Direct fire from GUM to La Scala theater

GUM is not just the main department store, but one of the historical symbols of Moscow along with the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theatre. It is impossible to visit Red Square and not visit GUM. The beautiful building, designed by architect Pomerantsev and featuring a unique glass roof designed by engineer Shukhov, was flooded in Soviet times with crowds of buyers and endless lines for shortages. Today you can walk around GUMU like a museum of expensive things - very beautiful. Ordinary people can also join - they don’t take money for a review and demand. In addition, the vast territory of the main trading city is full of cute cafes, and at every step there is the famous multi-colored ice cream. Thanks to Mikhail Kusnirovich, the head of Bosco di Ciliegi, who became the main shareholder of the GUM Trading House in 2005, the store has long hosted exhibitions and various interesting events of the Cherry Forest Open Festival, and this is another reason to visit the good old GUM on Red Square ...

On May 23, the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and GUM signed an agreement, according to which GUM became a long-term partner of the Bolshoi Theater and the general sponsor of the autumn tour of the La Scala Theater in Moscow.

Enlightened Russian patrons have always been indifferent to theatrical art. In 2003, Mikhail Kusnirovich returned to the Bolshoi Theater to carry out the most fantastic joint projects. Interestingly, the career of one of the largest entrepreneurs in Russia began precisely in the Bolshoi, where in the second half of the eightieshe served as a janitor.Mikhail Ernestovich is so proud of his first entry in the work book that he did not miss the opportunity to show his temporary pass of those years. After that, Vladimir Urin, the general director of the Bolshoi Theater, had no choice but to promise everyone that he would issue a new pass to Mikhail Kusnirovich.

So, a multi-year partnership agreement was signed with the Bolshoi Theater, and the head of the Bosco di Ciliegi group of companies emphasized: “There are two iconic institutions on the territory of our capital. Big theater -our most iconic global brand and GUM - the main store of the country ... ".

The beginning of cooperation was marked by a bright event in the cultural life of the two countries. As part of the Cherry Forest Open Arts Festival, with the assistance of the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Russia and personally Ambassador Cesare Maria Ragaglini, the world-famous La Scala Theater in Milan will tour on the historical stage of the Bolshoi Theater from September 10 to 16. Operas by Giuseppe Verdi "Messa da Requiem" and "Simon Boccanegra", as well as a concert of Italian music will be performed. The Bosco di Ciliegi group of companies has become the general sponsor of the week-long tour of the great theater La Scala, which will come to Moscow. Director of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin said that the Moscow and Milan theaters have half a century of friendly relations: “I really wanted these creative contacts to continue. In the new economic conditions, when it is so difficult to find funding that allows such exchanges, I am happy that in the person of GUM we have found a true partner who is ready to support the tour of the La Scala Theater in Moscow and other interesting projects of the Bolshoi…”.

Then Mikhail Kusnirovich solemnly announced that on May 23, 2016, the ticket office of the Bolshoi Theater will start working directly on the first line of GUM (at the address: Red Square, Building 3). And right now, it is possible to buy tickets not only for the performances of the Bolshoi Theater, but also touring performances of the Teatro alla Scala. By autumn, an interesting La Scala store with original posters, records and videos will appear in the center of GUM near the fountain. How GUM itself will be transformed, the main shareholder decided to keep a secret for the time being. “If everything goes well, the tour is sold out, the box office is full, I may be able to issue a pass, such as I had. I don’t pretend to anything more ... ”- Mikhail Kusnirovich became modest.

"The tour of Milan's La Scala Theater in the program of the 2016 season will give all of us the opportunity to plunge into the exquisite atmosphere of Italian art..." - notedEdith Kusnirovich, ddirector of the Cherry Forest Open Arts Festival.

Hurry, lovers of Italian art, tickets - at the box office!

Italy today celebrates the 230th anniversary of the legendary La Scala opera house.

Throughout its two-century history, the Milan theater has remained the center of world opera. Performance on its stage is considered the main event in the life of any artist. Here such stars of the world opera scene as Enrique Caruso, Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, Fyodor Chaliapin, Leonid Sobinov and many others lit up.

La Scala ("scala" - stairs in Italian) got its name from the church of Santa Maria dela Scala, on the site of which a new theater was founded in 1776. The neoclassical building was built according to the project of the architect Giuseppe Piermarini in a record time for that time - 15 months.

For its opening, which took place on August 3, 1778, Antonio Salieri specially wrote the opera Recognized Europe. The impeccable acoustics of the theater was simply created for opera performances. Throughout the 19th century, operas by both Italian and foreign composers were staged on its stage. Among them were Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky.

And in 1887, twenty-year-old Arturo Toscanini, who later became the chief conductor of the theater, took up the conductor's podium at La Scala for the first time. At that time, there was no orchestra pit, it appeared at La Scala only in 1907, and until then the orchestra sat practically in the stalls.

Despite its world fame, the opera house was not very spacious. In the boxes there were only two armchairs for the ladies, the rest of the visitors had to watch the performance standing up.

The lighting in the hall was rather poor. When candles were lit in the boxes, those who sat in the stalls did not dare to take off their hats, as melted wax dripped on them.

The theater building has been restored many times. During World War II, La Scala was badly damaged during a bombardment. The Italian engineer Seki managed to restore the theater to its original form. On May 11, 1946, it opened with a concert conducted by Arturo Toscanini with a solo by soprano Renata Tebaldi.

