International Festival of Arts Mystery Arkhangelsk Belcanto. VII Art Festival "Mystery

15.06.2019

The summer music festival gathers virtuoso performers from different countries within the walls of one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of the capital.

The State Museum-Estate "Arkhangelskoye" deservedly ranks among the main cultural venues in Moscow. Central to the series of bright events taking place on the territory of the historical complex - along with the famous festival - is the large-scale art marathon "Mystery", which is usually held in the second half of summer.

The Arts Forum takes the viewer into the atmosphere of noble music salons of the 18th-19th centuries. The Mysteries program is based on various genres of chamber and classical music, ideally combined with the classicism of the Arkhangelskoye architectural ensemble. The immortal works of Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Schubert are performed by famous Russian and foreign musicians. Concerts within the framework of the festival "Mystery" are held in the exquisite interiors of open and closed areas of the noble estate - the temple-tomb "Colonnade", the Organ Hall, the Oval Palace Hall and the Gonzago Theater. On the stages of the festival you can see not only the interpretations of the classics that are familiar to most, but also very unusual ways of presenting material - such as the programs "Organ + Saxophone", "Legends of Ireland and Scotland", "Duduk and Organ" - as well as bold combinations of music with dance art Argentine tango.

The price of tickets for the concerts of the festival "Mystery" - from 400 rubles.

VII Art Festival "Mystery" is a unique event in the musical life of the capital. After all, centuries and epochs meet on its concert venues - baroque music and the masterpieces of today ... Celtic melodies of bagpipes and the frantic passion of Argentine tango dancers. The ancient walls of the Arkhangelskoye estate are waiting to meet the audience, promising to immerse them in an amazing atmosphere of nostalgically refined courtesy, permeated with the exquisite idleness of a Russian noble estate. The palace luxury of the interiors… the time-tested classical music… the refinement of dance movements… the rich timbres of the organ, combined with familiar and exotic instruments — all this is the Mystery arts festival… within which any miracle is possible. No wonder it got its name, reminiscent of the theatrical ancient Greek mysteries.

Listeners are waiting for an amazing richness of sounds and timbres. After all, the impact on the keyboard, which two musicians are capable of at once, is difficult for one ... even the best. Organists rarely unite in duets - the very specificity of their playing suggests individualism. The more valuable is the opportunity to hear a real concert organ ensemble. VI Arts Festival "MYSTERIA" - an event in the cultural life of the capital. Combining the creative efforts of modern musicians, dancers, artists ... and artists who worked in the 18th-19th centuries will create an amazing effect of a miracle. The legendary atmosphere of the era, permeated with the idleness of the Russian estate, in a paradoxical combination with nostalgically refined courtesy, awaits today's viewers.

The very first concert impresses with the selection of performers - an organ and a saxophone quartet. The combination is unexpectedly harmonious. The next concert is an organ with a duduk. Even more paradoxical consonance. But the surprises don't end there. On the same day - tango! Dance-legend of the 20th century on the floor of a noble mansion in the interiors of the 19th century. The further program of the festival will also pleasantly surprise and delight. Both well-known works and less well-known music are waiting for you - but, from this, no less wonderful. Within the walls of the old estate, masterpieces of various eras and styles will come to life - from baroque and classics to modernity.

The sophistication of the interiors of a noble estate ... time-tested classical music ... the passion of the dance movement is an artistic product of the highest standard that will make your fantasy nostalgically sad about ... the possible. The very "possible" that will be happening right before your eyes. After all, it is no coincidence that the festival received such a mysterious name - like participants in the ancient Greek theatrical mysteries, each guest will feel chosen, initiated into the amazing mystery of creativity.

The combination of organ sounds with the timbre of a saxophone quartet is new, in a long-accustomed way. Ancient sounds modern, modern - unexpected.

