No. I first read the script two years ago, and then I read the novel itself, and it changed my life! Even before the producers started casting, I already wrote them letters and asked them to take me, I wanted this role so much! It seems to me that this story is not only and not so much about cancer. The emphasis is on something else: this is a film about life, about how to become free, to open your heart to love and the whole world. The novel's author, John Green, says that " short life might be interesting,” and he’s right.

Both the book and the film are unlike what is usually written and filmed in this genre. Is not traditional history fight against the disease, it does not contain common clichés...

And this makes the story even deeper and more beautiful. I was really touched by the book and I didn't want to go on set just to show how well I could cry and act powerful emotions. Everyone who took part in the creation of the picture sought to convey the essence and mood of the book. For me this was the most important thing.

Was it difficult to tune in to the right emotions?

The most difficult scenes were those in which you had to cry a lot - it was hard both emotionally and physically. After them, I needed to somehow be distracted - I came home, made popcorn for myself and went to bed.

Which scenes were the easiest for you?

Love ones. They were different from most love scenes in films for young people. It seems to me that very often our society is somehow condescending towards the feelings of teenagers: “Yes, it’s very nice, but they don’t know what it is.” real love" Looking at adults, I just want to ask: “Do you know it yourself?”
