Theater of the Russian army. Theater of the Russian Army Repertoire of the Theater of the Russian Army for March

20.06.2020

Beautiful, capacious, youthful

The play by James Goldman "The Lion in Winter" at the Theater of the Russian Army (TsATRA) directed by the late Igor Burdonsky (he, by the way, Stalin's grandson) called "Eleanor and her men" is full of grace, royal luxury and fiery performance.

Briefly about the plot, which for me is a little difficult to understand: in the XII century in an English castle on Christmas Eve, King Henry II of England communicates with his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, who has been imprisoned for 10 years for participating in a conspiracy. The dispute on the stage is about who will become the heir to the throne.

I have, in general, a positive impression and feeling of the general mood of the play and staging due to the English temperament of this piece.

Despite the complex perception of the relationship of the characters, family feuds - looks in one breath, not annoying and addictive, although I do not like plays about the English royal family and the royal court.

There is something New Year's in this drama, from a distance reminiscent of the Soviet film directed by S. Samosonov "Purely English Murder" in its Christmas mood, but almost without a detective note.

It is worth noting the excellent game of the Army Theater actors: the best that I have seen lately from theatrical classics.

Everything is played a bit in the Soviet style, with the exception of the scene of an unconventional connection.

Ludmila Chursina with diamond eyes is as good as in her youth, with a thin neck, slender and organic.

Handsome and male cast, I especially liked the main character King Heinrich performed by the Honored Artist of Russia Sergei Kolesnikov - such expression in the role, exaltation and humor.

The dynamics of the performance reminded me a bit of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (in the English TV movie), but there are a lot of quarrels and hatred, contrasts and expressiveness, after all, this is a tragic farce.

Justice among kings is unnatural. Tsar Peter was also unfair to his wife Sophia.

Eleanor of Aquitana, in my opinion, is a defenseless and unfortunate woman who has fallen into a feud with her relatives.

As for the scenography, nice shades of brown screen saver behind the backs of the characters and some of the costumes.

As for the theater, it retained the sincerity of its joyful well-being and the friendliness of meeting with the audience, as it used to be, when military personnel, military families with children, and the intelligentsia of Moscow constantly went there.

Convenient location next to the Dostoevskaya metro station in the center, a large building, friendly staff - this also creates the impression of a joyful theatrical event.

Amazing adventures of Masha and Vitya

Went to this show with my 10 year old daughter. To be honest, I was very afraid of putting on stage one by one the famous and beloved film about Masha and Vitya. Inevitably, one would have to compare and, most likely, not in favor of the theatrical production. But I was afraid in vain, from the musical about the amazing adventures of Masha and Vitya, my daughter and I were completely delighted.

Very cool musical numbers! The costumes are incredibly beautiful, the dances are staged very interestingly, in general, everything is at a high professional level. Some songs my daughter and I certainly remembered from the film, some seemed new, but maybe we forgot it. In any case, we simply enjoyed it immensely. :)

I always mark for myself the actors and characters that I liked the most. But here I am at a loss, because I liked everything, absolutely every character is charismatic and bright. Even Goblin, who didn't hook me at all in the film, is simply incredible here. When he rolled onto the stage on a hoverboard, my daughter turned to me: “Mom, Leshy is on a hoverboard! LESHIY on the GYROSCOOTER!!!" The child had a culture shock.)))

It is very good that the main characters - not only Masha and Vitya, who are played by adults, not children, but also the cat Matvey, Baba Yaga, Goblin, Kashchey - are completely different from the characters in the film. For some reason, the wild cat reminded me of Elvis Presley, especially when he picked up a guitar. :) Baba Yaga in a fluffy skirt was extraordinarily sweet, and her house on 4 chicken legs with angel wings... well, how can a negative character live in such a wonderful house? :)

In general, you can talk a lot about this performance, but it's better to go and see. My daughter and I received an extraordinary charge of fun and joy, so I recommend watching it!

