Everyone who has an Android device wants to have access to the Internet. After all, sometimes you want to kill time or just find something interesting. All Android devices, when first connected to modern 2G and 3G networks, automatically receive settings from the operator for accessing the Internet. But there are exceptions. In which case? For example, if the phone was brought from abroad. This happens, everyone is looking for a reason on the Internet and therefore we decided to write about it.

In order to set up GPRS / 3G on Android, you need to go to "Settings" - "Wireless networks" - "Mobile network". With the development of mobile networks and broadcast formats, more and more subscribers are thinking about how to connect 4G to Megafon. It is he who occupies a leading position in providing high-quality mobile communications to Russian users.

Megafon subscribers are among the first who could receive high-quality and high-speed Internet 4 G format. In addition, the company launched its gadgets for sale in order to use this service.

    4G on Megaphone

Many consider 4 G to be a myth, since this broadcasting format is quite young for our country. But mobile Internet 4ji from Megafon is already spreading across the country by leaps and bounds.

The service is called 4G+. Compared to 3g, its format is an order of magnitude higher in terms of data transfer speed. All this is thanks to LTE technology, which does not limit Megafon users in viewing various video content, as well as listening to audio compositions in the best quality.

Advantages of 4g Internet from Megaphone.

Also, LTE technology allows you to download large files in a shorter time, since at the same time the traffic speed can be 300 Mb / s.

4ji+ service already available to MegaFon subscribers living in 77 regions of the country, but along with this, only a third of Megafon users have LTE support, but with the rapid development of this format, the rest will soon have this opportunity.

In addition, today, not all devices are configured to receive this type of communication - for the most part, support is limited to 2, 3 and 4 G formats.

Checking 4G Internet support from Megafon

If the subscriber has a desire to check the Megafon SIM card for what connection format it supports, then he can do this through a special command - *507# . It is performed from any modern mobile phone.

This information can also be obtained through technical support on the website company Megafon.ru. To check, you will need to enter a mobile phone number in a special form, after which the Megafon subscriber will be notified of what format his SIM card supports.

    User rating 4g connection Megafon

Subscribers who have already assessed the quality of this format are very ambiguous about it.

Oleg: « Well, wait! They announced the entrance to the new generation for a long time - I hope Megafon will not let you down and will once again prove its leadership in this area

Sergey: « I recently got a modem 4G in the salon Megafon. He also found a suitable tariff. Now I use it - there are no complaints, besides the fact that the signal often disappears. But I attribute this to a large number of people who want to connect to this type of Internet. Another unpleasant moment for many may seem to be the high cost of equipment (compared to devices 3G). »

A story about how sometimes it's better not to touch the default iPhone settings

    01/26/17 at 20:12

Each owner of any device that has settings considers it his duty to reconfigure “to his tastes”. Sometimes we do it out of a desire to improve, fix, optimize something. Unfortunately, the result is not always positive.

I recently purchased an iPhone SE that had iOS 10 installed on it. In the first few days of use, I began to notice that the battery was draining quite quickly. Contacting Apple support, they gave me several recommendations, such as: turn down the screen brightness, turn off unused services, and the like. Of course, such tips do not always help, since a number of services simply cannot be turned off, and lowering the screen brightness will make it inconvenient to use the device outdoors in clear weather.

So I continued to look for ways to increase the battery life of the iPhone SE and read on the Apple website that, among other factors, how well the iPhone picks up cellular communication can affect the battery life. Where I usually am, my mobile operator (MTS) issues 2 bars, which is generally not enough. In an attempt to improve this, I have tried entering commands to improve the search for towers, which did not give anything. Then I did what seemed to be a very harmless thing. Paying attention to the fact that in the settings for choosing a cellular operator it is “automatically”, I decided to try to set the MTS forcibly.

After rebooting the iPhone, it became clear that this also did not give any changes. I changed the setting back to "automatic". I had already completely forgotten about this case, the next day I discovered that I did not have an LTE connection. Only 3G. Attempts to return it back only led to the appearance of a strange sign "this cellular network is not certified by the operator for LTE on the iPhone."

After looking for a problem in search engines, it turned out that I'm not the only one who has it, and in general even on different mobile operators. Considering the fact that Apple allows LTE to work only with the cellular operator whose networks it tests itself, this looked more than strange. I tried the Megafon SIM card and LTE immediately worked fine. So it was not the device itself.

Appeals to Apple and MTS support did not yield results. I was offered to restore the device (did not help), and also sent settings to the Internet, which did not differ in any way from those that had already been entered.

I didn’t want to stay without LTE at all, and I continued to rummage through the forums on this topic until I found a message from my brother in misfortune:

“The problem has been solved, but for some reason ordinary office workers do not know about it: an employee assured me for an hour that +H and LTE are the same format. You need to contact MTS support so that you can update the Internet settings on the number. If they are updated, you will receive two notifications in a row: the first about turning off the Internet on the number, the second about turning it on. After that, switch the Internet in the phone settings to 3G, then back to LTE (4G). Everything must work. I changed the SIM card more than five times, contacted the office for help, the problem was not solved for two years. As a result, I wrote an angry letter to the MTS customer support mail, everything was fixed in the way described above in a couple of hours.

