Mysterious Murders at the Hinterkaifeck Farm

In 1922, the mysterious murder of six people committed on the small farm of Hinterkaifeck shocked all of Germany. And not only because the murders were committed with horrendous cruelty.

All the circumstances associated with this crime were very strange, even mystical, and to this day it remains unsolved.

During the investigation, more than 100 people were interrogated, but no one was ever arrested. Not a single motive that could somehow explain what happened was also identified.

The maid who worked in the house ran away six months ago, claiming it was haunted. The new girl arrived just a few hours before the murder.

Apparently, the attacker was on the farm for at least a few days - someone fed the cows and ate in the kitchen. In addition, neighbors saw smoke coming from the chimney during the weekend. The photo shows the body of one of the dead, found in a barn.

Phoenix Lights

The so-called "Phoenix Lights" are several flying objects that more than 1000 people observed on the night of Thursday, March 13, 1997: in the sky over the states of Arizona and Nevada in the USA and over the state of Sonora in Mexico.

In fact, two strange events occurred that night: a triangular formation of luminous objects that moved across the sky, and several motionless lights hovering over the city of Phoenix. However, in the latest US Air Force, they recognized the lights from the A-10 Warthog aircraft - it turned out that at that time military exercises were taking place in southwestern Arizona.

Solway Firth Astronaut

In 1964, the family of Briton Jim Templeton was walking near the Solway Firth. The head of the family decided to take a picture of his five-year-old daughter with Kodak. The Templetons claimed that there was no one else in these marshy places except them. And when the pictures were developed, one of them showed a strange figure peeking out from behind the girl. The analysis showed that the photo was not subjected to any changes.

falling body

The Cooper family has just moved into their new home in Texas. In honor of the housewarming, a festive table was laid, at the same time we decided to take some family photos. And when the pictures were developed, a strange figure was found on them - it seems that someone's body is either hanging or falling from the ceiling. Of course, the Coopers did not see anything like this during the shooting.

Too many hands

The four guys were fooling around taking pictures in the yard. When the film was shown, it turned out that one extra hand appeared on it from nowhere (peeps out from behind the back of a guy in a black T-shirt).

"Battle of Los Angeles"

This picture was published in the Los Angeles Times on February 26, 1942. To this day, conspiracy theorists and ufologists cite it as evidence of extraterrestrial visits to Earth. They claim that the photo clearly shows that the beams of searchlights fall on an alien flying ship. However, as it turned out, the photo for publication was pretty retouched - this is a standard procedure, which almost all published black-and-white photographs were subjected to to heighten the effect.

The incident itself, captured in the photo, was called a “misunderstanding” by the authorities. The Americans had just survived the Japanese attack, and in general the tension was incredible. Therefore, the military got excited and opened fire on the object, which, most likely, was a harmless weather balloon.

The lights of Hessdalen

In 1907, a group of educators, students and scientists set up a scientific camp in Norway to study a mysterious phenomenon called the Hessdalen Fires.

On a clear night, Bjorn Hauge took this picture using a shutter speed of 30 seconds. Spectral analysis showed that the object must be composed of silicon, iron and scandium. This is the most informative, but far from the only photo of the Hessdalen Lights. Scientists are still scratching their heads as to what it could be.

Time Traveler

This photo was taken in 1941 during the opening of the South Forks Bridge. The attention of the public was attracted by a young man who was considered by many to be a "time traveler" - because of his modern hairstyle, zip-up sweater, printed T-shirt, fashionable glasses and a soap camera. The whole outfit is clearly not from the 40s. On the left, a camera is highlighted in red, which was actually in use at that time.

9/11 Attack - South Tower Woman

In these two shots, a woman can be seen standing on the edge of the hole in the South Tower after the plane crashed into the building. Her name is Edna Clinton and, not surprisingly, she was on the list of survivors. How she did it is beyond me, considering everything that happened in that part of the building.

skunk monkey

In 2000, a woman who wished to remain anonymous took two photographs of the mysterious creature and sent it to the Sarasota County Sheriff (Florida). The photographs were accompanied by a letter in which the woman assured that she photographed a strange creature in the backyard of her house. The creature came to her house three nights in a row and stole the apples left on the terrace.

UFO in the painting "Madonna with Saint Giovannino"

The Madonna with Saint Giovannino is by Domenico Ghirlandai (1449-1494) and is currently in the collection of the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. Above Maria's right shoulder, a mysterious flying object and a man who is watching it are clearly visible.

Incident at Lake Falcon

Another encounter with a supposed extraterrestrial civilization took place near Lake Falcon on May 20, 1967.

Someone Stefan Michalak was resting in these places and at some point noticed two descending cigar-shaped objects, one of which landed very close. Michalak claims to have seen the door open and heard voices coming from within.

He tried to speak to the aliens in English, but there was no answer. Then he tried to get closer, but came across an "invisible glass", which, apparently, served as a protection for the object.

Suddenly, Michalak was surrounded by a cloud of air so hot that his clothes caught fire. The man suffered severe burns.

Bonus:

This story took place on the evening of February 11, 1988 in the city of Vsevolozhsk. There was a light knock on the window of the house where a woman who was fond of spiritualism and her teenage daughter lived. Looking out, the woman saw no one. Went out on the porch - no one. And there were no footprints in the snow under the window either.

The woman was surprised, but did not attach much importance. And half an hour later there was a pop and part of the glass in the window where the invisible guest was knocking fell off, forming an almost perfectly round hole.

The next day, at the request of the woman, her Leningrad acquaintance, candidate of technical sciences S.P. Kuzionov, arrived. He carefully examined everything and took several pictures.

When the photograph was developed, it showed the face of a woman peering into the lens. Both the mistress of the house and Kuzionov himself found this face unfamiliar.

In some cases, people are killed or they accidentally die, and there are no witnesses at the place of their death. But still, in most of these cases, it is almost impossible to find a logical explanation.

Here are 20 of the most famous and mysterious disappearances in human history.

