Activity progress:

Educator (V.). - Good morning Guys!

Let's greet each other with the help of an unusual game - we will hold hands, look at each other, smile at each other and with our whole face: with eyes, cheeks, lips, nose (facial expressions) we will show that we are good, joyful mood. And we will pass this mood on to our neighbor!

Game: “Take and pass” (Children stand in a circle, hold hands, look into each other's eyes and convey a joyful mood, a kind smile to each other in a circle with facial expressions).

IN.- Today in the garden, in our gallery with drawings, I met an unusual guest - a "magic" pencil. He was very sad. I asked him: “Why are you sad, little pencil?” He replied: “How can I not be sad, I used to live with an artist and drew a lot beautiful pictures, but then I got lost, and I was left all alone! I felt sorry for the pencil, and I invited him to stay with us. Do you guys mind?

Children. - Do not mind!

Knock on the door.

IN.- Oh, that's probably him!

The teacher "meets the guest" - brings a three-dimensional pencil layout into the group

Pencil (K.)- Hello guys! Thanks for letting me visit you! In gratitude for this, I want to tell and show you something interesting! I used to live with an artist and saw many beautiful paintings. By the way, do you know who these artists are?

Children's answers.

TO.- And how does the artist draw his paintings?

Children's answers.

TO.- And if two artists take the same canvas, the same paints and brushes and paint, will they get the same pictures?

Children's answers.

TO.- That's right, guys, the pictures will turn out to be completely different, even if the artists paint the same objects, the pictures will still differ from each other, because each person sees the world in his own way. And what can be painted in the pictures?

Children's answers.

TO. Yes, you can draw anything! And now I will show you a few pictures, and you think, what do these pictures have in common?

The teacher demonstrates reproductions of three portraits (male, female and child). During the demonstration, the Pencil and the children discuss who is depicted in the paintings. In the process of discussion, they come to the conclusion that people are depicted in all the pictures.

K.- That's right, guys, all three pictures show people. Such paintings are called portraits. The portrait can depict a person of any age, in any clothes, with or without objects.

The teacher demonstrates an excerpt from the video "If you see in the picture" (portrait)

TO.- And now let's look at the following pictures, and determine what is common between them?

The teacher demonstrates reproductions of three landscapes ( seascape, forest, meadow,). During the demonstration, the Pencil and the children discuss what is shown in the pictures. In the process of discussion, they come to the conclusion that nature is depicted in all the paintings.

TO.- That's right, guys, all three pictures depict nature. Such paintings are called landscapes. In the picture-landscape you can see a variety of corners of nature.

The teacher demonstrates an excerpt from the video "If you see in the picture" (landscape)

TO. Now let's play a guessing game. I show you pictures. If this is a portrait, then you should clap your hands loudly. If this is a landscape, then you raise your hands up and shake them. And if the picture is not a landscape or a portrait, then you will stomp your feet!

The teacher shows a selection of pictures for the game (9-10 pcs.)

IN.- Well done, you are very attentive! Look guys, Pencil brought us his favorite landscape. But it is not simple, but magical, because it is drawn without a brush! What do you think, how can you draw such a landscape?

Children options. If the children said the correct option, then the teacher praises them and proceeds to show the reception. If the children did not guess, then the teacher says the answer and shows the reception.

IN.- Guys, this magical landscape is drawn with paper. But not with a simple sheet, but with a crumpled lump, which was dipped in paint and printed on a sheet with a background.

The teacher on the easel shows the sequence of work.

TO.- I am a magic pencil! Now I will turn you into artists! (makes a wave of a magic brush, a bell sounds) Now you, too, will draw such a magical landscape! I even prepared background sheets for you!

IN.- But before creating a magical landscape, we need to warm up and play. Ready?

Fizkultminutka " The artist is invisible

IN.- Now we're ready! Take your seats, start drawing!

The children are doing the work. The teacher helps.

IN.- Guys, you are real wizards! Look at the pictures you've made! I really forgot, but are we portraits or landscapes?

Children's answers.

IN.- Let's thank Pencil for telling and showing us so many interesting things. magical scenery we will post at our parenting show. Guys, what should we do with our guest, Pencil? He has absolutely nowhere to go... Can you think of something?

