How to draw an even triangle in Photoshop. How to draw a triangle in Photoshop - tips and tricks

17.04.2019

In this article you will learn how to draw in Photoshop different types triangles: equilateral, isosceles, scalene and right angled.

How to draw an equilateral triangle

An equilateral triangle has all three sides equal.

The easiest way to draw such a triangle in Photoshop is with Polygon Tool.

Select this tool and on the settings panel immediately specify the number of sides - 3.

The next step is to decide what the future triangle should be: a vector figure, a raster with a solid fill, or you only need a contour. Consider all options.

vector triangle

In the options bar, select the option shape layer.

Now you can draw the triangle itself. During creation, you will see its borders. This is necessary in order to calculate its dimensions. Also, until you release the mouse button, you can twist it.

A vector triangle is good because you can quickly change its color, as well as painlessly change its size without losing quality. To do this, call the command - Ctrl + T .

To later turn it into a raster triangle, use the command.

Bitmap triangle with solid fill

You will get the same triangle as the example above, but it will be immediately in the raster.

To do this, in the options panel, select the setting Perform pixel fill.

Before creating such a triangle, you need to initially.

Now draw a shape and it will be like a normal bitmap element.

How to draw the outline of an equilateral triangle

For such a shape, select the option in the Options Bar contours.

Draw a triangle. You, of course, get only its outline. Next, with the same tool selected, right-click inside the path. A context menu will appear. Choose a team Create Selection.

A dialog box will open. Leave the feather radius at 0. Click OK.

As a result, we made a contour.

To do this, run the command Editing - Stroke. A window will appear in which you specify the thickness of the stroke line, as well as how it will pass relative to dotted line highlights: inside, center, outside.

Photoshop made a stroke, now remove the dotted selection so that it does not interfere - Ctrl + D. Result:

How to draw an isosceles triangle

An isosceles triangle has two equal sides.

Let's look at an example when you need to draw isosceles triangle given sizes. Let's say the base is 300px and the height is 400px.

Ready

Isosceles triangle by given dimensions drawn!

In a right triangle, one of the angles is 90 degrees.

If needed right triangle with predetermined sizes, for example, the sizes of the legs are 200 and 300 pixels, then the easiest way to do this is as follows:

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop with a height and width equal to the dimensions of the legs: for example, let the width be 300px and the height 200px.

The working area in Photoshop is always rectangular, so a 90 degree angle will already be provided. The two sides of a rectangle are its legs. It remains only to draw a diagonal - this will be the hypotenuse.

Step 2

We will act similarly to the example above. We take the tool Line and set the option shape layer.

Now draw a line around the edges and connect the two points diagonally:

Step 3

There are three shape layers on the layers palette again. They can be combined into one layer (command Merge layers).

Ready

The right-angled triangle is ready, you can paint it in any color:

Noticed an error in the text - select it and press Ctrl + Enter . Thank you!

An equilateral triangle in Photoshop is drawn using vector objects. You can draw a filled triangle, you can draw a triangle with a frame. Select drawing polygons (Polygon tool).

Drawing polygons (Polygon tool)

Select the shapes (horizontal key U), then Polygon tool (Polygon Tool), see screenshot below.

Set the "Fill Pixels" property.

Select the fill color of the triangle (the first color in the toolbar), draw a triangle with the mouse.

Triangle with frame

The triangle should be drawn on a new empty layer, without any fill. You can create a new layer by simultaneously pressing Alt + Ctrl + Shift + N .

Set the value to "Paths" (in Russian, paths).

Draw a triangle with the mouse.

Convert the vector triangle to a selection (Select) by pressing Ctrl + Enter .

Color the selection (in this case, white).

Alt + ← BackSpace is the first selected color.

Ctrl + ← BackSpace is the second selected color.

Draw a cloud with a pen

A simple drawing lesson. How to draw anything with the Pen Tool (Pen). The tool is universal, it can do a lot, but non-professionals rarely use it. Why? They find it difficult to learn how to use the Pen Tool in Photoshop. Nothing complicated. Try this tutorial for an example.

How to draw a simple figure with a pen - a cloud or a small cloud? Or any other figure consisting of several curvilinear segments. The easiest way is to create a simple and primitive straight path, and then "curve" its segments as needed.

Take Pen tool (Pen), on the options bar, click the button Paths (Contour) to draw a path without filling, and draw a shape like this by simply clicking in right places pen:

Arrows Path Selection Tool and Direct Selection Tool, located on the toolbar immediately below the pen, allow you to move the path or its individual nodes. Use these arrows to edit if the path you've created is not entirely successful.

It doesn't look like a cloud. Select the Add Anchop Point Tool (Add reference point) from the Pen tool group and put an additional anchor point in the middle of some straight line.

In order for the straight line to bend, you need to pull outward by the middle, that is, by this additional point that we have established. Two guides extend from this point. If they are very short, the arc will bend sharply. To change the shape of the arc, grab the tip of the guide and drag it out. For the arc to be symmetrical, the guides must be the same length and located at the same angle to it.

Turn all straight line segments into arcs as shown.

The result is a contour resembling a cloud. But the figure drawn in this way is not an image, but only a template that can be used to create an image. The outline is invisible in the picture. The created cloud outline can be filled with color or texture, or outlined with a pencil or brush.

Select the foreground color white from the Photoshop toolbar.

Right-click anywhere on or near the path. The context menu for working with the contour will open.

From this menu, choose Fill Path. In the dialog box that opens, you can select the fill color for the foreground or background, the blur radius (Feather Radius) and the layer overlap mode.