1 Flight MH370

One of the greatest mysteries of the 21st century is the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 en route from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing International Airport in China on March 8, 2014. 13. Constance Manziarli

Adolf Hitler's personal chef and nutritionist, who went missing while fleeing Berlin after the Soviet invasion and the fall of Nazi Germany. 14. Amelia Earhart

The famous American pilot was the first woman in the world to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, but her airplane was lost during a round-the-world flight near Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean in 1937. 15. Adolf Hitler

The death of one of the most famous madmen of the 20th century, Adolf Hitler, is still shrouded in mystery. According to the generally accepted version, on April 30, 1945, after active street fighting, when Soviet troops were on their way to the Reich Chancellery, Hitler shot himself, and his wife Eva Braun swallowed a capsule of cyanide. Their corpses were burned, and the remains were never found, and this fact gave rise to many theories about the subsequent fate of Hitler and his wife.

16. D. B. Cooper

The legendary hijacker D. B. Cooper became famous as the mastermind of the most unusual robbery in the history of mankind. After receiving a $200,000 ransom, he parachuted out of a Boeing 727 flying at an altitude of 4 kilometers in the Oregon area on November 24, 1974. After extensive searches, the police found neither Cooper himself nor any trace of him.

17. Lieutenant Felix Moncla

On the evening of November 23, 1953, the most mysterious event in UFO surveillance occurred - Air Force radars near Lake Michigan, Wisconsin in the United States spotted an unidentified flying object. The F-89C Scorpio fighter was immediately raised to intercept it from Kingross Air Force Base. The aircraft was flown by First Lieutenant Felix Monkla, and Lieutenant Robert Wilson was the fighter's radar operator at the time. As ground operators subsequently claimed, the fighter approached an unidentified object, and then both of them, merging together, disappeared from the radar screens. A search and rescue operation was organized, but the wreckage of the aircraft could not be found.

18. Ghost ship "Joyta"

The merchant ship Joyta, carrying twenty-five passengers and crew, mysteriously disappeared in the South Pacific in 1955. The drifting ship was soon discovered in very poor condition, with rusted pipes and a working radio, which, due to damaged wiring, could only send distress signals within a radius of three kilometers. So far, nothing is known about the whereabouts of the passengers of this ship.

19. Ninth Legion "Hispan"

The Ninth Legion mysteriously disappeared into foggy Britain during a military campaign. No traces of weapons indicating that the legionnaires could have been destroyed in battle were found - the five thousandth army seemed to be swallowed up by the earth.

20. Disappearance of Valentich

The "disappearance of Valentich" in 1978 is one of the most unusual events in the history of Ufology. The mysterious case of Friedrich Valentich is considered one of the most famous mysteries in Australian aviation - before the plane disappeared into the sky, the pilot managed to report on the radio that he had seen a UFO. Many representatives of the UFO subculture, as well as Valentich's father, believe that the man was abducted by aliens and may even be still alive.

Mystery happens not only in the movies. It happens in real life, and it happens even on a particularly large scale. Historical documents record many inexplicable cases that occurred during the war. Under mysterious circumstances, people, tanks, planes and ships disappeared. Until now, many of these events have no logical explanation.

Philadelphia experiment, the mystery of the destroyer "Eldridge"

There are many urban legends around this event, and information about what really happened is still classified. From the available information, the following is known: in 1943, scientists decided to conduct an experiment to demagnetize the ship, or, as they say, "degaussing", making the ship invisible to the magnetic fuse of mines and torpedoes. To do this, four powerful generators of electromagnetic oscillations were installed on board the destroyer Eldridge, which, according to the scientists, were supposed to create an invisible "electromagnetic cocoon" around the ship.

But something went wrong: first, the ship was enveloped in a caustic haze, then the Eldridge simply disappeared. In some incredible way, four hours later, the ship materialized at a distance of tens of kilometers from the test site at the Norfolk base.

From the crew of 181 people, only 21 sane sailors remained, the rest went crazy, either grew into the bulkheads and structural elements of the ship (27 people), or died from radiation, burns and electric shock (13 people).
The US Navy does not confirm or deny the information about the experiment, and the sailors themselves, who served on the destroyer Eldridge, say that there was no experiment.

3,000 Chinese soldiers never seen again

Almost an entire division of Chinese soldiers disappeared without a trace during the Sino-Japanese War in 1937. Chinese General Li Fu Shi sent a division of 3,000 men to stop the Japanese advance on Nanjing. And in the morning the orderly reported to the commander that there was not a single soldier in the positions. At the same time, there were no traces of a night battle, no corpses. Such a number of soldiers simply could not leave their positions unnoticed and at the same time not leave any traces. After the war, the Chinese government initiated an investigation into this incident, but to no avail.

Disappearance of a battalion of the Norfolk Regiment

An entire battalion of the Norfolk Regiment disappeared on August 12, 1915 during the Dardanelles operation. Moreover, this inexplicable phenomenon happened in front of eyewitnesses - soldiers of the New Zealand unit, who were on the front line in the area of \u200b\u200b"Hill 60" when the Norfolk were preparing to attack Turkish positions.

After the war, New Zealand veterans said that on that day 6 or 8 clouds hung over "Hill 60" in the form of "round loaves of bread", which did not change their location, despite the wind. Another cloud, 800 feet long, 200 feet high and wide, was almost on the ground. The Norfolk sent to reinforce the British units on "Hill 60" entered the cloud without hesitation. As soon as the last soldier disappeared in it, the cloud slowly rose and, having collected the rest, clouds similar to it, flew away. No one else saw the soldiers of the Norfolk Regiment.

Why not a plot for a blockbuster? Surely there is an interesting feature film with such an incredible mystical plot on OnlineDisplay. But the main feature is that these are real events that actually take place ...

All 267 missing servicemen are still considered missing. The British government tried to find its subjects and even turned to the Turkish authorities for help, but to no avail.

