The famous Ukrainian musician Anatoly Evdokimenko devoted his whole life to one woman - his beloved wife, whom she became. For her sake, he created a musical group in his youth. To perform together with Sofia on the same stage, Anatoly mastered musical instruments - first it was a trumpet, then a double bass.

He created all the conditions for the development of her musical career, independently directed all her performances and tours. Sophia fully reciprocated, always making common interests a priority. Together with his wife, Evdokimenko lived a life full of creative victories and stories of overcoming.

Anatoly Evdokimenko and Sofia Rotaru in their youth

The musician was born in 1942 in Chernivtsi. By education, he was not associated with music or creativity, having received a diploma in mathematics at a higher educational institution. He goes to the army. Then, having met his beloved Sophia and accepting her love for creativity, he decides at all costs to create all the conditions for her development.

Thanks to his talent as an organizer, Anatoly gathers the Chervona Ruta musical group, in which he makes Sofia a soloist. Then he begins to perform as part of this group as a musician, and then retrains as an administrator and director of tours with Rotaru.

Anatoly Evdokimenko is a People's Artist of Ukraine.

Personal life

In 1968, he legalized a long-standing relationship with the singer, who later became famous throughout the Soviet Union. Young people met in a peculiar way - Anatoly saw a photo of the winner of a music competition on the cover of a magazine and decided to find her and get to know her. Found, confessed his feelings - and actively courted for another two years, until Sofia reciprocated.

Together Sofia and Anatoly traveled the whole world. First, Sofia went to Novosibirsk with her husband, where Anatoly was exiled during the service, then Evdokimenko accompanied his wife during her tour. They lived as husband and wife together for 34 years. The couple has a beautiful son who already has his own children. So, the grandson often visited his grandparents.

For the sake of his wife, Anatoly did unusual things all his life. For example, in order to confess his love to Sofia in her native language, Evdokimenko mastered the Moldovan language in his youth.

Rotaru did not lag behind her husband. She devoted a lot of time and effort to his health in adulthood, literally pulled him out of his illness, investing all the proceeds from the tour in his treatment.

Death

Anatoly's health was not the strongest, and with age, Evdokimenko faced many serious illnesses. He led a long and productive battle with cancer, eventually defeating a serious illness.

EVDOKIMENKO ANATOLY

EVDOKIMENKO ANATOLY

EVDOKIMENKO ANATOLY(creator and permanent leader of the Chervona Ruta VIA, husband of Sofia Rotaru; died on October 23, 2002 at the age of 61).

Evdokimenko's health problems began in 1998. It was then that he had his first stroke. Ukrainian doctors raised Anatoly to his feet, but his speech remained difficult, and he suffered from frequent headaches. The musician was again taken to the hospital, where new examinations began. And then the doctors (three Kyiv professors at once) make an even more terrible diagnosis - brain cancer. Upon learning of this, the wife of the musician Sofia Rotaru literally turned black. But then, pulling herself together, she rushed to save her husband. Having heard that the world's best neurosurgeons-oncologists work in Germany, she organized tours in this country and spent all her free time from concerts with her husband in clinics. Local doctors reassured her: there was no cancer, and difficulty speaking and pain were the result of a stroke. With this diagnosis, the couple returned to their homeland. But there a new misfortune lay in wait for them - Anatoly's father died of cancer. And six months later, Rotaru's best friend also died of the same disease.

On May 30, 2001, a granddaughter was born to the "star" couple Rotaru and Evdokimenko, who was named Sonya in honor of her grandmother. And then a song appeared in Rotaru's repertoire in honor of her granddaughter - "Girl with a Guitar." However, the joy of this event was soon overshadowed by a new misfortune. At the beginning of 2002, Evdokimenko again had a stroke, but this time the most severe - he struck both hemispheres of the brain and deprived the patient of speech and the ability to move. Rotaru immediately went to one of the most famous medical institutions in the CIS, which is engaged in post-stroke rehabilitation, the Kiev Institute of Gerontology. She stated that she was ready to pay for all the necessary procedures and consultations of the best specialists. Doctors, having examined the patient, did not give guarantees of complete recovery, referring to previous strokes.

