How to name a rock band. Rock school: name for a rock band

25.02.2019

Australian name legendary rock band was inspired by two heavily compatible subjects: the English band XTC and the local jam maker!

“I saw a TV commercial for a jam called IXL,” recalls manager Gary Morris. - And in that ad, the guy said: “I do everything cool” (“I excel in all I do”). And then there were the impressions from the concerts of the XTC group, which did a tour of Australia - their name was pronounced like "ecstasy" and therefore I really liked it. In general, I put all these components together. The goal was to make a name consisting of pure letters, but to be read as a meaningful word. After summing up IXL and XTC, we got this very INXS (“In excess”).

Let's go back to Australia. According to legend, AC/DC is slang for "bisexuality". In reality, the group refutes this interpretation and officially adheres to the tale of how the sister of the Young family, Margaret, spotted these letters on an electric sewing machine that could work on both direct and alternating current. The name immediately charged the group with the right energy and was approved unanimously.

The Prodigy

For connoisseurs of the club and electronic spheres, the name is not a mystery: Liam simply remembered the name of his first synthesizer - Moog Prodigy.

Kasabian

Kasabian is the surname of Linda Kasabian, one of the members of the Charles Manson crime family who was Manson's driver.

Aquarium

Over the years, the band's name has acquired legends and hidden meanings, however, in their early interviews BG and his companions openly admitted the following: “We were driving somewhere in Kupchyna. We passed such a two-story "glass". It was called Aquarium. And someone said that here - "Aquarium". And we decided yes. [It's] Somewhere on Sofiyskaya or Budapestskaya... Now there's a kebab place."

Linkin Park

In fact, Lincoln Park is encrypted under this name, by which the band members constantly traveled on the way to the studio. However, the word Lincoln was changed to Linkin purely so that you could stake out for yourself Domain name in the Internet.

The Russians are extremely worried about the name of this British trip-hop group. There is an exact answer that the participants peeped the word "milk" in the book " Clockwork orange". The trick is that they did not even guess that the word was of Russian origin: in the text of "Orange" many slang terms have Russian roots, but this was not explained to English readers. Therefore, the Moloko vocalist in one of her early interviews naively boasted that after a long search she found the source of the word “milk” in some Greek dictionaries.

The Residents

The American avant-garde group could not decide on a name for a long time, but in the meantime they sent their records to labels. As a result, one of the films returned to them marked "To: The Residents" (that is, "To: residents"). The musicians decided that this was a sign from above.

The cult Boston indie-rock band chose the name using a scientific poke method, opening a dictionary and pointing a finger at the first word that came across. So they turned up "pixies", that is, "fakes". Moreover, the deciphering of the term “naughty little elves” made a special impression on the musicians.

Led Zeppelin

Origin of the great name Led Zeppelin is clearly documented and originates in a hilarious drunken discussion between Jimmy Page and a drummer and bassist from The Who who assured that Page's project was doomed and would collapse like a lead balloon. After several manipulations with words and grammar, the ball turned into an airship. Figuratively speaking, Led Zeppelin is the same as "plywood over Paris".

Duran Duran

Dr. Duran-Duran is a character in the cult erotic-fiction film "Barbarella" with leading role. Fans of the group often joke: they say, thank God that they used the name Duran-Duran, and not Dildano ... Yes, there was such a character in Barbarella!

fall out Boy

In order to at least somehow name themselves for the first concert, the group took the name Fall Out Boy from one of the characters in the Simpsons series. For the second concert, more interesting names were already invented, but someone from the audience began to shout: “Well, no! You are the Fall Out Boy!” It was useless to argue.

green day

"Green Day" originated in Billie Joe Armstrong's brain when he did nothing but smoke marijuana all day long. As a result, he wrote a song about it, but it seemed to him that this was not enough, and he assigned the group a new (strange and not the most harmonious, what can I say) name.

The Velvet Underground

The band members borrowed the Velvet Underground's picturesque yet menacing line from the cover of a sadomasochka book one of them had picked up on a New York sidewalk.

Therapy?

It's funny the appearance of not even the word "therapy" itself (what's so surprising?), But a question mark after it. At the dawn of his career, the vocalist sent out cassettes with demo recordings to record labels, personally writing out the name of the group. But in the end I did it unevenly, the name went to the left, but I wanted it beautifully, in the center. So he added another symbol for symmetry. This seems to be the wildest story in the entire article.

