And only later, when the picture was shown in cinemas, my friends told me over and over what a fucking movie it was, how to watch it, and in general: Wolverine he is cool. But then I never got the chance to watch it fully. The wonderful game of the same name based on this film, from which I received a whole lot of positive impressions, did not encourage me to watch it. And now, years later, I decided to evaluate this part of my favorite X franchise.
And first of all, it is worth noting that the plot of the film is much simpler than the story of any part of the trilogy. In places, the film looks like such an alien from the era of cool action movies of the 80s, and at one point I was directly afraid that I would see a remake of Commando. But one of the main problems of this prequel is its complete optionality. Wolverine, whatever one may say, not so interesting character so that a whole film is built on the history of its formation. Especially since the first two films about X quite coped with this role. The film alternately convulses in epileptic jumps of the plot, or even freezes in catatonia. And this unevenness of the narrative and prevents you from truly imbued with this character and feel his life. Yes and myself main character causes more bewilderment from its simplicity, narrow-mindedness and naivety. And the action itself in some places shows senselessly strange moments like a fight with Gambit. And if in terms of staging the battle between the brothers and Deadpool at the top of the cooling tower was very provocative, then the special effects accompanying the fight simply hurt the eyes. And returning to the graphics, I would like to say that in the course of watching the film I had to make sure that I was watching the normal version, and not that leaked imperfection. In places the graphics and effects were so terrible for 2009 that a little more and I would have considered all this a stylistic perversion, but no, the authors were furiously serious. His Wade Wilson is the real success of the film, if not his heart, then his courage for sure.
