Light sketches of wolves. How to draw a wolf for a child with a pencil step by step

26.06.2019

Now we will look at how to draw a wolf with a pencil step by step, how to draw wolf hair step by step for beginners, in great detail and in great detail. Option 1 is easy, option 2 is hard.

First, we will draw a simple version of the muzzle of the wolf. At first we draw a part of a nose, then a forehead, then a mouth, a nose, an eye, a tooth and we paint over a mouth.

For this work, I used A3 paper and simple pencils with a hardness of 2T, TM, 2M, 5M.

I used this photo as a reference. The author of the photo is LoneWolfPhotography.

First of all, I make a detailed sketch, outlining all the boundaries of different tones. First, with barely noticeable lines, I outline the general outlines, then, relying on some part of the drawing as the basis for the construction, on which I measure all the quantities (most often it is the nose, since I like to start the sketch from the nose), I complete the entire sketch.

I always start hatching from the eyes. First, TM, I outline the darkest places in the eye - the pupil and eyelids, then I shade them thickly with 4M. I leave the highlight unpainted. Then I draw the iris with harder pencils. I move from the pupil to the edges for a more natural image.

I'm going to wool. I start by lightly marking the direction of the coat with a 2T pencil.

With a TM pencil, I begin to work out the wool with short strokes. I make the strokes near the eye very short.

I take 2M and go through dark places again.

I go to my ear. With a 5M pencil I paint over the darkest areas.

2M I stroke the darkened wool. First I outline with light lines, then I draw short hairs.

I outline the hairs on the ear and paint over the dark tip.

2M stroke the ear. Here it is important not to get confused in the direction and length of the strokes. I draw long strands with long strokes, first separating one and working through only it. I follow the tone.

I outline the contour of the ear with almost dotted strokes. I draw wool with short strokes.

I return to the forehead and work on the forehead with 2M, adding 4M in some places. Then I work on the hair around the other eye, moving away from it. To make the contour look natural, first I outline the extreme hairs with rare long strokes, then I add lines between them and only then I shade the remaining area. Light wool I draw 2T.

2T I outline the length and direction of the hair on the forehead. Quite difficult, because there is a complex change of direction. I constantly check with the reference. TM and 2M I go through again. It turned out too light, but we always have time to darken.

I finish the forehead. I draw the mane with 2T long strokes. It is especially important here not to lay the strokes in parallel, otherwise the wool will easily turn into unsightly stubble.

I'm working on my other ear. The technique is the same - from dark to light.

Now it's the turn of the nose. I stroke it with short, almost dotted arched strokes to show the leather texture. I actively use 2M and 4M. First I go through black and almost black places, leaving lighter ones for later.

I draw the face. Here I use very short strokes. I outline the points - the basis for the mustache. First I go through the lower jaw, because. she is darker.

I'm switching to sideburns. The technique is the same, only the strokes are much longer.

Here I change myself and go through the light mane first. She came out lighter than necessary, but this is easy to fix. I outline the hair under the muzzle.

I stroke a black stripe of wool 2M and 4M.

I'm working on my shoulders. I darken too light places. The work is ready.

Remarks

- Never press hard on the pencil. It is better to go through an extra layer than to immediately darken. Correcting darkened places can sometimes be very problematic.

- Never draw hairs in parallel, it will look unnatural. Even the smoothest animal's hairs will curve and overlap each other. Therefore, draw each individual hair at a small angle to the neighboring one or slightly bend it in an arc.

- Try to use the eraser as little as possible. It leaves behind dirt, which will make new strokes look untidy.

- Never rush. If you feel that you want to finish quickly, it is better to postpone the work, otherwise you can only spoil it.

- If something doesn’t work out for you or starts to annoy you, postpone work. Later, with a fresh look, you will be able to assess the errors and easily correct them.

Our task today is to understand how to draw a wolf with a pencil, an evil and terrible Gray, who knows a lot about piglets. And it must be done in such a way as to understand its nature.

But first let's decide! Wolf, who is he for us, a hero of fairy tales or a predatory beast living in the forest? Accordingly, having chosen his role, we will portray this character. That's what I'm going to teach my son.

Find character character

For children, the wolf is more often seen as a character from the cartoons "Kapitoshka", "Once upon a time there was a dog", "Wolves and Sheep" and others. Therefore, I must introduce my son to the role that this predator plays, living in its natural conditions.

So we begin to work on how to draw a wolf with a pencil in stages. We read books, mostly encyclopedias, carefully examine together the pictures that are there. We discuss them together. We learn about the nature of this orderly of the forest.

