Description

The interface of the program looks quite friendly, and it will not be difficult for a person with any level of training and knowledge in the field of music processing to deal with it, not to mention the degree of proficiency musical instruments.

The visual interface of the program is divided into two parts - the preview window, which is a ruler with fragments of the composition, as well as a window that combines the functions of the explorer, selection of fragments, "loops" and effects.

The built-in base of sounds and "loops" has more than 3000 positions. A variety of musical genres are represented, ranging from rock and hip-hop to varieties electronic music. The choice is so great that a novice user can easily create a good composition, resorting only to the help of the base.

For those who find this not enough, it is possible to add their own fragments. The program perfectly exports WAV, MP3, OGG Vorbis, WMA, QuickTime, MIDI, CD-A, AVI, MXV, WMV, FLAC files.

MAGIX Music Maker 2013 provides an opportunity not only to use ready-made fragments, but also to record your own. For this purpose, you can use the built-in virtual instruments - as the most common ( acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, grand piano, piano, violin), and many others.

It is also possible to purchase and integrate additional virtual instruments into the software. If the user himself plays real, “live” musical instruments, then you can record them too. The virtual amplifier with the eloquent name "Vandal SE", contrary to the obvious associations, will allow you to convey the sound as accurately and efficiently as possible.

To create your own melodies, or edit ready-made ones, MAGIX Music Maker 2013 contains a built-in MIDI editor. It is quite easy to use and does not require serious preparation - you just need to select the necessary notes with the mouse.

To obtain the highest quality soundtrack, the program has a built-in mixing console - its purpose, of course, is the same as in real studios - mixing recordings from individual tracks.

There are also separate series of effects, such as "FX Rack", "Essential FX" and "Vintage Effects Suite", musicians will understand what it is about. The choice of effects is diverse - for example, the FX Rack series includes the most commonly used ones - an equalizer, delay effects, reverb, distortion, and similar musical "gadgets". There are, of course, ready-made "presets".

Summing up, we can say that MAGIX Music Maker 2013 may be of interest to both professionals in the field of sound processing and novice users - the program surprisingly easily combines ease of use and an extended list of functions.

DJs won't be disappointed either - with the help of the software remix wizard, you can easily give a new sound to a previously recorded song.

Any musician knows that studio time is not cheap. Of course, no one calls for the destruction of all studios and recording at home - initially, individual instruments still need to be recorded with high quality, and one cannot do without a studio with good sound insulation and competent architecture. But it is quite possible to reduce to the final soundtrack, or, at least, “aim” to show the sound engineer “what you mean” with this program. And for novice musicians ... In general, - you understand ...

Overview of a virtual synthesizer with the ability to create unique sound on 4 tracks.

Somehow, having played enough with Garageband on the iPad, I decided to look for a worthy analogue on the PC. And I found an entire virtual music studio called MAGIX Music Maker. It will be discussed in this short review.

So let's get started.

The interface of the program is simple and clear, it will not be difficult to understand it.

The MAGIX Music Maker window is divided into several areas by default. The most most of the application window is reserved for a multitrack virtual studio.

Up to 99 tracks can be used in the program (in Premium edition).

Below is a library of samples with which you can start creating your first masterpiece. The number of samples depends on the edition, but it is not limited to what you see when you first start the program - you can buy (or download) new ones, so your creativity will have no limits. Clicking on the sample name activates the preview. To add a sound fragment to our composition, just drag it to one of the tracks.

Some samples have a complete look - put one after another, they become a single whole. Such samples are called loops. To create such a loop, you just need to pull the music block by the edge until you reach the desired length.

The volume control is done quite interestingly: a straight line runs through the center of the block, raise it higher, the volume increases, lower it lower - it decreases. On this line there are control points, by moving which you can control the sound, including making “fade out”, etc.

In addition, the program has virtual instruments, the number of which is also not limited to the initial set.

But that's not all! You can directly connect a microphone, guitar or synthesizer and record in studio quality, which should appeal to advanced musicians.