Missing "Unebi"

The disappearance of ships in the ocean is a fairly common phenomenon, especially in the Bermuda Triangle. However, the armored cruiser Unebi stands alone in this list. The ship went missing while sailing from Singapore to the South China Sea in December 1886, the only time in the history of the Japanese Navy that it disappeared without a trace.

No wreckage or dead bodies were found at the site of the alleged loss of the ship. The armored cruiser was well armed and could stand up for itself, and its crew included from 280 to 400 experienced sailors. To this day, not a single fragment of the Unebi has been found, so the ship is considered missing, and a monument to sailors has been erected at the Aoyama cemetery in Tokyo.

Link 19 Mystery

Under mysterious circumstances, five Avenger torpedo bombers and a PBM-5 Martin Mariner seaplane sent to search for them disappeared.

Events unfolded as follows: On December 5, 1945, a group of Avengers received a training mission to fly east from the Naval Air Station at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to bomb near Bimini Island, and then fly some distance to north and back.
The link took off at 14 hours 10 minutes, the pilots were given two hours to complete the task, during which time they had to cover about 500 kilometers. At 1600, when the Avengers were supposed to return to base, the controllers intercepted disturbing conversations between the commander of Flight 19 and another pilot - it seems that the pilots lost their bearings.

Later, the commander contacted the base, saying that compasses and clocks were out of order on all bombers. And this is very strange, because the Avengers had quite serious equipment at that time: gyrocompasses and AN / ARR-2 radio semi-compasses.
However, the flight commander, Lieutenant Charles Taylor, reported that he was unable to determine where the west was, and the ocean looked unusual. Further negotiations did not lead to anything, only at 17.50 at the air base they were able to detect a weak signal from the flight aircraft. They were east of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and moving away from the mainland.
Somewhere around 20.00, the torpedo bombers ran out of fuel, and they were forced to splash down, the further fate of the Avengers and their pilots is unknown.

The Martin Mariner plane sent to search for the missing also disappeared, however, on one of the ships that was in the search area, they saw an explosion in the air, perhaps this was the ill-fated PBM-5. However, the pilots themselves called the "Martin Mariner" a "flying gas tank", so its loss is quite understandable.

But there is a lot of obscurity in what happened to the Avengers: what caused the failure of navigation instruments operating on different principles? What was wrong with the ocean and why did the pilots get lost in places they knew? There is also a legend that a radio amateur intercepted a message from the commander of Flight 19: "Do not follow me ... They look like people from the Universe ..."

By the way, in 2010, the Deep Sea search vessel discovered four Avengers lying in formation at a depth of 250 meters, 20 kilometers northeast of Fort Lauderdale. The fifth torpedo bomber lay two kilometers from the crash site.
The side numbers of two of them were FT-241, FT-87, and on two more, only the numbers 120 and 28 could be seen, the designation of the fifth could not be identified. After the researchers raised the archives, it turned out that five Avengers disappeared only once - on December 5, 1945, but the identification numbers of the vehicles found and Unit 19 did not match, except for one - FT-28, the aircraft of commander Charles Taylor, but what's the most. the rest of the planes were not among the missing.

These days, it's pretty hard to completely hide your personal data, because just typing a few words in a search engine - and the secrets are revealed, and the mysteries come to the surface. With the development of science and the improvement of technology, the game of hide and seek is becoming increasingly difficult. It used to be easier, of course. And there are many examples in history when it was impossible to find out what kind of person he was and where he came from. Here are some of these mysterious cases.

15. Kaspar Hauser

May 26, Nuremberg, Germany. 1828. A teenager of about seventeen wanders aimlessly through the streets, clutching a letter addressed to Commander von Wessenig in his hand. The letter states that the boy was taken to school in 1812, taught to read and write, but he was never allowed "to take a single step out the door." It was also said that the boy should become "a cavalryman like his father" and the commander could either accept him or hang him.

After meticulous questioning, they managed to find out that his name was Kaspar Hauser and he spent his whole life in a "blacked out cage" 2 meters long, 1 meter wide and 1.5 meters high, in which there were only an armful of straw and three toys carved from wood (two horses and dogs). A hole was made in the floor of the cell so that he could relieve himself. The foundling hardly spoke, could not eat anything but water and black bread, he called all people boys, and all animals - horses. The police tried to find out where he came from and who the criminal was, what made the boy a savage, but this was never found out. For the next few years, some people took care of him, then others, taking him into their house and caring for him. Until December 14, 1833, Kaspar was found stabbed in the chest. A purple silk purse was found nearby, and in it was a note made in such a way that it could only be read in a mirror image. She said:

"Hauser will be able to describe to you exactly how I look and where I came from. In order not to bother Hauser, I want to tell you myself where I _ _ I came from _ _ the Bavarian border _ _ on the river _ _ I'll even tell you the name: M .L.O."

14. Green Children of Woolpit

Imagine that you live in the 12th century in the small village of Woolpit in the English county of Suffolk. While harvesting in the field, you find two children huddled in an empty wolf hole. Children speak an incomprehensible language, dressed in indescribable clothes, but the most interesting thing is their green skin. You take them to your house where they refuse to eat anything but green beans.

After a while, these children - brother and sister - begin to speak a little English, eat not only beans, and their skin gradually loses its green tint. The boy falls ill and dies. The surviving girl explains that they came from "St. Martin's Land", an underground "world of dusk" where they looked after their father's cattle, and then they heard a noise and ended up in a wolf den. The inhabitants of the underworld are green and dark all the time. There were two versions: either this is a fairy tale, or the children ran away from the copper mines.

13. Somerton Man

On December 1, 1948, on Somerton Beach in the town of Glenelg (a suburb of Adelaide) in Australia, the police discovered the body of a man. All the labels from his clothes were cut off, he had neither documents nor a wallet, and his face was clean-shaven. Even the teeth could not be identified. That is, there were no clues at all.
After the autopsy, the pathologist concluded that "death could not have occurred due to natural causes" and suggested poisoning, although no traces of toxic substances were found in the body. In addition to this hypothesis, the doctor could not suggest anything more about the cause of death. Perhaps the most mysterious thing in this whole story was that a piece of paper was found with the deceased, torn from a very rare edition of Omar Khayyam, on which only two words were written - Tamam Shud ("Tamam Shud"). These words are translated from Persian as "finished" or "completed". The victim remained unidentified.

