Calling Russia his mother, Muslim Magomayev considered himself an Azerbaijani, although Turkish, Adyghe and Russian blood mixed in his veins. Everyone loved him and for representatives of any people of Russia, he was a real folk singer. The creative activity of this remarkable artist, singer and composer covered the classics and pop music, national and foreign art. His whole life was entirely devoted to the stage. The cause of Muslim Magomayev's death was heart disease.

He was born in 1942 in Baku. His grandfather was Abdul-Muslim Magomayev, a famous Azerbaijani composer. Father died in the war, not having lived only 15 days before the Victory. Mother, actress Aishet Kinzhalova left for the Far East, where she got married, the boy remained in the family of his grandfather and uncle. Since childhood, he had an excellent ear for music and a strong voice. The first public performance of the 15-year-old singer took place in the House of Culture of Baku sailors, despite the prohibitions of his relatives, who are worried about his voice.

Then, in 1961, followed by work in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Baku Military District and the first prize of the laureate in Helsinki at the World Festival of Youth and Students for the performance of the song "Buchenwald Alarm". The first solo concert of the singer took place in 1963 in the Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky. Having become an opera singer, Magomayev did not stop performing on the stage and at the end of the 60s, after a second performance at the famous Olympia theater in Paris, he received an offer for a contract in it. The Soviet government did not give him such an opportunity.

Once he was almost put on trial for performing in Rostov and was banned from touring outside of Azerbaijan. He used this time to graduate from the Baku Conservatory, and then was again called to perform in Moscow: they could not do without him. In 1973, after many victories and awards at home and abroad, Muslim Magomayev was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR.

His popularity in the 60s and 70s beat all records. He made endless tours with his orchestra, released thousands of records, participated in all government concerts, traveled abroad. His repertoire included more than 600 songs and 20 of them were written by the singer himself. One of the minor planets of the solar system received his name. In 1998, Magomayev ended his concert activity and began to live a private life in Moscow. His wife, opera singer Tamara Sinyavskaya, recalled that he smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day.

Many experts argue that smoking weakens the body and exposes it to the risk of a variety of diseases. The singer had coronary heart disease, which develops imperceptibly and does not like tobacco abuse - this is why Muslim Magomayev died at the age of 66. Whether they are right or not, it is difficult to say: in the life of this great artist there were quite a lot of unrest that could break the heart. Magomayev died in October 2008 in the arms of his wife.

He is buried in Baku on the Alley of Honor next to his grandfather.

LAST ORPHEUS MUSLIM MAGOMAEV

Sincerely, without much pathos Muslim Magomaeva called the golden voice of the era. The one that is gone, but thanks to his songs lives in the hearts of millions of fans. And if not everyone from the younger generation remembers his name, then almost everyone has heard "The Ray of the Golden Sun ..." from "The Bremen Town Musicians" performed by Muslim Magomaeva. The singer not only had a divinely beautiful, extraordinary voice, he put a particle of his own soul into each song, so the songs performed Muslim Magomaeva- an example of the highest art!

Muslim Magomayev: “Luck is a reward for courage”

The people's favorite, which was literally carried in the arms, had an amazing baritone voice that fascinated more than one generation. He was born in a famous Azerbaijani family in 1942. Grandfather was a pianist, composer and conductor. The grandson was named in his honor - Muslim, and he fully continued the work of the famous ancestor. Father did not return from the front, he died a few days before the victory. Muslim's mother, Aishet Kinzhalova, was a dramatic actress.

Uncle Jamal's house became forever dear to the boy, and the uncle himself replaced his father and grandfather. At a time when Muslim's peers were playing with typewriters and tin soldiers, he set up his grandfather's music stand, picked up a pencil and led an imaginary orchestra.

In 1949, Muslim was sent to a music school at the Baku Conservatory. For the first time, they started talking about the boy’s unique voice when he was 8 years old - together with the choir, he diligently deduced “Sleep my joy, sleep.”