You can save your songs as WAV, MP3, OGG Vorbis, WMA, Quick Time, MIDI, FLAC files, burn them to CD or upload them directly to Facebook, SoundCloud and YouTube.

Conclusion

MAGIX Music Maker interesting program both for people who have never been involved in music in their lives, and for those who understand at least something about it. Yes, assembling ready-made sounds into a melody is not real creativity, but you need to start somewhere, right? Perhaps Music Maker will instill in someone a love for music and become the first step towards becoming a future great musician.

We are deeply convinced that every person should do in his life what he is interested in. Only when work is a joy, you can realize your creative potential. However, the reality, unfortunately, is often very different. When choosing an occupation, the majority is often guided by rules that are based on stereotypes, moreover, covered with dust and cobwebs.

One of the most common misconceptions: to be a designer, you need to be able to draw on paper. Yes, this is a big plus if a person has this talent and can, so to speak, "as he goes along" make a sketch with a pencil or pen. But this condition is by no means obligatory. IN real life a designer may not be able to draw a straight line, but at the computer he becomes a master of his craft. Even more a difficult situation observed among those who suppress the desire to create music. Yes, there are tragic cases when the elephant really stepped on the ear and the person hardly separates the sound of the trombone from the buzz of the vacuum cleaner. However, in most cases, in order to become a composer, only the desire and the right means for work are enough. Who said "musical instruments"? No, no, we meant software. And to be precise, MAGIX Music Maker MX.

When thinking about creating your own musical composition Mountains of hand-written scores and a complexly equipped music studio come to mind. MAGIX Music Maker MX is built in such a way that a person can "throw off the shackles" and start creating without bothering with such things as musical notation.

The program interface is so clear that you can deal with it much faster than with the "dancing men" on the stave.

“But what about musical instruments? - you ask - "How about a recording studio and tedious guitar or keyboard lessons?" The question is fair. When a person learns to ride a bicycle, they either support him or put an extra pair of wheels so that he does not immediately fall. So is the case with MAGIX Music Maker MX - this program keeps a person afloat, even if he is a "complete zero" in the composer's craft. This application has everything you need for the very first creations - there are blanks, there are virtual instruments. This is a kind of simulator for imagination and development. musical memory. But if you get to the point where you feel like you can pick up a real guitar and start learning "tedious playing lessons", then MAGIX Music Maker MX will give you the opportunity to take it to the next step. Having bought a high-quality microphone and equipped a mini-studio at home, you can record your parts on the same interface and mix them into a single composition. Moreover, the extended edition of the program with the Premium prefix comes with a USB MIDI keyboard.

The architecture and philosophy of the program corresponds to the usual strategy of the MAGIX company. Let's say, if you have previously used wonderful video editing programs from the same developer, then the process of mastering a new application will take you very little time. For example, after installing and launching the application for the first time, a window with “incomprehensible” downloads appears on the screen. These downloads are additional content that the program automatically downloads from the server.

A similar procedure is available in other programs from MAGIX. In principle, this is an optional step, and you can skip it if you wish. However, we recommend (especially at first) to allow music editor install everything you can - visual examples of songs and a library of instruments will allow you to quickly learn the application, which is especially important at the first stages of mastering the craft of a musician. The download process will take a lot of time, because first the download manager from MAGIX will download the necessary files from the server, and then they will need to be installed. Given that the size of the libraries is hundreds and hundreds of megabytes, it will take quite a lot of time.

By default, the Easy mode is enabled in the program. Its difference from the standard one is that an information window appears in the corner of the screen, where explanatory inscriptions are shown commenting on the purpose of one or another element of the program interface.

The MAGIX Music Maker MX window is divided into several areas by default. The largest part of the application window is dedicated to the multi-track virtual studio.

In total, the program can use up to 96 independent tracks in the extended edition and up to 64 in the standard edition. In our opinion, even very, very complex project is unlikely to completely occupy all the tracks of the virtual studio. If dozens sound at the same time different instruments, then it will no longer be music, but sheer chaos.