For some time, Rotaru was next to her husband, but then she was forced to leave him - she went to Moscow, on tour, to earn money for expensive medicines. According to eyewitnesses - nurses of the clinic, her farewell to her husband was tender and touching. Stroking Anatoly's hand, she said: "Ruslan and Sveta will visit you every day, and I will call them in the morning and in the evening." When Rotaru got up and went to the door, Anatoly ... began to cry.

For the sake of love for her beloved, Rotaru took an unprecedented step: for the first time she agreed to perform in a nightclub, in Metelitsa, because there she was promised decent money. The audience accepted her with a bang, gave her a mountain of flowers, called for an encore several times. Rotaru smiled, but there were tears in her eyes. And then sad news came from Kyiv: Evdokimenko's condition became critical and he was transferred to the rehabilitation department for neurological patients. Rotaru immediately flew to her husband.

Meanwhile, on August 17, 2002, right before the Yalta performance of Rotaru with the new solo program “I still love you,” which the singer dedicated to her beloved husband, Anatoly Evdokimenko again had a stroke. Even heavier than the previous ones. You can imagine the state of the singer, who was then forced to go on stage and hold her concerts. Moreover: immediately after these concerts, she went on tour to Germany, since the treatment of her husband still required a lot of money. And there, just a few days before the end of the tour, tragic news overtook her: in a Kyiv clinic, her husband had another stroke. Rotaru immediately flew to her homeland and managed to catch Anatoly alive, but, unfortunately, in critical condition. On October 23, at 17.40 Kyiv time, Evdokimenko died. He was in his 61st year. The next day, the son of the late Ruslan and his wife Svetlana arrived by car from Frankfurt.

On October 25, the funeral of Anatoly Evdokimenko took place. The memorial service was held in the building of the Kyiv Philharmonic. As O. Alekseeva wrote in the newspaper “Life”: “In the morning, the people of Kiev began to come to the Philharmonic building. Sofia Mikhailovna with her son and daughter-in-law (the grandchildren were left at home with a nanny) arrived at the Philharmonic at eleven o'clock in the morning. The singer imperceptibly sat down next to the coffin. In a fragile crying woman, dressed in all black and dark glasses, it was difficult to recognize the great pop star. The singer was crying almost silently, talking in a whisper to her son, who did not leave his mother for a minute. The entire foyer of the Philharmonic was lined with wreaths. When the memorial service came to an end, Rotaru went to the coffin. She stroked her husband's hand, kissed him on the forehead, and then hugged her husband and, crying, spoke to him. The son tried to raise his mother, but she did not obey him, begged him to leave her and allow her to talk with her husband longer.

Friends were brought to the Rotaru cemetery in a jeep. The funeral procession was accompanied by cars of the State traffic inspectorate.

When Sofia Mikhailovna was saying goodbye to her husband at the Baikovo cemetery, a strong wind suddenly rose. The lid of the coffin fell and hit the singer hard on the head. But she seemed to feel nothing and continued to kiss her husband. She didn't seem to hear anyone. When the coffin was lowered into the ground, Sofia Mikhailovna screamed loudly and fell unconscious into her son's arms.

Sofia Rotaru has long become the leader of Russian song art, but even now she continues to shine on stage. The 71-year-old singer delights her fans not only with her vocal abilities, but also with her appearance: in fresh pictures, the star still looks great.

Her biography contains many trials, life problems and disappointments, although it was these events that helped Rotar become a strong, successful and intelligent woman. Now, many of her fans are most concerned about the latest news about her health, as the press has recently speculated about the poor condition of the singer.

