Cool hour - game "happy occasion". Scam on TV or a tempting profitable TV quiz

03.03.2019

Any of the Russian viewers at least once saw the program “Own Game” on the NTV channel, in which erudite and very quick-thinking participants earn money by answering various questions. And for sure, many would like to participate in such a game, especially if the questions are easier. And today, many TV channels provide their viewers with such a wonderful opportunity. We turn on the TV after midnight and, clicking the remote control, we find a program in which a pretty TV presenter offers quite a decent amount to someone who guesses a word from 10-15 letters displayed on the screen, or finds five differences in two drawings, or correctly names a surname famous artist on the portrait.

We look at the task - and after a few seconds we understand that we know the correct answer! The very answer that no one can guess in any way, despite all the calls and hints of the presenter. It remains only to dial the phone number displayed on the screen - and you can enjoy such an easy replenishment of the family budget. Importantly, in the Russian Federation you can only call with mobile phone(in Ukraine and from a landline).

And this is where an unpleasant surprise awaits us, even two surprises: the first is that by dialing the number, we do not get into the live broadcast at all, but instead we hear an answering machine that says that “this time you were not lucky, try calling again ". And the second surprise awaits us when checking the balance on our mobile - this same balance has "lost" by 80-100 rubles. And if you heed the advice of the answering machine, and call again, and again, and again - every time money will leave the account, and the live broadcast (on which someone calls every now and then - but instead of the answer we know calls all nonsense) - so remains inaccessible, as well as the money that the girl from the TV screen is eager to give to the winner. And in some phone quizzes, the answering machine does not say “bad luck”, but suggests waiting live broadcast. Taking into account the cost of a minute, all in the same 80-100 rubles, this expectation will most likely end along with the money in the account - this is in the case of a mobile phone, and in the case of a landline, which is relevant for Ukraine, the connection will not be interrupted, but the telephone that came at the end of the month the bill can cause a slight shock. Or heavy, depending on the tenacity with which we tried to get through.

The host in desperation is increasing the amount of the winnings, the initial two thousand rubles have already grown to eight, or even twelve thousand, and there is no and no answer on the air (the answer that we guessed in a few seconds!)

However, the answering machine can also say a more encouraging phrase that "you are allowed to participate in the quiz, expect a call." But there is still no call and no, and the wait ends with the fact that finally someone, but not us, calls cherished word live, the presenter asks the lucky person not to hang up - they will explain to him how to get the winnings, and the drawing of money ends.

This is how it goes for someone who first saw a phone quiz and forgot about where the free cheese is. So what is it? Deception? Fraud on federal TV channel? Yes and no. Let's take a closer look at what an IVR quiz is.

IVR stands for Interactive Voice Response. This is a technology for automated processing of telephone calls using an answering machine. This technology is used in call centers that receive and distribute a lot of calls, for example, by calling the reference number of your operator, you will just get into the IVR system, which will give you hints and which you will control by pressing certain keys on the phone.

In the case of television IVR quizzes, this system is greatly simplified - the answering machine, at the command of the computer, answers an incoming call with either one or another message. The numbers to which the second message was given are remembered, and one of them is selected, which will be allowed on the air. Yes Yes. It was one of the many people who called. This is indicated by a scrolling line at the very bottom of the screen in small print: for example, every 50th caller is allowed to participate in the IVR quiz, every 100th of those who to participate in the IVR quiz. And that the call is free. And that no one under the age of 18 is allowed to participate. And the address of the site where you can find full terms participation in the TV show.

At the end of the transfer (or at the end of the time allotted for the task, if there are several tasks in one transfer), the system selects one of the “allowed to participate” numbers and calls it. After that, the participant, who was lucky this time, happily calls his answer live on the air, and if this answer is correct (that is, if this participant has at least some brains) - the drawing is over, the prize goes to the lucky one, and the rest of those who called - only pretty "thinner" phone bill.

So, is it a scam or not?