The main work of his life began with the Italian film "Young Caruso". At Uncle Muslim's dacha, every day he could watch the best films: captured, old and new. He continued his studies at a music school, but singing became his hobby. He was embarrassed to perform something in front of strangers and hid his secret from his family and teachers. Together with friends, Muslim created a secret society of music lovers, where they listened to vocal recordings and jazz music. Gradually moved from listening to practice.

Big ship - big voyage

Magomayev could not continue his studies at the music school. Singing captivated him so much that all other subjects began to distract him, and he moved to a music school. Life was in full swing there, and concert practice was even encouraged, and then Muslim was accepted into the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Baku Air Defense District. Once he was summoned to the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Azerbaijan and informed about his upcoming trip to the VIII World Festival of Youth and Students in Helsinki. The performances were a great success. Arriving in Moscow, Muslim saw his photograph in the Ogonyok magazine with a note: “A young man from Baku conquers the world.”

The turning point in the biography of the singer was 1963. The Decade of Culture and Art of Azerbaijan was held in Moscow. The young performer was received very warmly. A couple of days later, TASS information appeared in the newspapers from the concert of Azerbaijani artists, where it was reported: “The biggest success went to Muslim Magomayev. His magnificent vocal abilities, brilliant technique give grounds to say that a richly gifted young artist has come to the opera.

He was offered to perform solo at the Concert Hall named after him. And the very next year, the Baku Opera and Ballet Theater nominated 22-year-old Muslim for an internship at the La Scala theater in Milan. He went along with Anatoly Solovyanenko. It was an unprecedented luck for those times - to get into the holy of holies of operatic art at such a young age.

In the summer of 1966, he went to France for the first time, where he was to perform on the stage of the famous Olympia Hall as part of a large group of Soviet artists. The director of the concert hall, Bruno Coquatrix, offered him to stay on tour for a year, but Muslim refused. The newspaper "Russian Thought" wrote: "The young singer is the last number, and the audience does not want to let him go, gives him a more than well-deserved ovation."

Muslim Magomayev: “And there was not enough space for this song”

Soon he was again in France - in Cannes, where the next International Festival of Recording and Music Publishing. His records have sold a fantastic circulation of 4.5 million copies. The singer from the USSR received a "golden disc". The next few years were years of victories at various creative competitions and music festivals, where the audience gave Muslim a standing ovation.

At Muslim Magomaeva there have always been full-fledged foreign tours. Of the Soviet pop artists through the State Concert, he was the first to go to the USA. And at the age of 31 he was awarded the highest award - the title of People's Artist of the USSR. This was also a rare case when a singer who did not have the title of People's Artist of the Republic was awarded the title on the scale of the Union.

Magomayev did not like intermissions - he preferred to sing in one breath, he admitted that if he accelerates, then it is difficult for him to stop. In the first part of the concert he he performed the classics, and in the second he delighted the audience with popular songs and foreign hits. He became one of the first who began to perform them in the USSR. Minister of Culture Furtseva, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, and Andropov were supportive of his popularity. Once, having received a triple rate for performing at the stadium, the artist incurred the wrath of officials. There was a ban on his speeches for a year, but two months later the State Security Committee celebrated the anniversary. The head of the department, Yuri Andropov, called the Minister of Culture Ekaterina Furtseva and asked Magomayev to speak. "He's banned from us!" - said Ekaterina Alekseevna. “And here it is clean,” Andropov said after a pause. - Provide!

"I'm connected with you forever"

In his student years, classmate Ophelia achieved the location of the attractive Magomayev. Grandmother Muslim it scared her so much that she even began to hide the passport of her beloved grandson so that he would not “foolishly marry”. At the age of 19, the marriage was nevertheless formalized. A daughter, Marina, was born, but a year later the family broke up.

