Last days Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KIS) started sending messages about the fact that the license is expiring. I bought a new license and received an activation code by mail. Until today I was using the 2013 version, but decided to upgrade to the new version. I have been using KIS 2013 for more than 1.5 years and I can say the following about it:
- Reliable antivirus that did not let me down. Since I use various payment systems (Sberbank Online, Yandex.Money, WebMoney), it is relevant for me;
- During use, there was a specific glitch when working with Windows 7 - when archiving, unpacking or copying large files, the process hung. It was not possible to remove the task using the task manager (it was not possible to start by pressing the keys (Ctrl + Alt + Del), I had to restart the computer. The situation was resolved after updating either Windows or the antivirus, I could not say for sure;
- I don’t know how it is on weak computers and laptops, but Kaspersky 2013 didn’t bother me much.
Today we will figure out how to update Kaspersky Antivirus 2013 to Kaspersky 2014 and enter the activation code for the program.
KIS antivirus update
If you plan to renew your license for Kaspersky Anti-Virus, do not remove the old license. The fact is that by extending KIS, we get a discount that reaches up to 35%.
Attention! Do not delete your current license information before installing a new version of the product, it will be required to activate your renewal license.
Step 1. Download Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 for Windows from the download page of the official Kaspersky Lab website.
Step 2. Run the downloaded file and give permission to install.
After warning the Windows security system, we give permission to install a new version of the antivirus by clicking on the "Run" button
You must restart your computer to complete the installation.
It is advisable to immediately restart the computer, since before rebooting the PC will work without the protection of an anti-virus program: old version no longer works, and the installation of a new one has not been completed.
To complete the installation of the antivirus, click on the button "Finish and reinstall"
After reboot a new version Kaspersky is completely ready to go. Since KIS 2014 was installed over KIS 2013, the license information has been preserved.

Now it remains to enter the purchased activation code for Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
How to enter an activation code
To enter the activation code for Kaspersky 2014, you need to take several steps.
Step 2. In the window that appears, click on the "Enter activation code" button.
Click on the "Enter activation code" button
Step 3. Enter the activation code (you can simply copy it to the clipboard and paste it into the first field) and click "Activate".

Since my old key is still active, KIS tells me about it.
You should not activate a new (backup) code if the old key is in working condition. After the expiration of the old key, the program will be automatically activated with a new code.

If you click on the "Activate now" button, then the new code will be activated immediately and the countdown of 365 days will start.
What to do if you can't activate Kaspersky
It happens that when you try to activate the program, Kaspersky writes "Invalid activation code."

There are two possible reasons why Kaspersky Anti-Virus cannot be activated:
- The banal reason is that the code is really entered incorrectly.
- Too little time has passed since the purchase of the antivirus and the code has not been activated on the Kaspersky Lab server. In this case, you need to wait a bit and try to activate again.
If you are unable to activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus even after a long time after purchasing a license, the problem must be solved through your personal account.