Fraud or not? A real TV quiz show or a scam? Legally not to dig: the organizers warned about everything, and if someone did not see fine print, not familiar with full rules- the organizer is not to blame. The scheme of work is legal, which means that the word "fraud" is not applicable.

But elementary dishonesty, dishonesty, deceit is evident in the following points:

1. After reading the full rules, the desire to take part in the IVR quiz will probably disappear from the majority of potential participants. Judge for yourself: at a bet of 80 rubles, the opportunity to win 10-15 thousand, perhaps, would have been attractive if it were not for the extremely low chances of winning - 1:5000 for the given example. There are also less greedy organizers, where every 500th caller is allowed to live broadcast, but there the winnings are more modest - usually 2-3 thousand rubles.

Example. By betting 80 rubles on a roulette number, you can get 2880 rubles. with odds 1:37. For every 36 losers, there is 1 winner of exactly 35 bets (only one bet out of 36 made, if the entire field was covered, goes to the roulette owner - and at the same time, roulette owners earn very solid money). And in the IVR quiz for 4999 losers, one winner is 125 bets (10,000 r is the average win in such quizzes), that is, out of 5000 bets made, 4875 go to the organizer. Roulette is resting.

Therefore, the rules are “hidden” so that as few potential participants as possible get acquainted with them. The information seems to be there, but access to it is extremely difficult. It is not written directly that one out of five thousand will go on air - instead, “every 50th is allowed to participate”, “every 100th is allowed to live” is no longer the same scary numbers, already it seems that there are more chances. And even a person who has read the rules on the site, who has realized real chances get on the air anyway will not know that the choice of the winning participant is made only at the end of the quiz, and may well believe the presenter, who ... see paragraph 2

2. The host on the air periodically says outright lies - "call as soon as possible so that no one gets ahead of you." This is a typical technique for scammers - to rush a potential victim, not giving her the opportunity to think about what she is being persuaded to do. For the same purpose, timers on the screen (as in), on which all the time some two minutes, one minute, ten seconds - during the entire half-hour action. Everything calls for it - “rather, rather, you won’t have time, they will get ahead” ... Calls from the presenter to hurry up, decreasing numbers on the timer, exclamations “we have the last ten seconds!” confuse people, not allowing them to think, to get a grasp. And in the case of an IVR quiz, they also serve to more evenly distribute calls during a TV show: since the majority of participants, quite logically reasoning that “the win is given only at the end” or “you have to be the 5000th caller to win,” will try to call at the last moment. Wherein most of airtime will be wasted, and by the end of the transfer, the system may be overloaded with calls and miss some of the profit. Just for such participants in a half-hour show with one task, there are dozens of " last moments”, “last seconds”, etc.

3. Another constantly sounding lie of the presenter - phrases like “well, really no one can guess this word”, “well, why does no one call”, “why does no one want to get on the air and take the money” - someone who, but she knows that the calls are continuous, she understands perfectly well that it is not difficult to guess the answer, and that the only reason that this answer is still not there is that none of the callers immediately gets on the air. Only the one to whom the system makes a return call will go live, and not at random, but only at the right time (it is easy to guess that this moment comes when the planned amount has been collected, and you can give the following task to raise the interest of the audience, and, perhaps even force those who were “unlucky” with the previous task to participate, or simply - at the very end of the paid airtime).

4. From time to time, calls in the studio are still heard, but instead of the correct answer understandable to everyone, nonsense sounds, well, not suitable for the conditions of the task, not suitable for the prompts repeated by the presenter. Prove it's not real calls, but simply a means to spur potential participants is sometimes easy - in some IVR quizzes they are allowed on the principle "you can't spoil the porridge with butter" every few seconds. But we remember that only one in 5,000 callers is on the air - and, accordingly, either half a million people call within 10 minutes - and all those who called for some reason are idiots who do not understand the conditions of the task - or, which is much more likely, it is, which, as they say, is a setup. Moreover, sometimes the director makes a mistake and broadcasts the wrong answer, which has already been given earlier (in the same voice), or even from a different task.