Bring Me The Horizon

The vocalist of the now popular metal band from Sheffield admitted that he stole the line for the title from the first film "Pirates caribbean". "Now...bring me that horizon," Johnny Depp's character says at the very end.

The word "a-ha" would sound great in some song, so one of the musicians entered it in a notebook as a keepsake. After some time, when the question arose about the name of the group, it surfaced from the notebook. The band members were hooked by two things: first, that the word is beautifully spelled and easy to pronounce. Second: in many languages of the world, this means approval or confirmation. That is, the usual "aha" in our Russian.

Butthole Surfers

The group acted as eccentric as ever and came up with a new name for each show! But at one of the concerts in 1984, the entertainer forgot how to introduce the group, and stupidly said the name of one of the songs - "Butthole Surfer". It so happened that the concert produced a fair amount of resonance, and the name had to be fixed.

Daft Punk

Future Members Daft Punk at first they were very kind to the work of The Beach Boys and in 1992 they made records under the name Darlin (that was the name of one of the songs Beach Boys). But in the music newspaper Melody Maker, their activities were doused with a fair amount of dirt, calling the music "a daft punky thrash." After reading this, the guys were very upset, but in the end they realized that they had to live with it somehow. And they made the curse the name of their new project. And by the way, we won!

Frankie Goes to Hollywood

The young group rehearsed in the room where they once were prison cell. There was a poster on the wall that said "Frankie Goes to Hollywood" from the time he moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. In general, as it is already clear, there were no big difficulties with finding a name for the group.

Five Finger Death Punch

The long and juicy name of a trendy Nevada metal band is overheard in the movie Kill Bill, where a special secret reception guaranteed certain death to the enemy from the movement of the fingers.

Ramones

Encyclopedias usually write that the band members adapted the surname Ramon only because that was the pseudonym of Paul McCartney when he fit into hotels. However, a number of interviews circulate in magazines and books, where the Ramones say that this name was taken for provocation and intimidation, because in New York in the 70s the townsfolk were very afraid of Latin American youth gangs.

Jethro Tull

The group on early stages there were great problems with concerts in London, and in order to be able to play several times in the same club, the musicians constantly changed the name. At one of these stages, the manager from the lantern issued " Jethro Tull"- the name of some agronomist of the XVIII century. The trouble is that it was under this name that the group received a residence permit in the club, the owner of which suddenly liked them.

Misfits

The name of the group copies the most last film Marilyn Monroe. And the logo with a skull migrated to the arsenal of the group from the 1946 film years Crimson Ghost.

Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor explains that he only chose the name because it's beautifully spelled NIN. And, they say, it does not carry the slightest literal meaning.

Boney M.

As you know, the first single Boney M. was recorded not by the group itself, but independently by producer Frank Farian. So he urgently needed to come up with a pseudonym. He described the brainstorming process as follows: “I turned on the TV somehow, and there ended the show of the detective series. I found only the final credits, where Boney was written. Great name, I thought. Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie... Bonnie M.! That sounds even better!”

Procol Harum

The word Procul Harun denoted a line of Siamese cats, one of which was owned by a friend of the group manager. The phrase, you see, is beautiful, perfect for the baptism of the group. True, the rule of a damaged phone intervened, and one letter in the word was still confused.

The word is derived from the original "Opet" that the band glimpsed in a novel by Wilbur Smith, which was the name of a fictional city in Africa.

At the start of a long journey to fame, money and fans, aspiring musicians are faced with the need to invent name for your group. Feeling like the parents of a newborn baby, they get together, scratch their heads, and put forward a variety of options. titles musical groups , one of which, perhaps, is destined to subsequently show off on album covers, T-shirts, fences and different parts bodies of devoted fans. In this article, we will try to make it easier to solve the problem of finding a suitable and original title rock bands.

How to come up with a name for a rock band? Where to begin?

First, you should realize that name for the group must meet certain requirements, and more specifically: have some meaning, albeit veiled, but which will be clear not only to you. In this regard, you should not call the band the name of the vocalist's favorite dog. rock band name, also, should be related to the style you want to try yourself. If you play brutal death metal, a name a la "Funny Tits" or "Donkey Litter" is unlikely to be appropriate. At the same time, such a plan of the name may be suitable for punk rock, which is not devoid of healthy humor. You should not go too far.

Too pretentious name of the group will rather cause a smile, and, besides, I don’t remember the world famous group: “Geniuses of Metal Chaos” or “Rock Stars”. In addition, you don’t need to call your rock band some long, hard-to-remember phrase, because group name is a brand that must be short and concise. You are going to, remember this. One, maximum two words group name, no more.

