Draw a person's face in stages with a difficult pencil. Draw a face

09.04.2019

To draw a portrait of a person with a pencil, novice artists do not have to complete courses, become students of an art academy, or take private drawing lessons. Drawing a person's face is not difficult, the main thing is not to be lazy and develop your skills.

The main thing in the article

Do-it-yourself portrait of a man in pencil: what do you need?

To draw a portrait of a person you will need:

  • simple pencils;
  • a sheet of white paper A4;
  • eraser;
  • stationery knife;
  • scotch.

Learning to draw portraits of people with a pencil: where to start?

There should be no unnecessary items on the working surface. Take a sheet of white paper, lay it vertically or horizontally in front of you and secure it around the edges with tape. Remember that while drawing, you can not tilt the sheet. You work only with the hand.

Use a pencil to draw a portrait Koh-i-Noor medium soft HB or soft B.

An incorrectly sharpened pencil affects the quality of the drawing. Do not sharpen pencils with a sharpener, but use a stationery knife. This method of sharpening a pencil allows you to expose the core as much as possible, to make it sharp. Correctly sharpening a simple pencil, you will be less distracted from the process and draw longer.

For practice, use a regular sheet of A4 paper. In the future, if you enjoy drawing, buy professional drawing paper, such as sketching paper, kraft paper.

How to learn to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil?

First, take a photo of the person whose face you want to draw. Consider it carefully. A person's face on a sheet of paper consists of geometric shapes that change their shape in the process of drawing. Remember that people's faces are disproportionate. Therefore, during a detailed drawing of parts of the face, this must be taken into account.

To learn how to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil, you need to make sketches on paper.

How to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil for beginners in stages

The process of drawing a person's face with a pencil can be divided into the following steps:

  • drawing a general outline of the face;
  • marking the main parts of the face inside the oval;
  • eye drawing;
  • drawing eyebrows, drawing a nose and mouth;
  • detailed drawing: wrinkles, shadows, moles, hair, etc.

Getting Started: Building the Head and General Face Contour

To correctly draw the general contour of the face, you need to know quite a bit of human anatomy. First, draw an oval that is narrower at the bottom than at the top. Next, change the outlines individually.

Marking parts of the face and working with planes

Full face

  1. The skull and jaw are a flattened sphere, roughly speaking, the face in this position resembles a chicken egg, turned upside down with a narrow part. Draw such an oval and draw two perpendicular lines through its middle.
  2. The horizontal line is the line of the eyes. Divide its right and left parts in half. This will be the middle of the eyes (pupils).
  3. Divide the lower part of the vertical line into 5 equal segments. The tip of the nose will be located at the 2nd mark from the top, and the mouth will be between the 2nd and 5th mark.
  4. Divide the upper part of the vertical line into 4 equal segments. Hair should be 2 sections from the top. The bottom of the ears should be at the level of the tip of the nose, and the top should be at the level of the eyelids.

Artists use small tips for drawing portraits:

  • the width of the face consists of 5 segments equal to the width of the eyes;
  • the distance between the eyes is approximately equal to the width of one eye;
  • the width of the chin is equal to the length of the eye.

These standards are adjusted individually.

Profile

  1. The profile also resembles an egg in shape, but its sharp part is shifted into a corner.
  2. Divide the drawn figure with two perpendicular lines.
  3. The ear is behind the vertical line. The depth of the skull is drawn individually.
  4. The correct location of the nose, eyes, eyebrows has already been sorted out in the subparagraph "Full face".

Detailing the face: drawing the eyes, contours of the eyebrows, nose, lips, ears

Eyes

Since the shape of the eyes of each person is different, it is impossible to accurately describe this process. The middle of the eye is already marked. Now draw two arcs on the right and left, which you will later "turn" into eyes.

The main points to pay attention to when drawing eyes:

  • the outer part of the eye is always slightly higher than the inner part;
  • the arches of the eyes are rounded closer to the inner part of the eye and narrowed towards the outer;
  • if a person looks straight, then the iris of his eye is always slightly covered by the upper eyelid;
  • eyelashes always begin to draw from the century;
  • the lower eyelashes are always shorter than the upper ones;
  • do not forget that the tear ducts, lower and upper eyelids should be drawn near the eye.