We are interested in getting as much information as possible. This time is not in vain for my son and for me. We are interested in talking. But we also get to know the natural world around us. And finally we understand how we want to draw a wolf in stages with a pencil. Let's get started.

Work on preparation

Everything that we have learned helps to choose a suitable drawing, which will become the basis of our work, we took it for sketching. "Our" beast stands calmly, knowing that nothing and no one threatens him, because he is the threat!

He is a predator. He has a calm, but attentive gaze, directed somewhere far away, probably to follow the animals of the forest, which in a moment, and can become prey, and also to anticipate the appearance of a hunter - the only threat of wolves.

So, how to draw a wolf in stages? We prepare everything you need:

  • Paper;
  • Colour pencils;
  • Eraser;
  • Simple pencil.

Why do we need colored ones, if it is customary when the wolf is black and gray? And his predatory eyes that gleam bright green. Sometimes they draw an open mouth, for this you need red. The inside of the beast is white-pink. And the tip of the tail of some representatives of this family is white. Therefore, we will need this entire set.

Execution of the portrait of the beast

7 step by step drawing of a wolf. From simple lines we will get to getting the image of the beast.

Step 1

We draw a circle. And under it is a figure similar in shape to an egg. She is a little away. And the narrow part of it is further from the circle.

Step 2

We connect both figures with a concave line on the right side. 4 lines depart from the lower figure, they will become the legs of the beast.

Step 3

Perhaps the child needs some help here, because such details are drawn on the muzzle, such as the nose and ears.

Step 4

We depict the neck, eyes and front paws. It is much easier for kids and beginners to draw a wolf in stages with a pencil. So every detail is compared with the picture for sketching. And therefore it is depicted more accurately.

Step 5

We pay attention to the hind legs. We remove all unnecessary details. The animal we have drawn is already becoming more similar to the drawings that the baby and I looked at before starting work.

Step 6

Moving step by step, we did not notice how we did almost everything. It remains to draw the tip of the tail, which is visible, circle the images, not forgetting that the mother has a strong neck with a muff, short hair that bristles in all directions and strong paws. Pencil drawing for beginners looks quite decent.

Step 7

Painting. Here we not only enliven our animal with paints, but also give it naturalness. It is not enough to be able to accurately copy from a sample. It is necessary to give any image its own character. This should be clearly visible in the posture and facial expression.

We've got a great picture. And my son and I already know how to draw a wolf, a predatory and beautiful animal.

And a few more options:

Howling at the Moon:

And a cartoon wolf:

The art of drawing is a talent that is not given to everyone. Many of us think so. In fact, almost everyone can create simple drawings, of course, subject to some practice. In this article you will learn how to draw a wolf in stages with a pencil. For beginners, we have selected easy master classes.

We understand that it is much easier to tell how to learn how to draw than to actually get to work. However, before you move on to the actual classes, read a few recommendations:

  • Use soft slate pencils for drawing. Such lines are barely noticeable on paper and are easily erased with an eraser. And if you accidentally draw an extra straight line, it will not be difficult to remove it.
  • It is easier to learn how to draw when there is a finished drawing as an example. And to reproduce your own fantasies on paper, you still need some practice.
  • Do not press hard on the pencil. Make light lines on paper, because even serious errors will be easier to correct.

Who said a wolf can't be kind?

In their structure, wolves are very similar to dogs, as they come from the same line of the genus. Very often in the pictures there are creatures that express their aggressive character with their whole appearance. But if you decide to draw a wolf to a child, you can give his muzzle a very pretty grin. And how to do it, you will now understand for yourself.

How to draw a portrait of a wolf with a pencil step by step

1. Before starting work, consider the location of the portrait on paper. Draw a circle for the head just above the middle of the paper, leaving room for the neck at the bottom. The circle is divided by two auxiliary lines: the middle line of the head and the line of the eyes. These lines will help you navigate further drawing.

The middle line of the drawing - this is the guideline that all artists use. It helps to make it easier to navigate on paper, as well as to make the image symmetrical and even. Therefore, it is called the middle or central.

Important! At the first stages, do not press hard on the pencil, because all the symbols are auxiliary, and they will need to be erased at the end.

2. Let's move on to detailing the silhouette of the head. Draw the characteristic shape of a wolf's head, slightly narrowed at the top. On the sides, mark the placement of the ears (without detailing). And in the middle, draw an elongated cavity and a pear-shaped nose, as shown in the figure. At this stage, also draw in more detail the nose and mouth of the wolf.