Magomayev's great love in the 1960s and 70s was the music editor of the All-Union Radio, Lyudmila Kareva. This time there was no official formalization of the relationship. On tour they refused to settle in one room. Once, at a banquet, Magomayev spoke about his problem to the Minister of the Interior, Shchelokov. He issued a certificate: “Marriage between a citizen Magomaev Muslim Magometovich and Kareva Lyudmila Borisovna, I ask you to consider it factual and allow them to live together in a hotel. Minister of the Interior Shchelokov. But this union was not forever.

with Tamara Sinyavskaya

With the main woman of all life, an opera singer, Magomayev met in 1972, when she was still married. A passionate romance broke out between them, but then the lovers broke up for two years, considering such a relationship a mistake. She left for an internship in Italy, but he called her every day, waiting for her return. Only after some time, fate again pushed them on tour. Since then, they have not been separated. Traveled to many countries, toured together. The range of his possibilities was unusually wide: operas, musicals, Neapolitan songs, vocal works of Azerbaijani and Russian composers.

"What is the heart so disturbed"

His departure from the stage is amazing. No anniversaries, long wires and combined concerts. He preferred to collect old movies, paint pictures and communicate with fans on the Internet. I could sit at the computer for hours, recording new compositions, making arrangements, or just answering questions from visitors to your personal site. Magomayev managed to leave the stage before the moment when Soviet songs began to sound on TV more often than in Soviet times itself. He said about the termination of performances: “God has determined a certain time for each voice, each talent, and there is no need to step over it.” When he was reproached for looking a little worse than, he objected: “So, Frank had masseurs around the clock, and I can’t stand it when other people’s hands do something to me.” He did not complain about his health, but sometimes he ended up in the hospital, heart problems made themselves felt. Muslim Magometovich passed away in 2008.

He lived, giving himself without a trace to his family, the stage, his fans, his beloved work. He left behind the creative heritage of the era, which still has not gone anywhere, because the memory of it is alive, and has remained out of time.

Muslim Magomayev was 18 years old, and already in these years the young man enjoyed wild success with girls. He studied at the Baku Musical College, where he met a classmate, a beauty with a romantic name of Ophelia, and decided to marry her. Grandmother Baidigul Muslim was so frightened that she hid the passport of her beloved grandson so that he would not "foolishly marry."

Hidden passport and secret marriage

“Carefree youth is over - I fell in love,” Muslim Magomayev recalled. - Everything is like in a song: I met a girl, an eyebrow with a crescent ... We began to meet. Uncle and aunt, knowing about my hobby and knowing my character, felt something was wrong. But due to his natural delicacy, Uncle Jamal did not dare to start a manly conversation with me, and I still did not consider it necessary to open up to my uncle. And then one day my passport disappeared. It seems that it was the hand of my grandmother: she caught the dangerous moment in time - Ophelia and I had just decided to get married. In our yard lived a certain Olga Kasparovna Charskaya, in the past a famous performer of old romances. She was a very sociable woman and, if she told something, she would shout at the whole yard. And so my grandmother hid my passport with her, because she understood that at home I would still look for it. The neighbor, due to her sociability, could not keep the secret entrusted to her for a long time, and it all ended with me returning the passport in some cunning way.

19-year-old Muslim got married anyway, and secretly ...

“Ophelia and I signed, without saying anything to anyone. I put my family before the fact. The reaction is restrained, I thought it would be worse. Grandmother was upset, and the sad uncle grumbled:

- Do you want to be independent? Okay, let's try, you're already an adult. But keep in mind, if you cry, we won't understand.

Magomayev in childhood with his mother

I began to live in the family of Ophelia. Her father, an intelligent man, a chemist, worked at the Academy of Sciences. He was delicate, modest, and a mother-in-law ... A mother-in-law is a mother-in-law. Everything turned out according to the law of the family swing. Very soon, the showdown began. I had to feed our little family, I had to urgently get a job.”

"You won't make a good husband!"

In a youthful marriage, Muslim had, frankly, a hard time. The wife's relatives believed that he should earn money without sparing himself. The young man then dreamed of singing at the opera house, albeit in a small one. But the relatives of the wife met these desires of Muslim with hostility. The most unbearable thing for the singer was the constant reproaches: “You won’t make a good husband!”. Muslim was accepted into the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Baku Air Defense District. But after that, Ofelia began to be burdened by the crazy touring schedule of the rising star. The young woman wanted her husband to always be with her.