12. Man from Taured

In 1954, in Japan, at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, thousands of passengers were hurrying about their business. However, one passenger did not seem to take part in this. For some reason, this outwardly perfectly normal man in a business suit attracted the attention of airport security, he was stopped and began to ask questions. The man answered in French, but was also fluent in several other languages. His passport had seals from many countries, including Japan. But this man claimed to have come from a country called Taured, located between France and Spain. The problem was that on none of the maps offered to him there was any Taured in this place - Andorra was located there. This fact greatly saddened the man. He said that his country had existed for centuries and that he even had its stamps in his passport.

Discouraged, airport officials left the man in a hotel room with two armed guards outside the door while they tried to find more information about the man. They didn't find anything. When they returned to the hotel for him, it turned out that the man had disappeared without a trace. The door did not open, the guards did not hear any noise and movement in the room, and he could not leave through the window - it was too high. Moreover, all the belongings of this passenger disappeared from the airport security premises.

The man, simply put, dived into the abyss and did not return.

11. Lady Granny

The 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy spawned many conspiracy theories, and one of the most mystical details of this event is the presence in the photographs of a certain woman, who was dubbed Lady Grandmother. This woman in a coat and sunglasses got into a bunch of pictures, moreover, they show that she had a camera and she was filming what was happening.

The FBI tried to find her and identify her, but to no avail. The FBI later approached her to provide her videotape as evidence, but no one ever came. Just think: this woman, in broad daylight, in full view of at least 32 witnesses (whom she was photographed and videotaped), witnessed the murder and filmed it, and yet no one could identify her, not even the FBI. She has remained a secret.

10. D. B. Cooper

It happened on November 24, 1971 at Portland International Airport, where a man boarded a plane bound for Seattle, clutching a black briefcase, who bought a ticket under the documents in the name of Dan Cooper. After takeoff, the Cooper handed the flight attendant a note saying that he had a bomb in his briefcase and his demands were $200,000 and four parachutes. The flight attendant notified the pilot, who contacted the authorities.

After landing at the Seattle airport, all passengers were released, the Cooper's demands were met and an exchange was made, after which the plane took off again. As it flew over Reno, Nevada, the imperturbable Cooper ordered all personnel on board to remain in place, while he himself opened the passenger door and jumped out into the night sky. Despite a large number of witnesses who could identify him, "Cooper" was never found. Only a small portion of the money was found - in a river in Vancouver, Washington.

9. 21-faced monster

In May 1984, a Japanese food corporation called "Ezaki Glico" ran into a problem. Its president, Katsuhiza Ezaki, was kidnapped for ransom right from his home and held for some time in an abandoned warehouse, but then he managed to escape. A little later, the company received a letter stating that the products were poisoned with potassium cyanide and there would be victims if all products were not immediately recalled from food warehouses and stores. The company's losses amounted to $21 million, 450 people lost their jobs. The unknown - a group of people who took the name "21-faced monster" - sent mocking letters to the police, who could not find them, and even gave clues. Another message said that they "forgave" Glico and the persecution stopped.

Not satisfied with playing with one large corporation, the Monster organization has its eyes on others: Morinaga and a few other food companies. They acted according to the same scenario - they threatened to poison the products, but this time they demanded money. During a failed money exchange operation, a police officer almost managed to grab one of the criminals, but still missed him. Superintendent Yamamoto, in charge of investigating the case, could not bear the shame and committed suicide by setting himself on fire.

Shortly after, "Monster" sent his final message to the media, poking fun at the death of a police officer and ending with "We're the bad guys. It means we have more to do than bait companies. Being bad is fun. Monster with 21 faces." . And nothing more was heard from them.

8. The Man in the Iron Mask

The "man in the iron mask" had the number 64389000, according to prison records. In 1669, the minister of Louis XIV sent a letter to the head of the prison in the French city of Pignerol, in which he announced the imminent arrival of a special prisoner. The minister ordered a cell to be built with several doors to prevent eavesdropping, to provide this prisoner with all his basic needs, and finally, if the prisoner ever spoke of anything other than this, to kill him without hesitation.

This prison was famous for putting "black sheep" from noble families and the government. It is noteworthy that the "mask" received special treatment: his cell was well furnished, unlike the rest of the prison cells, and two soldiers were on duty at the door of his cell, who were ordered to kill the prisoner if he took off his iron mask. The conclusion lasted until the death of the prisoner in 1703. The same fate befell the things he used: the furniture and clothes were destroyed, the walls of the cell were scraped off and washed, and the iron mask was melted down.

Many historians have since argued bitterly over the identity of the prisoner in an attempt to find out if he was a relative of Louis XIV and for what reasons he was destined for such an unenviable fate.

7. Jack the Ripper

Perhaps the most famous and mysterious serial killer in history, who London first heard about in 1888, when five women were killed (although it is sometimes said that there were eleven victims). All the victims were connected by the fact that they were prostitutes, as well as the fact that they all had their throats cut (in one of the cases, the cut was right up to the spine). All of the victims had at least one organ cut out of their bodies, and their faces and body parts were mutilated almost beyond recognition.

Most suspiciously, these women were clearly not murdered by a novice or amateur. The killer knew exactly how and where to cut, and he knew anatomy perfectly, so many immediately decided that the killer was a doctor. The police received hundreds of letters in which people accused the police of incompetence, and there seemed to be letters from the Ripper himself with the signature "From Hell".

None of the many suspects and none of the countless conspiracy theories have been able to shed light on this case.