The similarity of applications from MAGIX is also manifested in the fact that the same keyboard shortcuts work in them. For example, simultaneously scrolling the mouse wheel and pressing the CTRL key causes the project in the Arranger Field window to scale up or down, just as non-linear video editing software scales the Timeline.

A little lower is the sample library - based on it, you can start creating your first mixes. The number of tracks in the library depends on the installed edition of the program. The youngest edition has about three and a half thousand samples, and the most advanced edition of Music Maker MX Production Suite includes more than 10 thousand titles.

A sample added to a track is a complete piece of music—a keyboard chord, a series of drums, a short bass line, and so on. If you've never created your own music before, try listening to modern songs from the point of view of the composer - and you will understand that all pop music is built on the same variations, on the same beat main topic. Let's say if a music track begins with piano chords, then most likely they will be repeated many times throughout the entire length of this composition. Beginning in the eighteenth century musical science this way of presenting music is called rondo. Therefore, working with ready-made fragments, we in a certain sense we follow in the footsteps of Mozart, repeating the same samples in the MAGIX Music Maker MX project.

Some samples have a complete look - placed one after the other, they seem to be a single whole. Such “looped” samples are commonly called loops in DJ jargon. In the program, making a "loop" is as easy as shelling pears - just drag the desired sample onto the track, move the cursor to its edge and "pull" it to the required length. Ready blocks of samples can be copied and pasted into the project an unlimited number of times.

The program is very convenient to control the volume of each sample. Centered music block there is a straight line indicating the volume level. By moving control points on it and changing its shape, you can control the sound.

Another way to control the volume is with the Volume Mixer tool. It brings up a virtual mixing console and gives you the ability to control the sound level on each track.

For clarity, opposite each track, you can select your own icon, which will visually indicate what type of instrument is used in a particular case. In this case, it will not be necessary to switch to the “solo” mode in order to understand which sound track contains, say, a drum part.

A unique effect can be applied to each sample placed in the project window. The set of effects in MAGIX Music Maker MX is different for each instrument. The effect is selected directly on the work area. You can also apply effects to the entire track.

Despite the fact that the program works very stably (without a hint of advertising, let's say that this applies to all programs that MAGIX offers), there is a parameter in the application settings that is responsible for "force majeure". For projects created in the program, you can specify the time period after which the current work will be automatically written to disk.

Music Maker MX also includes a built-in synthesizer with which you can compose and edit sequences.

You can apply various post-processing effects to the melodies obtained on this synthesizer. The program supports VST effects, so you can download any of the thousands of free VST plugins into it.

Among other things, the program has many different constructors for creating musical parts. You can simulate drums, strings, playing the synthesizer.

Having created a multi-track composition, the user can easily save each track as a separate file with one command. This can be useful, for example, in order to process a part of instruments in an audio editor.

Finished projects can be exported to MP3, WAV, OGG, WMA, AIFF, FLAC files. It also provides recording to CD directly from the program and the possibility of publishing to SoundCloud, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The possibilities of MAGIX Music Maker MX are not limited to creating musical material. With this package, you can even mount music videos. Tracks can contain not only audio data, but also video sequences, as well as static graphics.

Conclusion

MAGIX Music Maker MX is one of those programs that you can get carried away with and forget that you were not accepted once in music school or chorus, motivating this by the lack of hearing. Well no, okay. And we will still create. In the end, Sir Paul McCartney was not taken to the choir at one time due to the lack of voice and hearing. So do not rely on someone else's opinion.

Someone will say that working with MAGIX Music Maker MX deprives a person of individuality. They say that ready-made parts and sets of samples are not creativity yet. Of course, "dry" work with the program is not at all what a pianist feels when he picks up his own chords and improvises on the go. But maybe you just need to grow up to this? And then at one fine moment the realization will come that without first pumping your musical talent something like MAGIX Music Maker MX wouldn't work.