“With the ensemble, we traveled to different cities, including resort ones. Everywhere there was success. In the ensemble I was paid decently at that time. Tour whirlwind distracted me from domestic troubles. I did not want to return home from the trip, my character did not allow me to play the role of a decent family man.

Then Chechen motives sounded in the life of the singer. At the invitation of friends, together with Ophelia, he moved to work in Grozny, the homeland of his great-grandfather Mohammed. The soloist of the Grozny Philharmonic Society was waiting for success ... But because of the greed of the director, Muslim for the first time in his life appreciated the taste of ordinary black bread with sprats.

Magomaev and Ophelia. first wife

“In hotels blown by all the winds, we fed bedbugs ... I caught a cold while traveling around the villages, yelled in the mountains so that I lost my voice. They found a good doctor for me in Grozny, a specialist in acupuncture. Two weeks later, from her needles or from silence, the voice returned. I sang. But Ophelia could not stand our life like this and went home to Baku.”

The beggarly existence in Grozny got tired of the singer, and a few months later he returned to Baku, but not to Ophelia's family, but settled with Ramazan Khalilov (director of the Baku Opera House), the nephew of Uzeyir Gadzhibekov, the son of one of Baidigyul's grandmother's sisters.

“After Ophelia left Grozny for Baku, I decided that our life together was over, but, having learned that my wife was expecting a child, I returned to her house. We had a daughter (1961), we named her Marina ... But our family life did not work out ... Subsequently, we broke up ... "

This name was chosen by the father not by chance. Even at the age of 13, Muslim was in love with the schoolgirl Marina and even wrote a song in her honor, which he performed at school holidays and parties. In the 70s, this composition became a hit.

“What can I say? - Muslim Magomayev recalled with a sigh about this page of life. - A boy at the age of 18 for the first time flared up to a woman ... My first reaction was to get married! Now it’s ridiculous for me to talk about this frivolity of my own. But I am grateful to those times - our short marriage, it lasted only one year, gave us a daughter. I have a very good daughter, Marina, for which many thanks to Ophelia. And about what I endured in that family, and I don’t want to remember, so as not to injure Marina ... I became completely unbearable to live. I was forced to earn money somewhere. And I knew one thing: I need to sing at the opera house, even in a small one. And they expected me to go to some team where they pay more. But the most unbearable thing is the eternal lamentations: "You will not make a good husband."

“Marina inherited my character, sharpened it in a feminine way. It turned out, alas, worse than mine ... "

According to many, Muslim always paid "frantic alimony" for his only daughter. Now Marina, together with her husband Alexander Kozlovsky and mother Ophelia, live in the USA, in Ohio. They have a seven-year-old son, Alain, the grandson of Muslim. By the way, the son-in-law's father Gennady Kozlovsky was a friend of Muslim, together they even wrote two songs.

“Then a friend went to America with his family. Unfortunately, he has already died. Alik is a very nice guy. At first, she and Marina talked on the phone for a long time, every day he called her in Baku, and it all ended with a wedding. Marina inherited my character, sharpened it in a feminine way. It turned out, alas, worse than mine ... "

Marina Magomaeva with her husband and son.

Marina was very close to her father, and Muslim infinitely valued friendly relations with her daughter. Although Marina graduated from school as a pianist and was destined for a bright future as a musician, she chose a different path. The father said tenderly: “I have a beautiful daughter, Marina, already an adult. At one time, her grandfather, an academic chemist, persuaded her to study geodesy and cartography: apparently, because of me, my wife's family developed an allergy to music. Marina graduated with honors from school as a pianist, she was predicted to have a wonderful future as a musician, she plays amazingly from a sheet ... But her daughter did not become a professional musician. I decided to find myself in another. I had no right to impose something on her, to give advice, and even more so to interfere in her fate. We have friendly relations with her, and I endlessly appreciate it ... "

Muslim dreamed of performing with his daughter on the same stage.

