A controversial vocalist from a controversial band at a controversial stage in his life - in a paradoxical interview with an odious magazine!

Alexander Malenkov

Nikolai Gulakov

So, Vadim Samoilov, musician, former vocalist of Agatha Christie, 53 years old. What creative and life stage are you at now?

This period can be called "post-against". Agatha Christie is two-thirds of my life. Since 2010, I took a creative break to rethink everything. It turned out that I have a lot of unrealized things. Recordings from college times, compositions that were not included in Agatha, and things that were published only for their own. And, on the one hand, you want to step into something new, on the other hand, you need to deal with these anchors. To show again who I am is not an easy task. A lot has happened in my life too. In recent years, I have approached some public institutions, I began to worry about the fate of the fatherland, people and humanity as a whole. Exploring myself, I wondered what a person is in general. These topics - metaphysics, psychology - are of great interest to me now.

Do you think you will still be able to create something no less significant than "Agatha Christie"?

"Agatha" - it was still not my individual self-expression. Of course, there is a huge part of me there, but there is still a lot left in me that asks to come out. I think I still have something to say. While I'm trying to get rid of the feeling of competition with myself, but we'll see. Either way, something will work. At least in terms of understanding yourself.

You have a solo album coming up. Tell about him.

Yes, the album is on its way. It has three vectors. This is not included in Agatha Christie, this is my once unpublished and this is something completely new. And I'm trying to fit it all into one concept. As a fan of 70s rock music, I try to think in terms of concept albums. I have one in my head, during October I will work on it and after that I will publish it.

Let's dive into history. You formally belong to the first wave of Russian rock of the 80s, but your heyday came in the 90s. Did you associate yourself with Russian rock?

Like it or not, you have to associate. It was a continuation of tradition. Maybe not "Chayfa" and "Chizha" ... For me, Russian rock is the groups "Urfin Deuce" and the early "Nautilus Pompilius". But the influence of Western music on us is also noticeable.

What bands have influenced you?

In general, the first thing that shocked me greatly was Soviet film music. The works of Artemiev, Tukhmanov, Petrov, Zatsepin, Rybnikov are grandiose in terms of musical dramaturgy. The next shock for me was psychedelic music: Yes, Tangerine Dream, Genesis, Pink Floyd.

But what about The Cure?

Well, it was more connected with the then appearance of Gleb, 1988, let's say, the year. We painted the eyes after Butusov and Kinchev, then we painted all these arrows. To be honest, I hadn't heard The Cure yet.

In general, is your appearance a part of self-expression for you?

No. Of course, I have some predilections for color, some kind of asceticism, but I cannot call myself a fashionista. I want to once again thank my dear wife for solving these problems for me.

You said that the band was not ready for the wild success in the 90s. Tell in details.

Imagine three guys from the city of Asbest, Sverdlovsk region. They played, played, reached Sverdlovsk on their own, then to Moscow. Simple, ridiculous provincial guys, we just wanted to be heard. We didn't realize it had terrible touring schedules, terrible media attention, gossip, crazy fans... We weren't ready for this part. Fans always found out where our studio was, and every exit from it became an evacuation. Drunk female fans were dragged out from under the wheels of my car, which was thoroughly washed with their fur coats. Chase, broken windows in buses. But we did not have close contact with the fans: it was too frightening community. We were modest... Yes, I still feel like a modest provincial youth. But this also protected me from numerous promiscuous relationships at that time.

And the classics of the genre? Such letters came: I have a child from you, hello?

They came. The most extreme letter was from a fan that she had a child from Gleb. And we calculated that in order for this to be true, Gleb had to be on tour in Kharkov at the age of thirteen.

They say you were treated for drug addiction. Do you want to tell your story for the edification of youth?

Yes, in the 90s I was chemically addicted to opiates, and for a couple of years of my life it had a strong effect on me. Everything that was then available, we tried in company with many: FSB officers, actors, musicians, bankers ... Then I just stopped. Now I often speak at rehabilitation centers where guys are being treated for drug addiction and alcoholism, sometimes I even sit in their psychotherapeutic groups and tell my story. The image of "Agatha Christie" as finished drug addicts, of course, is exaggerated, but there was such an experience - why deny it? An important nuance: then at least everything was natural. What they are now using is synthetics, which sometimes leads to death from the first dose. It is better not to even try, we do not know the resources of our body. I saw thugs who instantly lost their will and self-control, and at the time of the withdrawal syndrome they could be twisted into a ram's horn.

Can doping help creativity?

I can only speak for myself. I didn’t manage to compose anything sensible under doping. Everything I did was with a clean head.

Did the drug addict aesthetic inspire you?