Brief biography, childhood

Sofia Mikhailovna (her last name at birth - Rotar, nationality - Ukrainian with Moldovan roots) was born in 1947 in the village of Marshintsy, which was part of the Chernivtsi region of the Ukrainian SSR. Her parents were simple rural workers: her father worked in the vineyard, and her mother traded in the market. The future artist grew up in a large family, where her three sisters (Zinaida, Lydia, Aurika) and two brothers (Anatoly, Evgeny) also grew up, who also chose singing.

As a child, little Sophia was distinguished from other children by her energy, curiosity and benevolent character. During her school years, she was involved in athletics, taking an active part in various competitions. Her father had an excellent ear for music and had a beautiful voice, which was inherited by the future artist. The girl sang in the school choir, and also learned to play the domra and button accordion.

She loved to sing folk songs, speaking to the villagers and at amateur art competitions in Chernivtsi. Soon her voice captivated the jury, who awarded her a diploma of the first degree. Parents supported the young performer, dreaming of her great future. When it came time to choose a profession, Sofia did not even hesitate to connect her future with the stage and become a singer. She left for Chernivtsi and applied to a music school, where she took a course in the conductor-choir department.

Since 1971, the singer has performed with the Chervona Ruta ensemble, taking part in music festivals, as well as traveling around many cities. At the age of 26, Rotaru received the status of Honored Artist of Ukraine, and a few years later she performed songs by Soviet composers, earning herself the honorary title of “Queen of the Russian Stage”.

Relationships in the family

In her youth, Sofia Mikhailovna, like many girls, dreamed of meeting her future chosen one, intending to live a long and happy life with him, like her parents. The future husband, Anatoly Evdokimenko, learned about the existence of an aspiring singer in 1964, when he served in the army. Seeing a beautiful compatriot on the cover of a magazine, he decided to meet her and offer to sing in his pop orchestra, which he dreamed of creating. The young man managed to get an education at the Chernivtsi University, where in his spare time he performed in a pop group. After beautiful courtship, Evdokimenko invited Rotar to become his wife, thanks to which their wedding took place in 1968. Two years later, their family was replenished: the son Ruslan was born.

The couple, who have been married for more than 30 years, were considered a strong and loving couple, causing admiration and respect from the couple's fans. However, in 2002, grief happened in the artist's personal life: her husband died of a stroke. The singer was very upset by the death of her beloved husband, because of which she could not do work for some time. Sofia Mikhailovna had thoughts and even wanted to leave the stage, but thanks to the support of her family and close friends, she continued her performances.

Ruslan followed in the footsteps of star parents and connected his profession with creativity, becoming a music producer. His wife Svetlana is also a producer. The artist's son and his wife gave her grandson Anatoly and granddaughter Sofia, whom her parents named after the famous grandmother.

Health status for 2018

In August 2018, journalists reported that the pop star was urgently hospitalized in one of the hospitals in Bashkortostan. Rotaru performed in Ufa at a private event when she felt unwell. The artist fainted, as a result of which the ambulance took her to the hospital. Rumors immediately appeared in the media that she had a stroke and was in intensive care with a suspected stroke.

Sofia Rotaru in 2018

Some sources also reported that Sofia Mikhailovna had traces of previous strokes. Perhaps this was due to the fact that she did not follow the recommendations of doctors and took medications incorrectly. However, the concert director denied the speculation of journalists about her serious condition, saying that the artist simply had minor health problems.

Doctors also assured fans of Rotaru's likely pressure surge, which is what happened. Fortunately, the stroke was not confirmed, and the celebrity could speak well. She was later diagnosed with a transient ischemic attack.

Within a few days she felt better, and the singer left the hospital. She spent two more days in Ufa and only then flew home. To reassure the fans, the artist published a fresh photo on her personal microblog, where she is captured in Boryspil with her beloved grandson, who met her at the airport. At the bottom, Rotaru made an optimistic inscription: “Hurrah! I'm home!".

Despite feeling well, the star of the scene will have to do a thorough medical examination at home. Relatives, who worry about her no less than fans, will do everything so that Sofia Mikhailovna chooses the time to visit doctors. So, judging by the latest news about the health of the artist, today she is doing well, but fans are still worried about their favorite and send her messages to the page with words of care and support.