A few simple ways to choose a name for the group.

Summarizing the experience of successful rock bands of our time, the team has selected simple search options name of your rock band. So, the first method: not giving a damn about everything that is written above, open any dictionary, preferably not narrowly focused, and choose the first, second, third ... the word that comes across. The indisputable advantage of this method is that in the process of searching you will learn a lot new information. So, “from the ceiling”, they got their name completely notable bands: "Incubus" and "Evanescence".

Method two. Group name the name and surname of a character in one of the books you read can be used. Uriah Heep and Duran Duran followed this path.

Method three. Write down your favorite words on a piece of paper and choose one or two of them. That is how the famous today were born group names Korn and Limp Bizkit.

Also, you can use the geographical names of nearby objects. Soundgarden, Linkin Park, Alter Bridge became adherents of this option.

Look around, pay attention to a variety of inscriptions and names. For example, the description of the power of the sewing machine, as the musicians of the AC / DC group did.

Don't forget acronyms a word created from the first letters of a sentence or phrase - author.). Often, being an abbreviation, they can have their own meaning. A good example of this is the name bands KISS(Knights In Satan's Service). Similar variations can be easily found in Russian.

Take Your Choice Seriously band names. Do not forget that changing the name of an already more or less well-known musical group is a bad idea, which, at the very least, will lead to the fact that existing fans will not recognize you on posters.

Shouldn't be overdone titles popular rock bands . You won't see tens of thousands of fans at your gig just by calling yourself "Scorpions" or "System Of A Down". This statement can be partially challenged only if your band is a tribute project. In this case, you can partially use group name-original. An example of this approach is Beatallica, which, in its music, combines the work of Metallica and The Beatles.

Became a popular trend English group names. The choice is yours. If the lyrics of your songs are written, for example, in Russian, I personally do not see the point in the English title. If you are fully English-speaking, then the above recommendations regarding the choice band names are still applicable. By the way, words and phrases in the language of the Romans - Latin sound quite mysterious and original, why not try this option. Of course, in order to avoid embarrassment, it is necessary to know how group name translated into Russian.

If the style of music allows, use in group name humor. Such names are easier to remember and spread faster among listeners than, for example, the frankly gloomy "Knights of Ashes". Do not confuse humor with vulgarity. Remember, your brainchild, that is, the group, will live with this name.

Finally, I note that, despite the importance and responsibility of the name, it is not the name that makes a person beautiful, and not just the name itself, but the music and lyrics of the songs you wrote and played will bring you the recognition you deserve. , rehearse, and perform for the glory of rock and roll!

Hello guys and ladies, in other words, blog readers. Yesterday we talked about how, and in this article we’ll talk about the fact that it’s time to choose a name for a rock group that, although a beginner, constantly reads our rock school and takes the right steps towards success and a lot of busty fans.

So, you have already been able to play not only a couple, but also (bggg), but you shouldn’t stop there because you don’t have a name for your rock band yet, which is bad, because playing cool metal you can't do it without a name.

The first step is to say that the name should refer to the genre, a great example is the band Metallica, that is, we can see by the name that the group is already cool and play in a style, it’s easy to guess metal here. For example, the group SCANWORD, respectively, plays, ska, but the group Distemper the name sucks, because even though they play ska, their name for a rock band does not have such a prefix. However, the group, Distemper, at the dawn of its formation (the distant 90s, or even the 8th), realized well that the band should have a concise and memorable name, and not some 7th day cyclists. An excellent example can be given by such teams as Slot, Cockroaches!, naive, Movie, but the group “large numeral of millions of ourselves” will be poorly remembered, albeit bright. Also, an aspiring rock band chooses how much it will be treated with respect. Negative examples - Mamkin Utyuzhok and 1.5 kg of excellent mashed potatoes - although they are cool catchy names, but alas, they do not inspire respect. An excellent example of a group Laughter!(hero city of Istra). This group, which performs their compositions in the style of cool metal, hints that the content of their work will cause a smile, and the guys fully justify this name, by the way, this fucking four-chord group celebrated its 15th anniversary, and this is not easy for you. Here is another example of a successful name - a group Shadows of Freedom. This rock the collective, with its name, says that the music and lyrics of this group will be about freedom, and so far they confidently support this brand, and not just support it, but confidently for 10 years in a row.

