On Thursday, October 29, opera singer, People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Hvorostovsky will perform at the State Kremlin Palace. The concert will be held as part of the Hvorostovsky and Friends program, to which he invites famous performers from all over the world.

The first concert within the framework of this program took place in 2006, and then it became an annual event. Hvorostovsky's partners were American singer Renee Fleming, Korean Sumi Yo, German tenor Jonas Kaufman. In 2013, he celebrated his 50th birthday with this program.

This year, together with Hvorostovsky, mezzo-soprano from Latvia Elina Garancha will appear on the Kremlin stage.

The 39-year-old singer has performed at the Vienna State Opera, sang in The Barber of Seville at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and has recorded numerous classical roles, including Andronicus in Vivaldi's Grammy-winning Bayazet.

On the Kremlin stage they will perform arias and duets from operas by Verdi, Bellini and Tchaikovsky.

The conductor of the program will be Konstantin Orbelyan; the orchestra of the Moscow theater "Novaya Opera" participates in the concert. On November 4, the Russia 1 TV channel will show a recording of the Moscow program.

“Hvorostovsky and friends” in the Kremlin is the first performance of the singer in Moscow after he announced the cancellation of all summer concerts in June of this year. Doctors discovered a brain tumor in Hvorostovsky, and he needed treatment. On his official website, it was stated that the singer's voice data is normal; he later, through a representative, withdrew financial assistance from charitable organizations.

After a course of treatment in early September, Hvorostovsky began rehearsals, and on September 25 he sang the part of Count di Luna in Giuseppe Verdi's Il trovatore at the Metropolitan Opera.

The part of Lenora that day was sung by Anna Netrebko. Critics and viewers highly appreciated the duet of Russian vocalists. Hvorostovsky appeared on the Meta stage twice more; the broadcast of these performances could be seen in many countries of the world.

Then he wrote down an appeal to his fans, inviting them to a concert in the Kremlin.

In Russia, Hvorostovsky, after treatment, performed for the first time on October 11 at the closing of the New Wave 2015 contest, which was held in Sochi. The next day it became known that the singer was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky - "for merits in the development of national culture and art, many years of fruitful activity."

Now the singer's work schedule is scheduled for several months in advance.

On November 2, he will present the Hvorostovsky and Friends program - again with Elina Garancha - in the Oktyabrsky Hall in St. Petersburg, after which he will perform in Minsk and with a charity concert in Ufa (November 18). In December and January he has the role of Eugene Onegin in Tchaikovsky at the Royal Opera House in London, and in February he will return to New York as Count di Luna.

Dmitry Hvorostovsky invites friends again ...

This time, Dmitry introduced to the Moscow public another artist from the galaxy of stars of the world opera stage - one of the most famous and sought-after opera artists in the world - the Argentine tenor Marcelo Alvarez, whom critics call one of the contenders for the role of the "fourth" tenor after Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras . The artist is one of the performers whose appearance on stage the audience meets with constant delight. The opera singer, who has not only an amazing voice, but also charisma, stage charm and amazing artistry, shines on the stages of the legendary theaters La Scala, Covent Garden, and the Metropolitan Opera.

The first concert from the Hvorostovsky and Friends cycle (with the participation of Rene Fleming) was presented in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2006. In 2008-2009 several more concerts from this cycle took place - a duet of Dmitry Hvorostovsky and the "Korean soprano" Sumi Yo, a joint performance by Dmitry with the leading soloist of the Metropolitan Opera Theater Sondra Radvanovsky, with the famous German tenor Jonas Kaufman, as well as with the recognized master of the world opera stage Ildar Abdrazakov. At the end of 2010, Dmitry introduced the audience to two of the brightest stars - Ekaterina Siurina (soprano) and Charles Castronovo (tenor), and on December 3, 2011, Dmitry performed with the famous tenor Marcello Giordani on the main stage of the country. In 2013-2015 a whole galaxy of artists of the world opera stage performed on the stage of the State Kremlin Palace, “his friends” were: Elina Garancha, Ramon Vargas, Barbara Frittoli, Aida Garifullina and many others. On June 19, 2013, another significant event took place in the artist's creative biography - Dmitry Hvorostovsky performed for the first time with Anna Netrebko in a joint concert on Red Square.

