A.N. Ostrovsky.

Theatre. V. Mayakovsky

Directed by Mindaugas Karbauskis

The young artistic director of Mayakovka, Lithuanian Mindaugas Karbauskis, who took a course to renew the theater entrusted to him, did not rewrite the text, did not move his characters to other eras. "Talents and Admirers" is about the theater, about that fanatical service, which, on the one hand, brings happiness, and on the other, pushes for sacrifices and, perhaps, for betrayal.

Igor Kostolevsky played his prince Dulebov, the stupid suitor of young Negina, an arrogant narcissistic snob, bathing in his every intonation, in every step. Svetlana Nemolyaeva turned her elder Negina into a tragicomic old woman, in whom, behind fussiness and alertness, one can see a not very happy woman, mother, who knows the price of life and grief, trying to realize her unfulfilled dreams in a talented daughter. Negina herself was played by invited Irina Pegova - the star of the film "The Walk", one of the favorite actresses of Karbauskis. Her heroine is not a fatal temptress, but a lively, impulsive, hot girl, real actress, to which only the stage brings true happiness. In the finale, she slides around the turning circle, almost taking off with happiness.

Little Tragedies

A.S. Pushkin

Theater "Satyricon"

Directed by Viktor Ryzhakov

Such a familiar text by Pushkin sounds unusual here - they play with it, destroy it and collect it again. The play by Viktor Ryzhakov is played by young people - there are no heroes here, there are common destinies, archetypal situations scattered at everyone - at the yard boys and girls in gray coats, who gathered in the courtyard of a panel house for dancing. Ryzhakov made a real collage from "Little Tragedies" - the "Stone Guest" suddenly invades the "Feast in the Time of Plague", and the "Miserly Knight" suddenly invades it. It seems that those who survived the twentieth century, with its wars and upheavals, are trying to play in Little Tragedies.

Together with the young, Konstantin Raikin plays - his mean knight he seems not to be a stingy, predatory old man, but a downtrodden, bewildered fragment of a different era - he writhes frightened over his wealth, but the soulless hands of boys in gray coats intercept his remarks and move his palm, as if he were a weak-willed puppet. The gloomy and stylish collage of the "Satyricon" is crowned by a scene from Pushkin's "Faust" - the text runs across the screen, and to the energetic music the artists set the table - a long one, for the whole stage. An impeccable banquet without a single soul becomes the main metaphor of the performance.

Uncle Ivan

A.P. Chekhov

Theatre. Vakhtangov

Directed by Rimas Tuminas

Rimas Tuminas staged "Uncle Vanya" in a gloomy Lithuanian way. On the big black stage - the remains of a ruined estate - portals, a worthless cracked statue of a lion - these were usually placed in front of the entrance or in the garden. None interior decoration or comfort - there is a workbench on the side, a rusty plow in the center, there is also a shabby, shabby sofa. Uncle Vanya and Sonya are looking at the silent sky through a sooty glass - they are waiting, foreseeing the elements that threaten to sweep away the former life from the earth.

Tuminas did not begin to dissolve in the "Chekhovian" atmosphere, having expelled from the play the sentimentality and significance imposed on it. He added eccentricity to his heroes - that grotesque, which, having enlarged the comic, makes it more poignant and tragic. The handsome and stately Astrov, played by Vladimir Vdovichenkov, suffers from his worthlessness and incomprehensibility no less than Uncle Vanya and has little inclination to casual flirting. Everything is serious with him and any ironic dialogue is given to him through force. Professor Serebryakov, played by Vladimir Simonov, looks like a puffed up turkey, but at some point he becomes not only ridiculous, but also pathetic when his body shudders in gouty convulsions. The bewitching Elena Andreevna is turned into a cold porcelain figurine, and Uncle Vanya himself, in the brilliant performance of Sergei Makovetsky, looks like a child who has never grown up. He goes into the blackness of the stage as if into death with an unnatural smile, which the furious Sonya stretches with her fingers on his face.

F.M. Dostoevsky

Theatre. Evg. Vakhtangov

Director - Yuri Lyubimov

In the performance, Lyubimov explores contemporary Russian life with its superficial politicized excitement and massively corrupting taste. Lyubimov, a master of sharp form, a specialist in grotesque and satire, solves a complex multifaceted novel with subtle psychological ligature unexpectedly: it musical composition, in the center of which is a man at the piano. The basis of the performance is the music of Igor Stravinsky and Vladimir Martynov, for some time Maestro Martynov himself is at the instrument. All the heroes of the performance are subject to a musical plot: melodies, sounds set the pace, emotion, plastic drawing, everyone here is a little puppet, a little clockwork puppets. And first of all, Nikolai Stavrogin himself, whom the tall, strange Sergei Epishev plays, rather, a tragic clown than a philosopher of denial.