If we take, for example, the song "Opium", none of us then knew what it was. The song is generally inspired by Vertinsky. Aesthetics of the fall as such. Eternal theme.

When you performed at our event in the summer, you addressed the audience with the call “Forgive each other!”. This sounded somewhat unexpected. What did you mean?

For some reason, I am now drawn to this kind of message. I hope I'm not being too intrusive. I watch the world and people, I watch my life and I understand that we all need to learn to live as good neighbors with each other. Look, everywhere - in the media, in business, in politics, in the housing office - everyone just shreds each other. At the same time, everyone wants to be happy. I think the first step to changing this paradigm is forgiveness. Even your enemy. I would not like to sound like a religious missionary, but the absence of bitterness, anger when views differ is an important key. These grievances against each other, they devour us.

Would you like to make peace with Gleb?

Of course, everyone would be better off. And it's not just about reconciliation, I would like to see clarity between us sooner or later. Still, we are two brothers, a complex relationship, hidden from everyone. Senior and junior. We do not even understand everything ourselves, but we would like to understand. I would like, in the end, to feel some kind of family synergy. I hope that sooner or later we will come to this.

Did you inspire each other?

We complemented each other, and therefore inspired. And I would not belittle the role of Sasha Kozlov here, because when we were left alone, the third side that balanced us disappeared. Because creatively - you'll laugh - we had a vote. We jokingly called ourselves the "primary composer cell". Will there be a solo in this song? Voted. It was a very convenient formula.

Is it possible to maintain friendly relations with a person whose convictions on important issues you do not share?

I think it's necessary. We all really need this. Now, for example, some scold musicians who travel to Ukraine, but I, on the contrary, think that this is very correct and very important. This is a transfer of energy that says that, in spite of everything, we are friends.

Are you still a fan of the DPR or have you cooled off?

I'm not exactly a fan. I just wanted to see with my own eyes what people want, why it happened. And I go there from time to time and will continue to go. As well as I would go to Ukraine with pleasure if there was no criminal case against me there. I would definitely go. When I perform in Rostov-on-Don, in Belgorod, in these parts, I know that spectators with whole families often come from Kiev. And also, when I perform in the Donbass at public events where there are many thousands of people, at every concert I propose to convey fraternal greetings to the Ukrainian people. And you will be surprised, but everyone supports it, all these thousands of people.

Your work is decadence, irony, sex, and if blood and violence, then some cartoonish, Tarantino, solid quotes. In short, postmodernism.

Yes, that is right.

At the same time, you sang to the fighters in the DPR, inspiring them to exploits. Somehow it doesn't fit in my head. It's the same as if Kharms spoke to the soldiers of the Red Army.

I understand what you mean, but it doesn't matter what you sing. It is important that you, as a person, came to support them, just to please people in their isolation. Yes, and I'll tell you: these are normal people, also ironic. To die, so with music.

At different times in your life, I'm sure you had different priorities. What have you come to now, what is the main thing?

The main thing is the very opportunity to live life, to feel. Worlds change, man remains. Money, gadgets - this is the whole world. And the value of life is greater than the value of the world. All this tinsel - things, food, everything momentary - interests me less. The singularity is coming, and I hope that the energy of conflict will grow into something more creative.

According to the results of 1995, the group headed the main Russian charts, and most influential Russian music publications called it the "group of the year". At the same time, "Opium" was negatively perceived by some of the fans familiar with "Agatha" from the time of "Deceit and Love" and "Decadence", who accused the musicians of commercialization.
On March 1, 2001, the author of music, keyboard player and one of the founders of the group, Alexander Kozlov, died of atherosclerosis.

2010 - Courts after the breakup of the group

In March 2010, Gleb Samoilov headed the group The Matrixx, which also included Dmitry Khakimov and Konstantin Bekrev. Vadim resumed his musical activity only in 2013, when he performed with a new program at the celebration of the City Day in Yekaterinburg.
The first few years after the collapse of Agatha, by mutual agreement, her songs were not performed by the brothers separately. An exception was made for the song "Tore the Dream" from the Thriller album, which was especially dear to Gleb. She entered the repertoire of the group "The Matrixx". At solo evenings, Gleb also performed some songs from the Agatha Christie albums that were not included in the group's concert repertoire: They Fly, Crawl, etc.