Marcelo Alvarez is known throughout the world as one of the best tenors of his time. He performs with constant success on the most famous stages of the world. After his European debut, which took place in 1995 on the stage of the Teatro La Fenice in the opera La Sonnambula, Alvarez began to perform lyrical parts: Werther, Faust, Edgar (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alfred (La Traviata), Duke (Rigoletto ”) and Rudolph (“La Boheme”). In 2005 he made his debut as Gustavo (Un ballo in maschera) at the Covent Garden Theatre, in 2006 as Cavaradossi (Tosca) on the same stage and as Manrico (Il trovatore) at the Teatro Regio. in Parma. Alvarez first performed the part of José in Carmen in Toulouse in 2007, and the part of Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur in Turin in 2009. In the same year he made his debut in the title role of André Chénier in Paris, then as Radamès in Aida at the Covent Garden Theater and the Metropolitan Opera.

In the 2012-2013 season, Alvarez again received an engagement from the Metropolitan Opera, where he performed in a new production of Un ballo in maschera. In the same opera, he sang at La Scala and then re-sang the role of André Chénier in Turin. In addition, he added a new role to his repertoire - Enzo Grimaldo in a new production of Ponchielli's La Gioconda. Among the engagements for the 2013-2014 season are the role of Radamès in Aida at the Paris Opera, the title role in André Chenier at the Metropolitan Opera and the Paris Opera Garnier, the role of Radamès in Aida and other roles. In the 2014-2015 season, he returns to Paris with the opera Tosca and at the Metropolitan Opera with Rural Honor and Pagliacci.

In the autumn of 2011, in Paris, he performed for the first time the part of Don Alvaro in the opera The Force of Destiny. He appeared as Manrico Alvarez at the Metropolitan Opera, the Covent Garden Theatre, the Zurich Opera House, on the stage of the Arena di Verona, and as Cavaradossi on the stage of La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, the Deutsche Oper (Berlin), as well as in Turin and Parma. As Jose, he was applauded in London, Florence, Valencia, Rome, Tokyo and Zurich. In 2012, Alvarez sang in "Aida" at the Metropolitan Opera, and in the Arena di Verona he has already performed almost all the parts of his repertoire.

Spectators all over the world are looking forward to new productions and concerts with the participation of Marcelo Alvarez. Such eminent directors as Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Meta, Claudio Abbado collaborate with the performer, and inimitable, full of strength and passion, refined beauty and harmony duets with Rene Fleming, Anna Netrebko, Daniela Dessy, Angela Georgiou, Mariela Devia are remembered for a long time to those fans of the opera who were lucky enough to be in the hall at that moment. The repertoire of the Argentine artist includes the best operas by Giuseppe Verdi, Charles Gounod, Giacomo Puccini, Georges Bizet, Gaetano Donizetti, Jules Massenet.

Marcelo is known for his thorough work on the role, the ability to fully concentrate, paying attention to even minor details. The audience that came to the concert at the Moscow Conservatory will be completely imbued with the emotions and feelings of the characters convincingly and powerfully presented by Marcelo Alvarez, having received unforgettable pleasure from the performance of the performer.

This performance of the singer, who for the second year with amazing courage and dignity resists a serious illness - a brain tumor, was expected with special excitement. Due to an illness, the singer was forced to cancel his debut appearance in the Bolshoi Theater's performance of Verdi's Don Carlos in early December, and then cancel other opera performances until the end of the current theatrical season.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky in January, the audience of the London "Covent Garden" will not hear in the "Il Trovatore", and in April there will be no "Eugene Onegin" with his participation on the stage of the New York Metropolitan Opera. But the singer promised not to leave concert performances and, as planned, arrived in Russia with a blitz of New Year's Eve concerts.

