park, was born March 20, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona. Now lives in Los Angeles. He studied at Greenway High School, but later moved to Washington and already there he began to study at Washington High School, from which he graduated in 1994. Chester says he was a complete jerk at school, used cocaine and was sexually assaulted. He has been married to Samantha since October 31, 1996, when he was 20 years old. Chester congratulated Samantha on their 4th wedding anniversary while performing at a show in Hollywood. They designed several pieces for Replicant Clothes, a company owned by Head (KoRn) and Ryan Shuck (Orgy). Has a son from her - Draven Sebastian who was born on April 19, 2002. By nationality, Chester is an American, he has an older brother. Thanks to him (who is 13 years older than Chester), he was influenced by bands like Loverboy, Foreigner and Rush. Brother taught Chester to sing "Hot Blooded" when he was 2, taught him to speak and videotaped him doing it. This tape is still preserved, although Chester says it is lost. He told Draven about it because he couldn't find anything suitable to say in response and was surprised that everyone knew and asked about it. Chester has a lot of tattoos, only 14 pieces. The first one was made at the age of 18, the last one was inked in 2006. They cause a lot of pain. It keeps me simple, it reminds me that I'm vulnerable and that the pain is bearable Chester says. He has his own tattoo parlor, which he opened with Samantha. Chester's hair was dyed white, black, brown, red, pink, purple, etc. His hair style was also constantly changing. He was curly, spiked, he put horns on himself, a mohawk, shaved off his sides and shaved almost baldly. In 1991, he founded the rock band Gray Daze, in which he himself was the vocalist, it lasted until 1993. Chester was frustrated that while he was writing the lyrics, the rest of the band was taking out a bank loan. Their songs were played on local radio stations, they recorded 2 discs, but they never signed a single contract, and Chester left, now Gray Daze has a new vocalist (this time it's a girl), and they changed their name to Waterface. She gave him a big push on the way to a future career. As a child, Chester's idols were Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) and Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Chaz does not miss a single Madonna album. He saw them for the first time when he was 14. When Chester was little, he constantly sang in the house, he sleepwalked and in his dreams he saw himself as the fifth member of Depeche Mode. Chester's favorite albums are Black Celebration, Purple, Zeppelin #4. From the age of 10 to 14, Chester liked both hip-hop and such representatives as Sugarhill Gang and Slick Rick, but at his core, as he says, he is a rocker. Chester's first instrument is the piano. Chester will never part with his guitar. He has his own views on religion, which he doesn't want to talk about. Chester smokes.
Once at the end of one of the shows, Chester got sick and threw up on himself and a few fans (fans didn't bathe for a year after that =)). Chester needs glasses but takes them off on stage. Without them, he sees almost nothing in front of him. Chester was once driving down a snowy road down a cliff and drove into a brick wall. Then he was given 47 stitches. For the first fee received from the concert, Chester made a pointless repair of his SUV, namely: polished it so that it shone brighter than the sun.
Chester has a couple of friends who committed suicide as soon as they grew up. Chester: "I also lost a friend in a skateboarding accident. He skateboarded down a small hill, hit a cobblestone, hit his head on the right and it was over. It can happen to you a million times at a young age, you fall and you hit your head - he just hit the wrong place." The fan's strangest request for Chester was to give him (the fan) his clothes. Chester's most risky move was to join the Linkin Park Band. the band was not originally promised such a career. Chester is a big fan of good beer. If Chester could repeal one law, it would be the legalization of marijuana. If Chester wasn't a musician now, he would be, as he says, "An ordinary American doing ordinary American things."
At airports, Chester removes all metal, sharp things, bracelets, etc., and he has a small bag or something to store them in. They must be in a certain place every time. Chester's favorite movie is Fight Club. Chester loves to cook. Chester has read Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" and "Hannibal", which he calls "an amazing book" and enjoys it a lot. Chester sticks out from the game "Tony Hawk 2". Chester is a fan of the Phoenix Cardinals football team. Mr. Bennington has made several radio ads for someone called CAPP who helps horny boys.
In 1994, Mike Shinoda sent Chester a demo tape and offered to record his vocals to the proposed music. Chester stopped drinking with the guests and began to record his ingenious vocals, which he had learned in the past. When he was done, he called Mike and put the receiver on the tape recorder. Mike, Brad, Joe and Rob were absolutely delighted with the recording. The next day, Chester flew to Los Angeles and became a member of the well-known band Linkin Park.
Chester is most proud of the singles "In The End" - Hybrid Theory, and from Meteora - "Breaking The Habit" and "Numb". Chester says that a real song is a song that can stand the test of time, you can listen to 20 years in a row, a song that your children's children will listen to. Chester's favorite musical memory is playing in Atlanta, there were 21,000 people, and when Chaz got on stage, all he saw was a sea of heads. I don't like to tell everyone what my songs are about because it prevents people from finding their feelings in the song, he says When someone explains what their music is about, it frustrates me because I usually it has a completely different meaning
Chester has his own line of clothing called "Vecel", in his fashionable and stylish clothes he has been performing since mid-2007.
Chester is currently working on his debut solo album, which was supposed to be released in early 2006 but was pushed back and is still going on...
Here's what Chester himself says about this: "We took 90s rock and 80s pop music like Depeche Mode, The Cure and Bauhaus and mixed them together. It turned out cool - killer beats and walls of a guitar sound."
Bennington's "Dead By Sunrise" project is being produced by Orgy band members Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck. The titles of the album's songs are already known: "Morning After" and "Walking in Circles". "Morning After" was performed by Chester at the Linkin Park concerts in 2001-2002.