Lyubimov chose only a few chapters from the novel, without focusing his attention on the relationship of the characters, but much time was devoted to satirical scenes - when would-be socialists, so similar to swindlers, fussily decide the fate of Russia. Lyubimov, in his usual manner, is not shy about journalism - his theater has always been characterized by topical jokes of the areal sense. The phrase “Does Liputin know” is pronounced here, deliberately breaking the last name into syllables, which causes constant laughter in the hall, and instead of “God save the Tsar”, a modern anthem is suddenly sung - as if by an accidental mistake.

Russian man on rendez-vous

I.S. Turgenev

Theater "Workshop of P. Fomenko"

Director - Yuri Butorin. The artistic director of the production is Evgeny Kamenkovich.

Performance based on the novel by Ivan Turgenev spring waters”, although it was staged by the young forces of the theater, in its style it is the flesh of the flesh of the famous Workshop. Here they know how to work with the word, here they are attentive to the text, and almost every replica can become an occasion for a game, for an elegant theatrical trick.

At the very beginning, the main character is Dmitry Sanin, performed by young actor Fyodor Malysheva puts on a coat, glasses, a hat, hunches over and turns into an old man, remembering his youth. Then he throws it all off, straightens his shoulders and becomes an impulsive young man, strolling around Frankfurt, waiting for the stagecoach. Accidentally meeting the young Italian Gemma, he enters her mother's house and quickly becomes a fiancé. Italian life in the performance of "Fomenok" is presented with a playful grotesque - noisy, as befits an Italian matron, the mother inserts a real bunch of grapes into her magnificent hairstyle, and when she is worried, she imperceptibly pinches off a berry. And the elderly took root, temperamental, crafty and touchy, showing the habits of a failed operatic genius. Over time, the performance drifts from major to minor - Turgenev, using personal experience, wrote about the painful slavery of the hero who had lost his young carelessness. Sanin, entangled in the spell of the predatory Marya Polozova, voluntarily renounces happiness, turning into a shabby, restless loser. True, gloomy pessimism is so out of the nature of the Workshop that here, too, lyrical, with a grin, melancholy, smooths out the tragedy.

F.M. Dostoevsky

Moscow theater for young spectators

Director - Irina Keruchenko

Dostoevsky wrote a story, but she was very fond of in theaters - The Meek is staged quite often, history knows the famous production of Lev Dodin at the Moscow Art Theater with Oleg Borisov in leading role. It would seem that the legend, which many older theatergoers remember very well, should have scared the young away from this work. But no - in the small St. Petersburg theater "Osobnyak" Dmitry Podnozov brilliantly plays "The Meek", and on small stage Moscow Youth Theater it was staged by a student of Kama Ginkas Irina Keruchenko. The hero-narrator was played by one of best actors generation of forty-year-olds Igor Gordin.

The small stage of the Youth Theater is a white room, frightening with its laboratory whiteness. The uncomfortable space is filled with antique items - a huge chest, a small desk, behind which a moneylender conducts his business. A pale face without a single blood, a nervous crooked smile, a mask of cold indifference and heavy contempt inside - it seems that he despises people, but very soon it will become clear that, first of all, he despises himself.

"The Meek One" is sometimes staged as a one-man show - after all, the story is told from a single person, and the heroine herself is usually perceived as a victim, a suffering face. Keruchenko came up with a different alignment of forces: here the heroine, performed by Elena Lyamina, although she looks quiet at first, her character, unlike the rushing frightened usurer, is solid and strong.

The windows in the house are boarded up with cardboard, the pawnbroker makes a small hole to spy on the world that has offended him, and the heroine, feeling imminent death, tears the cardboard to shreds and freezes under the stream of light pouring on her.

Three sisters

A.P. Chekhov

Maly Drama Theater

Directed by Lev Dodin

If in "A play without a title" by early experience Chekhov had a lot of jazz, passion, languor, fireworks, and in the ascetic "Uncle Vanya" piercing, sometimes sentimental, tragedy, then "Three Sisters" Dodin staged harshly and concisely.

On the stage, the facade of the house - behind the large openings of windows, the family is preparing for the holiday, but there seems to be no fun. Gradually, this facade will move forward, towards the proscenium, as if getting rid of people from its space. The Chekhov sisters will be left with only a narrow strip of black stage.

