Unfortunately, this law is not always observed. Monuments, historical sites and protected areas are mercilessly destroyed, and those responsible, as a rule, are not punished. According to experts, every year the country loses up to 200 historical and cultural monuments, and some cultural objects of the past have already been lost forever.
In Europe, history is treated much more carefully, European countries save even historical landscapes and landscapes of the area. For example, in France, restoration work is being carried out on the landscapes of memorable places even after archaeological sites. In the north of England, Hadrian's Wall, built under the Roman emperor Hadrian to protect the northern borders of the empire and stretching for 117 kilometers, has been preserved almost intact.
And today's holiday is an occasion to once again draw the attention of the general public and government officials to the protection and preservation of various local monuments and historical sites and world cultural heritage sites. Therefore, on this day, as part of the celebration, various conferences are held on the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, as well as a number of other events. So, for example, some museums and exhibition halls on this day (as well as on International Museum Day) can be entered for free. Visitors can also visit architectural complexes and historical buildings which are closed to the public on regular days.