Which is what I did. Having written a similar message through the MTS feedback form, I began to wait and after a few days received an SMS “Mobile Internet service is disabled on your number” and almost immediately another one “Mobile Internet service is connected on your number”. LTE successfully earned.

If you have the same problem. And for some, it appears even when buying a new iPhone, you know: you can solve it, the main thing is to describe exactly what you want the operator's support service to do.

Yesterday, the owners of new iPhones, whose devices communicate with the world through a black-and-yellow SIM card, had the opportunity to fully use the mobile Internet. Namely, . And while subscribers of other operators have to envy and wait for the results of negotiations with an American company, some users can already try out high-speed mobile Internet, but this will require a little effort. We have prepared instructions for connecting to Beeline 4G networks with iPhone 5s and 5c.

The first step is to make sure that the smartphone can work in Russian networks. Operator representatives report that 4G operation has been successfully tested and guaranteed on the following models: A1457 and A1530 for iPhone 5s, as well as A1507 and A1529 for iPhone 5c. Owners of other "tubes" should not despair - there have been reports that LTE also appears on 5s marked A1533. But if buying a smartphone is only in the plans for now, you should choose a device with guaranteed support for Russian frequencies.

A regular SIM card is not suitable for 4G operation on a smartphone. High-speed Internet requires a special USIM card, for which you need to contact one of the Beeline offices, and do not forget your passport to confirm your identity. As an option, take with you the person in whose name the contract was concluded. Of course, also with a passport.

Having received the desired “sim card”, you should look on your smartphone in the “Settings” section, then “General” and “About the device”. There, users will receive an offer by downloading a carrier settings update. The process is no different from installing new versions of the mobile operating system and will take a little time.

4G Internet is available on all Highway options that work in 3G and LTE networks. As for the connection speed to Beeline's LTE network, on average it is 10-20 Mbps, the maximum is up to 74 Mbps. Of course, in practice, everything depends on real conditions, for example, the user's location and network congestion. But in any case, the LTE connection is much faster than the usual 3G network.

At the moment, VimpelCom has deployed LTE networks in Moscow and six constituent entities of the Russian Federation: the Kaliningrad region, the Altai Republic, the Republic of Adygea, the Republic of Ingushetia, the Republic of Kalmykia, the Astrakhan region. In each of the places of presence, about 80% of urban areas are covered. The company's immediate plans include the active development of 4G in the Moscow region and the launch of the network in St. Petersburg in March 2014. In the new year, the LTE network will be launched in six new regions and million-plus cities across Russia.

For Muscovites, it is important that the metropolitan Beeline began to use frequencies in the 800 MHz band under LTE, which provide better indoor communication quality than 2.5-2.7 MHz. Support for CSFB mode is also present - the smartphone will seamlessly switch between 4G for mobile Internet and 3G network for voice calls. VoLTE technology, which allows calling in LTE networks and exchanging short messages, will not be launched in the foreseeable future.

Modern mobile networks allow you to get a high-quality and stable connection to the Internet. Slow EDGE and GPRS are already a thing of the past, modern 3G and 4G are constantly expanding their coverage area, and in the future, the introduction of high-speed technology is already being prepared. However, it is too early to talk about it, and in this article we will look at ways to set up 3G / 4G on the Android OS.

To set the preferred type of network in which the device will operate, you must perform a series of actions:

Step 1. Run Settings and select " SIM cards and mobile networks»

Step 2. Select the SIM card that will be used to access the Internet

    Step 3. Select " Network type»

Step 4. Set the desired network type - 2G/3G/4G

Important to know: In different versions of the operating system and different shells, the path to these settings may differ. But they are always in the category related to SIM card settings, so finding them is not difficult. Also instead of 2G/3G/4G abbreviations may be used GSM/WCDMA/LTE respectively.

How to enable 3G on android

On Android, the button to turn on the mobile Internet is located on the quick access bar, which appears when the user drags the "curtain" down from the top of the screen. Just press the button " Mobile Internet to enable or disable 3G on your phone. Depending on the selected network type, the corresponding icon will appear in the status bar:

    • "E" for 2G

    • "H+" or "3G" for 3G

    • "4G" for 4G

Important to know: Connecting to new generation mobile networks can greatly reduce the battery life of your smartphone. Therefore, if it is important for you to save battery power, you should not turn on 4G, but it is better to turn off mobile Internet altogether when it is not needed.

Why 3G does not work on android

Before setting up 3G on Android, make sure that your smartphone supports this type of network. You can find all the information on this issue in the documentation that came with the device or on the Internet.

It is also worth checking if your city has 3G / 4G coverage. So, for example, in the cities of Ukraine, the introduction of 4G is only planned, so you won’t be able to use ultra-fast Internet with all your desire. You can find the coverage areas of the largest Russian mobile operators at the following links:

All smartphones automatically receive mobile Internet settings from the network operator, but sometimes the gadget cannot correctly set the necessary options, as a result of which access to the mobile Internet is lost. You can find out how to choose an access point and set the correct settings from our article "How to set up the Internet on Android".

    Conclusion

Most modern mobile devices make it very easy to set up 3G / 4G with just a couple of clicks. Therefore, using high-speed mobile Internet should not cause you any difficulties; the main thing is that your mobile operator provides appropriate access services.
