Quilling postcards

Quilling is the creation of compositions from twisted strips of multi-colored paper. Creating complex compositions requires experience and skill. But simple images can also be made by a novice craftswoman.

Postcard with a tie

To make a postcard in the form of a shirt with a simple quilling tie:

for the base of the postcard, a dense colored cardboard measuring 12x18 cm in light brown color is taken;
a rectangle 9x10 cm is cut out of white paper - the top of the shirt;
a vertical incision 3 cm deep is made in the center of the long side. The paper along the edges of the incision is folded to the sides in the form of corners - a shirt collar;
a 5x10 rectangle is cut out of dark brown paper - the bottom of the shirt;
the white top and brown bottom of the shirt are butt-glued neatly in the center of the card;
a tight roll is twisted from a black quilling strip 5 mm wide, slightly unfurls up to a diameter of 2 cm, the tip of the tape is fixed with glue;
the roll is squeezed to give a triangular shape, glued under the collar - a tie knot;
the same roll is twisted, blooms to a diameter of 8 cm, squeezed to give an oblong shape - a tie. Internal curls are stacked asymmetrically to create an unusual pattern;
the tie is fastened under the knot.

for the final design of the postcard, you can use a beautiful inscription, decorate the edges, add patterns and quilling figures.

Postcard with a guitar

Creating a guitar will require more time and patience, but it also looks much more interesting. It is better to use it in the design of a double postcard; this three-dimensional composition will look good on a large base.

To create it:

a thick sheet of A4 format is bent in half - the basis of the postcard;
Position the card so that the fold is at the top. On the front side, a guitar will be located on the left, and congratulations are drawn up on the right;
on the left, the base for the guitar is glued - a rectangle of thick paper 9x12 cm, in yellow-brown tones, with figuratively cut edges;
on the right, the same sheet is pasted, but 2-3 times smaller - the basis for the congratulatory inscription. It can be attached slightly obliquely, creating an interesting composition;
to create a guitar, you will need strips of brown (black), white and yellow. First, the contour of the guitar is drawn on the basis: the outlines of the soundboard, the overlays on it and the neck are drawn;
stripes-borders are laid out along the drawn contour - the contour of the soundboard is laid out brown, the fingerboard is white, the neck is yellow stripes;
The next step is to fill in the created contours. Rolls of three colors are twisted. Their number depends on the size of the guitar and the measure of the opening of the rolls. On average, you will need 15-17 rolls per part, 12-14 per neck;
brown rolls bloom up to a diameter of 2 cm, slightly flattened and fit into the contour of the deck. The final form is given to them as they are filled out. You may need 2-3 rolls of a smaller diameter;
the overlay is filled in the same way with white rolls;
for the neck, the rolls open up to a diameter of 1-1.5 cm and are laid out vertically;
two small black stripes are glued on top of the fingerboard in the center of the guitar - an imitation of pickups. The guitar is ready;
a congratulatory inscription and the inside of the postcard are drawn up.

On a postcard for a guy, it would also be appropriate to put a car, a sailboat, a motorcycle, or - why not? - a mug of beer.

Scrapbooking postcards

Happy birthday cards for a guy using scrapbooking technique look very stylish. For them, you can use any materials and details, the choice is limited only by the imagination of the master.

Jeans postcard with a zipper

This postcard imitates a pocket on jeans.

To create it:

a thick cardboard of a dark shade with a size of 12x18 cm is taken;
two pieces of denim are connected by a metal "zipper". The size of the "pocket" 11x18 cm;
on the reverse side, a beautiful lining is sewn to the bottom flap;
the edges are tucked, sheathed with a large line;
the denim patch is fixed on the cardboard along the edges so that there is free space in the middle, like in a pocket. The edges can be glued or sewn; metal rivets are required;

Postcard-vest

A postcard in the form of a men's vest looks very funny.

To create it:

thin cardboard of a beautiful shade measuring 20x28 cm is bent into three parts: on both sides it is bent inward by 7 cm;
the workpiece is given the shape of a vest: cutouts are made for the hands, a neck is cut out on the front flaps;
for pockets, cardboard of a harmonizing color is selected. Cut out two rectangles measuring 5x6 cm and two 3x6 cm;
pockets are attached around the perimeter to a narrow volumetric adhesive tape, symmetrically on both sides - more at the top, small ones underneath;
congratulations and decorative trifles are put into the pockets.

Thematic vests look creative, the pockets of which are filled with objects indicating the guy's hobby.

Appliqué postcards

You don't have to be an artist to make a beautiful postcard. Even simple compositions can look very interesting. Accuracy of execution and well-chosen materials are important.