Chekhov's heroes here know in advance that life is lost. The middle-aged Tuzenbach performed by Sergei Kuryshev is touching, absurd, but his philosophical fantasies about the future are not at all optimistic. Natasha here, the traditional opponent of intelligent sisters, energetically and boorishly capturing space, is not at all like that here: she is like another sister. Her young hope new life quickly goes out, with her nervous amorphous, apoplectic physique, her husband, she seems to be the only support of the family, Andrey is like another child, like Bobik and Sofochka.

The sisters themselves have no illusions at the very beginning - even young Irina, reciting a textbook text about the future, does not at all look like a dreamer. All three of them grit their teeth and live out of stubbornness, repeating the words about Moscow more like a mantra than a hope they believe in.

"Three Sisters" in Dodin's version, perhaps one of the most pessimistic Chekhov's performances However, to Chekhov the skeptic, such a merciless view of life would have seemed close.

Theater in the South-West is an author's theater, the productions of which are united by a single tone set by the founder Valery Belyakovich. The action takes place on a surrealistically black space of the stage, rich lighting scenography and music play a special role. Important detail in relations between the actors and the audience - the constant effect of presence.

The coming year of 2016 brought a lot of new products to connoisseurs of theatrical art. In the theatrical season of 2016, almost all Moscow theaters tried to please their fans with premieres. According to leading Moscow theater critics, almost all the novelties deserve attention. Below we present rating of the best performances in Moscow 2016 of the year according to theater critics and viewers who have already seen them.

Director: V. Mashkov. Genre: drama.
Starring - I. Vernik, S. Ugryumov, K. Babushkina, I. Pegova.
A well-known production for avid theatergoers. This drama was on the stage of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater for 11 seasons. All these years, No. 13 has enjoyed constant success with the audience. The performance was updated due to the fact that the original cast, which included E. Mironov, A. Leontiev and other actors, was busy in other performances this season. According to critics and viewers, the new cast brilliantly coped with the task - a new version, which has undergone modernization, No. 13D, is in no way inferior to the old and familiar one, which has managed to fall in love with fans of theatrical art.

Starring - N. Kukushkin.
This performance is based on the play by the German playwright M. Mayerburg. Like all of Serebrennikov's latest productions, this performance is notable for its sharply social orientation, even some aggression towards the real Russian reality. The main leitmotif of the story is reflections on intolerance in all its forms: homophobia, anti-Semitism. This production is recommended for viewing by all those who believe that the main objective theater - to make the viewer think, to show the truth, no matter how impartial it is.

Gogol Center. Rating: critics - 5, viewers - 5.
Director: K. Serebrennikov. Genre: drama.
Starring: O. Byron, S. Steinberg, O. Gushchin.
Another wonderful performance from the Gogol Center. The story of Chichikov, projected on the plot of another work by Gogol - "Gamblers". Despite the fact that this production has already been staged by Serebrennikov in Latvia, in Moscow this production is an undoubted hit, which sounded in Russian for the first time.

Studio of theatrical art. Rating: critics - 5. viewers - 5.
Director: S. Zhenovach. Genre: drama.
Starring: G. Puskepalis, D. Lipinsky, E. Gromova, I. Yankovsky.
This is already the second play by M. Bulgakov, directed by Zhenovach. Both graduates of Gitis and already honored veterans of the stage are involved in the production. According to the director, the performance, in addition to the named play, included other plays by Bulgakov, including the original version of The White Guard.

Theater of Nations. Critics' rating: 5, viewers: 5.
Director: A. Armanis. Genre: comedy.
Starring: E. Mironov, Ch. Khamatova.
This performance received rave reviews from the audience for a reason. In the opinion of both critics and amateur theatergoers, Mironov and Khamatova were perfectly able to convey the energy of Shukshin. Not a small role in this was played by the original presentation of the writer's works. So, instead of the scenery in the background are big photos native places of Shukshin, his countrymen. These exclusive photographs were specially taken for the production.

Director: F. Zambello. Genre: Opera.
Third place ranking. This masterpiece was absent from the Bolshoi's repertoire for almost a decade. And now, finally, he triumphantly returned to the stage. Opera by Verdi La Traviata directed by Zambello in a brilliant performance of artists Bolshoi Theater will make viewers think about acutely social, eternal issues. Meanwhile, everything is done in classical style, without any modernist concepts. This production by an American director will delight all fans of classical opera.

