But, as a rule, everything is not so difficult and bad if parents of different faiths decide on the issue of baptizing their children without haste. At the same time, if we're talking about not about infant, and, let’s say, about a teenager, it would be nice to ask him about his attitude towards religion, prefacing the conversation with a small explanation of why this is important for parents.
It’s good to have the opportunity to sit down and discuss the situation in advance. After all, most often the baptism of children, if the parents are of different faiths, occurs spontaneously.

As a priest, I heard a lot of questions about whether we, Christians, can marry Muslims, Buddhists or Catholics, i.e. with people of other faiths? This question concerns true believers who truly love God and want to be obedient to Him, as well as people who have not yet known the will of God. Let us reflect on this topic today. I will not make recommendations based on my own conclusions. And I will draw my conclusions based on the primary source of everything - the Bible.
Should I marry someone of a different faith?
You've probably heard the following statement: “So what if they are different in faith. The main thing is love and respect. And then everything will be fine.” But as practice shows, such words are just a beautiful slogan, but in reality everything is far from happening. Although we can see rare ones, good examples, when a husband and wife, who lived together for many years, maintained their love, despite differences in religious views. But this is already turning out like a game of roulette: “What if you get lucky?”
I think for people who do not respect the will of God, this issue will not be an obstacle to creating such a marriage. Because they put their own desires and aspirations first, rather than the will of God.
But for people who are in love primarily with God, this decision will not be easy. Sometimes the will of God the Father does not coincide with ours, and then the moment of truth comes. How faithful we are to the One who gave us life. Or whether we have entrusted our lives into His hands rather than being the masters of our own happiness.
What does God say about this?
The Bible and the Koran clearly state that we need to create a family with those of our faith. Yes, and many people know about it. But often young people do not want to listen, arguing that their love is limitless and they cannot live without each other.
Engagement is a good period when those wishing to get married can get to know each other better. Since a person has a spirit, soul and body, it is important to know the spiritual level of your chosen one as best as possible. After all, you don’t want to have a chameleon as your life partner, who for everyone is a dedicated follower of his religion, but at home is worse than an infidel, regardless of what faith he belongs to.
Dating on a spiritual level is extremely important, because God wants a husband and wife to have unity in spirit, unity of thoughts and goals. And if the religious values of the couple diverge, the future of this family will be unprotected from “laconic wars.”

Well, then you will have to keep the answer to yourself and not wait for help from God. No matter how much people love each other, over time this love will be experienced by everyone. And if your spiritual views differ, it is difficult to maintain peace, because everyone is convinced of the correctness of their judgment, which our parents raised in us.
And most importantly, going against the will of God is a sin. And sin itself brings us into the zone of damnation. It’s ridiculous to expect easy turns of fate in this case. Human life becomes a constant struggle. And even when reconciliation comes and feelings come to life, the religious wall stands between people like an invisible wall...
What should I do if I started a family before I knew the will of God?
If people are non-believers on both sides, then everything is much simpler. Religious views and beliefs simply do not come up in the everyday life of such a family. Or somehow more or less superficial.
But already, if you started a family not with a Christian before you experienced a meeting with God, then you will have to show your spouse all the love that God teaches us. You should not categorically deny your spouse's views. Your half has inherited the religious priorities of their parents. And they need to be respected.
On the contrary, take an interest, listen, and then in response you will be able to explain the position of Christ. We, as Christians, need to learn to respect the traditions of other peoples. And this does not mean that we betray Christ. On the contrary, we show them a loving and faithful God.
A case from one's life.