Postcard-shirt

For this postcard:

a thick cardboard 14x20 cm of a beautiful dark shade is taken - the base;
a rectangle 13x19 cm is cut out from a sheet of colored paper of bright blue color - a shirt;
the sheet is incised from above - at a distance of 3 cm from the top, symmetrical cuts 3 cm deep are made on the left and right - a collar;
the sides of the collar are symmetrically folded at an angle, fastened with rivets;
the shirt is glued to the base, strictly in the center;
a tie is cut out of bright paper, the shape and size of which depend on the imagination of the craftswoman. The edges of the tie must be folded. A knot is imitated at the top with a transverse strip;
the tie is glued to the shirt. You can attach a rhinestone or a bead imitating a tie pin on top.

It is easy to make, and it looks very interesting:

a background is glued onto a sheet of colored cardboard 12x18 cm - colored paper measuring 10x16 cm;
a small imitation of a coat hanger 7 cm long and 4 cm high (together with a hook) is twisted from a thin colored wire;
the hanger clings with a hook to the upper edge of the background sheet, in the middle;
4-5 ties 8-9 cm long, 3-4 cm wide are cut out of colored paper or fabric. Paper or fabric are selected in bright colors, preferably with patterns. The fabric must be chosen not to crumble, or to process the edges;
ties are beautifully placed on a hanger, the whole composition is carefully glued;
a separate application with congratulations is glued.

two color images of a globe with a diameter of 14 cm are printed on thick paper;

a circle with a diameter of 5 cm is cut out of the same cardboard and cut in half;

for the base, colored cardboard measuring 12x17 cm is taken:
on a white sheet, the notes of the congratulation song are printed or beautifully written;
the size of the musical scale is selected so that multi-colored buttons can fit on it, replacing the lower parts of the notes. Buttons are neatly glued to the musical ruler.

at the top of the float, a black roll flattened into an oval with a diameter of 1 cm is strengthened;
for a fish, a green roll unfolds to a diameter of 4 cm, with the inner spiral stacked so as to form an eye. The fins and tail are laid out from four orange rolls, loosened to a diameter of 1 cm and squeezed into ovals.

It is better to make a postcard from thick cardboard. We take either a blank for a postcard or measure the cardboard ourselves and cut it off, remembering that it should be rectangular in shape.

Using a ruler, measure the middle of the front side of the postcard, mark a strip on the wrong side with a pencil. The depth of the strip is 3 centimeters, but remember that the dimensions are individual and it all depends on the size of your postcard.

Now, with the help of scissors, we make an incision, strictly along the line that you drew with a pencil. And turning the paper on the front side, diagonally, we form the collar of our shirt.

What is a shirt without a tie? Let's take a pre-printed tie template and use it to create a tie. To do this, we need either thick colored paper or note paper. Trace with a pencil and cut out with scissors.

Then we try on a tie to a shirt, if it is too big, cut it off a little. And then glued with dry glue.

Optionally, you can decorate the shirt collar with rhinestones or small buttons. Just fix them with glue to the collar of the shirt.

My first handmade postcard

On the eve of the holidays and at the request of readers, I present to your attention a master class for beginners. We will make the first postcard with our own hands using the example of a male postcard.

We will need:

1 sheet of A4 cardboard

Scrapbooking paper

Scissors or cutter

Pencil

Ruler

ink pad

Twine

Double sided tape or glue stick

First we need to make a blank for our postcard. Fold A4 cardboard in half and cut

We have two halves

Now fold each half in half again. Two blanks for postcards are ready

Before you start creating a postcard, you need to make sure that all the elements in our postcard are combined

We cut off a rectangle from scrapbooking paper a little smaller than the blank, retreating from each edge by 0.5 cm. If you have scraps from paper, you can use them, for example, to sew a background from squares or from strips matching each other in color

We age our papers (background paper and postcard), for this we pass along the edge with a scissors blade, sandpaper or a special tool for aging the edge

On each side of the mute we tear the edges of the paper and fold them (I always separate the top layer with the pattern from the main one and fold it, and leave the bottom layer like this or carefully tear it off)

Using a brown ink pad, we tint the edges of our pieces of paper (if there is no ink pad, you can)

Now we bend the postcard in several places and go through the places of the fold with a sponge with an ink pad

Let's move on to the printed image. First glue it on the cardboard (for this I use 3 mm cardboard)

Then we pass along the edge of the skin

We turn to the background paper and insert brads for beauty. Slightly bend the corner of the paper and pierce a hole with an awl

Now first insert into the corner itself, and then into a piece of paper

We turn over our piece of paper and spread two legs at the brads in different directions.

Now glue the postcard to the background paper. We cut off the protruding edges of the postcard, then age the sections and go over them with an ink pad

First, we glue a background piece of paper to the blank, and then a picture, for beauty, you can put a stamp on the bottom or stick a congratulatory inscription, and if there is distress craquelure paint, you can paint a folded corner with it

4. Turn the product over, and also turn it over so that the “sleeves” are at the bottom. Then wrap the other end of the product (in my example by 7-8 mm).

5. Turn the product over again and fold the corners inward - this will be the collar of the shirt.

6. And now the last action: under the "collar" fold the other end in half.
