This is a failure: the “live” performance of Yulia Samoilova horrified the audience, video.

01.02.2019

On February 6, the first semi-final of the national selection for participation in song contest. It will be the first step towards determining who will represent Ukraine this year in Stockholm. The participants of the preselection, which this time is the 18th, are diverse: rock The Hardkiss, hipster SunSay, pop "Neangels" and many other famous and new musicians. The appearance of some names in the list of participants in the selection caused bewilderment, controversy and even fear for the country's prestige at Eurovision.

I decided to remember the most disastrous performances of the participants of the song contest different years with the hope that the contestant from Ukraine will not add to this list with a performance in Stockholm in May.

"Grinjoly" - "Together we are rich" (Ukraine)

In order not to sound biased, let's first recall the shameful performance of Greenjol at Eurovision 2005, which was then hosted by Ukraine. Having performed unofficial anthem Orange Revolution, the hosts of the competition then took 19th place. Ukrainians received 30 points (for comparison, Ruslana was given 280 points a year earlier). Together with the 19th step of "Greenjola" they won the title of one of the most disastrous performances in the history of the competition.

Rodolfo Chiquilicuatre - Baila el Chiki-Chiki (Spain)

The performance of this Spaniard in the list of failures is not particularly surprising. Everything failed: the song, the image, and the performance itself, accompanied by a show ballet. At Eurovision 2008, Chiquilicuatre took 16th place. True, it should be noted that Rodolfo Chiquilicuatre is a fictional comedic character, the pseudonym of comedian David Fernandez Ortiz.

Despite the fact that the freakiness of this character was not approved by the audience and did not receive positive ratings, she became key event in Ortiz's career. It was the appearance with the song Baila el chiki-chiki at a song contest that helped the comedian gain fame outside the country. This single went platinum in Spain and Greece.

Ping Pong - Happy Song (Israel)

And if Rodolfo Chiquilicuatre tried to joke in 2008, then the Israeli group in 2000 seemed to be doing everything deliberately. Even the choice of "happy song" could not bring success to the performers. The magic of the name was powerless with such music, such performance, choreography and the whole performance as a whole. Even boyish kisses did not help (who is very interested, but there is no strength to watch everything, on the video it is 1:15). And earning 7 points, the Ping Pong group finished 23rd out of 24.

Dustin The Turkey - Irelande Douze Pointe (Ireland)

It is not known how the Irish deserved their country to be represented at Eurovision 2008 with this song and such a performance. The crazy action did not produce the effect that the musicians had hoped for. Dustin The Turkey finished 15th in the first semi-final and did not advance to the final.

The lyrics of the song Irelande Douze Pointe refer to the Eurovision voting procedure. In particular, the Dustin The Turkey group noted on the so-called "geopolitical vote", especially between countries of Eastern Europe. By the way, the Dustin The Turkey team is not musical group, and a comedy group, one of the most popular on Irish television.

Daz Sampson - Teenage life (UK)

In 2006, seeking to impress the audience, Briton Daz Sampson performed a rap in the Eurovision final. And despite the fact that the performer himself is sure that the audience of the competition was simply not ready for rap, there are other objective reasons for the failure of the performance. The show on stage was unaesthetic, daring and vulgar in places. Daz Sampson placed 19th out of 24.

Scooch - Flying The Flag (UK)

The following year, the British tried to rehabilitate themselves, but to no avail. In 2007, the group Scooch with the composition Flying The Flag was in 23rd place out of 24, and this was due to the fact that Malta gave them the maximum score in protest against voting for neighboring countries. Insanely bright costumes that make your eyes go blind, frankly vulgar necklines with which they tried to save the situation, and voices that I would like to forget.

But the musicians themselves seemed to be pleased with the performance. They released a video for the song, identical to what was happening on stage. Or they just decided not to bother too much.

Teapacks - Push the Button (Israel)

The year 2007 for Eurovision was also remembered for the scandalous performance of the representatives of Israel. Eccentric musicians in ridiculous costumes, crazy dances, ditties mixed with rock - their performance in a farcical manner could be just one of many unsuccessful ones.