Very often, beginners, having drawn one eye, stop looking at the photo and copy the second eye from their drawing. Do not forget that people's faces are not proportional. The second eye will be a couple of millimeters wider / narrower, higher / lower. The eyelid over the right eye may be lower than over the left. All these little things must be carefully copied from the photograph.

If you draw a face in profile, then the eye here will resemble the shape of an arrowhead with convex and concave sides. The iris is hard to see from the side, but when drawing a portrait, you need to draw it so that the eye does not look strange.

Brows

The widest part of the eyebrow is often closer to the bridge of the nose. Do not start drawing hairs right away. Define the shape of the eyebrows. If you draw a face in profile, then their shape will resemble a comma.

Nose

The easiest way to draw a nose is illustrated in the picture. Draw a circle, then add wings and "backs" to it. At the very end, it remains to circle the nostrils with a pencil.

There is a more complex but realistic way to draw this part of the face. As shown in the picture, draw a polyhedron. The shape of the polyhedron changes depending on the position of the face. Next, start rounding the geometric shape.

Lips

Start drawing lips from the inner line, from the place where the lower and upper lips meet. This line will never be perfectly straight, it always consists of several curved lines.

The inner line of the mouth is always darker in the drawing than the outer contours of the lips, and the upper lip is often smaller than the lower.

If you draw a face in profile, then never bring the tip of the lip up sharply. Draw the middle line of the lips first straight or down, and then lift it up.

Ears

The human ear can be represented as the letter C. Don't forget that the ear has a rim and an inner part that resembles an arc, and a lobe. Be sure to draw these main parts of the ear.

Hatching and shading

It seems that you are already at the finish line, but the portrait is absolutely unrealistic. Hatching and elaboration of halftones is something you cannot do without when drawing a portrait of a person.

First of all, determine where the light falls on the face and where the darkest places are. Apply strokes on the face in one direction - from top to bottom. To give the skin a matte finish, blend the lines with your finger or a regular tissue. Use the eraser tool to lighten the areas in the portrait.

Highlighting and darkening areas of the face

Highlighting and darkening areas of the face is necessary so that the face on the sheet of paper looks voluminous, and not flat:

  • If you need to lighten an already painted area, then use the eraser.
  • Start sketching parts of the face with light lines. Do not press hard on the pencil.
  • Overlay lines in layers. The more lines, the darker the area of the face will be.

How to draw portraits of people with a pencil from different angles: full face, profile, head turn

We have figured out how to draw the full face and profile of a person.

  1. If you are drawing a person from the back, then you may not be able to see all parts of his face.
  2. With the face turned almost in profile, the middle line of the lips is very small, the line of the neck merges with the line of the chin. A part of the cheek is also visible, behind which the human nostril is shown.
  3. When a person is turned almost back to you, you can clearly see the line of the eyebrows, cheekbone, neck line, which tends to the ear (if this part is not covered by hair).
  4. When turning the person's face more, you see eyelashes, a small part of the eyebrow, the protrusion of the lower eyelid and the tip of the nose.

How to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil: the basics and secrets of skill

  1. The focus should be on the eyes of the person.
  2. Try to draw not only the head, but also the shoulders, neck decoration, collar, etc.
  3. Never start drawing small details without properly marked outlines.
  4. Outlining the contours, do not press hard on the pencil, draw with barely noticeable lines.
  5. Pay special attention to the proportions of the person's head.

How to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil: video tutorials

The person whose portrait you decide to draw will definitely appreciate your efforts. Such a gift can be made to yourself. If you are afraid of the amount of work ahead, practice drawing individual parts of the face. In the future, it will be easier for you to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil.

Here you will find step-by-step instructions on how to draw a person's face, consider the simplest version of drawing a face, and then try to draw a girl's face, which will help you understand the nuances of drawing a person's face in more detail.