Tamara Sinyavskaya in the life of Muslim Magomayev

All the women of the USSR were in love with Muslim Magomayev. His popularity was like mass hysteria. And the singer, by his own admission, could not even imagine that he would marry not Tamara Sinyavskaya, but someone else.

All the women of the USSR were in love with Muslim Magomayev. Not a single government concert, not a single New Year's Blue Light could do without it. His popularity was like mass hysteria - in one of the cities, impulsive fans carried in their arms a car in which their idol was sitting. And the singer, by his own admission, could not even imagine that he would marry not Tamara Sinyavskaya, but someone else.

real love b

Muslim Magomayev and People's Artist of the USSR, opera singer Tamara Sinyavskaya lived together for 34 years. Before that, there were many different meetings in the life of the singer. “I never said that I was a monk. There were enough beautiful women on my way ... But all this is only up to Tamara Ilyinichna! - said the singer in an interview.

Tamara Sinyavskaya became the biggest love in Magomayev's life. True, not his only wife: when in his youth the artist entered a music school, he married his classmate Ophelia. The young couple had a daughter, Marina. But later the family broke up.

“A lot of gossip and rumors appeared about the time of my free life,” Muslim Magomayev later recalled. Fans and journalists even attributed to him an affair with Edita Piekha. They said that Muslim Magometovich sent ambassadors to the singer with a marriage proposal. According to another "legend", when Piekha was in Paris, her husband, Bronevitsky, unexpectedly flew into her room and began to look for Magomayev under the bed.

After the meeting of Magomayev with Tamara Sinyavskaya, a young actress of the Bolshoi Theater, the favorite of the public stopped paying attention to other women. Later, he admitted that he could not marry another woman - they have true love with Tamara Ilinichnaya, common interests and one thing ...

"You are my melody"

They met at the Baku Philharmonic, which bears the name of Muslim Magomayev's grandfather, in 1972. Tamara Sinyavskaya recalls that time: “When I was 29 years old, my romance with Muslim began. I then trained in Italy. Muslim called me every day, let me listen to new recordings. We talked a lot and for a long time. What a pretty penny these calls cost him, one can only imagine.

It was then that Alexandra Pakhmutova and Nikolai Dobronravov wrote the song "You are my melody" for Muslim Magomayev. The singer immediately liked it, and after a few days it was recorded. Tamara Sinyavskaya heard the song one of the first - by phone in distant Italy.

Two years after they met, Tamara Sinyavskaya and Muslim Magomayev got married. It is known that the singer herself was in no hurry to formalize this relationship. This continued until their mutual friend could not stand it, took their passports and took them to the registry office.

On November 23, 1974, they signed. On the same day, a wedding for a hundred people took place in one of the capital's restaurants. About three hundred more people, having learned about this event, gathered near the restaurant and chanted in unison for Magomayev to sing their favorite songs. On such a day, the singer could not refuse his fans and sang an encore at the open window of the restaurant for half an hour.

After a noisy celebration in Moscow, the young people went on a honeymoon trip to the groom's homeland - in Baku. Sinyavskaya was accepted there as a "gelin" - the daughter-in-law of all Azerbaijan. The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the republic, Heydar Aliyev, gave the newlyweds a solemn reception on this occasion at his dacha.

"Royal Bride"

At first, the metropolitan bohemia gladly gossiped about the quarrels between celebrities - the first years of marriage were given to the spouses quite hard.

Both are strong creative personalities, both are bright outstanding singers, both are known and loved by the public - they could not share the pedestal among themselves. During quarrels, Muslim Magomayev in his hearts left home and fled to his native Baku. And then, in an oriental pomp and solemnity, he took the first step towards reconciliation - he gave his beloved huge bouquets of flowers, arranged performances in her honor.

“There was a case when Muslim Magomayev, returning from some kind of trip, turned to me on tour in Kazan,” recalls Tamara Sinyavskaya. - I sang Lyubasha in The Tsar's Bride, and during the intermission, when I went to bow, they brought me a huge bouquet from him - I was not visible behind him. There were one hundred and fifty-four carnations! The whole room gasped. And, of course, when he appeared in the box, the audience was not up to the opera.