Theater. doc. Critics' rating: 5, viewers: 5.
Director: Yu. Muravitsky. Genre: drama.
Starring: A. Yudnikov, A. Marakulina, I. Tameev.
This performance deservedly won the award " golden mask"The plot of the performance is stories from the life of rock celebrities of the past: J. Hendrix, J. Morrison, J. Joplin. The performance takes us to the childhood and youth of the musicians, makes us experience a number of comic situations from their lives with them. At the same time, it seemed A rather serious theme of confession can be traced in the uncontrollably funny sketches. The magnificent play of the actors, the wonderful staging distinguish these reconstructions of funny plots from the biographies of legends from the general series of similar performances.

Big theater. Critics' rating: 5, viewers: 5.
Director: D. Neumeier. Genre: ballet.
Starring: S. Zakharova. V. Lantratov.
The leader of the rating of the best performances in Moscow 2016 became classical ballet, staged by Neumeier almost 40 years ago, never ceases to fascinate the audience. Of course, not the last role in this is played by the plot written by Dumas - the son, and Chopin's music. But still, the main merit here still belongs to the magnificent choreographer. It is not for nothing that Neumeier himself defined this ballet as the central point of all his work.

For everyone who has not visited the theater for a long time, of course, it is better to choose a performance in advance, study the reviews of the audience so that the cultural trip does not discourage the coming years. There is a wide variety of genres and types of productions in the capital's theaters. We have collected in the review the best performances of Moscow, which, according to the audience, caused big interest. The performances involved famous artists, whose game does not leave anyone indifferent.

Interesting performances in Moscow. "Triptych" (Workshop of Pyotr Fomenko)

In the Workshop of Pyotr Fomenko they gather true connoisseurs theatrical art. His large-scale production of "Triptych" once opened at the Maly Hall Theatre. The basis of the play literary works Pushkin "The Stone Guest", "Count Nulin". Scenes from "Faust" are included here. The performance consists of three parts. Two intermissions.

The first part of the production seems light and airy, in the director's spirit: sentimental poems, swings and even anecdotes in poetic form. The second part takes the viewer to a Spanish stone city. Spectators are confused by non-obviousness: prayer, a monastery, tombstones and bars. The third part is unusual in its denouement. The audience plunges into the most realistic sea, and at the end, along with the actors and the stage, silk waves cover them. Such illusions, metaphors will impress, excite the viewer's imagination. Pyotr Fomenko invites those present in the hall to "descend from heaven through the earth to hell."

When choosing the best performances in Moscow, pay attention to this production. In the reviews, the audience emphasizes the talented play of the actors: Galina Tyunina, Kirill Pirogov, Karen Badalov.

"Eugene Onegin" (Vakhtangov Theatre, director - Rimas Tuminasov)

The best performances in Moscow should definitely include the play "Eugene Onegin", which is shown on the stage of the Vakhtangov Theater. The director is the talented Rimas Tuminasov. The director and his production are famous for the fact that on the stage the stereotypes of lyricism, the rhythmic construction of phrases are completely broken. The performance can be called the author's. He reveals to the viewer new facets and sides in the plot and character of the characters. This is a performance-thinking-impression. A foggy haze is constantly present on the stage, so the scene seems to the viewer the most fantastic. Here virtue becomes obvious, and the vices of the Russian soul shine through. Life on stage is more tangible, and its negative aspects are perceived with humor. The main actors make the acting on stage impeccable, this is the backbone - S. Makovetsky, M. Sevrinovsky, V. Dobronravov, Yu. Borisova, V. Vdovichenkov, M. Volkova, I. Kupchenko, L. Maksakova, N. Vinokurova.

"Suicide" by Sergei Zhenovach

The theater arts studio in Moscow is directed by Sergei Zhenovach. Here the theatrical power has a special power, and, of course, the best performances of Moscow are staged in this place. According to the audience's feedback, it is clear that they have already appreciated the performances of "The Seedy Family", "Moscow-Petushki", "The Potudan River". The attention of many was attracted by the performance based on the play by Erdman "Suicide".

The topical plot is daring, funny, ironic in nature. The production is a Golden Mask nominee. The performance is another reflection on the image of " little man”, in the play it is the unemployed Podsekalnikov. He was tired of being a dependent in the family and decided to finish his life path. The most interesting thing is that others treat such a decision with sympathy.

The main role is played by Vyacheslav Evlantiev. His performance in this production was awarded the Stanislavsky Prize. Three hours, during which the action takes place on stage, fly by unnoticed. Everyone, leaving the hall, feels a certain "theatrical aftertaste" in their souls.

The staging caused mixed reviews viewer. On the stage, Alexander Zbruev (Boris Godunov) chews gum, shoots his subordinates at point-blank range. The character of Igor Mirkurbanov - Grigory Otrepiev - turns into a reclined prisoner here. Despite the extraordinary interpretation, the play looks fantastic and funny at the same time.