Here is the result - a nice white cloud is drawn:

But what if the cloud doesn't have to be white, and you only need to draw the outline of the cloud? Cancel the last action - the fill of the contour: palette History (History), one step back.

Select and customize the Pencil tool. In the Options Bar, set its thickness to 2 or 4 px.

Right-click to bring up the context menu for working with the path. Select Stroke Path from the menu.

In the window that opens, select the tool Pencil (Pencil),

press OK and get the result - a cloud outline outlined in pencil.

You can also use other tools to stroke, such as a brush. Each tool must be pre-configured.

Cancel the last action - a stroke with a pencil: palette History (History), a step back. On the toolbar, select the tool Brush (Brush), set it to the following parameters:

Right-click to bring up the context menu for working with the path. In the menu, select Stroke Path (Stroke) and in the dialog box instead of Pencil (Pencil) set Brush (Brush)

You will get the following result:

If in the process of learning you have created a small masterpiece and want to save it for future use, then again right-click the context menu for working with the contour and select Define Custom Shape.

In the window that opens, enter a name for the shape and OK.

In the future, you will find your cloud in the section of ready-made vector shapes freeform and you can use it when you need it.

When I was a "teapot", I was faced with the need to draw a triangle in Photoshop. Then I could not cope with this task without outside help.

It turned out that everything is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. In this lesson I will share with you the experience in drawing triangles.

There are two (known to me) ways.

The first way allows you to depict equilateral triangle. For this we need a tool called "Polygon". It is located in the shapes section on the right toolbar.

This tool allows you to draw regular polygons with a given number of sides. In our case, there will be three of them (sides).

After adjusting the fill color

put the cursor on the canvas, hold down the left mouse button and draw our figure. During creation, the triangle can be rotated without releasing the mouse button.

Result:

You can also draw a shape without a fill but with an outline. Contour lines are configured in the top toolbar. Filling is also configured there, or rather its absence.

I got these triangles:

You can experiment with the settings to achieve the desired result.

The following triangle drawing tool is − "Straight Lasso".

This tool allows you to draw triangles with any aspect ratio. Let's try to draw a rectangle.

For a right triangle, we need to accurately draw a right (who would have thought ...) angle.

Let's use guides. How to work with guide lines in Photoshop, read in.

So, we read the article, we pull the guides. One vertical, the other horizontal.

To make the selection “pull” to the guides, turn on the snapping function.

Then we right-click inside the selection and select, depending on the needs, the context menu items "Perform fill" or "Run Stroke".

The fill color is configured as follows:

You can also adjust the width and position of the stroke.

We get the following results:
Fill.

For getting sharp corners wrapping needs to be done "Inside".

After deselecting ( CTRL+D) we get a finished right triangle.

These are the two simplest ways to draw triangles in Photoshop.

Program Adobe Photoshop widely used for image manipulation, providing a really wide range of possibilities. Most users use Photoshop for photo retouching, but, in addition, the program allows you to create: drawings, paintings, graphics - of varying degrees of complexity. Photoshop has several tools for creating drawings. First of all, you need to learn how to draw the simplest elements like triangles, lines, ellipses and other things, since they are used very often when creating various kinds of drawings. In this article, we will take a closer look at how to draw the simplest shapes in Photoshop. Let's figure it out. Go!

Learn the basics of computer graphics

After opening Adobe Photoshop, pay attention to the toolbar. To go to the shapes, click on the rectangle icon. In the pop-up window you will see the following tools:

  • "Rectangle";
  • "Rectangle with rounded corners";
  • "Ellipse";
  • "Polygon";
  • "Line";
  • « Arbitrary figure».

The editor offers several classic and freeform shapes

There are three drawing modes in total:

  1. A new shape is created, for which you can make a fill layer or a vector mask.
  2. The contour of the figure is created and painted over with some color.
  3. Pixel mode. In this case, the images are raster, not vector.

For each selected figure, geometric parameters are set, in other words, proportions. To draw a rectangle, select the appropriate tool, set the desired outline settings and fill color. And now just place the cursor at the point on the sheet from which you want to start drawing. Holding down the left mouse button, stretch the rectangle as needed.

There is nothing easier than drawing a line. For this, a tool of the same name is used.

For a circle, use the Shift key or the advanced settings menu

Let's move on to how to draw a circle in Photoshop. Here everything happens in a similar way. Select the Ellipse tool, decide on the color and thickness of the outline. If you want to get a circle, not an ellipse, hold down the "Shift" key on the keyboard or set the "circle" in the geometric parameters section.

We draw a beautiful composition with standard means

Now let's figure out how to draw a triangle in Photoshop. In this case, everything is not so obvious, but it is not at all more complicated. All you need to do is select "Polygons" and in the small "Sides" box, set the number of corners. Accordingly, to get a triangle, enter the number "3". Then everything is done in exactly the same way as in the previous cases. Using the Polygon tool, you can get a shape with any number of corners. If you need to get a right triangle, draw a square, and then cut off half diagonally.

Arrows at the beginning or end can be set in the tool properties

Let's see how to draw an arrow in Photoshop. This can be done in two ways. The first is that you need to select the "Line" tool, then in the options window mark which side of the line the arrow will be on (at the beginning or at the end), then you need to set the thickness of the arrow in pixels. Place the cursor at the desired point and start dragging the line with the mouse. The second way - select "Custom Shape". On the top panel there is a table with templates, among them there is also an arrow.

Templates that are included in the standard configuration of the application