However, Teapacks presented a rather politicized song. The musicians sang that "the world is full of fear" caused by "some crazy chieftains" who are about to "push the button". The song caused a scandal. Many people saw in the composition a hint of a nuclear threat from Iran. Teapacks didn't even make it to the Eurovision final.

"Musical group of Peter Nalich" - Lost and Forgotten (Russia)

Number Russian artist at the song contest in 2010 it turned out to be quite harmonious: a boring song and the same uninteresting performance. Peter Nalich's performance, like the composition he presented in Norway, was sad and could have been depressing if it had gone on longer. Brokers predicted a Russian last place, however, he ended up at number 11.

European critics called this performance one of the worst of 2010. One could make allowances for the fact that Nalich positions himself as a comic and parodic character. However, a comic performance suggests that it will be funny. And listening to the performance of Peter Nalich was simply not interesting.

Kreisiraadio - Leto svet (Estonia)

In 2008, the Estonian comedy trio Kreisiraadio failed to hit Europe. Even the fact that the song was performed mainly in the Serbian language (the competition was then held in Serbia) did not save the participants. They took the penultimate place in the semi-finals. What happened then on stage was rather strange, even if you take into account that the emphasis was on humor. Kreisiraadio jokes were not understandable for Europe, which is not surprising, because Kreisiraadio humor is not always understood in Estonia itself.

Donatan & Cleo - We Are Slavic (Poland)

The performance of the Poles in 2014 was then one of the most discussed. "Donatan and Cleo" decided to combine folk costumes, almost rap performance anddirty moves. Some critics called their daring performance "semi-pornographic", which, however, seemed to others a plus.

The performance appeared on the network Russian singer Yulia Samoilova at the international music competition"Eurovision-2018".

In just a few hours, users have watched the video more than 500 thousand times. The video received over 3,000 likes. But those who did not like the performance of the singer turned out to be much more - 14 thousand dislikes.

Recall that in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2018, which took place in Lisbon on the night of May 11, Yulia Samoilova performed the song "I Won't Break". The scenery on the stage was massive. Julia sang, being on a kind of volcano, from which lava flowed. The backing vocalists helped the artist. In addition, the performance of Samoilova was accompanied by a performance of the ballet "Todes".

However, the number of spectators still did not impress. For Yulia Samoilova, the competition is over. According to the results of the voting of the audience and the jury, she could not get into the top ten finalists. It included contestants from Norway, Serbia, Denmark, Moldova, the Netherlands, Australia, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia and Ukraine.

Samoilova does not share the opinion of the public, she called her performance "a cool and unforgettable experience."

I want to thank everyone who supported me, who worries about me ... This is a very cool experience for me, unforgettable. I will keep it in my heart for a long time, - quote the artist

Representing Russia at Eurovision Yulia Samoilova failed to reach the final of the competition. Recall that the performer presented the song “I Won’t Break” in Lisbon.

The musical community discusses the reasons for the failure of the singer. Producer and husband of Valeria Iosif Prigogine distinguished himself by his sharpness, “cutting the truth”:

“I was embarrassed, to be honest. I just didn't know where to put myself. She was limited in every sense of the word. Her ear monitors didn’t work, or they didn’t exist at all, but you can’t just go on stage like that. And the work is not strong, it is not a hit. It is rather an attempt at sentimental pressure, but today it is almost impossible to pressure people into pity.

And about the singer herself, he said:

- At least you need to hit the notes.

Infamous for flamboyant talk show appearances musical critic Sergey Sosedov was less laconic:

– It was the worst performance of the second semi-final. No one performed worse than Yulia Samoilova. The voice trembled. At one point, she forgot where to start, forgot where the musical phrase begins. The backing vocals started the phrase, and she started from the middle. This was shown on television very noticeably: the backing vocals sang, and she was silent and smiling, somehow so bewildered. And from the middle of the phrase, she begins to sing. Either she had to skip that phrase altogether, not sing it in full, or start over, along with backing vocals. But you can not start the phrase from the middle! This is an obvious mistake. She sang badly, very badly, uncertainly. She was trembling, obviously worried. The song, already unsuccessful, sounded just awful. It was a terrible performance. It was the most failed performance Russian participants throughout the history of participation in this competition. No one performed worse than Yulia Samoilova. So it's an absolutely fair decision. It would be strange if she was led forward.