6. Agent 355

One of the first spies in US history, and a female spy, was Agent 355, who worked during the American Revolution for George Washington and is part of the Culper Ring spy organization. This woman provided vital information about the British army and its tactics, including plans for sabotage and ambushes, and if not for her, the outcome of the war could have been different.

Supposedly in 1780, she was arrested and sent aboard a prison ship, where she gave birth to a boy, who was named Robert Townsend Jr. She died a little later. However, historians are suspicious of this story, stating that women were not sent to floating prisons, and there is no evidence of the birth of a child.

5. Killer named Zodiac

Another serial killer who remains unknown is the Zodiac. It's practically the American Jack the Ripper. In December 1968, he shot dead two teenagers in California - right on the side of the road - and attacked five more people the following year. Of these, only two survived. One of the victims described the assailant as brandishing a gun wearing a hooded cape like an executioner's and a white cross painted on his forehead.
Like Jack the Ripper, the Zodiac maniac also sent letters to the press. The difference is that these were ciphers and cryptograms along with insane threats, and at the end of the letter there was always a crosshair symbol. The prime suspect was a man named Arthur Lee Allen, but the evidence against him was only circumstantial and his guilt was never proven. And he himself died of natural causes shortly before the trial. Who was the Zodiac? No answer.

4. Unknown rebel (Tank Man)

This picture of a protester facing a column of tanks is one of the most famous anti-war photographs and also contains a mystery: the identity of this man, who is called Tank Man, has never been established. An unknown rebel held back a column of tanks alone for half an hour during the unrest in Tiananmen Square in June 1989.

The tank was unable to bypass the protester and stopped. This prompted Tank Man to climb onto the tank and talk to the crew members through the vent. After a while, the protester got down from the tank and continued his stand-up strike, preventing the tanks from moving forward. Well, then it was carried away by people in blue. It is not known what became of him - whether he was killed by the government or forced into hiding.

3. Woman from Isle

In 1970, the partially charred body of a naked woman was discovered in the Isdalen Valley (Norway). More than a dozen sleeping pills, a lunch box, an empty liquor bottle, and plastic bottles that smelled of gasoline were found on her. The woman suffered serious burns and carbon monoxide poisoning, in addition, 50 sleeping pills were found inside her, and she may also have received a blow to the neck. The tips of her fingers were cut off so that she could not be identified by fingerprints. And when the police found her luggage at the nearest railway station, it turned out that all the labels on the clothes were also cut off.

During further investigation, it turned out that the deceased had a total of nine pseudonyms, a whole collection of different wigs and a collection of suspicious diaries. She also spoke four languages. But this information did not help much in establishing the identity of the woman. A little later, a witness was found who saw a woman in fashionable clothes walking along the path from the station, followed by two men in black coats - towards the place where the body was found 5 days later.

But even this testimony did not help much.

2. Grinning Man

Usually paranormal events are difficult to take seriously and almost all phenomena of this kind are exposed almost immediately. However, this case seems to be of a different kind. In 1966, in New Jersey, two boys were walking at night along the road towards the barrier and one of them noticed a figure behind the fence. The towering figure was dressed in a green suit that shimmered in the lantern light. The creature had a wide grin or grin and small prickly eyes that relentlessly followed the frightened boys with their eyes. The boys were then questioned separately and in great detail, and their stories matched exactly.

Some time later, in West Virginia, reports of such a strange Grinning Man appeared again, and in large numbers and from different people. With one of them - Woodrow Dereberger - Grinning even talked. He identified himself as "Indrid Cold" and asked if there were any reports of unidentified flying objects in the area. In general, he made an indelible impression on Woodrow. Then this paranormal entity was still met here and there, until it disappeared completely.

1. Rasputin

Perhaps no other historical figure can be compared with Grigory Rasputin in terms of the degree of mystery. And although we know who he is and where he came from, his identity has become overgrown with rumors, legends and mysticism and is still a mystery. Rasputin was born in January 1869 to a peasant family in Siberia, where he became a religious wanderer and "healer", claiming that some deity gave him visions. A whole series of controversial and bizarre events led to the fact that Rasputin, as a healer, ended up in the royal family. He was invited to treat Tsarevich Alexei, suffering from hemophilia, in which he even succeeded somewhat - and as a result acquired enormous power and influence over the royal family.

Associated with corruption and evil, Rasputin was the subject of countless unsuccessful assassination attempts. Either a woman was sent to him with a knife under the guise of a beggar, and she almost gutted him, then they invited him to the house of a well-known politician and tried to poison him with cyanide mixed into the drink. But that didn't work either! In the end, they just shot him. The killers wrapped the body in sheets and threw it into the icy river. Later it turned out that Rasputin died from hypothermia, not from bullets, and even almost managed to get out of his cocoon, but this time his luck did not smile at him.

Many believe that humanity is suffering from a strange species amnesia. We have certain facts about our past, stating how long our species has existed, when we got out of the caves, found speech, created the first tools, and when the species with which we shared this planet died out. And we accept these facts as an indisputable truth, despite the fact that some of them began as stories, which were later confirmed.

However, until now, various native tribes have beliefs that run counter to official science. And although scientists claim that these legends are only artistic works of folk craftsmen, we see every day how various myths are embodied in reality. For example, what about stories about " big polar bear"living in the highlands of China?" Fiction", - people said, until a French missionary brought his skin. Bam! - the mystical animal has become a familiar giant panda. Then scientists say that they have records that state with absolute certainty which species have become extinct, and - bam! - in 1938 they catch coelacanth in the ocean, which, according to them, disappeared from the face of the Earth as much as 66 million years ago.

15. Indian Civilization

At first, the existence of an unknown ancient civilization on the territory of modern Pakistan was not taken seriously - rumors and rumors. And then in 1842, some archaeologist reported that he had found some ruins. This discovery was ignored until 1856, when the remains of a hitherto unseen civilization were unearthed during the laying of the railroad. Now, after numerous archaeological expeditions, we have learned quite a lot about the Indus civilization. The found artifacts speak of the high level of development of the one who lived here in 3300 BC. society.