3. Draw the eyes of the wolf. Place them above the line of the eyes at the same distance from the center line. The wolf's eye is shaped like a seed.

Also at this stage, we detail the ears and denote the growth of hair on the silhouette of the head, as shown in the figure.

4. The head of the wolf is ready. Feel free to wipe all auxiliary lines.

At this stage, draw the neck, covered with thick hair. Lightly mark the hair growth on the neck and head. These marks will allow us to better navigate when we start hatching the wolf.

Draw the fur on the ears and move on to the next step.

5. Now let's move on to tinting the image with a simple pencil. To begin with, I shade the dark places and the most important parts of the portrait of the wolf, namely: the nose, mouth and eyes. Then I begin to hatch the head from the ears, at each stage smoothly moving down.

It is important to know! The stroke should be set according to the shape of the hair growth, so the hair will come out realistic. Do not forget that wool cannot be monophonic. There are light and dark places. Alternate them, as shown in the photo, and Your wolf will become like a real one.

6. With each step, move lower and lower, shading first one part of the head, and then the other. Do not forget about hair growth and gradation of shadows, partial shadows and highlights. Add contrast to the work: shade dark places more strongly, light places lightly.

7. Congratulations! The drawing of the wolf is ready.

Learning to draw a wolf walking in a forest clearing

1. First you need to think about the placement of the wolf figure on paper. To do this, we inscribe it in an auxiliary rectangle. The rectangle will allow us to better navigate on paper and not shift the composition in the wrong direction.

Interesting. To determine what size the rectangle should be, mark the bottom and top ends of the wolf, as well as the side ends. By connecting the marks with lines, you will get a frame that you cannot go beyond, and which will be your guide during the entire drawing process. Try!

Important! At the first stages, do not press hard on the pencil, because all the designations are auxiliary, and they will need to be erased at the end.

2. Now let's move on to the drawing itself. In a rectangle, using geometric shapes, conditionally depict the body of a wolf. I chose ovals. First, we designate the oval of the head, then we outline the ovals in place of the future ears and nose. We do the same with the body and limbs. Finally, mark the placement of the tail with an oval.

It turned out to be something like an inflatable toy, right?

3. And now we can begin the detailed drawing of the body and head of the wolf. We first draw the silhouette of the head and neck: ears characteristic of a wolf and an elongated head, similar to the head of a dog. On the neck we denote the growth of wool, but so far without details.

Now we move on to drawing the body and limbs, conveying the characteristic shape and adding plasticity to the lines. Finally, draw the tail.

4. If the silhouette of the wolf is ready, you can detail the image. But first, erase all the auxiliary lines with an eraser so that they do not prevent you from drawing further.

At this stage, we will depict the facial features of the wolf - draw an eye, nose and mouth. After that, draw the wool, which will indicate the end of the head. At this stage, we detail the ears by drawing strands of wool near them.

5. Draw strands of wool falling down on the neck.

6. And now draw the hair on the whole body and tail, as shown in the figure, and only a little on the limbs.

7. The wolf is almost ready! It remains only to draw the paws in more detail, and you can move on to the background. Draw mountains and fir trees in the background to show that the wolf is walking in a forest clearing.

8. Congratulations! The composition is ready. It remains to color it with colored pencils or paints.

How to draw a wolf silhouette step by step

The silhouette technique is interesting because it is very simple and fast in execution, but it creates incredible visual effects. Now we will try to draw a wolf in a graphic technique silhouette.

1. First, consider placing the silhouette on paper - let it start a little higher than the middle of the sheet. Then, with ovals, designate the ears, head and neck of the future silhouette of the wolf.

Important. At the first stages, do not press hard on the pencil, because all the designations are auxiliary, and at the end they will need to be erased.

2. Based on the resulting design, draw in more detail the contours of the body of the wolf. Draw the characteristic ears, the shape of the head and neck, as shown in the picture. Don't forget to draw some fur on the outlines.

3. The silhouette is ready! Now you can cover it with black ink or gouache and leave it to dry completely. But I decided to make the drawing a little more interesting, so I divided the resulting silhouette into planes of various shapes, leaving a distance of a few millimeters between them.

4. I paint over the resulting planes with black ink. I leave the distances between the planes white.

I hope you enjoyed drawing the wolf in different ways. But if you prefer video instructions, the next video is especially for you. The instructional video will tell how to draw a wolf howling at the moon:

Do not be afraid to fantasize and use new techniques. Success in creative work!