Meanwhile, both ordinary spectators and fans are not happy with the number, and they blame not Yulia, but her managers for the failure:

I haven't been so ashamed in a long time. It’s worth starting with the fact that Julia’s failure was expected. I was not surprised, even glad, because it would be stupid to put this in the final. I don't blame Julie for anything. Blame for a bad result is only her team. At the very beginning, when the song became known, I supported Yulia, it was unpleasant for me to see negative comments about her contest entry. All videos from the rehearsals were downvoted, the press rated Yulia's performances with zero points, but the Russian media wrote that everyone was amazed that our number was the most beautiful, the best, that even the coldest hearts Yulia managed to melt. The song was lowered to her tone, but this did not help either. The performance was disgusting. Only the dancers gave their best, I can’t say anything here.
Shame on the whole team that prepared Yulia for Eurovision, shame on everyone who used her for their own purposes, shame on Yuri Aksyute, shame on Channel One, - writes the user - _alestra_.

The Eurovision final will take place on May 12, 26 participants from different countries will take the stage to fight for leadership, the Russians will not be among them for the first time in the entire period of the country's participation in the competition.

Let's remember the shameful performances of our artists.

Philip Kirkorov The singer has repeatedly surprised the audience with his unsuccessful performances to the soundtrack. First, this happened at the concert "Song of the Year", where Philip performed the song "My Only". Well-wishers posted on the Internet a recording that was made from the sound control panel - Kirkorov, out of breath, was out of tune, not getting into the notes. The following incident took place at an arts festival Slavic Marketplace» in Vitebsk. During Philip's performance, the phonogram failed, and the musician continued to sing live. This was observed by 3 presidents sitting in the hall: Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Realizing his failure, Kirkorov publicly said: “Gentlemen presidents, anything can happen!”
Alla Pugacheva
Unsuccessful performances happen not only among young musicians, but also among the masters of the stage. Even those like the legendary Alla Pugacheva. Every year the singer holds a concert-festival "Christmas Meetings". At one of these concerts, Alla Borisovna began to sing the song "That's All", but the soundtrack failed. Realizing that there was an overlay with sound, the singer began to pronounce the text like poetry. After some time, the soundtrack turned on again, which allowed the Prima Donna to turn the incident into a highlight.
Ivan Dorn
The performance of the 24-year-old singer took place in Yalta. The concert at the Matrix nightclub was supposed to start at 1 am, however, Ivan was two hours late. But instead of performing his hits, Dorn began to spin records. This, of course, is not surprising - Ivan is not only a singer, but also a DJ. But the spectators who bought tickets at a price of 1,000 to 5,000 rubles were not satisfied with this option. The audience became indignant and left the hall. The organizers, in turn, pointed them to the poster, where it was written that Dorn acts as a DJ. The singer himself hurried to retreat through the service entrance.
Dima Bilan

In 2008, Bilan became the first Russian singer, who took 1st place at the Eurovision Song Contest. And, apparently, on the wave of success he allowed himself to relax. Speaking at the same competition in 2012, along with other musicians, he forgot the words to the song. Fortunately, the soundtrack came to the rescue! The singer casually opened his mouth, not making a sound. The performance was not competitive, however, the video spread all over the Internet.
Singer MakSim
The incident happened to the singer in 2010 at the presentation of the MUZ TV award. First, her microphone stopped working, and then the headphones through which the musicians hear the soundtrack. MakSim sang as best she could, and the ceremony itself was broadcast on live. More than 2 million Internet users have watched this video on the Web. Later, the singer demanded that her number be cut from the air, but the channel's management refused her. As the saying goes, you can't take words out of a song.