Latest news about the singer (tours, interviews, personal relationships, life in Ukraine)

In recent years, the "queen of the Russian stage" rarely appears on the Russian stage and practically does not give interviews to journalists. But sometimes she still goes on tour in European cities or performs at private banquets. The artist has reduced her creative activity, as she prefers to spend more time with her family - with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, and also do what she loves.

In 2017, Rotaru celebrated its 70th anniversary. In honor of this significant date, she gave a concert, which was held in Baku during the "Heat" festival. At this event, the singer pleased her loyal fans with a new song called Azerbaijan. In the autumn of the same year, for the song "On Seven Winds", she became the laureate of the Russian Golden Gramophone Award, receiving a music award for the twelfth time.

Sofia Mikhailovna still attracts the public with her beautiful appearance, and many women dream of using her beauty secrets. The artist herself prefers not to dwell on this topic, which is why rumors are born that she resorted to the services of plastic surgeons. Many of her colleagues extended their youth with the help of “plastic surgery”, but in most cases this led to disastrous results, but Rotaru has not lost her individuality and naturalness even now.

It is not surprising that many still gossip about the changes in her personal life. At the beginning of 2018, Sergey Zverev shared the news with the public, saying that the artist secretly got married for the second time. At the same time, the star stylist did not disclose the details of the wedding, as well as who is her new chosen one. Sofia Mikhailovna herself did not react to this news, but her son willingly talked to the press. He did not hide that this message causes him only laughter. According to him, only her late husband will forever remain a loving man for the singer.

The artist and her family have always preferred to live in Ukraine: in Marshintsy, Chernivtsi, Yalta and Kyiv. But she often goes to rest in different countries, allowing herself a luxurious vacation in the Maldives, Sardinia, Italy and other places. At this time, she takes a break from professional makeup and appears in public without makeup. Often the company in a pleasant pastime is made up of her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

24-year-old Anatoly has not yet got his own family and is enthusiastically doing what he loves - photography. He studied in London, where he learned the basics of the fashion industry. The granddaughter of the famous artist, Sofia, who has already made people talk about herself, does not remain deprived of attention. The girl lives and studies in London, and also builds a modeling career, taking part in many European shows and photo shoots. The 17-year-old beauty not only became the best model in her homeland, but also conquered Western fashion critics, who are sure that she will have great success on the world podium. The singer's granddaughter is every time at the shows of Haute Couture Week in Paris, spending a lot of time in the capital of France.

  1. Sofia Mikhailovna has to celebrate her birthday not only on August 7, but also on August 9, as the passport office workers made a mistake and put the wrong date of birth in the documents.
  2. Love for folk art and Russian songs was instilled in her by her older sister Zinaida, who lost her sight due to an illness in her childhood. The blind girl listened to the receiver and memorized songs, and then taught little Sophia.
  3. Rotaru knows from childhood what it is to get up early and help parents. She also had to trade in the market, so now the star of the scene never tries to buy products cheaper, knowing that this is "hellish work."
  4. In 1971, the singer performed under the name Rotar. It was Edita Piekha who recommended that she change her surname to the Moldavian way, adding the letter “u” at the end. In Romanian, "rotar" means charioteer.
  5. Sofia Mikhailovna is a record holder among the participants in the finals of the Song of the Year festival, having performed more than ninety songs in this television program.
  6. The artist was the first of her colleagues in the workshop to try on the title of People's Artist of the USSR. Many Ukrainian listeners could not accept the fact that they were performing Russian songs. Despite the aggravation of interethnic relations, Rotaru continued to include both Ukrainian and Russian songs in her repertoire.

Whoever was not attributed to the new husbands of the legendary singer Sofia Rotaru, whose personal life and biography still excites all fans of her work! Another media interest in romantic relationships in the fate of the artist broke out last summer. Then a hot confession of 37-year-old musician Alexander Popov appeared on the network.