Children's answers. In the process of discussion, lead the children to leave the Pencil to live in a group.

V. - Well done guys, you did not leave a friend in trouble. The pencil will be fine with us, he will continue to teach us how to draw and tell us a lot of new things.

The pencil thanks the children.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a breathtaking landscape with fabulous islands, an old ship and a surreal moon on background. You'll learn how to combine multiple images, how to apply filters to create a twilight scene, and the basics of matte paint.

Source materials:

Step 1

Let's get started! Create a new 1920x1080 document.

Step 2

Open the Mountain Landscape stock image. Move given image to our working paper:

Step 3

To the layer with mountain landscape add a new adjustment layer Brightness / Contrast(Brightness/Contrast). Let's go Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Brightness / Contrast(Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast).

Step 4

Go to the layer mask of the adjustment layer Brightness / Contrast(Brightness/Contrast) and using a soft black brush (brush size about 200px), hide the correction, which is highlighted in red in the screenshot below:

Step 5

Next, open the Sky stock image. Move this image to our working paper. Apply the transformation according to the dimensions of the document. Change the blending mode of the sky layer to Multiplication(Multiply).

Step 6

Add a layer mask to the sky layer. Using a large soft brush (about 300px or larger), hide the image in the tree area at the bottom of the document. You can see the result of processing on the layer mask in the screenshot below.

Translator's note: the author placed the sky layer on top of the mountain landscape layer, therefore, using a layer mask, hides the excess part of the image. The brush color is black.

Step 7

Open the Stars stock image. Move this image to our working paper. Next, add a layer mask to the stars layer. With a large soft brush, go over the outline of the mountains.

Step 8

Change the blending mode for the stars layer to Lightening(screen).

Step 9

It's time to add the image of the moon to our working paper. Position the image of the moon as shown in the screenshot below. Change the blending mode of the moon layer to Lightening(screen).

Step 10

As you can see, the image of the moon is too large, and the color of the moon does not match the surrounding landscape. We must fix this. First, add a layer mask to the moon layer. Next, use a soft round brush (100-200px) to hide the lower part of the moon image.

Step 11

Step 12

The image of the moon should be brighter. Hold down the key (ctrl) + select the moon layer and adjustment layer Hue / Saturation(Hue/Saturation). Duplicate selected layers.

Step 13

Add a new layer. Choose a tool Gradient(Gradient), gradient color from #362f2d to transparent. While on a new layer, drag out the gradient as shown in the screenshot below, note the red arrow as a guide.

Step 14

Change the blending mode of the gradient layer to overlap(overlay).

Step 15

Create a new layer. Choose a soft round brush (size 370px), brush color #6dcff6, brush opacity 70%. Carefully draw a glow around and next to the image of the moon. I also added some brush strokes around the edges of the mountains.

Step 16

Change the blending mode of the glow layer to Soft light(soft light).

Step 17

Next, you will learn about matte paint technique. Create a new layer. Choose a soft round brush, brush size 40px, brush color #929397. Paint over the edges of the mountains/vegetation with the brush. This is very important step! It will look like fog, and will give the picture a mystical atmosphere!

Step 18

Change the blend mode to Soft light(Soft light) and it will be great!

Step 19

Duplicate the fog layer.

Step 20

Create a new layer. Set the brush size to 100px, the brush color is the same. Paint with a brush in the lowlands of the mountain landscape.

Step 21

Change the blend mode to Multiplication(Multiply (Surprise! :])

Step 22

Step 23

Step 24* - selective

Great! Now, select all layers and copy the merged data. Let's go Editing - Copy Combined Data(Edit - Copy merged) and then paste on a new layer.

Translator's note: this step is optional. In this step, the author creates a merged layer and applies filters to the merged layer. To create a merged layer, while on the topmost layer, press the keys (ctrl+ alt+ Shift+ E).

Change the blending mode for this layer to Base lightening(Color Dodge), layer opacity 75%.

Step 25 - First Island

Create a new folder (if you want). Create a new layer. Choose a hard brush, brush size 42 px, brush color black. Using the brush, draw an island with a rock outline at the bottom of the island. You can draw the shape of the island at your discretion. Experiment with the island!