Draw the proportions of a human face: Full face

1. Draw a circle. Then we finish drawing an oval or even an egg shape pointed at the bottom.
2. We draw two lines perpendicular to the center, which divide the "egg" into four parts. To distribute facial features.
3. Mark the midpoints of the left and right halves of the horizontal line. These points will be the eyes.

4. Divide the vertical bottom line into five equal parts. The tip of the nose will be at the second point from the center. The lip fold will be at the third point from the center, one current below the tip of the nose.
5. Divide the upper half of the head into four equal parts: the hairline (if the person does not have bald patches) will be located between the second and third points from the center. The ear will be located between the upper eyelid and the tip of the nose (if the face is at the same level). When a person looks up or down, the position of the ears changes.
6. The face is ready!

And now we will try to draw a girl's face

1. First of all, draw an oval. Try to make this oval fairly even. Divide the face with a horizontal line into two equal parts. In the future, eyes will appear on this line.
2. Now we mark with straight lines the location of the lips, nose and eyebrows. Please note that the distances from the bottom of the chin to the beginning of the nose, from the nose to the eyebrows and from the eyebrows to the hairline are approximately equal. I marked these segments to the right of the head for clarity. And one more thing - all these lines are parallel to each other. They should not go awry, otherwise the face will be very far from ideal.
3. Now let's start drawing the eyes. The outer and inner corners of the eyes, as a rule, are at different levels. We will draw the eyes, the inner corners of which are slightly lower than the outer ones. Above the already drawn line of the eyes, mark the height of the outer corners. We also draw the middle line of the face, dividing the oval into two equal parts: right and left.
4. Now we mark two small vertical segments on the bridge of the nose - the distance between the eyes. The right and left segment should be equal in length, because the human face is quite symmetrical. Now we measure the resulting double segment and set aside the same distance to the right and left of it - these will be the eyes. The distance between the eyes is approximately equal to the length of the eye. Between the eye and the outline of the oval (where the person has temples) there should be free space. If this space was not there, and the eyes rested on the lines of the oval, reduce the distance between the eyes and, accordingly, the section of the eyes.
5. Now mark the nose and lips. Look at your nose. Where is it the widest? That's right, where the wings of the nose are. If we drop vertical straight lines from the inner corners of the eyes, then we can determine the location of the wings of the nose. Of course, people's faces are very different from each other. Some noses can be very wide, while others, on the contrary, are small. We are drawing an average face, so the width of the nose is exactly that. At the same stage, we mark the outer corners of the lips. To do this, we lower straight lines down approximately from the middle of each eye.
6. We begin to draw the eyes on the girl's face. The inner corners of the eyes are slightly higher. The iris of the eye (the colored circle in the middle) is not entirely visible. Its upper part is slightly hidden under the upper eyelid, and the lower part lies on the lower eyelid.
7. Now we draw the upper and lower eyelids on the eyes. They follow the contours of the girl's eyes. Let's work a little on the structure of the nose. First, we depict the wings of the nose with rounded lines. Secondly, with a small circle we mark the most prominent part of the nose - the tip.

8. Now let's draw the bridge of the nose. At eye level or slightly above is the thinnest part of the nose. To the bottom and to the top of this line, the nose expands. This shape is somewhat reminiscent of an hourglass. We also draw nostrils.
9. Now we will draw the girl's lips. We already have the middle line of the lips. We will slightly modify it by rounding the middle part. Then draw the outlines of the upper lip with a hollow in the middle.
10. If you want to draw a half-open mouth, then you need to leave a small distance between the upper and lower lip. And then draw a plump lower lip with a rounded line.
11. In order for the girl's face to become more expressive, it is necessary to draw eyebrows. We have a line indicating the location of the eyebrows. Of course, the eyebrows will not be straight, like this line. They are always curved. The eyebrows are raised from the nose towards the temples. With the help of the shape of the eyebrows, you can depict facial expressions. If you raise the inner corners of the eyebrows above the outer ones, we get a sad or even crying face. Conversely, to draw an evil face, you need to bring your eyebrows to the bridge of your nose.
12. It's time to refine the contours of the face. The girl's face cannot be a regular oval, it has reliefs. At the level of the cheekbones, the face will be widest.
13. Now let's draw a hairstyle. The girl has loose wavy hair. We have a hairline marked. Here will be the "beginning" of our hairstyle.