According to the man, a woman like Sofia Rotaru cannot but arouse admiration, both for her external beauty and for her inner strength of character. The young man is known not only for his participation in the once popular Turbomoda group, but also for his former relationship with Tatyana Bulanova. According to some rumors, replicated by the "yellow" press, it was Popov who caused the popular singer to leave the football player Rodimov. Sofia Mikhailovna herself and members of her family, as well as colleagues on the stage, do not comment on such a recognition.

Childhood years and the family of the singer

The future star was born in 1947 in the distant Bukovinian village of Morshyntsi. Sophia's parents were simple village workers who worked in agriculture for many years. In addition to the vociferous girl, the family had two more sisters and three brothers. At the same time, the eldest lost her sight in childhood, having contracted an infectious disease. Therefore, Sofia Mikhailovna was considered the eldest in the house and her workload was appropriate - her duties included milking a cow and selling herbs at the local market. The younger ones in the house always helped the elders - family relations and mutual assistance were instilled in children from early childhood.

Sofia Rotaru in childhood

As the artist and her relatives recall in a few interviews devoted to the personal life and biography of Sofia Mikhailovna and denying the appearance of a new husband in the fate of the artist, Ukrainian and Moldovan songs were often heard in the house. It was the father who became the leader in the numerous Rotar family at family gatherings or at the grape harvest.

Sofia Rotaru in his youth

Even at school, Sofia was called the "Bukovina nightingale" for her unique vocal abilities. In addition to singing, the girl was actively involved in all-around, participated in all school events and actively mastered folk musical instruments.

Growing popularity

The young performer of Moldovan and Ukrainian folk songs became famous at the age of 15. Starting from 1963, Sofia literally, in the same breath, won several singing competitions of various sizes and in 1964 worked out her first performance in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses.

Singer at the beginning of her career

In Soviet times, such a dizzying career was not possible for every metropolitan resident, not like a young girl from a remote Bukovinian village. It was then that a photograph of an amateur artist appeared on the cover of the central edition of Ukraine. This fact played a huge role later in the personal life and biography of Sofia Rotaru, as noted by journalists trying to find out details about her new husband.

First love, only love

As the artist's sisters say, the girl did not dream of a romantic relationship then. She wanted to make a career as a singer, for which she had to tour a lot and work at concert venues that were very different in terms of equipment and remoteness from the center.

Anatoly Evdokimenko, the son of wealthy parents, completed his military service, having a comfortable place in the regimental band - a musically gifted young man perfectly performed bravura marches and hymns on the trumpet. Quite by chance, the young man caught the eye of a cover with a black-eyed girl smiling provocatively at him from the cover of a central magazine. After reading a note about the "Bukovinian nightingale", the young man in love decided to achieve the location of the young beauty, no matter what.

To do this, Evdokimenko, after demobilization, organizes the Chervona Ruta ensemble and invites the young artist to work in a team created, as it turned out later, just for her. Along the way, he begins to carefully care for Sophia and after 2 years becomes her husband, teacher, mentor and best friend - an irreplaceable and dear person for a long 35 years.

child and work

In 1970, the son Ruslan appeared in the family. According to the memoirs of the artist, her husband was against children at such an early age for a long time - Evdokimenko really wanted to reach world heights in the work of the team he managed, which at first worked on the basis of the Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic. The young wife had to come up with a fantastic story about failures in the female body, thanks to which the stubbornness of the ambitious spouse was broken.

Contrary to popular belief that after the birth of a child, the career of a talented performer is in danger of oblivion, a year after the birth of Ruslan, the ensemble becomes mega-popular in the USSR. The first black-and-white musical is being shot about his work, filled with piercing folk and author's melodies performed by the "Bukovina nightingale" in Ukrainian, Moldovan and Romanian.

With first husband

As Sofia Mikhailovna likes to tell in an interview, her fame would not have become so comprehensive and powerful if not for her family. It was the sisters who replaced little Ruslan's mother for many years of her active touring activity. Sofya Mikhailovna still regrets very much that she did not give birth to Ruslan's sister, sacrificing another child for the sake of her career.