These were all examples, but how do you choose a name? Think about what unites you all, perhaps a love of music, or you all read the same book by Carlos Castaneda or Vadim Zeland and decide to name yourself like “Spirit Ally” or “Window to Another Reality”, here your imagination is limitless. Also, the name for a rock band should suit you all, if someone does not like it - come up with a new one, because then you will sip more grief because of the wrong phrase or word, and your cool metal will fly into hell, we want to warn you as an up-and-coming rock band, that this approach would be wrong.

You can come up with a name in English, and even better, make your name sound equally cool in both English and Russian, if you also get German to boot. The whole point is that if (God forbid) you have shows in Europe, and also (God forbid) fans, then things will go much faster if you have a suitable name. An excellent example is the rock band Kerosin, which is undeservedly overlooked by many media, and listeners too, but in vain, the group is excellent. So, no matter how you read Kerosin, it will still be Kerosene, and this is the whole right choice titles, so whether you guys play reggae or punk rock, russian rock, or even industrial with a touch of porn metal, you have to choose the right name, a lot will depend on it. And so all the best to you, do not forget about our cool blog, come in, read, share your opinion, and most importantly - play and listen to good music.

Are you looking for an easy-to-remember name for your band? The band name can play a key role in your success or failure. Choice correct name is one of the highlights for your group. And one day, when you become famous, the process of choosing the name for your group may even become a legend. So don't be fooled!

Steps

Basic Rules for Choosing the Right Name for a Band

The title should quickly and easily show up in Internet search results. Nowadays, one of the selection criteria suitable name for the group is how easy it will be to find it on the Internet. When searching the Internet, common names like "Girls" can get lost in the sheer number of references to other things related to girls.

Avoid titles with hidden negative connotations. You need to feel how far you can go without damaging your group's reputation. Using the example of a band called "Viet Cong" you can get an idea of how a band name can be a problem in getting gig invitations.

    • Meaning should not condone bad behavior. One Scottish group called themselves "Dogs Die in Hot Cars", which literally translates from English as "dogs die in hot cars." This is not the best image for the group, although provocative.
    • In the name of the group, avoid speculation on tragedies or human suffering. If the name is obscene, some radio stations may have difficulty pronouncing it.
  1. Keep the title fresh. You should avoid names that were popular a long time ago and are clichéd today.

Present an image of your group. What is your group? What are you trying to convey to people? What is your group like? Who is your target audience? Understanding the nature of your group will help you choose a name.

    • The band name should match your brand and genre. If you're a country band, you probably don't want your name to sound too punk rock. You don't want people to get frustrated because your band's name is something that the band isn't.
    • If you understand who your target audience is, then you can choose a title that appeals to your listeners. The popular group "Green Day" in choosing the name was guided by this principle. "Green Day" (literally from English "green day") refers to smoking marijuana, and the group appealed through slang to a specific audience, consisting of young rebels.

    Name choice

    1. Look for inspiration in pop culture or literature. This theme is durable. famous example is the group "Veruca Salt" ("Veruca Salt"), whose name was borrowed from the book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

      • Mikey Way worked at Barnes and Noble and saw Irving Welsh's book Three Tales of Chemical Romance (the English title of the book is Three Tales of Chemical Romance), which prompted him to name the band My Chemical Romance. The source of the name of the group "Good Charlotte" is also literature. The name of the group "Avenged Sevenfold" (literally from English "seven times avenged") was taken by Matthew Sanders from the Book of Genesis (the first book of the Pentateuch, the Old Testament and the entire Bible).
      • Once upon a time there was even a group called "Natalie Portman's Shaved Head" (literally from English "Natalie Portman's shaved head"). Not surprisingly, the musicians eventually had to change their name. Naming a band after a celebrity is not a good idea. And linking the name to some old case is even worse.
      • Use lyrics. For example, the Panic! At The Disco was inspired by the song "Panic" by Name Taken, while "All Time Low" took its name from the song "Head On Collision" by New Found Glory.
    2. Draw inspiration from simple things and products. Flowers. Food. Sewing machines. Well, you understand. Take a look around. You will find a huge number of things with interesting names.

      • Malcolm and Angus Young of AC/DC came up with a name for the band on a sewing machine. AC/DC (an acronym for "Alternating Current/Direct Current") was printed on the back. They decided to use it.
      • Product names can also work great for this. Remember " Black-eyed Peas» (asparagus beans) or « red hot Chili Peppers" (red hot chili peppers).
    3. Pick a random title. There are various methods on how you can choose a random name. Sometimes groups choose a random word from a dictionary. So did REM, The Pixies, Incubus, The Grateful Dead, Evanescence, and Outkast. "Apoptygma Berzerk" followed the same path, using two randomly found words.