5. The program itself is framed according to a typical hypnotizing pattern - the studio is filmed with a continuously moving back and forth camera, the inscriptions blink, the presenter actively gesticulates, waves bills and chirps without ceasing to prevent concentration, confuse, suppress the will, and force to make a call ( hard work, by the way, work).

6. Only a legal “excuse” saves from the definition of IVR quizzes as a game of chance: the signs of gambling are: the presence of bets, the presence of winnings, the random nature of winning by players. Formally, of course, a participant admitted to the live broadcast may incorrectly name the word that consists of the letters “GURSNCHEOKA”, despite the hint “whom the children call in chorus on New Year". Formally, yes. Essentially, no.

7. Persons under the age of 18 are not eligible to participate in the IVR quiz. The organizers, of course, understand that it is possible to sum up their “show” as a game of chance, therefore they prohibit minors from taking part in it. But the organization of the IVR quiz does not prevent the fact that minors can place bets on an equal basis with everyone else. Moreover, such participants in the IVR quiz are even beneficial - if a young participant has a win, they will not give it away, this is indicated in the rules. In a casino, for example, a minor will not be allowed in, they will not be allowed to participate in the game. And then "they won't give away the winnings." As they say, feel the difference.

But to the sacramental question - “do they pay the winnings, or the whole transmission in progress in the record, and only front players win in it, ”the answer is simple: yes, most likely, they pay. Having collected half a million, you can give five to ten thousand to one of the participants. Otherwise, it would already be fraud, but why substitute for the article? After all, this is the smallest cost compared to others - the collected money is divided in different shares between: a mobile operator, a short number aggregator, a TV channel and the organizer of the TV quiz itself.

So let's sum up

An IVR quiz is essentially a veiled form of gambling. Moreover, they try to hide the fact that this is a game of chance from the participants. As well as what expected value winnings - a term familiar to many gamblers - is strongly negative.

By the way, other programs are built on the same principle of IVR quizzes, in which it is proposed to call a short number to ask a question to some astrologer or psychic live. It's less like a game of chance (there's no winnings) and more like a scam (the live TV service offered is paid for by each caller, but only one in a thousand, or even less, gets it).

So to all potential participants in such quizzes, we can say the following:

Do not forget that your cell phone is not only a means of communication, but also a means of payment that allows you to give money from your cellular account to who knows who and who knows what. Sending SMS or calling short numbers should be done after thinking twice. Or thrice. Because short numbers are just designed to withdraw money from your account. And in the case of IVR quizzes, your phone becomes a means of drawing you into a gambling game, and not the most honest one at that. And in gambling only their organizer wins.

The first traffic light was invented in 1868 in London. It was a gas lantern with two filters: green and red. The colors were changed using a manual drive, which was controlled by a policeman.

Leading . Reading a poem by A. Severny “Three wonderful colors”:

To help you
The path is dangerous
Burning day and night
Green, yellow, red.
Our house is a traffic light,
We are three brothers
We've been shining for a long time
On the road to all the guys.
We are three wonderful colors
You often see us
But our advice
You don't listen sometimes.
The most severe is red.
If it's on fire, stop!
Roads further - no,
The path is closed for everyone.
So that you calmly pass
Heed our advice
Wait!
You will soon see a yellow color in the middle.
And behind it is green
Flashes ahead,
He will say:
“There are no obstacles!” - boldly go on your way.
How can you do it without a fight?
traffic lights,
Go home and go to school
Of course, very soon.

Leading . The Lucky Chance quiz is over. I want to wish you all good health, and that you always, in any weather, in different time days, at all times of the year, they observed the rules of the road, did not endanger their lives and those around them. Thank you!

