It is worth noting that each melodic loop or sample is registered in seven pitch variants, in accordance with the steps in the key. This is an important point, since most music programs to change the pitch and tone of loops, various options for changing the pitch (pitch shifting) are used, which negatively affects the sound quality. Music Maker also allows you to record your own sound fragments.

The main window of the program is a combination of the following workspaces: arrangement field, sound bank manager, transport panel and information field.
In the field of arrangement, manipulation with objects is performed. All standard editing operations are available, such as copying, cutting, increasing / decreasing, changing the volume of an object, editing fades, changing automation parameters. The basic version of Music Maker has 64 tracks. The easiest way to start creating a composition is to drag and drop suggested samples and loops into the arranger window. As soon as a musical object is placed on the desired track, it is assigned an icon-icon of the corresponding musical instrument for easier orientation in the arrangement.
In order not to get lost in a huge number of sound samples, Music Maker has a convenient file manager. In it, the sound library is divided into styles and instruments.
The transport panel is concise and easy to understand, like the entire program interface. Here are the controls for playback, metronome, and master bus output level.
The information field is a very important element for those who are just starting to master the program. Hints will significantly speed up the development of the basic principles of interface organization. Also, this field can be switched to the analyzer mode, which displays the sound spectrum in a graphical form.
MAGIX Music Maker MX includes a real-time mixer with a master effects section. By default, the mixer displays 8 tracks at a time. Use the buttons next to the bottom scroll bars to increase or decrease the size of the mixer. The scroll bar allows you to view other tracks.
The layout of the mixer is quite clear: insert slots are located at the top, then sends to the effects buses, a pan control, solo-mute buttons, a fader with a numerical and graphical display of the signal level.
The program offers a variety of intuitive customizable sound effects that can be applied to the entire track or to a single object. All effects have presets, which speeds up the work on musical material. The main processing is organized in a virtual rack.
It includes a 10-band graphic EQ, reverb, delay, compressor, pitch and speed changer, distortion and filter. Each of the elements is easy to control, and the processing capabilities make it easy to adjust the sound. The combination of visibility and high-quality sound effects make mixing quick and productive. Music Maker now has a built-in VST support, which allows you to significantly expand the technical and creative possibilities.
In the version of Music Maker provided for testing, in addition to the standard set of sounds, it was proposed to download an additional sample bank from the catooh service. The downloaded archive must be imported into the main library. Sounds are automatically assigned to Styles and Instruments. This archive contains the following styles: rock alternative, 70s funk, brazil, HipHop, house, oriental. Since the principle of organizing multimedia banks is the same, let's consider one of them, for example, oriental. In the sound manager, we see the available groups of instruments: Bass, Drums, Ethnic, Pads, Percussions, Strings.
Let's begin to collect the basis of the arrangement. First select the drum part, for example "cave A", put the loop on the first track. The tempo of the song is automatically set to the tempo of the loop. In our case, this is 110 bpm. Extending the right corner of the loop, stretch it to 8 measures.
The timeline above the edit window allows you to accurately track how long objects sound. Now let's add bass. Let it be deepbass. On the initial four measures we put the first version of this loop, and on the measures from the fifth to the eighth - the second version. It is worth noting that the loops within the style are very well combined with each other in sound. On the one hand, at first it allows you to get good results and the composition sounds good from the very beginning. But in order to achieve an individual sound, you need to show imagination and work on arrangement and effects. Let's add the percussion part of Tab A and Tab B, Winter 1 pad to make it "atmospheric". The architecture and philosophy of the program corresponds to the usual strategy of the MAGIX company. Let's say, if you have previously used wonderful video editing programs from the same developer, then the process of mastering a new application will take you very little time. In our opinion, even very, very complex project is unlikely to completely occupy all the tracks of the virtual studio. If dozens of different instruments sound at the same time, then it will no longer be music, but sheer chaos.
The similarity of applications from MAGIX is also manifested in the fact that the same keyboard shortcuts work in them. For example, simultaneously scrolling the mouse wheel and pressing the CTRL key causes the project in the Arranger Field window to scale up or down, just as non-linear video editing software scales the Timeline.
A little lower is the sample library - based on it, you can start creating your first mixes. The number of tracks in the library depends on the installed edition of the program. The youngest edition has about three and a half thousand samples, and the most advanced edition of Music Maker MX Production Suite includes more than 10 thousand titles.
A sample added to a track is a complete piece of music—a keyboard chord, a series of drums, a short bass line, and so on. If you've never created your own music before, try listening to modern songs from the composer's point of view - and you will understand that all pop music is built on the same variations, on the same play on the main theme. Let's say if a music track begins with piano chords, then most likely they will be repeated many times throughout the entire length of this composition. Since the eighteenth century in musical science this way of presenting music has been called rondo. Therefore, when working with ready-made fragments, in a sense, we follow in the footsteps of Mozart, repeating the same samples in the MAGIX Music Maker MX project.
Some samples have a complete look - placed one after the other, they seem to be a single whole. Such “looped” samples are commonly called loops in DJ jargon. In the program, making a "loop" is as easy as shelling pears - just drag the desired sample onto the track, move the cursor to its edge and "pull" it to the required length. Ready blocks of samples can be copied and pasted into the project an unlimited number of times.
The program is very convenient to control the volume of each sample. Centered music block there is a straight line indicating the volume level. By moving control points on it and changing its shape, you can control the sound.
Another way to control the volume is with the Volume Mixer tool. It brings up a virtual mixing console and gives you the ability to control the sound level on each track.

Despite the fact that the program works very stably (without a hint of advertising, let's say that this applies to all programs that MAGIX offers), there is a parameter in the application settings that is responsible for "force majeure". For projects created in the program, you can specify the time period after which the current work will be automatically written to disk.
Music Maker MX also includes a built-in synthesizer with which you can compose and edit sequences.
You can apply various post-processing effects to the melodies obtained on this synthesizer. The program supports VST effects, so you can download any of the thousands of free VST plugins into it.
Among other things, the program has many different constructors for creating musical parts. You can simulate drums, strings, playing the synthesizer.
Having created a multi-track composition, the user can easily save each track as a separate file with one command. This can be useful, for example, in order to process a part of instruments in an audio editor.
Finished projects can be exported to MP3, WAV, OGG, WMA, AIFF, FLAC files. It also provides recording to CD directly from the program and the possibility of publishing to SoundCloud, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