Have you ever heard musical instruments talking? No, not within the limits of pitch, written out by the composer, but the way it happens in life - alternating remarks, listening and not listening to each other, arguing or agreeing. The space of the colonnade will be filled with the divine sounds of the classics. The Belcanto Foundation invites guests to witness a unique conversation between an organ and a saxophone quartet. What are they going to talk about? About Bach, Vivaldi, Marcello, Piazzolla... but you never know what? The conversation of old friends is good because you never know what conclusions the end of the concert will lead to. Only one thing is clear - it will be exciting.

Bach and Handel in one concert. This makes it possible to go back to the era of the titans - when the sky spoke to the earth in the language of music... the organ sounded like an orchestra... the orchestra sounded like an organ...

Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel never met. This is all the more strange because they were born in the same year, 80 miles apart. And in the future, until Handel left for England, they were constantly within the limits of mutual territorial proximity - Germany is not so big. Both, of course, knew and appreciated each other's work. Both are brilliant composers. But... it didn't work out. However, history has long put everything in its place. Bach sounds in concert next to Handel. And there is no element of competition in this. Rather, on the contrary, it is precisely such a comparison that makes it possible to obtain the most voluminous idea of that great era. An era famous for unattainable artistic breakthroughs - when the sky spoke to the earth in the language of music, when the organ sounded like an orchestra, and the orchestra sounded like an organ, when fashionable secular music did not hide its spiritual origins, and composers were universal. An era in which the life paths of the two greatest contemporaries never crossed. It's a pity. They would have something to talk about.

Duduk and the organ are invited to their joint concert. Baroque and modernity, classics and folk tradition - within the walls of a noble estate.

The closer to the sky, the wider the horizons. The opportunity to look at the vast expanses - what could be more tempting? Combining the centuries-old history of music in one concert, mixing the organ with the duduk, we will take advantage of an amazing chance to create a miracle. We intertwine various genres and directions, collide the consequences with the primary sources. The organ once originated from folk instruments. But the duduk, a folk instrument, looks great next to its majestic relative, in no way inferior to it in expressiveness and depth. Folklore music competes with baroque and romanticism. But the roots of the classics are in the folk tradition. A full-flowing river flows from a stream. And the name Bach is translated as ... a stream. Everything is interconnected and harmonious. Like the facets of a diamond, differences sparkle. But they are united by beauty and harmony.

Tango is the passion of dance that draws you in like a funnel. The best dancers, the best musicians - in the atmosphere of an old Russian estate.

And again - tango, whose passionate rhythms burn hearts with lava of sensual exaltation. He and she, yes and no, light and darkness - balance on the naked edge of irreconcilable contradictions, creating a miracle of harmony. This is tango. Absorbing the energy of opposites, the dance leads, forcing one to breathe in unison with violent emotion, opening up the horizons of the unknown. And the subconscious obediently follows him, without the slightest attempt at resistance - he is fascinated by the phenomenon of unbridled courage. Courage attracting, giving the energy of happiness, opening the door to the worlds of the subconscious. But tango is also about everyday life. You just need to surrender to the music and hear the pulsating heart of time in the biting rhythm of the dance.

The wonderful Canadian organist Andre Knevel will perform works by Bach, Mozart and Liszt. Great music for a great instrument.

The world of the organ is great and immense. Each sound of it has its own special character, in each consonance - the universe. We reverently listen to the singing of organ pipes, thanking the Almighty for the miracle bestowed on us. The voice of the organ is the sublime ideal of earthly dreams. The melody, infused with polyphonic fermentation, calls to the sky... the basses, making the walls of the cathedral tremble, remind of the greatness of the Creator. And all this - in an unusually beautiful embodiment of countless timbres, comparable to the timbres of a huge orchestra. Hearing the sound of the organ at least once - falls in love with him forever.

An amazing opportunity to compare the approaches of two great composers to the theme of "seasons". Different styles, different means. But the genius of the solution is striking.