14. Draw the height of the girl's hairstyle. She has quite thick hair.
15. At this stage, you can start hatching the pattern. We look at the photo or the reflection of the face in the mirror. Where is the face darkened? We shade the areas with uniform lines, without pressing the pencil. We darken the iris of the eyes, not forgetting to leave a glare of light.
16. On top of the first layer of hatching, we impose the next one where the shadows are darker.
17. Shading not only the face, but also the hair.
18. At the last stage, we will use a soft pencil. I took a 5B pencil. In order to make the face more expressive, we will focus on the eyes, eyebrows and lips. Darken the iris, the lash line (especially the upper ones). Also darken the corners of the lips, the hair on the sides of the face.

Well, you have almost learned how to draw a person's face, now it remains to practice, for this you can sit in front of the mirror and take your self-portrait, or take a photo and try to redraw the portrait of another person.
The most important thing is never stop in the middle, if you have some part of the face that did not work out (nose, lips, eyes or something else), still continue to draw the entire portrait to the end, and only then start drawing again. Remember skill comes with experience!

When working with nature, the light should not be too bright and fall on the person's head a little from above. Because of this, the light will fall in such a way that it will be easier for you to depict the main features of a person. If the light source is too bright, then our nature will have to wrinkle our eyes and unnaturally strain some muscles, we do not need this, so watch the light source.

Drawing proceeds from the general to the particular. That is, we outline the base, and then we detail it.

Carefully study the characteristic forms of the person you are drawing. Even if you are drawing from a picture, you should still study it carefully.

Even if you make a beautiful nose. eyes or mouth, but the general shape of the head will not correspond to reality, then the work can be considered unsuccessful.

Once you have analyzed the general features of the face, it's time to analyze the small elements: eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

The eyes are a very important element. They convey character, emotions, physical and psychological state in general. Notice the eyelashes. Do not forget about the eyebrows. They are very good at showing when someone is angry or sad.

Ears are drawn almost the same way. It's not the most important part, but still...
They are usually depicted on the same straight line with the nose.

The nose is not as easy to draw as it seems, it is a rather difficult part of the face to draw. The difficulty also lies in the fact that people have different noses. Once you have mastered one type, you may not be able to draw another type as well.

The lips or mouth are also a very expressive part, despite the fact that they are drawn in almost the same way. Depending on gender and race, lips can be thin or thicker.
The upper and lower lip may be approximately the same size. It is also possible that the lower lip will be larger than the upper one and vice versa.

If you have ever picked up a simple pencil and drew people, then most likely you know how difficult it is to create a portrait of a person. Indeed, in addition to the general outlines, it is necessary to use three-dimensional graphics, the play of light and shadow. This must be done in order for the flat image to come to life and look the most realistic. However, not everyone knows about the use of such a technique. Therefore, we decided in our article to talk about how to draw portraits of people correctly.

What is a portrait of a person?

Before you start drawing, you need to find out what a portrait is. Basically, this is an image of the head (from the top of the head to the shoulders). A little less often, portraits depict people in full growth. The purpose of such a drawing is to convey as accurately as possible the image that the artist sees in the image of the model. Portraits can be drawn with simple paints, crayons, charcoal.

Every artist knows a person, regardless of the technique used and the tools at hand. In this case, the master performs a drawing using light and shadow. But in order to get a more or less realistic and close to the original portrait, you need to practice. As practice shows, you need to make at least 50-100 drawings.

This is necessary in order to fill your hand and develop your own technique on the canvas.

What are portraits of people?

Before you draw portraits of people, you need to find out what they are. In this case, it all depends on the gender and age of the model with which the portrait is made. For example, images can be female and male, children's. At the same time, they differ from each other. In particular, the male pattern differs from the female one in the coarser presence of a massive chin, in men it is sharper and wider.