Yes, and in front of her son, for a long time she felt guilty because of the constant absence of the house. As the artist's sisters say, in childhood, the first thing Ruslan asked his mother, who returned from another business trip, was when she should leave again. These naive words were filled with such longing for her beloved and always busy mother that every time before leaving, Rotaru could not find a place for herself.

By the way, the prefix "y" at the end of the name of the beginning singer was advised to add Edita Piekha. According to the singer, this added French charm and mystery to the Moldovan sound.

pinnacle of success

In 1973, Sofia Mikhailovna won the first prize at the Golden Orpheus competition, entered the stage in the finals of the Songs of the Year competition. Since that time, for thirty years, Rotaru has not missed a single issue of the legendary program, making an exception only in 2002 due to the death of her husband. And in the same 1974, the woman became the Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. At that time, the singer was only 26 years old! After 2 years, she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Moldavian SSR, and in 1979 Sofia Mikhailovna became the People's Performer of the republican level.

Sofia Rotaru and Alla Pugacheva

In 1986, the press was told that the Chervona Ruta ensemble was returning to a repertoire consisting of folk songs, and the soloist was leaving for "free bread". The titanic work of Sofia Mikhailovna, in collaboration with the best authors of that time, did their job - the title of People's Artist of the Soviet Union Rotaru was awarded in 1988. By the way, Primadonna received a similar title three years later, which gave rise to the myth of the rivalry between the two greatest singers of the Soviet and post-Soviet era.

Sofia Rotaru now

Years of wear and tear has done its job - the artist is considered one of the most wealthy representatives of show business in the post-Soviet space;

  • private mansion in Pyatikhatki (Koncha-Zaspa);
  • luxury hotel in Yalta;
  • own house on the Black Sea coast;
  • comfortable apartment in Kyiv.

In addition, Rotaru never forgot about her brothers and sisters - all the costs of providing them with decent housing, clothing, and the education of children, Sofya Mikhailovna always took upon herself.

Sofia Rotaru and Vasily Bogatyrev

In addition, the woman devotes a lot of time to her own family - her son works as a concert director of her parent, her daughter-in-law became her producer and closest assistant. The descendants of the national favorite successfully master the domestic and foreign show business in all its manifestations:

  • granddaughter Sophia has been successfully working in the modeling industry for many years;
  • grandson Anatoly is one of the most successful photographers in the high fashion industry.

Now, due to the unfavorable political situation, Sofia Rotaru, whose personal life and biography are inextricably linked with Russia and Ukraine, is trying not to participate in inciting ethnic hatred. So, the artist celebrated her 70th birthday on neutral territory - in Baku. At the same time, there was no news about her new husband in the press, and no.

There were always legends about the artist herself, retold in a whisper in the kitchen and provoked by completely justified situations in the life of the singer:

Sofia Rotaru today

  • moving to Yalta in 1975. There were rumors about the artist's terrible illness - by the age of 30 she was too thin. In fact, Sofia Mikhailovna did not have any tuberculosis. Just at that time, the artist's work was extremely favored by the local secretary of the district party committee, who created the most favorable conditions for living and working for Sofia Mikhailovna and members of her ensemble. The Chernivtsi party apparatus, on the contrary, fearing sanctions from higher authorities, reacted sharply to the growing popularity of the Chervona Ruta ensemble abroad. Then, for the first time, the team became restricted to travel abroad, and firmly settled in the Crimea in state-owned apartments. For 5 years, the ensemble worked out its prosperous existence on the generous Taurian land with numerous tours of the collective farms and state farms of the peninsula;
  • voice problems. Interest in the artist's health once again increased after the release of the film "Soul", filmed by Pugacheva's ex-husband. It was during the period of work on the film that Sofia Mikhailovna lost her voice. Work for wear and tear for many years has done its "dirty" deed and the artist underwent surgery on the vocal cords. The intervention was unsuccessful, the scars on the "working tool" of the artist remained for life.