Translator's note: it would be better if you create new group, thus, it will be easier for you to navigate in the layers palette. Create a new group. Name the new group ‘Island’. Inside the group, create a new layer on which draw the island.

Step 26

Add a layer mask to the layer with the drawn island. Using a soft black brush, paint over the top of the island. I've also hidden the areas that are too prominent at the bottom of the island.

Step 27

Open the rock stock image. Move this image to our working paper. Apply a transformation to the rock layer as shown in the screenshot below. Convert the rock layer to clipping mask to the island layer.

Step 28

The image of the rock is too saturated. You must fix this. Add a New Adjustment Layer Hue / Saturation(Hue saturation) as clipping mask. Lower the saturation value to -47.

Translator's note: the author adds an adjustment layer to the rock texture layer.

Step 29

In addition, the image of the rock is too bright. Add a New Adjustment Layer Brightness / Contrast(Brightness/contrast) as clipping mask.

Step 30

Step 31

Lower the layer's opacity to 18%.

Step 32

Create a new layer as clipping mask. You must draw shadows on the island. Using the same brush, but this time set the brush color to dark gray (#131312). Draw shadows on the left side of the island.

Step 33

Change the blending mode of the shadow layer to Multiplication(Multiply), layer opacity 50%.

Step 34

Create a new layer as clipping mask. Using the same brush, paint more intense shadows. It is very important!

Step 35

Add a layer mask to the shadow layer. Soften too hard shadows using a large soft brush (370px).

Step 36

Great job! Now you have to change the blending mode for this shadow layer to Multiplication

Step 37

Add an adjustment layer to the island layer. Color Balance(color/balance) as clipping mask. Set the following settings:

Step 38

Step 39

Add a layer mask to the bell tower layer. Hide the extra sections of the bell tower.

Step 40

Add an adjustment layer to the bell tower layer. Hue / Saturation

Step 41

Step 42

We need to add brightness to the image of the bell tower. Add a New Adjustment Layer Brightness / Contrast(brightness/contrast) as clipping mask.

Step 43

Brightness / Contrast(brightness/contrast). Consider the location of the light source.

Step 44

Open the stock image ‘Unusual tree’. Move this image to our working paper:

Step 45

Use a layer mask to hide the parts of the tree that are highlighted in red in the screenshot below:

Step 46

Hue / Saturation(Hue/Saturation) as clipping mask. Set the following settings:

Step 47

Create a new layer as a clipping mask to the tree layer. Choose a soft round brush, brush size 100 px, brush color #1e373b. Carefully draw shadows on the tree.

Step 48

Change the blend mode to Multiplication(Multiply), layer opacity 80%.

Step 49

Add an adjustment layer to the tree layer. Color Balance

Step 50

Some areas of the tree are too light, so you need to fix that with a mask.

Translator's note: try either hiding the adjustment on the layer mask of the adjustment layer Hue / Saturation(Hue/ Saturation), or create a new layer as a clipping mask and use a dark brush to paint over the area that is highlighted in red, and then play with the blending modes.

Step 51

Step 52

Color Balance(color balance).

Step 53

Change the blend mode to Lightening(Screen), layer opacity 67%.

Step 54

Step 55

Create a new layer (no need to convert to clipping mask) Select the splatter brush, brush size 59 px, brush color #baf3f0 color. Paint over the edge of the trees with the brush.

Step 56

Create a new layer, choose a soft brush, brush size 1 px, same color. Paint over the outline of the rock, bell tower, trees.

Step 57 - Second Island

When creating the second island, I used the same technique. You can repeat everything from Step 25. You can show only one island, or add as many islands as you like! Start creating the second island with black base. brown shade used to create depth of field.

Step 58

Open the rock stock again. This time, select a different part of the rock image so that the rock texture pattern doesn't repeat itself. Move this rock image, converting it to clipping mask to the layer with the second island.

Step 59

Reduce the saturation of the rock texture with an adjustment layer Hue / Saturation(Hue/Saturation).

Step 60

Using a soft brush, paint some shadows (change the blending mode of the shadow layer to Multiplication(Multiply) and highlights (leave the blending mode for this layer Normal(normal).