The war of love is not a hindrance

There is probably no such person in the vastness of our country that who does not know the poem “Wait for me and I will return”, this painfully simple spell with endless repetitions ... it was he who, probably, was often whispered by those who had not the postman looked in, and those who really wanted to survive and return, and so that the very one, the only one, would certainly wait for him ... Konstantin Simonov also had such a unique one, and her name was Valentina Serova ... They had not a simple romance, which began even before the war, Simonov long and stubbornly sought reciprocity, during the war they became husband and wife, then the war ended, they had a daughter, it would seem that now you can live and be happy, only love is over ... and they parted. .. In addition to the daughter, piercing poems remained from this short-lived union, most of which are included in the collection “With You and Without You”, published in 1942.

And in our beloved TsATRA there is a performance of the same name, where Simonov's poems and his songs are excellently performed to the accompaniment of guitar, accordion and piano. In less than two hours you will see everything from the birth of love to its inglorious end. Six actors and one actress, three musicians and only three rows of spectators. Because this time we are not in the hall, but on the stage. And everything happens at arm's length, and you can see everything, everything, everything ... Candles are burning ... The audience froze, afraid to move, so as not to accidentally disturb the action with an alien sound ... In the finale, applause and congratulations on the Holiday!

The best drama theater in the capital!

And we are back at the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army.
And again we are watching "A Midsummer Night's Dream" based on the play ... well, you don’t have to say who, everyone already knows (at least I really hope so :)

This performance is magical. The curtain opens, and before us is a huge stage on which all three layers of reality are placed: a forest inhabited by fairies, elves and gods, and Athens with Theseus, Hippolyta and other inhabitants of the city, and a play that unlucky artisans play in front of their ruler.

And the action begins, on the one hand, classically Shakespearean and medieval clownish, and on the other hand, very, very funny, despite the full correspondence to the text of the distant 16th century. This is not reality, this is a dream in which different layers of reality are mixed up and everything that is possible (and even that which is impossible) is ridiculed. And in the medieval tradition, humor cannot be without contact with erotica, and in this performance it looks either beautiful and organic (Oberon and Titania), or comical and vulgar (scenes with a donkey and Pyramus and Figba). Parents, attention, performance 16+. But still very, very cool :))

And the actors in it are wonderful, although the composition has changed somewhat since our first visit. But Roman Bogdanov remains indispensable in the role of the devil Pack, Oberon's servant, who arranges plot-forming confusion and utters the famous monologue that "The whole world is a theater."

In children's fairy tales there are good fairies, and in fairy tales for adults, fairies are harsh and strict. This is how we see Inna Serpokryl in a duet with Roman Bogdanov.

The composition of the Athenian lovers, it seems to me, has changed. In my opinion, last time we had Timur Eremeev and Yuri Sazonov, and this time - Dmitry Lomakin and Mikhail Danilyuk, but they are also beautiful, even when you have to pacify obstinate lovers (Maria Belonenko, Anfisa Lomakina, if I'm not mistaken).

But, of course, the funniest thing is the parody story of Pyramus and Thisbe in love (the author boldly mocks his own tragedy of Romeo and Juliet :))), played out in the finale of the play by Athenian artisans. On the second time, she, oddly enough, is no less funny than the first.
So, these same artisans wear costumes that are not antique at all, which only adds to the comic and some kind of feeling of a phantasmagoric mixing of times.
But when they change clothes for the play, laughter begins in the hall, unceasing until the end of the performance. It's hard to describe, you have to see it :)
I highly, highly recommend this performance - just the perfect getaway at the end of the working week :)
By the way, the Theater of the Russian Army is also beautiful because it is not necessary to sit on the stalls. This time we watched from the amphitheater - maybe some details are invisible, but the picture as a whole is very clearly visible, and this is also great. And pleases a very good rise in the amphitheater.

The atmosphere of the theater of the Russian Army is permeated with history, the greatness of the time and modern culture. On February 6, the theater celebrates its birthday. It was on this date in 1930 that a show was shown on the theme of events on the border with China called “K.A.L.D.”.