Chester is the most colorful type, the receptacle of an incredible number of vices and virtues, he is a real Madonna in rock. You might think that Bennington has no idea about PR. But, if you take a closer look, it seems that everything that happens to him is a pure accident, but an accident well arranged. He, without a bit of hesitation, gets used to the image of decent family men built by the group, at the same time, managing to be a little drunkard, and a caring father, and a daredevil, and a loving husband, and an intelligent businessman, and, if you like, a martyr with authority. All this causes invariably a crazy resonance in the media. On the question of what kind of inscription on the tombstone he would like, he replied --- "A loving father and husband are buried here."

In 2009 the first single and video "Crawl Back In" from the new album "Out of Ashes" was released.

On Thursday, July 20, 2017, around 9 a.m., Los Angeles law enforcement received a call announcing the artist's death.

Brian Elias, Los Angeles County Investigator, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter the sad news: Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has died. He was 41 years old.

The investigator said that everything happened in the house of the artist in the estates of Palos Verdes. The police assume it was a suicide. Details of the case will be available after investigators return from the scene. Neither the coroner nor the Los Angeles Fire Department can confirm whether it was a hanging or not.

Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda tweeted, "Shocked and heartbroken but true. An official report will follow as soon as it's ready." Another Linkin Park member, the band's bassist, Phoenix wrote "Heartbroken".

The sad news spread throughout the media, which began to write about Chester Bennington's drug addiction as the reason for suicide. But fans who follow the band know that Chester has long since overcome his addiction and has recently been trying to keep himself in shape and playing sports.

The TMZ portal, which was the first to publish news about the death of the lead singer of Linkin Park, reports that according to police information, Chester was at home alone at the time of the suicide. “We were told that his family was out of town at the time, the housekeeper found him on the second floor.”

The news of Bennington's suicide came as a shock to all members of the group, because a few hours after he was found dead in the house (the body was found at 9 am local time), they were supposed to have a photo session. Another TMZ source said that one of the members of his group was seen in Chester's house. He said that he was going to give Chester a lift for a photo shoot and was just shocked. The name is not reported.

A week later, Linkin Park was planning to go on tour, and this fact makes the suicide even more shocking. Most likely, Chester's mental state was affected by the suicide of his close friend Chris Cornell, who would have turned 53 today.

Literally a few hours before Chester's death, Linkin Park's new music video for the track "Talking To Myself" premiered.

The head of Linkin Park's label Warner Brothers, said: "Chester Bennington was a musician of extraordinary talent and charisma, and a man of great heart and soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family, band and friends. All of us at Warner Brothers Records unite with the millions of gj dctve fans around the world and say, "We love you Chester and you will forever be in our hearts."

Bennington, a native of Phoenix, has repeatedly spoken about his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, which he led at different stages of his life.

The band had just released their seventh studio album, One More Light, and a North American tour was already planned for this summer and fall.

Linkin Park was one of the most popular rock bands to emerge in the early 2000s. According to Nielsen SoundScan, since the release of their debut album "Hybrid Theory" in 2000, they have sold over 10 million copies in the US alone.

On May 26 this year, Bennington performed Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" at a memorial service for Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) in Los Angeles, who died by suicide. Days earlier, in a note posted online, Bennington had written a song for his friend Cornell, saying, "I can't imagine a world without you. I pray that you find peace in your next life."

