The house-museum is the poet's dacha, where he lived for more than thirty years of his life. The museum of the writer was opened here in 1996, although the wife and daughter of Korney Chukovsky allowed visitors here already in the 70s, almost immediately after his death. Chukovsky's relatives made a lot of efforts to keep the atmosphere at home the way it was during the life of the writer.

The museum complex today includes a memorial house, courtyard buildings - a white house, a former garage, a summer house and a garden plot with a campfire site.
The residential building is made of wooden logs and has two floors. There are three rooms on the first floor and two on the second. There are two verandas in the house - in front and behind the house, front, kitchen and stairs.

The house in Peredelkino became the main place of the writer's work, here he wrote most of the books for children and adults. In this house, Chukovsky worked on translations and held the famous "bonfires", with the participation of writers, actors, singers and magicians, to which children flocked from all the surrounding houses and pioneer camps.

Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky (03/31/1882-10/28/1969) was born in St. Petersburg. He never knew his father, so the writer invented Ivanovich's patronymic himself. Actually, like a first name with a surname. His real name was Nikolai Korneichukov.

My creative activity Chukovsky started as a journalist in the Odessa News newspaper, and also translated articles from English for publication.

After the Revolution, the writer retrained and began to write monographs. First of all, he wrote the book "The Mastery of Nekrasov", for which he was awarded the Lenin Prize. In addition, he studied the biographies of such famous writers like Chekhov and Dostoyevsky.

Around the same time, Chukovsky also wrote his first children's works. He composed them for his daughter Marusya. In 1923, “Cockroach” and “Moydodyr” came out, and a little later “Fly-Tsokotuha”, “Aibolit”, “Stolen Sun” and others.

In the last years of his life, the writer almost did not leave his dacha in Peredelkino. He often arranged meetings with children, gatherings by the fire, etc. Much that reminds of those days has survived to this day.

Foundation of the museum

The idea of ​​converting the house into a museum belongs to the daughter of the writer Lydia Chukovskaya. As she herself admitted, too many people wanted to see how he lived famous poet. True, manor for a long time not given the status of a national monument. The fact is that Soviet censorship did not favor the works of Chukovsky, especially children's books.