Here you are sitting, relaxing, watching TV, switching channels in search of something interesting and, by chance, you get on a quiz. A cute presenter chirps that you need to guess the word from the letters presented on the screen, and the prize is yours! Peering, you realize that guessing the word is simply incredibly easy. But for some reason, some idiots are dialing into the air, who still cannot give the right answer, but they carry some kind of nonsense. In desperation, the presenter raises the stakes of the prize and really hopes that someone will solve the riddle after all. Hmm ... a prize of 8-10 thousand rubles for one call? Why not! The hand is already reaching for the phone, and the stupid answers of other participants only provoke ... STOP! Don't rush to call if you don't want to lose money and call yourself a fool. Here is the so-called "Loho Guessing" - a legalized form of fraud on TV.

Guess the correct answer

Since the early 2000s, new entertainment programs- quizzes in which you need to guess the word, the name of the person or name the differences between the images. In the case of a correct answer, a person receives a quite solid prize - several thousand rubles.

There were many such programs on television: Letivizor, Mint, Treasure Island, Good Hour, happy hour" and others. All of them are similar to each other. There is a pleasant presenter on the screen, who sets a riddle for the audience. The one who calls the studio and gives the correct answer will receive a prize. However, most do not notice that at the bottom of the screen there is a small postscript in small print. It states that the call is paid, and its cost is from 30 rubles per minute, depending on the program.

It seems to be a little, only 30 rubles for the opportunity to win several thousand. A trifle! Moreover, this is not a lottery, and you just need to use your brains and say the right answer. However, this is even worse than the lottery. If such a factor as luck plays a role there, then no one will let you win in such a quiz. This is not good for the organizers. But they will be bred for a paid call in full.

Did you like the video?! Subscribe to our channel!

Well, well ... try calling!

It seems surprising that with such an obvious answer to the quiz, there are very few people who want to call. After all, during the broadcast, only a couple of people called. Yes, and those some illiterate schoolchildren who are talking nonsense. Isn't it all over the country? smart people who can make a word out of several letters or find 5 differences between two images? Or are you the only smart one?

In fact, there are a lot of people trying to get through on the air. But only none of them will be allowed to say anything, just like you. One has only to call, as you will hear something like “Hello! We accept a response to the studio only from the 5th caller. You are 3rd in line”, “Thank you for calling, but we cannot accept your response from your region”, etc. Or, in general, the network will be busy, so you will not be able to get through either on the 5th or on the 10th time. But the money will be deducted from your balance for each call.

In an attempt to get through and still be the person in the queue who will be allowed on the air, many call more than once. And money is dripping from your phone account to scammers ... And as a result, not 50-80 rubles are deducted, but several thousand, if you were too persistent.

But how do people get through? They call, but only these are fake people, or even the operators of this program themselves. Note that until the end of the broadcast, all answers will be wrong. This is done on purpose to convince the viewer that he is the only one so smart that he guessed. That he is all so exceptional, and at the same time encourage him to dial the coveted number.

The broadcast is deliberately delayed so that as many people as possible call. Also, especially for this, the presenter constantly raises the rates of the prize in order to cause a stir, and also talks incessantly about how, no one can give the correct answer, there is no one to give such a magnificent prize.

Both her words and the answers of those who called - all this is a game for the public, which should arouse the interest of the audience. Calling them and winning money is unrealistic. Here is what those who tried their luck in such a quiz write about it:

And here is the confession of one of the employees of the quiz, who openly tells how people are being fooled here.

Only for one ether, scammers manage to raise about 3 million rubles. Given that the average cost of one call in such quizzes is 50-80 rubles, you can imagine the number of people trying to get through to the studio. Alas, this deception has existed for more than one year, but it has not lost its position.

Therefore, do not try to call such a “Guessing Game”, even if you really want to, and you are completely sure of victory. You simply will not be allowed to say the right answer, but the money will be taken from you. And given that you are unlikely to limit yourself to just one call in excitement, you may later find that you have lost not 50-80 rubles, but several hundred, or even thousands. Why give them to scammers in pursuit of a ghostly prize?