Bennington passed away, leaving his wife, Ann Talinda Bentley, and six children.

Update:

In the account of Chester Bennington's wife, strange messages were later deleted: "I never really loved him and I was not hacked, I was just in love with his money, it hurts to say it." Later appeared: "I pushed him to commit suicide, saying that no one cares." As it turned out later, the account was hacked.

Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington has become a real idol for millions of rock lovers.

Chester Bennington became famous thanks to the music group Linkin Park. As a soloist, he was able to become an icon for many rock lovers.

Chester's childhood cannot be called happy. The boy was born in 1976. His father was a policeman, and his mother was a nurse. The couple had 4 children, but when Chester was 11 years old, the couple broke up and divided the children. Chester and his one sister stayed with their father. Such a tragedy led to the fact that Chester began to communicate with a dubious company where alcohol and drugs were present.

At the same time, the teenager often quarreled with his father, which made the boy's life even more unbearable. Drinking alcohol and talking with people like him, Chester wanted to distract himself from his problems, or maybe attract the attention of his parents to himself. A hectic lifestyle led to the fact that several of his friends did not even live to adulthood, committing suicide or dying from an accident.

Strongly affected the psyche of Chester sexual harassment by a friend of their family. School also did not bring him joy. Therefore, at the age of 11, as Bennington himself said, he began to smoke marijuana.

Beginning of musical life

When the guy graduated from high school, he began to earn money in a coffee shop. In parallel, Chester began to devote a lot of time to music. A pleasant job and a favorite thing helped him cope with a mass of negative thoughts and memories.

Chester first tried his musical talent through the piano, but later began to change the instruments and playing style. In the end, he settled on rock music and in 1993 became the vocalist of the group Gray Daze. However, Chester only lasted 5 years in the team. He was not satisfied with frequent quarrels and, having released 2 albums, Bennington left Gray Daze. He was replaced by Jody Wendt.

Chester had a love for tattoos, so in addition to music, he also opened a tattoo parlor with Sean Dowdell. There are many tattoos on the singer's body, which Chester himself is truly proud of.

Linkin Park - Together to the End

The group Xero posted an ad that they are looking for a vocalist. When the group listened to Chester's song on the phone, they invited him to a casting in Los Angeles. The talent and special charisma of Bennington struck the band members and they took him as a vocalist.

With the change in the team, it was decided to change the name of the group and the choice fell on Hybrid Theory. However, later it became known that this brand belongs to another group. But the world managed to see one album of the group called Hybrid Theory. During this time, the guys attracted attention to themselves and were able to sign a contract with Warner Brothers Records.

Chester later suggested calling the group Linkoln Park, but they had to settle on Linkin Park to create a web page. The first album, which was released under this name of the group in 2000, received incredible popularity. Therefore, for the next 2 years, the musicians simply created remixes for this album.

In 2003, an album called Meteora was released. Mike Shinoda worked on one song, which described all the difficulties of Chester's life. It tells about the unbearable pain from a difficult childhood and the struggle with personal addictions. And only music helps Bennington.

In the future, the group began to perform songs in different styles. But Chester's voice has always made me want to listen to all the band's songs, regardless of genre.

Bennington can be seen in several films. The most popular was the horror picture "Saw". There Chester played the victim of a maniac. But success in cinema or music did not help him cope with alcohol addiction. Because only a drunk glass helped a man forget the horror of childhood.

Personal life

In 1996, when Bennington was 20 years old, he connected his life with Samantha. At that time, the guy was poor, so the couple made wedding rings in a tattoo parlor: tattooed in the form of rings on their fingers. Six years later, Chester's first child, Draven, was born. However, after 3 years, in 2005, the couple decided to divorce, and the son stayed with his mother.

The man did not suffer for a long time and at the end of 2005 joined his life with model Talinda Bentley. Their family began to grow rapidly: in 2006, the son Tyler Lee was born, in 2011 - the twins Lily and Lila. But the couple did not stop at three and took two more foster boys - Isaiah and Jamie.

Cause of death

July 20, 2017 was a dark day for many. Chester's body was found at his home in California. The police said that the musician committed suicide by hanging himself. Perhaps Chester's addiction to alcohol, which he was never able to overcome, pushed such a desperate step.

On the same day, a video for the song Talking to Myself (2017) was released on Youtube on the official channel of the group.