In February 2015, the Samoilov brothers performed for the first time with two "nostalgic" concerts in St. Petersburg and Moscow. After that, the previous restrictions on the performance of Agatha's songs were lifted: some of them entered the repertoire of The Matrixx, and Vadim Samoilov went on tour with the Agatha Christie program. All hits. However, in May 2015, Gleb Samoilov made a statement that he did not assume that Vadim would perform songs written or previously performed by him, and accused his brother of embezzling a fee for "nostalgic" concerts. Later, a message appeared on the official website of The Matrixx that the conflict between the brothers had been settled, but a year later Gleb filed a lawsuit against Vadim, accusing his brother of copyright infringement and demanding that he be banned from performing songs written by Gleb. The case was considered in the Savelovsky Court of Moscow on September 21, 2016, as a result, the claim was rejected in full: the court agreed with the opinion of the defendant's lawyers, who stated that Vadim had related rights to the Agatha Christie songs he performed. Gleb appealed to the Moscow City Court with an appeal, but in March 2017 the decision of the Savelovsky Court was upheld. In a lawsuit on financial claims, the court sided with Gleb: on April 27, 2017, he decided to collect a debt in the amount of 4,300,000 rubles from Vadim Samoilov.

On December 22, 2017, Vadim Samoilov presented a new track "Somewhere Between", recorded to the music of the late Alexander Kozlov. Lyrics and arrangements belong to Vadim. However, the composition was presented (and posted on the Internet) as a work of the group "Agatha Christie", on the cover of the single it is also indicated in large size: "AGATA CHRISTIE". This is the first precedent for not using old material, but for the release by one of the Samoilov brothers of a new composition under the banner of Agatha Christie. Wiki

I was prompted to write this material by a school notebook filled with small children's handwriting, which I found in my apartment. An unknown 17-year-old girl from Rostov-on-Don shed tears for my ex-lover for a year. “I remember you promised to return. I still can't forget that night. You said that you love, that you have never met a girl more beautiful than me ... In front of me lies a straight razor. I circled today's date with a red felt-tip pen. If I don't hear your voice in two weeks, I will do...” - the diary broke off at these lines. Apparently, the young woman from Rostov decided to remind the idol about herself in this way, so she sent a parcel with sentimental revelations to the address of the group's fan club. The notebook got to the addressee and ... turned out to be abandoned behind the back of my sofa.
It is unlikely that I will be able to convince this and thousands of other girls, sobbing to the gloomy melodies of the Ural rock band, that none of these musicians is worth our tears. But to dispel the myth of a carefree, cloudless, happy existence next to rock stars, I hope I can do it.
His name is Vadim Samoilov. Status - rock musician. Group - "Agatha Christie".

Lantern of love from a beggar woman

In a week you are going on a business trip to the cities of Russia with musicians from the bands Bravo, Lyapis Trubetskoy, Agatha Christie, - the deputy editor-in-chief told me.
"My God! How will I communicate with these people? Drugs, alcohol, girls - that's what awaits me on this trip, ”I had no doubts ... Naturally, I didn’t even think about any novels.
It will always be so: those who love us,
They cut off our wings and put out the light.
And space takes revenge on us, takes the stars away
Where people have no way.

The first city where our train stopped was Nizhny Novgorod. The hour of the night. A press conference began in a specially equipped car. Tired, sleepy artists, who were still able to crawl to the press center, were seated at a round table. He was sitting across from me. A cloudy look, a cigarette in his teeth, long hair falling over his face - I never liked such men. But here something hooked and strong enough. We didn't even exchange a word that night. But the next morning, the first person I encountered on the platform was OH.
“Hi, my name is Ira,” I began.
- Very nice ... - he brushed his long hair from his face.
To my shame, I did not know his name. He, in turn, did not introduce himself. The group "Agatha Christie" I clearly associated with the two Samoilov brothers and with the song "I'm on you like in a war." I also remembered that one of the soloists is called Gleb. That's just who? So it took several hours to find out HIS name.
- In the evening we have a concert, be sure to come, then we'll sit somewhere, - he suggested.
However, I had an interview scheduled that day with another artist. I did not postpone the meeting for the sake of the soloist of “AK”. After the concert, Vadik Samoilov returned with a new acquaintance.
That evening, the touring people drank heavily. Everyone gathered on the platform. At midnight our train was supposed to start. There was only HIM.
- Gleb, where is Vadik? - I tried to stir up another soloist of "Agatha Christie".
“Your Vadik is fucking,” Gleb muttered.
Ten minutes before the train left, a missing rock musician showed up. The Nizhny Novgorod girl ran after him, her eyes wet with tears.
- Will we see you again? she sobbed.
Vadik did not hear her anymore.
- Where did you go, I didn't see you at the concert? I'm terribly bored, and I'm offended, - Samoilov turned to me.
Until seven in the morning we talked in a smoky vestibule.
Are you done with drugs already? I asked.
- For a long time. I haven’t taken anything for a whole year, ”he assured (although at that time he didn’t even think about getting off doping).
A few days later our train made a stop in Kazan. We walked along the Kazan Arbat, drank expensive alcoholic cocktails, and Vadik really wanted to give me a memorable gift.
"Unfortunately, there's not much to choose from," he complained.
We saw a beggar at the station. She was selling flashlights.
“This is for you,” he handed me a small lantern. - When you fall asleep without me, turn it on, and I will immediately remember you. So we can constantly maintain a kind of cosmic connection through this toy. And we will definitely celebrate the New Year together. With banal candles and a bottle of champagne...
Two weeks later, my business trip came to an end. This is the end of a beautiful romance. I left for Moscow. He is in Kemerovo. We celebrated the New Year in different companies.

