Biography

"On September 28 at 17.30, on the eve of the new concert season, the press center of SPB.AIF.RU was visited by the leader of the Russian rock band Splin, Alexander Vasiliev, who was working on...

Great-grandfather Yakov was born in the village of Beklemishevo, Chita Region (now the Trans-Baikal Territory), Yakov’s son, Alexander’s grandfather, Vladimir, was also born in this village, was dispossessed and shot in 1938 in the area of Chernovskie Mines ( Chita region). In Beklemishevo, my great-grandfather built a house in which, according to rumors, given time placed kindergarten. He was rehabilitated in 1958. Alexander's father was born in Chernovsky Mines (where the family moved during dispossession) in 2012.

He spent the first five years of his childhood in the city of Freetown (Sierra Leone), where his father (an engineer by profession) worked on the construction of the port, and his mother taught Russian language and literature at a school at the Soviet embassy.

In 1974, all Soviet citizens were evacuated from the country back to the USSR. The Vasiliev family moved to the Lithuanian city of Zarasai, and in 1976 returned to Leningrad.

Since childhood, Sasha has been interested in music, and a desire to write arises in him. In 1980, my sister gave Vasiliev a reel, where on one side was " Time Machine", and on the other - the group" Resurrection". At the age of 12, he gets to the first concert in his life - Time Machine, which impresses him very much - he decides to give himself completely to rock music. In the seventh grade, the straight A student Vasilyev abandons his studies, as the guitar comes into his life2012.

In 1986, Alexander entered the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation, where he met his future wife Alexandra and Alexander Morozov (Morris). The Mitra group appears, in which, among others, Oleg Kuvaev (the future creator of Masyanya) participated. In 1988, the group tries to join the Leningrad rock club, but does not pass the selection (the group is not let in by anyone, but Anatoly Gunitsky from the Aquarium group).

Alexander goes to the army for two years, where he writes songs that will later be included in the album Dusty Byl. In 1990, Alexander returned from the army and Oleg Kuvaev arranged for him to be a fitter at the Comedy Theater in 2012.

In 1992, Alexander enters Faculty of Economics Theater Institute. Soon he gets a job at the Buff Theater, where Alexander Morozov worked as a sound engineer. Morozov (Morris) introduces Vasiliev to Nikolai Rostovsky, and they begin work on the first album. In May 1994 the album was ready.

On May 27, on the day of the 291st anniversary of St. Petersburg, a party was held dedicated to the end of the recording of the first album, at which the musicians met Stas Berezovsky. This day is official day the birth of the Splin group in 2012.

"Spleen" (from the English spleen - "spleen") - Russian rock band. The permanent leader is Alexander Vasiliev. The date of birth of the group is May 27, 1994.
In May 1994, in the sound studio of the St. Petersburg theater "Buff", where Alexander Vasiliev and Alexander Morozov worked at that time, the first album was recorded - "Dusty Reality", one of the songs of which, "On the Mute" (a poem by Sasha Cherny), gave group name:
Like a moth, I'm eaten by spleen ...
Sprinkle me with mothballs
Fold in a chest and put me in the attic
Until spring comes.
The album turned out to be popular and sold throughout St. Petersburg with a circulation of about 10 thousand audio cassettes. It has subsequently been re-released twice on CD by various labels. The group quickly became popular, various radio stations began to broadcast its songs, and in 1997 the group was offered to perform at the second Maxidrom rock festival. At the same time, the first concert was played at the Yubileiny Sports Palace (St. Petersburg), recognized by all as a failure. However next concert, played in Luzhniki, became a real sensation.
The newly created label "ORT Records" signed a contract with promising group for the publication of the fourth album, released in 1998 under the title " pomegranate album". He made the group truly famous. In June of the same year, Spleen performed as the opening act for The Rolling Stones". New members came to the group - Yanik Nikolenko and Sergey Navetny, and Alexander Ponomarev became the producer of Spleen.

The lead singer and leader of the group continued to experiment with style, sound and lyrics. The result of these experiments was the album "Altavista", which includes some of the most unexpected, narcotic and experimental spirit of Vasiliev's songs. After some lull on March 21, 2001, the album "25 frame" was released, after which the group, together with "Bi-2" and "Tomas", organized a joint tour "Fellini", which took place in several cities of Russia and abroad.

In 2002, the double disc "Acoustics" was released - a recording of an acoustic concert played at the Stanislavsky Theater.

After the release of the first single "Handball" (which, in addition to the song of the same name, included the song "North-West", the video clip "Plastic Life" and the flash-video "spLean feat. Masyanya", drawn by Oleg Kuvaev) and the album "New People" unexpectedly for fans, Alexander Vasiliev's solo album "Drafts" is released, in which songs written by Alexander in the period from 1988 to 2003 were collected. There were rumors that the group was breaking up, but Vasiliev himself denied them.