As a result, their union turned out to be one of the strongest star duets. When Tamara Sinyavskaya was asked why their union is so strong, she replied: “Maybe the most important thing is love? .. Yes, and there are many common interests. Especially when it comes to music, singing. As soon as Muslim sees someone’s speech on TV that evokes emotions, he immediately comes to me: “Did you hear“ this ”?!!” And the evening of “questions and answers”, delight or indignation begins. Muslim is a very emotional person. But I must say that our tastes and assessments almost always coincide.”

“In addition to love, affection, there is another feeling. Deep respect. So even though we cling to each other there - it all happens very emotionally, loudly - but for three minutes.<…>We scatter to different rooms ... and then we go out: what was it about, did it rain? And that's all, ”Tamara Sinyavskaya shared her recipe for happiness in one of her joint interviews. “I have great respect for Muslim for the masculine principle. He is wise."

Tamara Sinyavskaya was next to her husband until the last minute. She alone knows what is behind the dry formulation of "prolonged illness." At six in the morning on October 25, Tamara Sinyavskaya called an ambulance for her husband. Doctors rushed in literally five minutes later. Muslim Magomayev was unconscious. But all the efforts of the doctors were in vain. At 6:49 am, the singer's heart stopped.

Marina said goodbye to her father in Baku

October 29 ... In the hall of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic, in the center of the stage, on a pedestal decorated with white roses, a closed coffin was installed. The widow - Tamara Sinyavskaya - hardly holds back her tears. She is reassured by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Marina is crying next to her. Due to problems with a visa, she could not come to say goodbye to her father in Moscow, but flew immediately to Baku. She is supported by her husband, Alex. Ofelia really wanted to go to the funeral to see once again the man she loved so much in her youth. But she stayed in the USA with her grandson, they say, her health does not allow long-distance flights.

Childhood and youth of Muslim MagomayevMuslim Magomayev was born in the capital of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic - the city of Baku in a terrible war for the Soviet Union. The Magomayev clan became famous long before the birth of Muslim.

The grandfather, after whom the future singer was named, was an original genius - a composer and conductor, the founder of national classical music. Magomet Magomayev, father, inherited the genius of his parent, but in a different manifestation - he became a talented artist and worked as a decorator-designer in the theaters of Baku and Maykop until he left for the front.

Aishet Magomayeva (stage name - Kinzhalova), mother, was a talented dramatic actress with an outstanding musical gift. Muslim did not remember his father at all. Mohammed died near Berlin a few days before the end of the war. Aishet, having lost her husband, returned to Maykop, and then went to Vyshny Volochek, leaving Muslim in Baku under the care of the brother of her deceased husband, Jamal Muslimovich. The uncle who replaced the boy's father and grandfather was a strict and fair man.

Jamal did not indulge his nephew, but did everything that depended on him so that the child would not feel his orphanhood. He managed to instill in Muslim pride and devotion to his roots, country, and finally, music, which accompanied the boy from birth. Jamal did not receive a musical education, but played the piano well.

The grown-up Muslim entered the music school at the conservatory in piano and composition. There was simply no other way for a gifted boy with an absolute ear for music and a voice of incredible purity and strength.

Longing for her son, Aishet decided to take him to her place, to Vyshny Volochek. Nine-year-old Muslim happily went with his mother to a small Russian city, completely different from his native, bright and sunny Baku.

In addition to the boundless happiness of reuniting with his mother and many new experiences, the boy was expected to get acquainted with the Theater, not from the auditorium, but completely different, very close - with long rehearsals, the sounds of tuned instruments in the orchestra pit and the mysterious smell of backstage.

Muslim Magomayev - The best city in the world. 1988-9. Muslim Magomaev In Vyshny Volochek, Muslim continued to study at a music school, quickly gained popularity among his classmates, infecting them with the idea of creating their own puppet theater. It was at that time that the boy showed a gift for drawing and modeling - he himself made puppets for the performance.