"Seasons". For a wide range of music lovers, this name is equally associated with Antonio Vivaldi and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Both of these versions of the same theme are equally loved by us. Written in different eras, in different countries, the works of geniuses are united not only by a common approach to the sense of time, when through the display of the variability of nature, the life path of each of us is shown. With all the difference in means, the great ones wrote about a person, about his inner beauty, his place in the universe. Four violin concertos created by a brilliant baroque Venetian are innovatively romantic. Their emotional range is bright and fresh - even from the point of view of our today's perception. The creation of Tchaikovsky, with all its classical perfection of form and romantic sincerity, is absolutely alive and modern in the same way. True - does not become obsolete.

Irish and Scottish bagpipes. Compare and enjoy. The element of music in a perfect instrumental embodiment. Not falling in love is impossible

If someone tells you that all English bagpipes are the same, do not believe this person. Either he does not know anything, or he is trying to deceive you. The loud Scottish bagpipe is an instrument designed for war and parades. She always and everywhere accompanied the great soldiers of the Scottish army. The Irish bagpipe is softer, more aristocratic. Her voice is more gentle, thoughtful. The ranges are also different. Against as many as two chromatic ones in Irish - one octave in Scottish. The basses of the Scottish are fixed fifths, those of the Irish allow you to vary the pitch. The tools and the way air is supplied to the bag differ. If the Scottish is a typical, in fact, wind instrument, air is blown into it through a tube, then the Irish is somewhat closer to the organ, the air supply to it is mechanical, through bellows.

But it is impossible to give primacy to any of the bagpipes. Both are great, each in their own way. Both are incredibly popular.

The romance of saxophone sound in the interior of an old Russian estate. Bach, Gluck, Gershwin and Piazzolla are the best you can get.

Romance is a dream. Romance is hope. The hardest hearts, secretly from themselves, yearn for romance. And also… they love the saxophone touchingly. Because the saxophone is romance in its purest form. Saxophone voice - secret desires expressed by the singing soul, feelings embodied by sound. Listening to the saxophone, we talk to ourselves - beautiful, unexpected, relaxed. What, deep down, we would like to be. Perhaps that is why the heart does not get tired of enjoying the exciting timbre of the saxophone. After all, the perception of the voice of the saxophone, in fact, is - finding oneself. Comparing the music of Bach and Wagner, find similarities in the different, trace the differences in the methods of approach to music. But most importantly - enjoy the brilliant music!

Germany of the 19th century gave us many brilliant composers. But even among other greats, Richard Wagner stands apart. The creator of a new musical language, the creator of the German opera - he boldly went to experiments. Wagner's melody, permeated with a system of leitmotifs, is not at all like the melodious beauties of Italian contemporaries. She is lively, emotional, passionate. And, at the same time - rational, verified. The combination of the incongruous gave an amazing result, which still continues to attract with its unsolved riddle.

The main organist of the Dome Cathedral performs popular classics and wonderful, in their uniqueness, her own arrangements for organ.

Organ classics… What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear these words? Of course, the fantasy Bach's toccata in D minor, whose dynamic waves are akin to an ocean tsunami. And, inspired by the toccata, a mathematically impeccable fugue that accumulates the energy of the cosmos. And also the Passacaglia, whose unchanging inevitability of the bass line sounds like rock. Albinoni's Adagio is one of the pinnacles of world classics. The story told by music is tragic, sublime... and extraordinarily beautiful. Mussorgsky's "Bogatyr Gates" are so monumental that they simply ask for organ transcription. But "Baba Yaga", from the same "Pictures at an Exhibition" - a surprise. I wonder how exactly the character of Russian folk tales will fly out of the brilliant organ pipes to the listeners? The Four Seasons by Vivaldi is an absolute classic. But the organ sounded relatively recently - thanks to the brilliant arrangement by Evgenia Lisitsyna. She will also perform the famous "Spring". As well as all the other works listed above.

Peer Gynt is a great classic that made Norway and its folklore famous. Favorite music in a great performance!