On May 18, 2004, the second single "Romance" was released. It presented three versions of the title song, as well as the instrumental composition "Steps". In addition, "Romance" was released in a new format - on a three-inch CD.

On November 17, 2004, the album "Reverse Chronicle of Events" was released, where in addition to hits ("We sat and smoked", "Geography Lesson" and "Romance") there were unexpected experimental instrumental tracks, hard rock ballads and soft guitar compositions. A few months after recording the album, drummer Sergei Navetny left the band. Alexey Meshcheryakov was accepted in his place.

On October 17, 2005, the group started recording the next, ninth, album. His recording was interrupted by touring North America- San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Boston. On April 2, 2006, the band took part in the FUZZ rock magazine awards festival. The festival was held at the large arena of the St. Petersburg Yubileiny Sports Palace. To the surprise of the public and music critics, the group played only 4 songs, and absolutely new and unfamiliar to most viewers. The band's guitarist Stas Berezovsky was absent from the performance. Instead, two musicians performed - former guitarist group "Oedipus Complex" ( former group flutist Yana Nikolenko) Vladimir Kolyada and Innokenty Agafonov, "comrade of the past" Alexei Meshcheryakov. Rumors about the breakup of the group began to circulate again. An indirect confirmation of this was the group's performance at the Moscow club "Tochka", which featured two new guitarists (Vladimir Kolyada and Innokenty Agafonov). To the question "Where is Berezovsky?" Vasiliev initially laughed it off: "In London." And then he said that the permanent guitarist "Spleen" "went into free swimming." Later, a message appeared on the official website about the departure of flutist Yan Nikolenko and one of the two new guitarists, Vladimir Kolyada, from the group. Other than the posting on the website, no comments were received from the group. Despite the drastic line-up changes, the band continued to record new album. In June 2006, the second new guitarist, Innokenty Agafonov, left the band. Alexander Vasiliev still did not comment on anything. At the festival "Invasion" the group played four.

On January 5, 2007, the band announced a lineup change on their official website. A new bassist Dmitry Kunin, who previously played in the same band with drummer Alexei Meshcheryakov, came to the group. Due to the line-up change, Vadim Sergeev returned to playing the electric guitar.

The current line-up of the group:
Alexander Vasiliev - vocals, guitar;
Alexey Meshcheryakov - drums;
Vadim Sergeev - electric guitar;
Nikolai Rostovsky - keyboards;
Dmitry Kunin - bass guitar.

Despite the fact that the album has enough big number songs - there are 17 of them, during the studio sessions there were at least 19 tracks recorded for this album. Two songs "3007" and "Ark" were not included in the disc. Since the fall of 2006, the song "Z007" has been played at almost every concert of the group, even "opened" some concerts, and was perceived by fans as one of the "center" songs of the future album. However, in a press release for the album published at the end of December 2006, Vasiliev stated that "'3007' sounds great live, but it loses a lot on recording, so we put it on hold for now." The song "Ark" does not get on the disc, as it is somewhat "raw" according to the musicians of the group themselves.

The song "The Ark" became available to a more or less wide audience only on January 6, 2008, when the program sounded on the waves of the radio station "Our Radio". At the same time, it was recorded in just 10 days, it took another 10 days to mix it. The record was recorded at the famous St. Petersburg studio "Dobrolet", where A. Alyakrinsky acted as a sound engineer. Initially, at the suggestion of the Aquarium band, the album was mixed in London at Livingston Studios. Why do people go into art at all? Because they want to run away real life. Because for some reason, she doesn't like them. That's all. And then they begin to draw, write music, write songs or do something else. (A.V.)

You always feel satisfaction about the fact that everything, the song is written, the song is finished. And at the same time devastation, which is also natural (A.V.)

Life is meaningless and merciless. Actually, therein lies its beauty. But this is the charm, and torment, and suffering, and everything else. But between them, between these two poles, in fact, there is our whole life, because we either rejoice, then we are upset, then we are glad, then we are angry, then we sleep, then we are awake. And so all my life - so constantly sausages us, we are always different, from pole to pole, now day, then night - such a class! (A.V.)

You need to have your own point of view on everything that happens around you. Indeed, everyone sees what is happening around, but only a small part of these people have their own judgments about what is happening around. And a very small part can also tell about it in a song and musical form. (A.V.)

A lot depends on the country, on the state. Which human qualities here will be welcomed and which ones will be condemned. So far, there is such a society here that there is no one to write or compose, - says Vasiliev. - And those who go to our concerts are grains, fragments. There are several groups that the same audience also goes to, an intelligent audience that was simply cut out by Lenin and Stalin. Today we have a camp country with main music chanson, with a speech interspersed with thieves and gangster slang. We play for fragments, and maybe the next shift will come out of these fragments directly. (A.V.)