A year later, Muslim returned to Baku. This was the decision of Aishet, who thought that in her native city her son's musical education would be more complete. After some time, the mother remarried.

In Baku, Muslim again plunged headlong into music. He could listen for hours to records with the voices of Enrico Caruso, Mattia Battistini, Beniamino Gigli, Titta Ruffo ... In the post-war years, many trophy films appeared, where a completely different atmosphere reigned, unfamiliar melodies and new voices sounded.

The family of the famous Azerbaijani performer Bulbul lived next to the Magomayevs, and the boy listened with abandon to the singer singing. Friendship with Bulbul's son Polad Muslim Magometovich kept until the end of his life. School successes were ambiguous: everything related to music - piano, solfeggio, musical literature, choir - ideally, but the rest ... Later, Muslim Magometovich recalled with a smile what a severe test for him were general education disciplines - physics, chemistry, mathematics. Then it even seemed to the schoolboy that at the sight of formulas his brain turns off.

In 1956, Muslim entered the Baku Musical College. Asaf Zeynaly, where the experienced vocalist A. A. Milovanov, the soloist of the Baku Opera Theater V. A. Popchenko taught. The singer felt great gratitude all his life to the accompanist Tamara Isidorovna Kretingen, who studied with an extraordinary student in her free time, found rare works by little-known composers for him.

Creativity Muslim Magomayev

In 1961, Muslim Magomayev became the soloist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Baku Military District, which toured the Transcaucasus. A year later, the singer was part of the USSR delegation at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Helsinki and, having performed the song "Buchenwald Alarm", became its laureate.

In the 60s, Magomayev's beautiful powerful voice gained fame first in the Soviet Union, then in the world. In 1962, Magomayev performed at the Kremlin Palace of Congresses as part of the Azerbaijani Art Festival. A year later, without stopping performances on the stage, he became a soloist with the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater named after Akhundov.

In November 1963, the singer gave his first solo concert in the Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky. 1964-1965 Magomayev spent in Italy, where he did an internship at the La Scala Theater in Milan. The tour of the young lyric baritone in 1966 and 1969 at the Olympia concert hall in Paris was a huge success.

Before Magomayev, a wonderful prospect opened up to conclude a contract for a year with the director of Olympia, but the USSR Ministry of Culture intervened, which forbade the singer to make independent decisions. Magomayev did not dare to confront the leadership: in those years, this was fraught with serious complications, up to and including accusations of betrayal of the motherland.

Muslim Magomayev - Wedding After returning to the Soviet Union, Muslim received an offer to join the Bolshoi Theater troupe, but rejected it because he did not want to remain in the rigid framework of opera performances.

The repertoire of one of the most popular singers in the country was extremely diverse - pop songs, opera arias, Russian romances, popular hits by Western composers, patriotic pathos, inevitable for that time. State awards and prizes alternated with international ones - the first prize at the festival in Sopot, the "Golden Record" in Cannes. For decades, Magomayev has been an indispensable performer at government concerts, a participant in all holiday television programs.

He received the title of People's Artist in 1973, when he was 31 years old. In 1975, the singer created the Azerbaijan State Variety Symphony Orchestra and was its permanent artistic director until 1989. Magomayev managed to popularize modern Western trends in music, which were ostracized by the top party leadership of the country. It was in his performance from the big stage for the first time in the Soviet Union that the song "Yesterday" by the legendary group "The Beatles" sounded.

Magomayev composed music, took part in the filming of the films Muslim Agomayev Sings, Nizami, Moscow in Notes, and often toured abroad. The songs performed by him - "Elegy", "Thank you", "Melody", "Nocturne" and hundreds of others became hits that, thanks to Magomayev, will be popular for many more years. The singer performed leading roles in the operas "Tosca" by G. Puccini, "The Magic Flute" and "The Wedding of Figaro" by Mozart, "The Barber of Seville" by G. Rossini, "Otello" and "Rigoletto" by G. Verdi, "Faust" by C. Gounod, "Aleko" by S. V. Rachmaninov, "Eugene Onegin" by P. I. Tchaikovsky, "Pagliacci" by R. Leoncavallo.