How much money can go into debt, drugs and parties?

Oh, decadence, chance encounters
Table, preference, burning candles.
A record is playing on the gramophone,
Goyas sit and listen to Sting.
Splashing rum and-and-and cocaine
Yellow fingers in thin nostrils.
You propose to leave together...

The fact that show business stars bathe in money is another myth. Vadik Samoilov had a chronic shortage of funds. A stable salary - three thousand dollars plus fees from concerts (about $ 600) went to debts, drugs and parties.
The fact that rock stars of this magnitude do not have money is also confirmed by the fact that none of the musicians of Agatha Christie, during ten years of living in the capital, has been able to buy their own apartment. Vadik Samoilov sometimes could not afford to rent even a one-room apartment on the outskirts of the city. A personal car was a luxury for musicians, not a means of transportation. The second soloist of the group, Gleb Samoilov, still travels around the city by means of the Moscow subway.
Once I happened to meet the first director of the rock band "Agatha Christie" Elena Chistova.
- In fact, the whole group is seriously ill. Each of them has been through a lot. “Agatha Christie” is a real family, sick first of all with each other. Once Gleb told me such a thing: "We were lonely people, we are lonely and will remain." They were constantly in depression, which each of them relieved with alcohol and drugs. They did not notice the situation when external factors began to control them. This is the tragedy of all provincials. Although I thought they were not a province. While the guys lived in Sverdlovsk, they were normal people. As soon as they were in Moscow, relations with local producers began, fame appeared, and breaking immediately began. They felt that the capital was at their feet, that they could take off any fashion model and, in general, they could do whatever they wanted. Popularity is always a test. They couldn't stand it. Broke down. Then drugs appeared, and Vadik broke up with his wife Tanya, who for many years was his fighting devoted girlfriend. He exchanged a family with a child for an affair with a girl who was not worth even Tanya's little finger. Now the growing pains have gone a little, it has gone very hard, none of the rock and roll players have been sick so badly.
By the way, Vadim Samoilov, like no one else, considered himself a superstar. Once we were not allowed into one of the closed restaurants in Moscow.
“Young man, entry here is only by club cards,” the guard tried to explain.
- My business card is my face, - Vadim was offended.
- And who are you? - the guard was surprised.
After these words, Vadik made such a scandal that the director of the institution was forced to personally apologize to the rock star.
“They will still regret the incident, my foot will not be here anymore,” said Samoilov.
He always had such an attitude towards others. Vadim perceived any refusal “with hostility”. He could forever part with a person if he did not lend him money (he always borrowed at least $ 1,000) or did not let him stay for the night.
He often cursed at journalists who attend presentations for the sake of a “free” buffet. He himself did not miss a single such event. And if his acquaintances gathered at the club, it was a rare case when Vadim paid from his own wallet.
On March 1, in the Agatha Christie group, Alexander Kozlov, the keyboardist of the group, died of a heart attack.
- I thought that I would be the first to leave, - a familiar smoky voice was heard in the telephone receiver, and I was unpleasantly shocked by the ... jealousy that sounded in his intonations, - this is unfair, he was the best.
Then I will be surprised more than once how Vadim easily put himself on the same level with musicians whose fame has already been tested by time. “Do you want to marry me? he exclaimed. “Do you want to be like Nastya Bashlacheva when I also go nowhere?” Samoilov even chose a date for his death - the day after the planned receipt of the Ovation award, he was going to commit suicide and kept telling me about it, rolling his eyes tragically, for a whole month.

“I swear I will never hurt you again”

I'm on you like in a war
And in the war, as on you,
But I'm tired, the fight is over
I take port wine, I go home.
The battle is over, the fire has withered,
And there's nothing left...