The huge hall of the State Kremlin Palace met Dmitry Hvorostovsky standing and with a deafening ovation. In response, Dmitry Hvorostovsky smiled touchingly. "Thank you for coming to listen and enjoy classical music..." the singer addressed the audience from the stage before introducing the colleagues with whom he shared this performance.

The Kremlin concert became an anniversary for Hvorostovsky. Ten years ago, the popularly beloved and world-famous baritone decided to represent in Russia those, mostly foreign performers, with whom he performs together at the best venues on the planet, but whose names are practically unknown to us. This is how the multi-part project "Hvorostovsky & Friends" appeared.

So, among those who have already been included in the friendly list of singers over the years, there are two famous American sopranos - the unsurpassed Rene Fleming and the spectacular Sondra Radvanovsky, the phenomenal Korean Sumi Jo, the Italian tenor Marcello Giordani, the outstanding German tenor Jonas Kaufman and the beautiful Latvian singer Elina Garancha .

Kneeling down, Dmitry handed a bouquet of roses to his mother, who, together with her father, was madly worried about her son all evening

This time, Dmitry Hvorostovsky invited the famous Argentine tenor Marcelo Alvarez, and also invited the soloist of the Bolshoi soprano Dinara Alieva to share their male duet. Konstantin Orbelyan has traditionally taken the place at the conductor's stand of the Novaya Opera theater orchestra in Moscow.

From the very first number of the concert - a tercet from Verdi's Il trovatore, it became obvious that this would be not just a wonderful vocal evening, but also an incredibly emotional communication between the performers and the audience. The first section was entirely devoted to opera. Dinara Aliyeva flashed Manon's aria from Puccini's "Manon Lescaut" Act IV, demonstrating that the Bolshoi has worthy performers of the most difficult role in the opera, the premiere of which Anna Netrebko made a historical event with her participation in the theater. Marcelo Alvarez amazingly sang the final aria of one of his crown heroes Cavaradossi from Puccini's Tosca, also.

But the apogee of the "opera divertissement" was the duet of Alvarez and Hvorostovsky - Carlos and Rodrigo from that very "Don Carlos" by Verdi that was so expected at the Bolshoi. And not only because the vocals were impeccable. The duet, which is crowned with the heroic oath of friendship "You who sow in hearts", was overflowing with sizzling emotionality and impressed with a clear appeal to absolutely real and very personal experiences.

The second part of the gala concert seemed to be built in a lighter genre. Mostly arias from the zarzuela (Spanish national operetta) and Neapolitan songs sounded. Dmitri Hvorostovsky incredibly sensually performed Passione ("Passion") Volente - Tagliaferi and Parlami d amore Mariu ("Why did you lower your eyes") Bixio. And towards the end of the famous song di Capua O sole mio, the soloists created an elegant joke "for three".

The hall went into ecstatic applause again. But the encores were concise. Marcelo Alvarez performed Leandro's hit romance from Sorozabal's zarzuela "The Hostess of the Port Tavern". And Dmitri Hvorostovsky "Dark Eyes". And then the song, which has long become almost kitsch, turned into an absolutely infernal epistole: "... I wouldn't have suffered like this, / I would have lived my life smiling. / You ruined me, black eyes, / Carried away my happiness forever." Every breath, look, every word was filled with sadness, sadness and ... fear. Dmitry took a bouquet of roses from that sea of flowers that the fans presented to him during the concert, and, kneeling down, handed it to his mother, who, together with her father, was madly worried about her son all evening. The audience left completely shocked. Marcelo Alvarez remarked backstage after the concert: "The fight against the disease has made Dmitry an even greater singer."

Now every appearance of Dmitry Hvorostovsky on stage is more than just a performance. It is a victory and a message that reveals the soul.

This Sunday, December 18, Dmitry will also sing together with Marcelo and Dinara in St. Petersburg. And on December 22 he will give a solo concert in his native Krasnoyarsk and on the 28th in Yekaterinburg.