Step 61

Once again paint shadows and highlights, just select a smaller brush.

Step 62

Step 63

To change the color, add an adjustment layer Color Balance(Color balance) as clipping mask.

Step 64

Create a new layer as clipping mask to the second island layer. With a soft black brush, brush size (300px), paint over the shadows in the upper part of the island. These will be the shadows from the tree.

Step 65

Add a stock image ‘Unusual Tree’.

Step 66

Use a layer mask to hide the extra parts of the tree.

Step 67

Add an Adjustment Layer Color Balance(Color balance) as clipping mask. Set the following settings:

Step 68

Step 69

Create a new layer as clipping mask to the second island layer. Use a soft brush with color #4081b7 to paint shadows on the tree. Change the blending mode for this layer to Multiplication(Multiply).

Step 70

Using the same brush, paint highlights on the tree. Lower the layer's opacity to 26%. (don't forget to create a new layer as clipping mask).

Step 71

Create a new layer as clipping mask. Select the splatter brush, brush size 59 px, brush color #baf3f0. Paint over the edges of the trees. Next, change the blending mode for this layer to Soft light(Soft light).

Step 72

Step 73 - Draw Hanging Plants

Create a new folder. With a 1px soft brush, color #4c7373, paint a long liana over the drawn light outline that was drawn as a guide.

Step 74

Using the same brush, paint dangling vines. The red arrows will serve as a guide

Step 75

Do the same with the second vine.

Step 76

Using the same technique, draw hanging vines at the lowest point.

Step 77 Ship

Add a picture of a ship to our scene.

Step 78

Add an adjustment layer to the ship layer. Hue / Saturation

Step 79

Add an Adjustment Layer Color Balance(Color balance) as clipping mask. Set the settings shown in the screenshot below. Change the blend mode to Lightening(Screen) -to make it feel like the light is bouncing off the moon!

Step 80

Use a mask.

Translator's note: hide the adjustment on the layer mask of the adjustment layer Color Balance(colorbalance) except for contours.

Step 81

Use a mask. Now the effect looks like shadows.

Translator's note: hide the adjustment on the layer mask of the adjustment layer Brightness / Contrast(brightness/ contrast), thus, the author creates shadows on the bow of the ship.

Step 83

Brightness / Contrast(brightness/contrast) as clipping mask. Set the following settings:

Step 84

Add another adjustment layer Color Balance(Color balance) as clipping mask. Set the settings shown in the screenshot below.

Step 85

Create a new layer. Choose a soft brush, brush size 1px, brush color light blue. Carefully paint over the outlines of the ship and the ropes.

Step 86 - Foreground Foliage

Add foliage to the front, placing it in the upper left corner of the picture.

Step 87

Step 88

Add an adjustment layer to the foliage layer. Hue / Saturation(Hue/Saturation) as a clipping mask to de-saturate the ship. Set the following settings:

Step 89

Now, hold down the key (ctrl) + select the foliage layer, as well as the adjustment layer Hue / Saturation(Hue/Saturation), next, duplicate the selected layers.

Step 90

Step 91

Wow! You are doing great! Add a new layer. Using a soft round brush, brush size 300 px, brush color #6dcff6, paint over the scene as shown in the screenshot below. This will be the glow.

Step 92

Step 93

Change the blending mode for the glow effect layer to Soft light(Soft light), layer opacity 41%.

Step 94

Create a new layer. Choose soft white brush, brush size 800px. Click the brush on the image of the moon. Next, change the blending mode for this layer to Soft light(Soft light).

Step 95 - Final Color Correction

It's time for color correction. Now the colors of the picture are unsaturated and too light. Let's fix this! Add an Adjustment Layer Brightness / Contrast(brightness/contrast). Lower the layer's opacity to 70%.

Translator's note: I'm doing the final color correction, so the adjustment layers will NOT be used as clipping masks.

Step 96

Step 97

Add another adjustment layer Brightness / Contrast(brightness/contrast). It's necessary.

Step 98

Step 99

This final step! Add an Adjustment Layer Color Balance(color/balance) to create a truly magical look!

Congratulations, we have completed the lesson!