Our love relationship resumed as unexpectedly as it ended. I had a birthday. Vadik was on tour in St. Petersburg. At seven in the morning the phone rang in my apartment. On the threshold stood a young man with a huge bouquet of roses. “This is from Vadim,” he said.
Then there were pretentious restaurants, expensive perfumes, stupid plush toys that could hardly fit in my apartment, endless declarations of love ...
One day he came to me with a bouquet of white wedding callas.
"Then, on the train, I couldn't afford to stay with you, I was sitting on... well, I had no right to deceive you," he declared. Now I need someone I can trust. I feel really bad right now... and lonely... I swear I'll never hurt you again.
Why did I believe him? Apparently, she bought into a stingy male tear on his cheek. Then I did not know yet that Vadik likes to cry much more often than any girl. And not always his tears are sincere.
“Listen,” he remarked after a while, “maybe I can stay with you? We will be together all the time, and there will be no need to rent an apartment!” A week later he moved his things. Together with the Samoilovs, the corresponding color of a rock musician came to my house - a collection of foreign rock discs, a home theater with huge speakers, phone calls with female voices, an incredible amount of alcohol, a constant lack of money and a depressive mood.
- Let's celebrate our first day in a special way, - suggested Vadik and put on the film "Doors". - Let's live tonight according to the script of this film.
It was a strange feeling that was not limited to one night. All our further communication has become a copy of the story of Jimmy Morrison. Vadik always dreamed of being like him.
- I really want to die young, like Jim Morrison, I probably don’t even have to do anything for this. I feel that I have very little left ... - he constantly repeated.
The first depressive breakdown in the leader of "Agatha Christie" happened a week later. It was a month of rehabilitation after long-term use of hard drugs. Daily Vadik consumed a dozen tablets, washing down the medicine with alcohol. But liquor did not produce the effect that usually came after a dose of white powder. Once, after drinking half a liter of vodka, Samoilov began to destroy furniture and shout:
- Why are you silent? Or do you like what I do? So know that I don't love you! Can't you see, I just don't have a place to live, so I moved in with you. I used you!
That day he left. That same night, on the phone, I heard: “Hi, why are you so unhappy?”
"Don't you remember what you said to me before leaving?" - Hearing his unflappable voice, I just couldn't believe my ears!
“Yes, I didn’t say anything at all,” genuine surprise was felt in his voice.
I repeated his words. After a short pause, he said in a trembling voice:
- I am a sick person, I often have breakdowns. Get used to it... And in general, I specifically said so, don't you understand? I decided that you would be better off without me, and if I leave like this, slamming the door, and you will think that I am the last bastard, it will be easier for you to forget me. But I did not calculate the strength of my love for you, I cannot live without you!
“The devil knows,” I thought, not yet devastated by his constant lies, “what if this is true?” And I forgave.
Then a strange relationship developed between us. Vadik often disappeared. For a long time. He could not come, not call for a week. Sometimes the director of "Agatha Christie" cut off my phone in search of a soloist ten minutes before the start of the next concert. Usually the performance of the group was postponed for an hour and a half. The same situation developed with tours. Because of Vadim, the departure of the plane or train was delayed.
Once Vadik Samoilov prepared the soundtrack for the film by Sergei Bodrov "Sisters". And he did it in a completely empty apartment (the owners moved out of town) and all alone.
- Kid, I'm sorry, earned, - he called a few days later. - I've been out of cigarettes for a long time. Please bring something to drink and eat.
When I entered the apartment, Vadik was sitting on the floor at the computer. The white wallpaper was splattered with scarlet paint. “We are leaving here, tired of sleeping on the floor and starving,” he said that day. What he did in this apartment with wallpaper, I never found out. The soundtrack came out very late.

"Are you ready? Let's die together!"

Kill me, kill yourself
You won't change a thing
This fairy tale has no end
You won't change anything.

