Rhythmic music, dance floor lights, energetic plastique and acrobatic dance elements. It's all 80s disco. This is a dance that will give you an incredible charge of vivacity and positive, make your body elastic and strong, give you new sensations and never make you bored.

How did disco come about?

The history of the disco style begins in the 60s of the last century in France, where young people in discos began to dance no longer under live music orchestra, as before, but to songs recorded on records. Soon, such discos spread throughout Europe, and after the film "Saturday Night Fever", released in 1977, disco dancing became wildly popular.

Today, the disco style is also very popular among young people, and many learn disco in dance schools. You can list for a long time the styles that this active and groovy dance has absorbed. This is jazz, and aerobics, acrobatics, Latin American dances, classical elements, rock and roll, rhythmic gymnastics and many other areas, from which together a stunning mix called disco turned out.

Disco features of the 80s

Disco dance is based on a special rhythm (about 120 beats per minute). Disco steps are springy, and the movements have not changed much since the beginning of this direction. Disco of the 80s is a very active dance, it is even classified as sports dances. Its execution requires good physical preparation, because it is far from being as easy as it seems to perform acrobatic steps so that the pulse does not go off scale. Therefore, in order to learn how to dance disco perfectly, you need to practice a lot.

For hard work and faith in yourself, you will be rewarded with admiring glances and excellent physical shape. Believe me, nothing can compare with the ability to literally flutter around the stage, conveying the most powerful energy of the dance to the audience and making their hearts flutter with delight. Disco dance will help you show yourself and others what your body is capable of, discover new facets of the vision of music and dance performance. Even if you do not plan to seriously engage in this dance direction, training in any case will bring a lot of benefits, both for your body and for internal state, developing endurance, grace, coordination, will help to lose excess weight relieve stress and recharge with positive energy.

Disco dance..

Probably, most people who hear this word immediately have an image of John Travolta and the 70s and 80s with their reckless youth rocking discos in bright, and sometimes ridiculous, outfits ..

Flashing multi-colored spotlights, reflections of a mirror ball and the relentless rhythms of music...

Represented?

Now forget about it, because we are going to talk about something completely different! We will talk about disco dance as a style, which today can easily be classified as a sports dance.

It is rather difficult to describe the variety of styles and dance trends that disco dance has absorbed. classical dance, jazz, Latin American dances, elements of rock and roll, aerobics, acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics.. - and this is not a complete list of what is embodied in disco dance.

Disco dance is performed to rather fast, energetic music, therefore it requires good physical shape and endurance from the performer. It is not so easy to clearly, rhythmically and gracefully perform complex dance steps!

This can only be achieved with constant practice! But trust me, it's worth it! The heart skips a beat with admiration at the sight of a dancer fluttering on the stage, who by his dance not only conveys the powerful energy inherent in the music, but also with the originality of the composition allows you to hear the music in more "bright and saturated colors", makes it seem to be "voluminous".

The main task is to compose a disco composition in such a way that it reveals individuality, so that the dance comes "from the heart" of the performer, and is not reproduced unemotionally like a memorized lesson or morning work-out. Dance should bring pleasure, first of all, to the dancer, and only through this can the hearts and minds of other people be touched ...

Also, disco dance training will keep you in good physical shape and create a great mood!

The sense of rhythm should not disappear while you are moving. Disco dance classes (Disco dance) not only support emotional activity, but also allow you to keep yourself in good physical form. Stretching received at disco lessons is important both for an athlete and a dancer, and for a person who is simply fond of sports and dancing. This dance is not easy, but when I saw it and tried to work out, I realized that it was mine. And before you say "I can't do that" you have to try and learn how to dance disco.

Modern club dances reflect inner world human, so it is very important to choose the right rhythm for each. Club dance programs were developed for those who cannot imagine their life without discos and parties.

Hip-Hop, Disco, R'n'B, dance break.

Club dance school program:
Salsa, Hustle, Mamba, Disco, Rock'n'roll, Cuban Rumba, Jive.

The Jive dance is one of the most original, since its origin is still not known for certain. According to one version, the word "Jive" is identified with the South African word "Jev", which means "disparaging to speak." On the other hand, "Jive" has a similar meaning in Negro slang, and means "cunning, deceit." There is also English word"jibe", which means "marijuana" or "cheap goods" in slang. Which of these terms became the original for the name is unknown, so the original meaning is unclear.

In 1927 this dance was exclusively youth. Older dancers did not approve of him, and even tried to ban him, because they considered him unprogressive. The jive was danced on the spot, and this, in turn, interfered with other couples who were moving along the line. Jive remained a youth dance, and subsequently changed into such as boogie-woogie, swing, be-bop, twist, rock, disco and hustle. (Boogie-Woogie, Swing, Be-Bop, Twist, Rock, Disco and Hustle).

Now club dancing is one of the most common hobbies in Western Europe. It is worth joining the army of young people who can dance beautifully and become the queen or king of any party in the near future. Experienced teachers who teach with us will help make this dream a reality.

All this can be successfully achieved thanks to the original technique, which was developed specifically for adult amateurs who are just mastering the basics of dancing.

The definition of the modern dance style "disco" is impossible without knowledge of its essence, movements characteristic of disco, the history of its development. Now disco is not the variety dance that was performed for quite a long time to disco-style music, the so-called “music of the 80s”. It is distinguished, first of all, by a high tempo, which requires good physical preparation from the performer, otherwise he simply will not be able to dance even half of the composition. Today, disco is both a dance and a sport. From dance (choreography) he took performing skills, set arms, legs, body, spiritual energy, the ability to convey his emotions to the audience, enter into invisible contact (communication) with them, and much more. From sports - clarity, accuracy of execution, elements of gymnastics and acrobatics, muscle training and physical endurance.