In addition, male portraits are characterized by the presence of protruding parts of the face: cheekbones and brow ridges. Women's drawings contain more rounded shapes and smoothed corners in the forehead and chin.

We prepare all the supplies for drawing

At the first stage, it is recommended to prepare a sheet of paper, a few simple pencils with different levels of softness, and an eraser. Experienced artists also use a number of additional tools, such as an electric eraser, which works more gently and does not leave such streaks as a regular eraser. Before you draw portraits of people and make them realistic, you need to carefully follow our instructions step by step.

And, of course, take care of the model or find from which you will draw a portrait.

Choose a simple pattern

If you are just starting to take your first steps in the fine arts, then you should look for photos or pictures that show not too complicated portraits of people. For beginners, drawing pictures made in a difficult technique is undesirable. It is better to choose a photo simpler. As an example, we will explain how to draw a female image.

Define the top and bottom of the image

In the next step, take a sheet of paper, carefully examine your model, study all the details and start drawing. Determine the top of the future sketch and the bottom. Make visual measurements of the face parameters of the image. This must be done so that you get the most accurate picture. Yes, and so that everything fits on your worksheet: hair, forehead, chin, neck and, possibly, shoulders.

Next, we draw a portrait of a person in stages as follows: divide your sheet of paper exactly in half horizontally; repeat the same vertically; you should end up with four identical squares. In this case, you should not press too hard on the pencil, since all these lines are auxiliary, and will subsequently be erased.

Delimitation of a plane on a sheet

Take a pencil and go to one of the nearest top squares. Split it in half. Do the same with both squares in the lower plane. Then divide the bottom squares in half again.

We outline the oval of the face

Next, we draw a portrait of a person in stages, starting with a sketch. To do this, go to the horizontal line of demarcation on the sheet, and then, stepping back a few centimeters from the beginning of the page, draw the lines of the face. Pull them all the way to the bottom and round off at the end. Moreover, the resulting facial lines should ideally be completely symmetrical. Thus, you will get an oval face, cheeks, cheekbones and chin.

We outline the lines of the nose, forehead and hair

At the next stage of drawing in the middle of the oval of the face, we outline the nose area with two lines. We outline more clearly the chin and lines to the hair area. We make an indent in the forehead area. And then with wave-like movements we draw bangs and hair.

How to draw a portrait of a person with a pencil, using shading and an eraser, we will tell further.

Draw eyebrows and wings of the nose

The next step will be drawing the eyebrows and wings of the nose. Move the pencil to the top plane of the drawing. Step back a little from the forehead and cheekbones. Draw eyebrows resembling two identical and symmetrical, slightly raised arches. Then we move on to drawing the nose. To do this, in the middle of two strips (did them in the previous step), draw the upper and lower parts of the nose. The rest of the face is made clearer.

How to draw a portrait of a person using light and shadow, we'll talk later, when our picture is completely ready.

Draw eyes and nostrils

The next step is to draw the outlines of the eyes and nostrils. To do this, draw two lines clearly under the eyebrows and draw slightly elongated ovals of the eyes. Then draw pupils, eyelids and eyelashes inside them. Go down to the nose and point the nostrils.

Draw lips and ears

At the final stage of creating a sketch, we make a small drop-fold under the nose and draw lips. Next, draw the ears and part of the neck. The sketch is ready. It remains only to shade all parts of the face, using a harder pencil and an eraser. At the same time, in those areas where you overdo it a little with the shadow, you can make white areas with the help of an eraser.

Now you know how to draw portraits of people with a regular pencil.

Hello dear readers of my blog. I'm in touch with you, Timur Mustaev. More recently, I started to get involved in pencil drawing. My buddy is so good at it that I asked him for a couple of lessons. And I also asked him to write an article, specifically for beginners in drawing, such as me, which describes in detail all the stages of drawing. Today, in this article, he shares his tips and secrets.

Before I start, I want to reveal the secret of how my friend learned to draw. He took a video course Draw a portrait from a photo"and the result is on the face. Moreover, the author of the course promises a full refund if you do not learn how to draw. But as my friend says, this is simply not possible! The course is very clear and everything is shown with examples.