M. Magomaev "You are my melody" In 1972, in Baku, Muslim met the young actress of the Bolshoi Theater Tamara Sinyavskaya, who was visiting the decade of Russian art in Azerbaijan. The meeting turned out to be fateful ... Tamara was married at that time and was not going to change anything, but contrary to common sense, the young people became inseparable. The idyll was broken when Sinyavskaya left for an internship in Italy. In 1974, Muslim and Tamara met again and decided to register their relationship. On November 23, a grandiose wedding banquet took place in a Moscow restaurant, which turned out to be a complete surprise for the young people - they wanted to arrange only a modest feast.

Joint life was not always cloudless. Both spouses were famous artists, had a strong character and were extremely reluctant to make concessions. However, Magomayev and Sinyavskaya were very attached to each other and did not find the strength to part forever.

The last years of Muslim Magometovich's life, they again became inseparable, they went on vacation together in Baku, swam in the Caspian Sea, savored barbecue. At a dacha near Moscow, where the couple set up a wonderful garden with an alpine hill and a huge number of plants, Magomayev continued to do what he loved: he composed music, wrote arrangements, and drew a lot.

Recent years and the cause of death of Muslim Magomayev

At the age of 60, Magomayev firmly decided to leave the stage and retire. The voice was still strong, but the heart could no longer withstand heavy loads. On October 25, 2008, the singer died in the arms of Tamara Ilyinichna ...

The reason for his untimely departure was vascular atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. After the farewell ceremony with the great artist in the Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky in Moscow, the ashes of the deceased were delivered to his native Baku, where Magomayev found his last refuge next to his famous grandfather, on the Alley of Honor.

At the disposal of LIFE.RU were documents showing that Muslim Magomayev could have been saved from a fatal illness. Physicians at the Cardiology Center Bakulev prepared the great singer for a complex heart operation. Muslim Magomedovich did not live to see her for only a few days.

On November 11, the master of the national stage was supposed to go to the preoperative examination. Coronary bypass surgery was the last hope to save Magomayev's life. Only those closest to Muslim Magomayev knew: what is hidden behind the dry stamp “died after a long, prolonged illness ...”

Muslim Magomedovich courageously fought a terrible disease. Muslim Magometovich has been feeling very bad lately. He hardly left the house. The 66-year-old singer had serious problems with blood vessels, which provoked malfunctions in the heart.

Circulatory failure led to the fact that part of the heart ceased to be supplied with blood. On examination at the Cardiology Center. Bakuleva, where Muslim Magomayev was treated, in addition to tachycardia and hypertension, doctors discovered that he had a pathology of the heart muscle. Six months ago, the singer underwent an operation on the vessels, but, unfortunately, it did not give the expected result. "Angioplasty, on which cardiac surgeons made bets, did not produce results," the doctor of the cardio center does not hide. "The problem of narrowed vessels could not be solved." To improve blood circulation, doctors had to insert a special catheter into the vessels of Muslim Magometovich. The world-famous Baku citizen was operated on by the best specialists of the cardiology center.

Despite all the efforts of the doctors, Magomayev did not get better. The singer continued to suffer terrible pain. Then the doctors decided that only coronary bypass surgery could save the life of Muslim Magometovich.

"The singer had a very weak heart," the Bakulevka doctor shared. "In addition to the narrowed vessels, atherosclerotic plaques were found in him." With such a diagnosis, shunting is often the only way out. During the operation, a shunt is inserted into the clogged vessel and the blood flow is redirected to bypass the clogged part of the artery. “But for a long time, this operation was not decided,” continues our interlocutor. “If angioplasty is done under local anesthesia, then a complete one is needed for bypass surgery. And at a respectable age, this is a huge risk. You can never be completely sure that the patient’s heart will withstand anesthesia ".

After much deliberation, the doctors finally decided on bypass surgery. In the singer's medical record, they made a note that on November 11 he should go to the last preoperative examination. But Muslim Magometovich did not live to this day.