Disco fascinates with its energy, colorful costumes, the ability of performers to cope with physical activity, a variety of elements and combinations, which combine elements of classical choreography and rhythmic gymnastics. However, anyone who wants to purposefully engage in disco must know and understand the goals and objectives that he has to fulfill. These tasks can be:

  • Training of the respiratory apparatus with the help of aerobic jumping gymnastics;
  • Development of the strength of the abdominal muscles, legs, arms, back;
  • Overcoming the barrier of "fatigue";
  • Teaching the psychological attitude to multiple approaches during the competition;
  • Development creative activity, the ability to apply the studied ligaments and figures in self-staging dance, etc.

All this perfectly trains the heart muscle and develops physical endurance, which are the main factors in strengthening health and psychological readiness for competitive struggle.

Disco it is forbidden! dance,if these tasks are not solved, because can lead to undesirable consequences in the health of young dancers.

Disco it is forbidden! dance,if you do not include in the warm-up complex of any lesson exercises that contribute to the solution of these problems. Such exercises can be (performed separately and in conjunction):

  • "Kick" with feet in place and moving in a circle;
  • jumps;
  • Jumping gymnastics (on two legs, with the rotation of the arms, legs apart, together with an increase in pace, etc.);
  • Fly jumps with different legs;
  • Power floor gymnastics: swing legs in different sides, swing legs in the "ring", "duck", "bike", "pike", "hoods", etc .;
  • Fly-jumping gymnastics (“wheel”, sliding run, “running”, “screw”, “chasse” from different legs, etc.).

Disco it is forbidden! dance,if you do not know the history of its development.

History of development.

Competitive disco dancing began in 1999 in St. Petersburg. It began with a cabal between 2 clubs "Bouanvi" and "Monplaisir". The duration of the performance at that time was 1.3 minutes, only in the solo the boys and girls were together. The compositions were based on pieces from MTV clips, mainly Five, Backstreet boys, Britney Spears, and the imagination of teachers.

In 2000, the first championship of St. Petersburg in the direction of Freestyle (Disco) was held. And in 2001, the first trip of the Russian team to the IDO World and European Championships took place in Poland in the city of Szczecin. At that championship, the level of dancing of the competitive Disco was visible. Immediately struck by the presence of a large number of gymnastic elements in the category "Children", all kinds of squats with jumps, active movement around the site using the highway, jumps and just jogging. Very sharp work of the hands, switching off the elbows and finishing at the point with the brush in the fist, while moving various chopping actions from the elbow.

Syncopated rhythm and cross movement prevailed (Street Jack), a large number of jumps with kicks, rounds and swings.

In pairs and small groups, there was a lot of synchronization, movements took place on jumps, highways, with acrobatic elements, wheel, rondat, split jumps (pike), changing patterns after 2 measures with a change of action after a measure on the spot.

The leaders then were the Czech Republic and Poland. It was felt that it was they who set the fashion, both in terms of composition and costumes.

The time signature at that championship was from 96 to 120 beats per minute (24-30 tons). The IDO General Assembly decided to change the lower limit from 96 beats to 104 beats per minute, on the recommendation of the Czech Republic as the leader at that time in this discipline. This was logical when using a jumping style, which is difficult to perform at a slow pace.

During this time, a lot has changed in the performance of disco, changes occur to this day. However, there are generally accepted rules for performing disco.

I - image

Each item has multiple criteria.

At the end of each round, the referee must count total amount and mark the participants who scored the largest number points.

In the final, the judges evaluate the dancers by giving them places (the participant with the most points gets the higher place).

But, even knowing the rules of performance, Discoit is forbidden! dance,if you do not protect your pupils from injury, because sprains, muscle strains and back injuries have become topical contemporary problem(in pursuit of leadership, results and victory). The more power and dynamics in the composition, the more likely these injuries become. The main daily training causes of muscle strain and tear are approximately the following:

1. Poor warm-up and thus the unpreparedness of the muscles for an “unpredictable load”.

2. Directly in movements - the so-called situation of "counter-movement" of body parts in complex movements (when it is necessary to abruptly switch from one direction of inertia in movement to the opposite). Inconsistency in the movements of body parts can lead to such an injury. With sharp and explosive movements in general (for example, a strong leg swing), you can not calculate your allowable body amplitude.

3. Directly during stretching and body flexibility exercises, especially during stretching exercises with a partner.

4. Life accident - a collision plus a wrong fall or, in the end, just slip, which leads to a fall, etc.

But! Knowing the "enemy" (reason), it is easier to deal with it!

Little tips on how to protect your students from injury

1. Each person has a different degree of flexibility in their different parts body by nature. Therefore, those parts of the body that are “stretched” in you worse, knead more diligently than others, and they will be more susceptible and ready for “unpredictability” and “randomness”, and you will hear (feel) them in your body through a muscular feeling better means you will have better control of their movements.

2. Be as muscularly focused as possible, and focused on movement during the execution of this complex movement. Pre-roll the movement in your head, break the movement into preparatory movements, try to work it out in parts, and then proceed to the whole movement with desired speed execution. In any case, the muscles will already “remember” something and will be more confident in this movement. If you feel a strong body fatigue - do not start a complex movement as a whole in general, it is better to work it out in parts. This will be even more beneficial for your technique, not to mention preventing injury.

3. Do not rush to stretch at one time! This is impossible! Increase the amplitude gradually and better regularly than from time to time. Be careful during stretching exercises, "listen" to the feeling in your muscles. Do the exercise to the feeling of "slight discomfort" in the muscles, but not to pain. Stretching usually happens at the end of a workout when you're already tired, so keep that in mind and stay vigilant while exercising. These are your muscles, control their condition.