- When will I finally die, - this is how the morning of a rock musician usually began.
“Vadik's psyche is severely undermined. Several years of drug intoxication did not pass without a trace, - I slowly but surely "seeed the light". He never hides his emotions. It feels like he lacks adrenaline. He's crazy - he talks about death all the time."
I still remember our trip to a boarding house near Moscow, where another quarrel took place. I slammed the door and ran out into the street.
- Detain this girl, - he shouted to the guards of the boarding house from the window.
On the way to the bus stop, his black Audi screeched to a halt in front of me.
“Never do that, I’m not a boy anymore, it’s hard for me to go through such stresses,” Vadik yelled and forced me into the car.
We set off. He pressed the gas pedal to the floor. When the speedometer needle went off scale for 150, Vadik abruptly pressed the brakes. The car went into a ditch.
- This is how I “broke off” from the traffic cops, and hid in this ravine, - he calmly commented on his act.
He could rush along the oncoming lane at a speed of 250 km per hour and shout: “Well, are you ready? Let's die together!"
Once we listened to Vyacheslav Butusov's song "Lonely Bird".
- It's about me, - said Vadik.
“Lonely bird, you fly high...// And only a madman was able to fall in love like that...// Rise after you,// And crash together with you...” - was heard from the speakers.
- Shall we prove our love to each other? He grabbed my arm and pulled me to the balcony. - Let's jump together.
Vadik stood on the railing of the balcony. I looked down. Eighth floor. She turned her gaze to Samoilov. Another music was coming from the room. "I don't love you, I don't love you..." - the words of the new song "Agatha Christie". At that moment, something twitched in my mind.
- If you want, jump alone, I'm leaving, - I snapped.
He silently climbed down from the balcony and sighed, “I knew it, you never loved me. I was an expensive toy in your hands.”
“But he’s right,” I thought somehow indifferently. My God, how much time and effort had to be spent on it in order to finally understand how useless it was killed. Killed by an imaginary love affair with a famous person.
By inertia, I still hoped that everything could be fixed. In addition, my mother, who rarely admires my young people, was fascinated by Vadik at first sight.
“It’s immediately obvious that he’s an adult, a decent person,” she repeated to me.
However, the modesty and decency of this man immediately disappeared outside my parents' apartment.
Vadim Samoilov, with his feigned charm, could make a favorable impression on anyone he met, and many girls jumped into his bed without even thinking.
- You have a good choice, - employees of the Rice-Lees's company shared with me, with whom the Ural rock group worked. - All our women's team liked Vadik, many tried to have an affair with him, but everything was limited to bed ...
And he quite unexpectedly, at the suggestion of Kostya Kinchev, became interested in religion. Being unbaptized, Vadik began to attend church services every morning, talked for hours with priests, and surrounded himself with religious literature. And for me every day his presence became more and more unbearable. In the end, we came to the same conclusion - it's time to leave.
- Can I live here for a while, I have nowhere to go, I have no money at all, - he cried.
We were sitting in the kitchen. We drank cheap port wine.
“You didn’t understand anything, I don’t know how to prove to you that I had sincere feelings for you, if you want, I’ll burn my shirt,” Vadik began.
- I don't care, - then I already learned to react indifferently to such statements.
I did not have time to gasp when the sleeve of an expensive silk shirt flared up on Vadik. Samoilov began to beat down the flames with his hands and received minor burns.
- I see it's not enough for you? - he flared up like a match, noticing my indifference, and brought the lighter to his hair.
A good half of the hair burned in a matter of seconds.
- Aren't you scared for me? Doesn't it hurt? - shouted Vadik. The final chord of the evening was a computer thrown out of the window.
The next day, late in the evening, Vadik called me on my cell:
- Irish, I feel bad, could you not come home for two hours until I put myself in order?
Women's intuition failed me that day. I was up to my ears with work and easily agreed to his request. Almost immediately, another call rang out:
- I just saw Samoilov, he came into your apartment with some blonde, - the neighbor rapped into the phone.
In order not to force people to rush around the apartment in what my mother gave birth to, I called from below from the intercom.
- Vadik, I know that a woman is with you. Both of you better leave.
“You don’t understand anything,” he was still embarrassed, “it’s just my classmate!” She came from my hometown, we haven't seen each other for so many years!
Then everything happened like in a cheap movie. A “classmate”, who went to kindergarten at most when Vadik was already finishing school, asked with a tremble in her voice: “Where do electric trains go here?”
- You to Sverdlovsk? I asked politely.
“I instructed her on the true path, look what sad eyes she has, she cannot break with drugs,” Samoilov justified.
The next day he again brought me a basket of flowers...
Last fall, we finally broke up. Forever this time. He left and left nothing behind - no joint photographs, no flowers, no pleasant memories. And the other day in the mailbox I found a notice for twenty-seven thousand rubles, which Vadim Samoilov spoke on the phone during my absence ...
Recently, in one of the capital's newspapers, I came across a headline: "Vadim Samoilov changes blondes." The material ended with the words: "One of Vadim's recent girlfriends, after talking with him, was forced to seek help from a psychiatrist and is now undergoing treatment in one of the specialized clinics."
It's not about me.

Vadim Samoilov is the founder of the cult musical group and its sound producer, rock singer, composer and poet.

Musician Vadim Samoilov, the eldest of two famous brothers, was born on October 3, 1964 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg). The father of the future star worked as an engineer, and his mother worked as a doctor. The difference with his brother (born in 1970) is 6 years. Later, the parents moved to Asbest (Sverdlovsk region).

In one interview, Vadim calls himself a "musician by vocation", not imagining life without music. As a result, she becomes the most important for him. Samoilov does not like to remember childhood years. It is known that leadership abilities, along with musical ones, manifested themselves in kindergarten, where he invariably acted as the organizer of games.