The main difficulty faced by scientists is the impossibility of deciphering their language. Although the Harrapese writings are incomplete, scholars are unanimous in their opinion that the Harrapans had a language, and based on the available evidence, it was written. However, this is a moot point, because it would mean that the Hindus mastered writing before anyone else who lived in this area. Also, some artifacts hint at the possible use of printing, and if this is confirmed, then the Indian civilization will be ahead of the Chinese in terms of development by 1500 years.

14. History of the Olmecs

The enigmatic Olmec people are said to have lived somewhere in what is now Mexico in 1100 BC, making them the oldest Central American civilization. Until the early 1990s, little was known about them, until a group of local residents from the city of Veracruz unearthed a well-preserved stone slab, streaked with ancient writing - far older than anything found before. It became the greatest archaeological find. Scientists have studied the inscriptions on the stone and made some amazing discoveries. Firstly, the artifact belonged to the mysterious Olmec civilization. Further, the experts concluded that the text was so well structured that it had all the hallmarks of meaningful sentences, error corrections, and even lines of poetry. Moreover, the nature of the markings suggests that this tile is a private " copy" of the specified text. If this is true, then there must be more various " documentation", records, trade routes or even ancient literature waiting for their Columbus!

The only negative is the inability to decipher the Olmec language. It is unlike any previously discovered American writing system. Without a document, like the Rosetta stone from Egypt, it is almost impossible to understand this ancient people. For researchers, this task is similar to the study of the Indus civilization, only worse. And although the found tablet is so far the first and only document on the North American continent, experts are sure that the Olmecs could write complex stories, detailed reports, and even a religious calendar with a detailed description of traditions. We have yet to find out what happened to this civilization after 300 BC, and this may well be one of the greatest historical discoveries of the near future. It is worth noting that the Olmecs are included in the rating of 10 mystically disappeared civilizations.

Probably, almost everyone has heard the legend of King Arthur - a knight who pulled a sword from a stone that no one else could lift. Some desperate romantics believe that Arthur is a real person, and, based on knowledge, we cannot completely deny this. It is known for certain that in life there really is a sword in the stone - maybe he became a source of inspiration for the legend?

The real sword was found in the Monte Siepi Chapel in the Abbey of San Galgaro, located in Tuscany, Italy. The story goes that Saint Galgano Guidotti began his life as an evil and cruel knight. In 1180, he met the Archangel Michael, who told Guidotti to give up his sinful life and follow the path of God. At first he refused, but then he drove through Monte Siepi - then still just a rocky hill. He was called by a voice from heaven, who said that now is the time to change. The knight replied that it was the same as " cut the rock with a sword".

And to show the impossibility of the request, he plunged his sword into the stone. And instead of breaking, the blade went into the cobblestone. Not believing what had happened, he fell on his knees and began to pray at this very stone as at the altar in the future. About a year later, Galgano died and was canonized in 1185 by Pope Lucius III. The church was built around that very sword in stone. True, now it is closed with a strong plastic case so that no one would think of becoming the king of England.

One of the most controversial artifacts is the Sealand skull. It was found in 2007 in Elstukke, Denmark, while replacing pipes. At first, no one paid much attention to him, but later, in 2010, he was examined at the Veterinary College of Denmark and ... The researchers could not establish whose he was, since he did not fit any species known to science. This skull has raised many questions that scientists cannot answer, but some of them are trying to get full information about the artifact. Paleontologists believe that this is the skull of some kind of mammal, possibly a horse, however, a closer examination showed that the owner of the skull does not fit the Linnean taxonomy. A radiocarbon scan conducted in Copenhagen at the Niels Bohr University showed that an unknown specimen lived somewhere in the years 1200-1280 BC.

Further excavations at the site of the find, unfortunately, did not yield anything interesting. It's a pity, because the skull is quite an interesting type: Compared to the human skull, it has many noticeable differences. For example, the eye sockets of the Sealand specimen are much larger, deeper, and rounder, and go more to the sides. In humans, the eyes are set in the center. His nostrils, like his chin, are narrow, but in general the skull is larger than the average human. The surface of the skull is smooth, which scientists see as an adaptation for survival in cold temperatures. Based on the size of the eyeballs, scientists believe that the Sealand specimen was nocturnal. But what is this creature? Alien? Or some previously unknown subspecies of people? We must hope for the results of future research.

11. German submarine UB-85 was sunk by a sea monster

During the First World War, there was a story about a German submarine, which, according to legend, was attacked by a sea monster, because of which it could no longer go into the depths. We are talking about the submarine UB-85 and its commander Günther Krech. In April 1918, a British patrol ship approached a submarine that was on the surface. The Germans immediately surrendered. The ship's captain, Günther Krech, was interrogated and told about this strange incident.

At night, the submarine surfaced to recharge the batteries. And suddenly she was attacked by a strange creature, which, according to the assurances of Krekh, had a small head and fangs shining in the moonlight. A huge monster tried to tilt the ship, but the crew managed to scare it off with rifle and machine gun fire and prevent more damage. Actually, that is why the Germans could not go deep and escape from the patrol vessel. As a result, various reports stated that the submarine either sank or was destroyed by a British patrol.

The submarine and its history have become part of sea tales. It was believed that such a ship did not exist, until in October of this year, a Scottish cable-layer found something similar to the legendary UB-85 in the North Sea while laying a power cable. Acoustics showed that the ship was not seriously damaged. It is planned to conduct further research and find out what happened to the submarine. Maybe she was really attacked by a sea monster?

Another controversial artifact is the Manx penny. This coin was found on August 18, 1957 in an archaeological quarry while exploring the culture of the American Indians near Brooklyn, Maine. As many as 30,000 magnificent artefacts have been unearthed, but one that does not belong to Indian culture, the Manx penny, is especially noteworthy. Some researchers consider it a fake, others - proof that in pre-Columbian times, Europeans came to this continent.