There are legends that powerfully attract to themselves. Reading into the depths of their philosophical overtones, we again and again find answers to today's questions - surprised and rejoicing at the miracle of unchanging empathy. One such legend is the story of Peer Gynt, told in the 19th century by Henrik Ibsen. We are delighted to plunge into the charm of fiction... intensely absorbing the sound of a bygone era... And even though the realities of those times have long lost their relevance, and the conventions of dramatic writing are even naive somewhere. We are drawn to the mystery of a long-created, but such a poignant masterpiece. And yet - there is the music of the great Edvard Grieg, which is also ... Peer Gynt. The melody animates the text, the word awakens the music. We are listening.

The wonderful work of the great Italian violinist is again in the luxurious interiors of a Russian estate. The traditions of the 19th century are being revived.

Every composer dreams of creating something that will be admired centuries later. After all, in this way, there is a communion of the creator to eternity. We don't know what Antonio Vivaldi was thinking about when he created his "Four Seasons" ... most likely, he just enjoyed the well-formed melodies and harmonies - inspiration is so exciting! But we know something that contemporaries did not guess - a red-haired Venetian priest managed to work a miracle. His genius turned out to be subject to hearts and souls, feelings and minds ... "The Seasons" - music that unites humanity. They are the unchanging code of our cultural self-identification. And… unchanging listening pleasure. The master loved and knew how to compose music. It is no coincidence that he wrote more than 500 instrumental concertos alone!

The unique trio "Belcanto" invites you to their concert. Organ, duduk and saxophone. Have you ever come across something like this?

Organ, duduk and saxophone. The unexpected composition of this trio causes surprise and delight. Surprise - because this, in the entire thousand-year history of music, has never happened before. Delight - because there is an amazing opportunity to hear the magical consonance of the legendary instruments. The organ is practically almost the same age as European civilization, the saxophone was invented only less than two hundred years ago, the duduk is a folk instrument, for all its centuries-old history, which entered the classical concert stage only in the twentieth century. Until quite recently, such an ensemble seemed impossible. But, thanks to the meeting of wonderful musicians: duduk player Khosrov Manukyan, organist Ivan Ipatov and saxophonist Mikhail Troshin, a miracle happened. And the point is not even that each of the members of the ensemble is a great soloist who has numerous victories at international competitions behind him (and this is exactly the case!) - but that as a result of the creative community something absolutely new has arisen, which has no analogues in modern performance, nor in all previous history. Each of the musicians of the trio is multifaceted and unpredictable. Organist Ivan Ipatov - composer and pianist, duduk player Khosrov Manukyan - pianist, sound engineer and arranger, saxophonist Mikhail Troshin - a master of jazz improvisation and a wonderful classical musician. They are very different, but they were all united by the search for something new. The huge success that accompanies each performance of the Belcanto Trio is a natural result of tireless work, continuous search, complementarity of the versatility of performing and personal talents of the ensemble members.

By writing music for the ballet, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky created a miracle. And the point here is not even that this music (like everything else with him!) Is brilliant. But the fact that ballet music sounded valuable in itself turned out to be new and unexpected. Instead of the usual rhythmic unobtrusive accompaniment of the dance, the surprised audience heard a work of symphonic scope. Music: with an infinitely beautiful melody... climaxes comparable to mountain ranges... a rhythm that pulsates like life itself. And all this turned out to be unusually convenient for dancing. It is logical that the suites from these ballets immediately sounded from the concert stage. And they still sound - with great, unflagging success.

New timbres of familiar classics. Bach and Vivaldi meet Gershwin and Piazzolla. The saxophone is accompanied by an orchestra.

A classic is a classic because it has stood the test of time. And there is nothing more merciless and fair than this test. How many former favorites of fate have sunk into oblivion, how many popular melodies have ceased to sound forever ... And the classics live, winning new and new hearts! Classical music is like good old wine - the years only add charm to its sonic bouquet. The classics are like ancient trees, whose annual rings remember past generations, and whose foliage protects the living from the sun. Classics - a bridge between the souls of those who left and those who will come. We contemporaries are lucky. Because the classics are our present. The concert, performed by a saxophone with an orchestra, will feature classical works - from Bach and Vivaldi to Gershwin and Piazzolla. New timbres of familiar music - the way to tomorrow.