Draw a portrait from a photo

Drawing something is not easy, but the process of mastering the technique of creating a portrait will go much faster if you take a few tips from this article into service.

After all, as it happens, you seem to draw, erase, draw again, harass "tons" of paper, but there are no results. What is the reason for such failures?

The thing is that when trying to draw the eyes, nose or other parts of the model, beginners lose sight of the fact that the picture should be written from the whole to the particular.

How to draw a portrait with a pencil step by step for beginners? Moving from simple to complex. I'll give you an example. Remember how a man emerges from the fog? First, vague outlines appear. With the disappearance of haze, facial features become clearer. It should also be on paper.

There are three angles: profile, full face and half turn - the so-called three-quarters.

Beginners may be advised to try to paint a portrait of a person sitting in three-quarters or to the side. Then, when the technique of creating a face in a half-turn has been perfected, it will be possible to work on more complex techniques, writing a face full face.

However, if you believe in yourself, you can try to draw a straight sitting person from life.

Where to start?

The frame or basis of the portrait is the oval of the head and the points of location of the eyes, ears, chin, nose, eyebrows. To make it clearer, I will show you how to mark the contours of the face. Take, for example, the portrait of a girl.

What shape of head does she have? ovoid? Round? Oval with a square chin?

You can buy Here.

Extend the pencil in your hand, pointing it towards the model. Mark the distance between the top of the head and the chin on paper. Also note the width. Now put all these values on paper using dots, not forgetting about proportions and scale.

To draw from a photo, measure the parameters with a ruler, outline the estimated width and height of the head. Write the shape of the head.

Remember that the width of the head is ¾ of the height. In reality, there may be deviations of 1-2 cm. So, carefully measure the height and width, check their ratio.

The outlines should be light and delicate, barely noticeable. An HB pencil is suitable for this. Now you are ready for the next step.

Many try to master the art of drawing a portrait, but they fail. Either the nose is swollen, like a pig's, or the eyes are too small. It is important at this stage to compare the standard with the original (model or photo).

Each person has his own characteristics. It can be wide cheekbones, a large bulbous nose, deep-set eyes. Look and notice. How do you usually draw? Where do you start your work?

Reference

The golden rule of portrait painters is the so-called standard. A unique masterpiece, that is, a face, is subsequently molded from it.

It included the following components:

  1. The segment exactly in the middle between the crown of the head and the chin indicates the line of the eyes.
  2. The next line runs in the middle between the eyebrow line and the end of the chin. This is the nose line.
  3. Divide the segment between the nose and chin into three parts. The lower border of the upper third is the location of the lips. It can be a little higher or lower, it all depends on the characteristics of the person.
  4. To find the brow line, divide the height of your head by three and a half. Half of the three parts indicates the hairline. The second feature behind it is the eyebrow line. The third feature is the line of the nose.

After you have outlined the oval, mark the protruding elements:

  • cheekbones;
  • chin.

Divide your face in half vertically. In the case of a half turn, see an example.

The line passes and divides the "egg" in half. One half should be smaller than the other, as it is farther away.

chopping head

In professional art schools, beginner portrait painters study the so-called "stump". This is a human head, presented in a simplified version.

We will try to draw a kind of stump of our model in a simple design.

This is the second stage.

Note the characteristics of the person:

  • the thickness of the cheekbones, the inflowing and protruding parts of the face, a kind of relief;
  • the thickness of the bridge of the nose, the base of the nose;
  • the width and height of the eyes, their location;
  • thickness and width of the lips;
  • eyebrows, their bend, direction, thickness;
  • chin shape: triangular, square, etc.

Now, let me show you how to draw eyes.

Spherical mirrors

The eyes are a round sphere. This roundness must be conveyed on the sheet. At the same time, the whites of the eyes are never left white, but are shaded, adding a body. To make it clear that the eye has a spherical shape.

Finding the eye is pretty easy. Divide the width of the head into five parts. The 2nd and 4th parts represent the eyes. But these are the proportions for the full face. How to draw eyes in a half turn?