Scientists argue about the origin of this coin. It is definitely not made by the American Indians, and some even believed that it was brought in the 12th century from England. Later studies claim that the artifact is of Scandinavian origin and was made in the 11th century. The University of Oslo confirmed that similar coins were in circulation in Norway in 1060-1080 BC. Now the Manx penny has settled in the National Museum of Maine, whose authorities remain silent and officially cannot confirm either the origin or even the authenticity of the artifact. This unusual find will torture the minds of scientists for a long time - how many of them are there and how did they get here?

Historians claim that the first human civilizations started building villages, farming and building temples only in 8000 BC, but is it really so? This amazing discovery challenges the established views on anthropogenesis. The discovery took place in 1994 in the countryside of Göbekli Tepe in Turkey. At the top of the mountain range rises more than 200 large stone pillars up to 18 meters high and weighing about 20 tons each. They are arranged in a series of twelve rings with images of various animals. The find is dated 12000 BC. Yes, this Turkish altar is thousands of years older than Stonehenge! It may even be the oldest place of worship in the world.

Various evidence indicates that the site was built by ancient nomadic hunters and gatherers who had not yet mastered agriculture. Modern science believes that at this level of development, people still knew nothing about the complex symbol systems, social hierarchy and division of labor - the necessary prerequisites for the construction of this gigantic temple of 89,000 m2. Theoretically, religion should have arisen after people moved from hunting and gathering to agriculture and animal husbandry, but this find may argue otherwise.

Thus, the question arises - maybe the need for construction was the reason why people settled down, began to build communities and began to look for a permanent source of food, which invented agriculture? If so, how did the ancient nomads do it? How did they manage to do this thousands of years before anyone else? And finally, who are these people and where did they go? Archaeologists have yet to give an answer.

8. Did humans live side by side with dinosaurs?

Dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago, millions of years before humans first appeared. And in this case, it is very strange that scientists find artifacts with amazingly accurate images of dinosaurs, as if painted from life. Example? Built in the XII century, the temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. A detailed image of a stegosaurus is engraved on one of the walls, despite the fact that the first recorded find of fossil remains of these reptiles was found only at the beginning of the 19th century. And how did the artists of antiquity manage to depict extinct lizards so reliably?

Another example that baffles archaeologists is the stones from the city of Ica. According to the documents, they were found in Peru, in a cave near the above-mentioned town. Peruvian archaeologist Professor Javier Cabrera received these mysterious artifacts in 1961 as a gift. Examining the stone more closely, he discovered an image of an ancient fish that became extinct millions of years ago, according to official sources. The discovery impressed the professor so much that he decided to find out more about it. The drawing was made on a piece of andesite - a dark gray/black volcanic rock, very strong and hard to work, especially with primitive tools of antiquity.

Fossils found in the same area confirm that the extracted artifacts are millions of years old. Professor Karbera collected several hundred stones from caves in Ica and found images of living brachiosaurs, tyrannosaurs and triceratops on some of them, and on another - a predatory dinosaur devouring an ancient native. Radiocarbon scanning is not the most accurate method, because sometimes dinosaur fossils are too old to extract at least some information from them ... So maybe people really caught ancient dinosaurs, as these artifacts say?

Many different publications were ringing about the Crimean pyramids found in 1999 by Vitaly Gokh, who retired from the Soviet Army thirty years ago. Having retired to the reserve, he began research activities that led him to the Crimean peninsula, where an amazing find took place. Gokh suggested that if there are flooded villages in the Black Sea, then there must be other ancient buildings. But the region is just a storehouse of archaeological treasures of various cultures - ancient Greek, Roman, Ottoman and others.

Being an engineer by profession, he knew how to use magnetic resonance instruments and decided to test his hypothesis. And she confirmed. Goh found an area of seven limestone pyramids along the southern coast of the peninsula. The largest of them is 45 meters high with a base length of 72 meters and had a truncated top, like the Mayan pyramids. And all seven buildings form a straight line running from the northwest to the southeast. Goh claims that as many as 39 pyramids can be under water.

In his opinion, these are the most ancient structures on Earth, built in the era of dinosaurs. However, before rewriting history, many more excavations and studies of various documents will have to be done - most scientists believe that Goch's hypothesis has nothing to do with reality, and his find may be much younger. Fortunately, the Russian researcher is already seeking funding to further develop the found pyramids.

Well... Strictly speaking, the Salzburg Cube is not a cube at all, which is why it is sometimes called the Wolfsegg Iron Nugget. This interesting artifact was found in 1885 near Wolfsegg am Hausruck, in Austria. It is said that this interesting egg-shaped object was found by a miner while extracting coal for a steel shop. The find was covered with potholes and a deep groove surrounding it, had sharp edges and weighed about 800 grams with dimensions of 6.6 x 6.6 x 4.7 cm. Chemical analysis showed that " egg"consists of alloyed steel with the addition of nickel and carbon, and the absence of sulfur showed that it was not pyrite. By all indications, it was a man-made product, machined from a single piece of iron. And everything would be fine, but the artifact was found in coal deposits aged 20 -60 million years That's the problem!

And how could such a fancifully decorated piece of iron have appeared millions of years before the official appearance of people? Scientists have been wrestling with this riddle for more than a hundred years. Some scientists believe that the artifact is a fake, others - that it is a gift from guests from outer space, others claim that it is a meteorite. For many years, the Salzburg Cube passed from one research center to another, but now this mysterious object is located in Austria, in the Vöcklabruck Regional Museum.

5. Who is this "terrible Bigfoot"?

"Terrible Bigfoot", or Yeti, is the colder brother of Bigfoot. He is also the most unsolvable cryptozoological mystery. Many witnesses, traces of large feet and blurry videos made people think that something was happening in the Himalayas. And it seems that one of the British geneticists even knows The name of the researcher is Dr. Brian Sykes, and he is a professor of genetics at Oxford University, who completed the deciphering of DNA samples believed to belong to the Yeti in 2013. In particular, one of the hairs was found in the western Himalayan region called Ladakh, and the other - from the state of Bhutan, which is about 860 km from there.