In 1951, an event took place on the stage of La Scala that determined the fate of the theater for several years to come. The prima donna of the theater was the Greek singer Maria Kallas. For staging performances with the participation of Callas, the theater specially invited famous directors and conductors.

Many fans of the singer sought to occupy the upper tiers, as they knew that it was there that Maria Callas directed all the power of her voice. For her, there was a special point on the stage, called “C-point” among experts, which was located a little closer to the left side of the stage.

"La Scala" became the most important stage in the career of several generations of Russian artists. In September 1964, the theater came to Moscow for the first time and showed its operatic masterpieces on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater, after which the return visit of the Bolshoi Opera Company to Milan followed.

In Soviet times, Tamara Sinyavskaya, Zurab Sotkilava and Muslim Magomayev trained at La Scala.

The internship in Milan had a huge impact on Magomayev's work: he forever remained a supporter of the Italian school of singing, admiring the work of Beniamino Gigli, Gino Becky, Tito Gobbi, Mario Del Monaco ...

The tradition of creative visits of the two theaters is still maintained. In 2006, this star union received official registration: the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and Milan's La Scala signed a cooperation agreement, valid until 2010.

In May 2007, the Bolshoi Ballet went to Milan. For the first time, Russian artists were able to perform on the stage of La Scala after reconstruction. Four years ago, the stage of the theater was tripled in size, and the stage mechanism was completely re-equipped, which made it possible to give three different operas simultaneously on the same day.

Maria Alexandrova, Svetlana Lunkina, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Sergei Filin, Yuri Klevtsov and Svetlana Zakharova performed at the new stage of the La Scala Theatre, Arcimboldi.

For the prima of the Bolshoi Theater Svetlana Zakharova, the tour in Milan was marked by a unique event. For the first time in history, a Russian ballerina was honored to become the star of Milan's La Scala Theatre. Zakharova appeared on the stage of the legendary theater as Odette-Odile in Swan Lake. The partner of the Russian star was the best dancer in Italy - Roberto Bole.

The material was prepared by the online editors www.rian.ru on the basis of information from RIA Novosti and open sources.

In the auditorium of the legendary Milanese theater La Scala - a full house. Sophisticated Italian audience enthusiastically accepts the Bolshoi Ballet, which came on tour as part of the "Russian Seasons". There are young dancers and stars of the famous troupe on the stage. For the sake of the prima of the Bolshoi, Svetlana Zakharova, the Italians even sacrificed the most sacred thing - a three-day rest.

Piano sounds and ballet steps. Big - in La Scala. There is a special attitude to Russian ballet here. In the hall named after Nureyev - the morning class, like a performance. Indeed, today Svetlana Zakharova herself is at the machine. Even colleagues come to watch.

The play "La Bayadère", which has become a world classic, the hallmark of the Bolshoi Theater, is staged over and over again.

Some artists have never seen La Bayadère. It is noticeable in the look of excitement. Hard-working Italian blacks calm down when they hear the voice of the head of the Bolshoi ballet troupe.

All eyes are on her. L "Etoile La Scala and prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater Svetlana Zakharova opens the tour program. The Italians consider it almost their own - you can’t go unnoticed through the streets. Dancing at La Scala, I had to get used not to the public, but to the unhurried Italian pace of life, which, By the way, for the sake of Zakharova they changed from the first meeting.

“They told me - three days off, the theater is closed. And then I have to go out to dance one of the most difficult classical parts. As my friends later told me, such a modest Svetlana stood and said: then I won’t go on stage. No scandal. There's no point in arguing. I just calmly said - then I won’t go on stage, ”the ballerina shared.

People from all over the country come to see the Bolshoi Theater. Events were waiting. This year in Italy "Russian Seasons". In 40 cities - concerts, exhibitions, meetings with Russian culture. As in the last century, in the Diaghilev seasons, the climax is the ballet.

“We didn’t just exchange tours once, we constantly do something together. Our relationship is almost family,” said Alexandre Pereira, Artistic Director of La Scala.

“There are practically no such precedents between the opera and ballet houses of the world. So that they constantly go on tour to each other, ”said Vladimir Urin, director of the Bolshoi Theater.

Three evenings of classical La Bayadère and modern choreography in The Taming of the Shrew. Needless to say, tickets are sold out in advance.

If you are in front of the famous La Scala for the first time, it is easy not to notice. You expect architectural delights, and the facade is quite modest. This is how it is here in Lombardy - all the most valuable things are inside. And it's not just the luxurious interiors, the real treasure of the theater is the stage, which remembers the main names in the history of music.

The audience of the theater is no less legendary - demanding, subtle and in love with art. Evening at La Scala - almost Christmas. In the most chic evening gowns in the wardrobe, in diamonds, even if they were borrowed. But to see the legendary Bolshoi in your favorite theater is recognized here - this is a double holiday.

“Ballet is our passion, and the Bolshoi ballet is simply unique. Yes, and soloist Zakharova. This is not to be missed,” the viewers shared.

The performance ended later than expected. The soloists were not released, standing, the audience shouting and even stomping asked to return to the stage.

"It was fantastic! I always say Viva Big! Viva Big! ”, - the spectator admired.