The next 10 years of the theater's life were in constant travel, premieres were staged in military units in different parts of the country - from Leningrad to the Far East. And only in 1940 the theater got its own new building in Moscow.

In the auditorium, the ceiling is decorated with chic frescoes, which were painted by the outstanding avant-garde artist Lev Bruni. The building itself was created in the Stalinist Empire style. It consists of ten above-ground and ten underground floors. The spacious interiors are finished with natural stone and wood. The walls are decorated with picturesque panels and plafonds above the cupboards. Guests are always greeted by the main marble staircase.

TsATRA includes the Big Hall for 1520 seats and the Small Hall for 400 seats. The largest stage in Europe has been built in the theater, which makes it possible to stage battles with cavalry and tanks. The mechanics on the stage have been working perfectly since Soviet times. Rotating huge circles and lifting platforms allow you to turn a flat plane into a mountainous landscape.

The modern repertoire of the theater includes classics and contemporaries such as Shakespeare, Andersen, Sarman, Ostrovsky, A. Tolstoy and many others. Each performance is distinguished by original scenery, brilliant acting by actors and bright directorial work.

The huge five-pointed star - the building of the theater of the Red Army - is a monument not only of theatrical architecture. This is a monument to an era of hard trials and great enthusiasm. It was built from 1934 to 1940. The best muralists took part in the design of the theater: the frescoes of the acoustic ceiling were painted by Lev Bruni, the reinforced concrete curtain-portal was made according to the sketches of the wonderful graphic artist Vladimir Favorsky by his sons Nikita and Ivan. Plafonds above the cupboards in the amphitheater were created by Alexander Deineka and Ilya Feinberg. Picturesque panels by Pavel Sokolov-Skal and Alexander Gerasimov adorned the main marble staircases. Furniture, plafonds and chandeliers were made according to special orders.

The mechanics of the stage, designed by engineer Ivan Maltsin, still works practically without repair - two huge circles rotate, and twelve lifting platforms can turn the stage from the stadium into a mountain landscape, helping theater artists to realize all conceivable and unimaginable ideas of scenographic design of performances.

On September 14, 1940, the new building of the theater was opened with the play "Commander Suvorov" by I. Bakhterev and A. Razumovsky - in the Great Hall. Two weeks later, on the Small Stage, the audience saw Maxim Gorky's Petty Bourgeois. Since then, these scenes have presented the audience with more than three hundred premieres and about forty-five thousand performances.

Leading the Army Theater from 1935 to 1958, Alexei Dmitrievich Popov built it as an artistic and original organism, defining a creative credo and program. His passion for harmony, for creating the artistic integrity of the performance, his ability to place folk scenes in a space that struck the imagination, where human destinies flared up, his simplicity, intelligence, deep human decency, all this determined the level of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army for many years. The performances staged by him - "Commander Suvorov", "A long time ago", "Admiral's Flag", "Stalingraders", "Front", "Wide Steppe", became classics in the history of Russian theatrical art.

The artistic baton from his father was taken over by his son, People's Artist of the USSR Andrei Alekseevich Popov, a wonderful artist, director and teacher who headed the theater from 1963 to 1973.

The main directors of the theater in different years were Y. Zavadsky, A. Dunaev, R. Goryaev, Y. Eremin, L. Kheifets, the main artists - N. Shifrin, P. Belov, I. Sumbatashvili.

Such wonderful performances as "Dance Teacher", "Ocean", "Holy of Holies" and "Drummer", "Death of Ivan the Terrible" and "Paul I", "Mandate" and "Trees die standing" were staged and had success here, "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Sevastopol March", many other plays - classical and modern. Chekhov, Dostoevsky and Ostrovsky, as well as Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, Moliere, Balzac, Brecht, Dreiser, Eduardo de Filippo did not leave the repertory posters of the Big and Small Stages.