As for music, Vadim fell in love with her at an early age. The boy loved to sing and listen to melodies. He picked up his first song at the age of 5 on the piano while visiting. It was a melody from the movie "Property of the Republic".

At the age of 7, at the insistence of his mother, he entered a music school. There he was best given solfeggio, and he disliked subjects like “musical literature” for their edification.

Vadim began to create his own music while studying in the third grade, something meaningful appeared in the fifth or sixth. In the same period, he met Sasha Kozlov, played in an ensemble and rehearsed in the Komsomol committee. The memory of that period is captured in the song "Hurricane". Foreign hits were also recorded in English, for example, etc. The future musician has never been a fan of English rock and roll. Of the favorite groups, it should be noted "Urfin Juice" and.

Vadim Samoilov graduated from the Ural Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Design and Production of Radio Equipment. The knowledge gained was useful more than once in the future at the recording studio. Since 1983, he has been acting as a fighter of the MTR "Impulse".

In 1983-1986 he became a laureate of festivals dedicated to amateur song. In 1986–1987 he performed songs as part of KVN.

Music

Vadim Samoilov is known primarily as one of the founders, producers and musicians of the famous Agatha Christie group. Its beginning was the creation of the group VIA "RTF-UPI" in 1985 for student performances. The team was founded by Vadim Samoilov, Alexander Kozlov and Peter May. Having fulfilled its original purpose, it did not fall apart. This was the first step towards the creation of the modern Agatha Christie.

In 1987, Vadim invites his younger brother Gleb to the Agatha Christie group. He himself becomes a permanent member of the team, performing numerous functions in it: vocalist, sound engineer, arranger, sound producer, composer. The development and popularity of the group is largely his merit.

The main goal of Vadim Samoilov and the group was to "play their own music." The enthusiasm of the audience helped to restore and continue the activities of the group: “Come on, come on!”. "Agatha Christie" was afraid to become another fashionable group for one season. All forces were thrown at the recording of the album "Hurricane" (1996), it was necessary to "turn inside out".

The team, which has existed for over 20 years, managed to release 10 albums, 5 collections and 18 clips. The first wave of popularity caused fear. Many accused the members of the group of using narcotic allusions (hints). And the lines were interpreted by the audience in different ways. But this special worldview was to Vadim's liking.

The peak of popularity came with Agatha Christie in the 1990s. The golden composition of the Agatha Christie group is Agatha with the participation of the Samoilov brothers, Alexander Kozlov and Andrey Kotov (1990–2001). Over time, Gleb Samoilov began to write lyrics for songs more.

Despite the termination of the activities of the Agatha Christie group, the number of its fans is not decreasing. Listeners of the radio station "Our Radio" included 5 hits of the group in the Top 100 best songs of Russian rock.

In 2006, Vadim Samoilov created the "Hero of Our Time" charity project to help young musicians. Since 2007, a new round of Samoilov's biography begins, the musician becomes a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and fights the problem of plagiarism and piracy. Acts as a member of the Authors' Council of the Russian Authors' Society.

In 2012, he was officially registered as a trustee who claimed the presidency.

The scandalous lawsuit of Samoilov in the amount of 1 million rubles against a music critic for compensation for non-pecuniary damage is indicative. The reason for the conflict was a journalist’s quote from the film on REN TV “Notes of Protest” that the musician is nothing more than “a trained poodle under Surkov”, a politician and the author of “sovereign democracy”, who simply set the official’s poems to music. The lawsuit was dismissed and then reopened.

Along with the Agatha Christie group, Samoilov participates in other projects. In 1994, he acts as an arranger for the Titanic album by the Nautilus Pompilius and. Samoilov Sr. produces popular rock bands, for example, Semantic Hallucinations, and solo artists, including.

The solo album of Samoilov Sr. was released in 2003 and was called "Peninsula". Since 2006, fans have had the opportunity to listen to "Peninsula-2". Vadim tried his hand as a radio host. The musician became the voice of the Rocklab on Nashe program.

In 2015, Vadim Samoilov visited Donbass with concerts, and soon visited Syria. Gleb Samoilov, whose political views do not coincide with his brother's preferences, was outraged by the use of his name (it was also indicated) on concert posters. In addition, after the "nostalgic" tour, Vadim did not pay part of the money that was due to Gleb. A quarrel broke out between the brothers, which finally spoiled the relationship between them. Due to financial disagreements, the court sided with Gleb, but when he demanded from Vadim through the court not to use the songs in solo concerts, the authorship of which belonged to him, the judge rejected the petition.

An interview with Gleb appeared in the media, where he expressed outrage at the fact that his songs are heard at pro-Kremlin events. In response, Vadim promised to sue his brother for calls for extremism, which, in his opinion, are heard in the songs of the Gleb Samoilov group. Such an accusation threatened the younger brother with a real term. To reconcile the sons, their mother posted a video message on the Internet.