Use your first name or initials. It's always a good option, especially if you have a lead singer in your band. For example, the band name "Dave Matthews Band" is based on the band member's name. And it works.

      • However, this method of choosing a group name involves some risks. If your band changes soloist, it will be difficult for you to continue performing under the same name. And Van Halen is an example of that. Another problem with this method is that some members of the group may feel left out.
      • If you choose your own as the name for the group given name, you may need to add to it to make it sound more interesting. Or you can just use your last name.
    4. Come up with a new word. You can make a new word out of several others. Perhaps this new word or phrase will have some special meaning for you.

The music business is a special industry. Someone has earned millions on a single song, and someone has released several discs, but did not earn a penny. And it's not always about luck. Talent and skillful communication with fans make an important contribution to success. The choice of the name for the group also plays an important role, because everyone knows that "what do you call the boat ..." Let's see where the names of the groups come from, which have long and deservedly won the love of millions of fans.

Rolling Stones

The British blues-rock band has been criticized more than once at the international level. Founded in 1962, it still continues to delight its fans, although three of its four members have already exchanged eighties.

The name for the group appeared quite spontaneously. While talking on the phone, original guitarist Brian Jones saw a Muddy Waters CD on the floor and the title of the song "Rollin' Stone" caught his eye. The name stuck, but later changed a little, taking the form that is now known to all of us.

Motley Crue

Members of this American group in the style of glam metal have repeatedly been at odds with the law. Multiple arrests, drug and drug problems, numerous love affairs- the list of their "merits" is very wide. Despite this, the band has kept the spirit of glam metal alive since 1981, and is one of the best-selling bands in the world.

When the members were trying to come up with a name for the band to reflect their hedonistic style, guitarist Mick Mars recalled an incident during his time with White Horse. One member of the group called them "a motley looking crew". The musicians liked the idea and settled on the name Mottley Cru, adding umlauts in honor of the German beer Lowenbrau, which they then preferred.

System of a Down

Founded in 1994 by four Americans Armenian origin, "System of a Down" has made a major contribution to alternative metal and progressive rock music. The band gained worldwide fame thanks to the extraordinary vocalist Serj Tankian and his unique performance in live performances.

The band took their name from the poem "Victims of a Down" written by guitarist Daron Malakian, but on the advice of bassist Shavo Odadjian, the word "victims" was replaced with a softer "system" to appeal to a wider audience and to be closer to their music on store shelves. idol thrash metal band Slayer.

KoYan

For this nu-rock band, winning a Grammy and two MTV Video Music awards is a common occurrence. Associated with creepy clips and vulgar lyrics, she still manages to surprise her fans.

The word "corn" surfaced as one of the options for a name for the new band, but was not enthusiastically received. However, James Shaffer liked it, and he wrote it the way a small child would: replacing the “C” with a “K” and putting the capital R back to front. The name remained in this form, and Jonathan Davis drew the logo. Drummer David Silveria once said, “Music makes a name. Our name is simple, but as we gained popularity, it became cool."

green day

Punk rock band Green Day were not always as popular as they are now, although their 1994 album Dookie was a resounding success. Surprisingly, vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt have been in the band since 1986. After the stabilization associated with the emergence of Tre Cool in 1990, the group fought desperately for their path to glory. And today they have become one of the most loved musical artists in the world.

At first, the group was called "Sweet Children" and was engaged in occasional performances in front of a small audience. While burning a disc in Lookout! Records, the band had to change their name to avoid confusion with the local band Sweet Baby. Coming up with a new name, Armstrong remembered when he first tried drugs and wrote the song "Green Day" (slang for marijuana), and decided to give this name to the group.

Pink Floyd

Already in the year of creation, it became clear that the group " Pink Floyd» waiting great glory, and they confirmed this for the next 29 years until their breakup. Their fifteen albums have made a legendary contribution to progressive rock music.
The band was originally called "Tea Set", but they decided they needed a new name when they found themselves on a poster next to another band with the same name. Vocalist/songwriter Syd Barret proposed "The Pink Floyd Sound" in honor of blues musicians Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. The word "sound" soon dropped out, and the band began to cover themselves with the name "The Pink Floyd" - or sometimes just "Pink Floyd".

AC/DC

Formed in 1973 by the Young brothers, this band has undoubtedly become one of the most recognizable and significant bands in the history of hard rock. For more than forty years, the brothers still continue to play rock, having sold more than 200 million albums during this time.