In this case, you simply mark the very eye socket, recess or temporal part of the head and dance from it. Measure the farthest eye, it is smaller in size than the second. Measure the distance between the eyes and mark on paper. Also repeat for the other eye.

Outline the eye with a quadrilateral, marking the width and height with notches.

Look carefully at the model or photo. What is the shape of the eyes of the original? How is the width related to the height of the eye?

Draw line segments showing the position of the eyelids.

At the same time, the lower eyelid is never made dark. Take a closer look at how to depict the thickness of the lower eyelid. It is a tone darker than the whites of the eyes.

Nose

Now let's start creating the plane of the nose. To do this, you need to know several relationships:

  1. Draw lines parallel to each other from the corners of the inner eyelid down. Mark the location of the wings of the nose.
  2. When creating a face in a half turn, the second line coming from the far eye will hide behind the bridge of the nose.

Construct a trapezoid at the base of the nose, having previously drawn the lines of the back of the nose. To do this, put a pencil parallel to the vertical axis and remember the angle between the back of the nose and the axis, transfer to paper.

Lips

The location of the lips can be found like this. If you divide the height of the head into 8 parts, then the fifth line down from the crown of the head will be the line of the lips.

Write the mouth as if it were drawn on a cylinder.

The upper lip should be 1/3 of the height of the lips. The width of the lips is equal to the distance between the center of the pupils. In a half turn, measure in the photo and adjust to your scale.

There is another measure of the width of the lips: it is equal to a segment of one and a half eyes.

Ears

How to draw ears, look at the pictures. The ear is located between the brow and nasal lines.

In the ¾ portrait, the man is depicted with one ear, the second ear is “hidden”. Remember, the ear should be tilted towards the head.

It can be determined by drawing a straight line connecting the jugular cavity and the ear. Or simply by attaching a pencil to the photo, measuring the angle of inclination by eye.

memo

And some more rules:

  1. If you are painting a waist-deep portrait of a person, determine the axis that bisects the face so that you can locate the eyes, nose and ears, eyebrows, etc. It passes through the jugular cavity or between the collarbones in the center;
  2. The width of the head along the line of the eyes is 2/3 of its height;
  3. The widest part of the head is the basis for finding the width of the lower jaw (¾ of the larger value).

Detailing

The third stage of creating a portrait includes detailed drawing. Remove extra lines, start to achieve resemblance to the photo. At the same time, measure the width of the eyes, nose and other parts and compare them with the width of the face. Draw smooth lines, roundness.

The last final stage is hatching.

Hatch from dark areas gradually moving to the lightest. Lastly, highlight, add highlights to the pupils, the tip of the nose and other parts.

The picture is ready.

Finally, I want to tell you that portraits can be without shading. For example, a linear portrait uses a line as a pictorial means.

See how to draw a girl.

In this drawing lesson, we will learn how to draw a woman's face, building a face, how to draw a girl's face with a pencil step by step.

Where we start is by drawing a circle. Then we draw a line where the middle of the head should be, then two vertical straight lines, the upper one is the line of the eyebrows, the second is the line of the eyes. We measure and put a dash where the nose ends (done by eye or measured). Now we measure distance 2 and lay the same down and up (3 and 1, respectively).

The eye line is divided into 5 equal parts. In humans, the distance between the eyes is equal to the eye itself, but there are of course exceptions, not without it. The distance from the nose to the chin is divided into three equal parts. We make a sketch of the contour of the face. From the beginning of the eyes down with a dotted line, we debug straight lines to the nose. When drawing, the wings of the nose should not go beyond these boundaries.

Now we draw eyes, a nose, a mouth, eyebrows, direct a face contour, we draw a top of the head, hair, ears. It is not necessary to draw each eyelash, it is enough to draw a general shape. Eyelashes go beyond the size of the eye, i.e. for our traits. When drawing lips, the first line is the bottom of the upper lip. The site has many drawing lessons for eyes and mouths, for example, lips - and, eyes - and.

Erase all auxiliary elements, draw the neck and shoulders of the girl, hair. You can finish the principle on this, or you can add a little shadows for realism.