In November 2016, Vadim Samoilov presented on the social network "

Gleb Samoilov is a talented Russian musician, one of the members of the Agatha Christie band (1988-2010). After the collapse of the group, Gleb created the group "The Matrixx", with which he also continued to tour the country. Younger brother of Vadim Samoilov.

The childhood of Gleb Samoilov

Gleb Samoilov was born in the city of Asbest, Sverdlovsk Region, where the family moved from Sverdlovsk in 1965. The boy's father worked all his life as a mining engineer, and his mother worked as a surgeon. The elder brother of Gleb, Vadim Samoilov, was already growing up in the family. Both children showed a creative streak and dreamed of singing in their own group, despite the fact that my mother was categorically against it, as she considered the lifestyle of musicians too rampant.

As a child, Gleb dreamed of learning to play the piano and even briefly attended a music school, but soon gave up classes, arguing that he was under a heavy load. However, the desire to master the instrument did not disappear. The older brother came to the rescue, who undertook to teach the tomboy musical notation. At first, the boy learned to touch the keys with one hand, but soon he could boast of a virtuoso game using the pedals. Through the efforts of Vadim, the young man learned to recognize notes. One of the first songs learned was the song from the film "Tehran-43".

After graduating from school, the young man applied to the local institute at the Faculty of History, but his knowledge was not enough, and he failed miserably. Despite the fact that he failed to enter, he was gladly taken to the RTF-UPI student ensemble. In order to earn at least a little money for a living, Gleb got a job as a laboratory assistant at a school. Soon he wanted to master the bass guitar and applied to a music school for the corresponding specialty. However, after the first semester he had to quit his studies.

Gleb Samoilov and Agatha Christie

However, Gleb left the school not at all because of laziness or a cool interest in the guitar. The reason for this was literally fallen on the head popularity.

It was like this: in 1985, his older brother Vadim, together with his comrades (Peter May and Alexander Kozlov), began rehearsals under the name "VIA RTF UPI". In 1987, his brother invited Gleb to the group as a bass player. In February 1988, they played a concert for students of the Ural Polytechnic Institute, who accepted such amateur performances with a bang, and at the end of the year the guys released their debut album, Second Front, and a year later, another one, Cunning and Love.

Since 1990, Gleb has been the main lyricist for Agatha Christie, recorded albums with new friends, and also worked on his first solo record, Little Fritz. He still played bass, and not standing up, as is usually done, but sitting on a chair in the corner of the stage. This feature of the team gave rise to a lot of gossip and speculation, but later Gleb said that he was initially very afraid to speak in public, and his brother advised him to sit - so calmly. This went on until 1995, until at one of the concerts Gleb had an attack of claustrophobia. He jumped up, threw away his chair, and has been playing exclusively standing ever since.

In 1991, the band pleased its fans with the next album, Decadence, and a few months later, Gleb Samoilov's second solo record, Svi100plyaska, appeared on sale.

In the period from 1991 to 2010, the musician is actively involved in the development of the group. The guys not only travel around the country, but also work on new tracks. During this entire period, 7 albums were recorded. The most hit of them were Shameful Star (1993), Opium (1995), Hurricane (1996), Miracles (1998) and Epilogue (2010).

In 2010, Agatha Christie broke up, according to the Samoilov brothers, due to the inability to reach a consensus when choosing a creative path. Each of them had their own vision, so the musicians preferred to simply "leave beautifully." After the collapse of the group, Gleb Samoilov, together with the drummer and keyboardist from the last line-up of Agatha Christie, founded the group The Matrixx. The style of the newly minted group is very similar to AK, but the team members themselves attribute their music to neo-post-gothic. In the same year they released their debut album - "Beautiful is cruel", and a year later - "Trash". In the period from 2013 to 2015, 3 more records were released - “Alive but Dead”, “Light” and “Massacre in Asbet”.

"Musical Ring": Gleb Samoilov vs. Ranetok

Personal life of Gleb Samoilov

The first chosen one of a talented musician was a girl named Tatyana. She was older than her lover, but this did not bother Gleb at all. In 1996, the first-born, Gleb Glebovich Samoilov, was born. Despite a common child, the couple soon divorced. The son stayed with his mother. Although the young man knows perfectly well who his father is, he absolutely does not suffer from "star fever".

The second wife of Samoilov was fashion designer Anna Chistova, with whom he also failed to find a common language. After her, the musician was seen in the company of journalist Katya Biryukova, as well as director Valeria Gai-Germanika, but this relationship did not lead to anything.