When their sister Margaret Young saw the symbols "AC/DC" for alternating current and direct current on a sewing machine, the brothers thought it was the perfect name for the band, as it perfectly reflected their energetic performance. The name was left, only replacing the slash with a lightning bolt on the official logo.

Megadeth

There was a time in America when thrash metal was not very popular. Everything changed when Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson changed several lead guitarists and drummers to form Megadeth.

After breaking up with Metallica, Mustaine rode the bus home and wrote the lyrics in reverse side leaflet that read "The arsenal of megadeath can't be rid no matter what the peace treaties come to". Mustaine gave the name "Megadeath" to his own group, but soon removed one letter "a" from it when he learned that Pink Floyd had already tried to perform under that name.

Limp Bizkit

The American nu metal band Limp Bizkit is one of the most controversial members of the music industry. Despite intense criticism, they have sold over 40 million albums worldwide. However, their current level of success is only a shadow of their former glory.

When it came to choosing a name for the band, Fred Durst came up with the idea for a crazy name: “To turn people away. A lot of people will pick up a CD and think, "Limp Bizkit must be some kind of crap." These are the people who should not listen to us.” Durst took the idea very seriously, and suggested other equally ridiculous names: "Split Dickslit", "Gimp Disco", "Bitch Piglet".

Nirvana

Having existed for only six years and releasing three albums, Nirvana nevertheless became the greatest band grunge rock style. With their wry guitars, deafening drums and grunting vocals, many critics thought the band was doomed, but they proved otherwise by selling 75 million albums and even being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its first year of inception.

Initial candidates for the name included "Ted Ed Fred" and "Pen Cap Chew". So things could have turned out differently, but lead guitarist and vocalist Kurt Cobain settled on the name "Nirvana" because he "wanted a name that was sweet and gentle, as opposed to a rough collective-farm punk name like Angry Samoans."

KISS

This is perhaps one of the most unique rock bands in all of history. Each of its participants is a significant person in itself, which greatly contributed to attracting an audience. Their incendiary theatrical performances have become one of the important components of the group's success.

When the as-yet-unnamed band was just another band about to become famous, guitarist Paul Stanley recalled that he used to play in the band LIPS () and said: “How about Kiss? (kiss)". I liked the name because it sounded sexy and dangerous at the same time. Often the name is written capital letters, in connection with which there are sometimes hints that it stands for "Knights in Satan's Service" (knights in the service of Satan), but members of the group have always denied this.

Nickelback

The importance of Nickelback can be demonstrated by the fact that they are the second most popular foreign act in the US in the 2000s, behind only the Beatles.

The brother of lead vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroeger worked at Starbucks, which sold coffee for 1.95. Being regular customer, Krueger would often buy coffee there, giving $2, and each time getting 5 cents change (a coin called nickel). It stuck in his memory so much that he gave the band the name "Nickelback".

Linkin Park

The group, created in 1996, has not missed a single step on the path to excellence. British magazine Kerrang! called them "The Most Significant Rock Band in the World Right Now". The group released 6 albums and many times took first place in the charts.

When lead vocalist Chester Bennington drove past Lincoln Park after a rehearsal, he thought it was suitable name for the group. But the copyright for the lincolnpark.com domain was very expensive. After much deliberation, the band changed the spelling of "Lincoln" to "Linkin" and the name remained.

Guns N' Roses

Drugs, alcohol, irrepressible romantic adventures were part of the life of musicians and influenced their style. Despite the reputation of "the most dangerous band in the world", the albums sold successfully, and the performance surpassed all contemporaries.

When Hollywood Rose members Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin decided to team up with L.A. Guns" by Tracey Guns, Ole Bache and Rob Gardner, the name "Guns N' Roses" came from the addition of the names of the two bands. However, members of L.A. Guns left the group after a furious argument, and other artists took their place.

Led Zeppelin

If there is a group that defines the very essence of the art of rock and roll, it is undoubtedly Led Zeppelin. Thanks to the revolution they made in the genre of blues rock and hard rock, the group retains its status as one of the best even 30 years after the breakup.

At a time when Jimmy Page and guitarist buddy Jeff Beck were considering forming their own band, The Who members Keith Moon and John Entwistle joked that the newly formed band would "take off like a lead balloon." When Page nevertheless created new group, he remembered the joke, but changed "balloon" to "zeppelin", and changed the spelling of "lead" to avoid double pronunciation.