The Ladakh specimen was taken from the mummified remains of an unknown creature killed forty years ago by a local hunter. The second hair is the only hair found 10 years ago in a bamboo forest in Bhutan during the filming of a documentary. Professor Sykes compared DNA samples with those stored in the global repository of genetic samples of various creatures - including extinct ones - GenBank. The researcher thought that here he could find similar samples. And the result amazed him and greatly puzzled him.

Scans showed that both samples matched the DNA of an ancient polar bear whose jawbone was found in Norway. The age of the bone is approximately 40-120 thousand years. Sykes says that this is exactly the period when polar and brown bears became two different species. Perhaps the Yeti is a subspecies of brown bears living from a polar ancestor! Really " terrible bigfoot"Finally identified? Dr. Sykes is sure that both hair samples from different parts of the Himalayas belong to the same animal. Additional research and expeditions will be needed to confirm that it is the source of the Bigfoot legends.

4. Where did the Egyptians get cocaine from?

Unwilling to risk their reputation for " discoveries of cocaine", the scientists commissioned an independent lab to run the same tests on several mummies. The results were confirmed: the mummies were just stuffed with cocaine and tobacco. And German scientists began to study more and more mummies, and found traces of tobacco in almost a third of them, and inside the mummy of Ramses II (the same one known from the biblical story " Exodus", about Moses and the Ten Commandments) were tobacco leaves and a petrified tobacco beetle! And this is not a joke. It seems that Ramses II was a heavy smoker. But where did the ancient Egyptians get such substances? After all, there are no records of the Egyptians traveling to unknown distances, and evidence of the use of these drugs - too.And it seems that scientists will not solve this puzzle soon.

3. "Giant Codex"

Codex Gigas, which is translated from Latin as " giant book"- no more, - the largest ancient manuscript in the world. According to historians, the book was written in the 13th century in a Benedictine monastery in the Czech city of Podlajice, then during the Thirty Years' War in 1648 it was captured by the Swedish army and is now in the National Library of Sweden in Stockholm This tome was made from over 160 animal skins and can be lifted by two people.

The book contains the full text of the Vulgate - the generally accepted Latin translation of the Bible by the blessed Jerome of Stridon - as well as many other works in Latin, including " Jewish antiquities"Josephus Flavius, a collection of Hippocrates' writings on medicine," Czech chronicle"Cosmas of Prague," Beginnings"Isidore of Seville. In addition, there were texts for exorcism rites, magic formulas and descriptions of the Kingdom of the Lord. And of course, a full-size image of Satan, because of which the book was named" Devil's Bible".

Legend has it that the monk who wrote this book made a deal with the Devil after he was sentenced to be walled up alive. Thanks to Satan, who left his portrait on the pages of the Bible, the monk managed to finish the book in one night. The researchers who examined the book concluded that the writing in the book is quite uniform and clear, as if the book had really been written in a very short time. However, this is impossible, because you would have to continuously scribble for five whole years in a row. Scholars generally believe that this code required over thirty years of work on it. However, we must remember that some monks could receive punishment in the form of copying sacred texts. The skill and perseverance with which this one was performed cannot be found now ... Or maybe there really is an evil spirit involved?

2. Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun

The discovery of the pyramids in Bosnia could be the greatest archaeological discovery in Europe. According to Dr. Semir Osmanagic, head. Department of Anthropology at the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the found pyramid may be the oldest man-made object on Earth (however, this title can also go to the Crimean pyramids). Dr. Osmanagich discovered it back in 2005 when he was passing by in the city of Visoko. The mysterious hill stood out strongly from the surrounding landscape, which attracted the attention of the anthropologist.

The structure is called the Pyramid of the Sun and the Moon and its height is 220 meters, which is much higher than the Pyramid of Cheops in Giza. And the most amazing thing about the Bosnian pyramid is that it is directed to the north with an error of only 12 arc seconds. Too precise to be a mere coincidence, the Great Pyramid of Giza has exactly the same location accuracy. The Pyramid of Cheops is located at the intersection of the longest parallel and the longest meridian, that is, exactly above the center of mass of the Earth. Moreover, the edges of its base are located exactly on the cardinal points. Too precise a location to be left unnoticed. And then suddenly there is a similar pyramid. How did it happen? Was there really a connection between two ancient civilizations? It will take years to answer a question that may change mainstream science forever.

1. "Big bowl"

Fuente Magna - a large stone vessel, similar to a tub or bowl, was found in 1958 by an unknown farmer near Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. Subsequently, the artifact was sent to the Museum of Precious Metals of La Paz, where it lay for almost forty years, until two researchers tried to study it. The vessel has beautiful engravings with animals and inscriptions in Sumerian cuneiform. And it raised a lot of questions. How could an artifact with Sumerian cuneiform writing end up in the Andes, because there are thousands of kilometers between them? Archaeologists are trying to decipher the ancient writings, but they have no idea what kind of cuneiform was used.

An expert in ancient cuneiform writing, Dr. Clyde Winters, claims that the bowl is possibly of ancient Sumerian origin and is similar to artifacts found in Mesopotamia. He also notes that a similar cuneiform script was used 5000 years ago by the ancient peoples of the Sahara: the Dravidians, the Elamites, and the early Sumerians. All these civilizations formed in Central Africa before its desertification began in 3500 BC. Dr. Winters translated some of the letters, and their meaning surprised many.

The bowl was a ritual libation vessel in the name of Ni-Ash, the Sumerian goddess of fertility. Nya is the Sumerian transcription of the name of the Egyptian goddess Neith, who was worshiped by many peoples who formed in Libya and parts of Central Africa. The found vessel allows us to build new hypotheses about the previously undiscussed connection between the Sumerians and the Bolivians.

Mysterious finds of archaeologists, which may indicate the life of the disappeared highly developed civilizations. The level of technology available to them is simply amazing.
